I had an appt for make up that had been booked since Feb. 4th. the store has seasonal hrs due to mardi gras but felt that was not important to let saks corporate aware of such change. i had an event that evening and tried to see how they would accommodate their mixup as he informed someone made a glitch in booking my appt. as i inquired on how to go about this he abruptly cut me off and said i don't know anything about that and hung up on me. Saks! i am a regular who has never barked at paying $60 for lipstick, $100+ for 2 oz perfume to be handled in such a poor manner. I"ve been going to Saks for decades, 99% to the perfume department. What's good about the perfume department is that the turnover personnel is very low. Most staff there in the area of Bond, Alexander McQueen, Cartier and so on, have been there for years. That department is right by the escalator. Just ask for Betty, Holly, Timothy, Marybeth (mgr), Felicia. These staffers and a few more can help you with anything in perfume, they are outright experts, and what goes well with your DNA. You will become addicted to the love they show you, and the perfume they introduce you too. They will also help you in the surrounding areas with anything else, other than perfume. The consultants are genuine with everyone. Consultants are their titles and believe me they are EXPERTS! They are equally genuine with the men. There's no snobbishness or prejudices anywhere in that particular department. And if you need to go into another department while getting your perfume, they will see to it that you are treated without prejudice. I would not go back to Saks if the consultants and management would change for whatever reason. That department is why Saks is making its stance there.There is not anyone that Betty hasn't touched and spoiled in knowing what is the best thing for them as a customer. Who doesn't like to be spoiled like that, Betty is a little bubbly Italian light. Holly is right there with her. Sweet as pie and an expert pamperer. Where is the Alexander McQueen's women's wear? Where are the Norma Kamali coats? Where are the evening wear gloves? Where are the nice feaux-furs from the designers? The eye wear never changes from month to month. I can assure you I saw the same pieces of eyewear just last week that I saw in June of 2022 at this same exact location. I'm happy to show pictures. This place is an outdated dump and I will not be paying for parking just to leave empty handed. I've been a guest at this location for over 13 years. No more. Today was my first time at Saks New Orleans. I've only ordered online in the past. Never had a bad experience there. Very pleasant experience today. I found parking right in the front. It was $18 for one hour, but I was literally right beside the front door so I'm not mad at it. It is so clean and sanitary inside. Every single person was wearing a mask. All very friendly and welcoming. I felt really secure and safe shopping as they had a few security guards located at different doors. It wasn't crowded at all for a Thursday and I found exactly what I was hoping to purchase. Smooth sailing. I will definitely be back soon. Also the other stores close by also impressed me with their Covid measures, LV & Michael Kors had a line at the door and were only allowing a few people in at a time. This review is for their Chanel Boutique only. Hubby and I had gone into Chanel to look for a Chanel Boy So Black collection however they haven't received any shipments yet. Sandy, their sales associate was extremely kind and patient - he advised that he would contact me if they had one in stock. Before leaving the store, there was a Chanel jumbo in caviar that had caught my eye and Sandy had advised that he would hold it for me. I was very impressed with his high level of customer service. Our Chanel store back at home wouldn't even hold an item for 20 minutes, the sales associates there don't even want to sell you a bag. So coming to the Chanel in Nola was a breathe of fresh air. Saks Fifth Avenue is currently having their designer sale with up to 60% off selected items throughout each department. Located at The Shops At Canal Place in downtown. This Saks Fifth Avenue is 3 stores high, with the handbags on the 1st floor. On this floor, there is an LV boutique, Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, Prada and Celine. As I walked around the first floor, I stopped at the Fendi boutique. I have been looking for a Fendi handbag strap and unfortunately all of the department stores (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks, etc) and other Fendi stores have been sold out of the particular kind that I want. This boutique is nothing different from that, but the 2 sales associates who showed me what they had in stock were very friendly. Then I walked around to look at the other bags, including the section of Saint Laurent bags. Here a sales associate helped me as I browsed the bags. She showed me a few bags from other brands of what she thought I would like. I appreciate her suggestions but nothing really wowed me. Eventually I made my way to the 2nd floor to the ladies' shoes (mens department is on the 3rd floor). By the way, the ladies' restroom is on the 2nd floor. Christian Louboutin is currently having their spring sale as well and so Saks is offering selected shoes at a 30% discount. There are other designer shoes that are at a discount as well. After I browsed through the 2nd floor, I headed to the 3rd to look at the clothing for men (fortunately for me, my husband is not into the high end designer brands... better for me so I can spend more on myself). Overall, all the employees I had interacted with (with the exception of my encounter with a sales associate in the Gucci boutique) were friendly and enjoyed my shopping experience (it's just too bad that sales tax is a little higher here than back at home for me, so I limited my shopping here). read more

I love me some Saks so I was pretty happy to see that there was one located right across the street from my hotel. (Hooray!) As Sak's locations go this is definitely on the smaller side. They have everything, just not tons of it. For example, the ladies shoe department is fairly small. We're talking about maybe a 30x30' area. They did have some fabulous things though (not confirming or denying any purchases). The makeup/skincare area is small too - most things are kiosks rather than full counters but they still have Kiehl's, Jo Malone and LaMer. There are even small Vuitton & Chanel boutiques on the 1st floor. For ladies apparel, they had a very good representation of brands - Burberry, Prada, St. John, etc. Again - not an overwhelming selection but enough. They will also order and ship things for you if they don't have it in stock. Service is excellent, which is par for the course at Sak's. Even though it's not as big as some locations it's worth a stop as they seem to have things that other stores sell out of quickly. read more

I'm going to be honest. I've avoided Saks in the past since I've heard varying experiences with customer service. I was always concerned about having a Pretty Woman moment, but I've never dressed like a hooker (with a heart of gold) while perusing their pricier lines so anxiety be damned, I've been a few times! On various visits at different times of the year, whether at the makeup counter or in the dress section, I've had very nice, helpful service that has never been snooty or dismissive of me. I was even given a cookie while my friend shopped for makeup (I am 31 years old, but am not too good for a cookie, and I think they could tell I was borderline hangry with my bud). I've been a handful of times in their dress section with both friends and my mother-in-law, and have always been offered assistance but never felt like I was being rushed or felt like I had to make a purchase. Yes, some of the dresses and clothing are a wee bit pricey. I'm not necessarily coming here for my day-to-day wears, but the other weekend they had some amazing deals on some gorgeous gowns (one that fingers-crossed will work for my mother's mother-of-the-bride dress) , so don't be afraid to step into Saks or keep an eye on Canal Place's social media for a weekend of deals for some glitz and glam. read more

I found the pair of Prada ankle boots I was drooling over in a magazine. The pair that Barney's in LA was sold out of by the first week... The ones Goddesses of all religions dance in... The ones that turn ordinary feet into wings. Yes... Oh Lord... THAT PAIR... FOR ALMOST 70% OFF. Still came out to over 300 bucks BUT, worth so much more. The great thing about this Saks is that you'll probably find stuff here that other Saks, let's say in NYC or LA will sell out of within days. I was bamboozled. Well, not really as I walked out of Saks with an *enhanced* appearance (courtesy of loads of Chanel make-up), but all that prettification sure did cost a pretty penny. Because I put together a half-assed halfway to Mardi Gras costume consisting of only a long, light purple wig, I needed a dramatic face that could pull its weight. One with super long, fluttery eyelashes (read: faux) and smoldering eyes. I, unfortunately, am not competent when it comes to fake lash application nor at creating the smoky look... sigh. I first stopped by the MAC counter, knowing full well that they make the best fake lashes and are awesome at creating a theatrical look (also - they're relatively inexpensive among department store cosmetics brands). But alas, they were booked solid and a sales associate at Chanel coaxed me to her chair. After asking what the minimum spend would be to get my make-up done (3 products or $75), I restrained my inner thriftonista, remembering I was also on a strict time budget. Proceed, lady in black! And so she did. 45 minutes later, I was transformed into a va-va-voomin' vixen with a sexy, smoky eye, mile-long eyelashes (purchased from MAC), what appeared to be cheekbones (oh, hello!) and a demure, rosy lip to balance the strong eye look. Now, for my (not really necessary) product picks: blush, liquid eyeliner and a Glossimer lip gloss. Total cost? $112. Gulp. But my make-up endured the test of 12 hours out and my new Chanel products will last much longer. When shopping at pricey department stores like Saks, it's best to go in knowing exactly what you need as saying 'yes, I'll take that!' just one too many times can easily result in a 4-digit spend. While the sales associates warm up as you spend some time with them, I did find their reception initially chilly... and a bit too 'sales-y' for my taste. You get two stars for being the only department store to remain in New Orleans. You would get one star for my experience with how your customer service is handled. My story goes like this: I called to see if they sell my hair relaxer, which is expensive and somewhat hard to find (Phytospecific Index II - if you see it a Walgreens, it's counterfeit!). I was told yes, gave my name, and hung up. After a cab ride in a torrential rainstorm, I arrived only to find the sales associate sold it to someone else! What was the response? A sad shoulder shrug and an apology that was so insincere, I thought I was at the DMV. Now, I sell crap for a living, and so I knew there were other measures that could have been taken. I asked if another of their locations could ship one to me. I was told it was too late, although it was still early enough for a store on the West Coast to send one to me. So she calls Chicago instead. Finally, after other associates advised the manager, I'm offered the version of the product I don't want at a 25% discount. To describe this offer? Well, it's like saying, we're out of tofu, but we'll sell you a burger on the cheap to get you out of our hair. To credit the manager, she did give me her card and said there would be a reprimand, but just encourages me to purchase my beauty items online. I called New Orleans since I figure they'd be less busy. The lady who helped me was name Margo. She searched her inventory, and sure enough...their store housed a classic m/l quilted flap in a very pretty gray! She was very sweet and patient with me, explaining how the points system, and even emailed me pictures of the bags I was debating about. When my bag arrived, it was securely packed, and even included a nice card from her with a personal note. She also processed a 10% discount on spot, rather than waiting for a credit to my account on a bill. Service..A ++ + million points for having my gray baby! read more

Suzanne in ladies was so much help. I love how quick associates are to help when you are purchasing from their department verses when you have a return. When there's a return, I've noticed how associates send you away quickly. Today i stopped by to try on a pair of Hangisi's. Kristen noticed my bag of returns and steered me towards the men department. Even after she noticed i was with my toddler and infant baby. I asked to try on a few pair of shoes. She helped but she wasn't going above and beyond. I normally shop shoes and bags with Brittney. During my way to the elevator to make the return, Suzanne asked if she could help with the return and most excitedly and warmly helped me. She was very welcoming and nice. I shop at Saks often and will be using her for future purchases around the store. Suzzane went above and beyond her call of duty. "Treat yo self!" Ok, so this isn't an every day store where you would shop, but every now and then a little splurge is nice. I just inherited a bit of money and since I don't have any children or dependents, I decided to head over to Saks and treat myself to a little something special Why not? I deserve it. First of all, this place is fantastic and just being in here makes you feel special. They have designer clothing, handbags and jewelry, but on this particular day, I was interested in shoes. As soon as I walked into the shoe section, I was greeted by a nice lady who asked me exactly what I was looking for and if I needed help finding anything. She helped me pick out some nice pumps that I had been eyeing and fetched my size so that I could try them on. When I say that I could have spent the ENTIRE day here trying on shoes, I'm not even lying. I found an adorable pair of pumps that weren't INSANELY expensive (but way more than I have ever paid for shoes) and I felt like I had stumbled upon a treasure. Then, I decided to swoop over to the makeup department and pick up a gorgeous shade of red lipstick, courtesy of Yves St.Laurent, just for good measure. I think everyone (or at least every woman) should head over to Saks at least once and treat yourself to something special, even if it is makeup. In New Orleans, it's pretty close to impossible to find red soles, Burberry, and everything extravagant. If you enjoy these things, then thank the sweet lord baby jesus for Saks and Canal Place in general. Amazing make-up selection- Nars, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, ect. The jeans are great, every brand you can name. Same with designer duds. Only issue...if you are under 30 and don't have a older person with you, the salespeople look at you like you're a gutter punk, if they even look at you. My wife and I went in and spoke with a few fragrance sales people with no luck when one of them pointed us in the direction of Tim, a mystical creature in the fragrance world who was said to have the knowledge of fragrance, a parfum abbot if you will. I spoke with Tim and with a meeting of the minds we were on our way. Striking out at first, Tim took my feedback and honed in on EXACLTY what I was looking for, a non-traditional scent one would not expect from a man appearing as I do. Time lead the way, visiting fragrance counter after fragrance counter until we had before us three selections of the most delicious nature! This time we are a Party of Five: Lynn and I are joined, as we were last year, by Virginia; but now, we are with Monica and her husband. Not all Saks are equal, and New Orleans gets shoes that other stores don't. Furthermore, other stores in "Saks World" get shoes that never make it into the New Orleans store . . . well, how do you know that? Fortunately in our travels, Lynn and Virginia were recently in Las Vegas and fell in love with shoes at that Saks. Indeed, there was a pair that Virginia wanted that only two Saks locations in the US received, Vegas and Beverly Hills. But a phone call to Cynthia and -- PRESTO! -- she ordered the shoes from Vegas and they now belong to Virginia! Well, after five glasses of Champagne; five bottles of water, and probably four dozen pairs of shoes to try on. . . Monica buys two, Virginia buys two, and Lynn buys four.
