Our comfy & spacious room with widows above it that look out to the hot tub! Such comfy beds!

If you are looking for a high quality, cozy, warm welcoming, log cabin in the woods with fire burning vibe in a classy hotel then look no further! This hidden gem in the heart of downtown Banff is a Buffalo Plaid lovers dream! The hotel front desk clerks were so helpful, friendly, upbeat & just good people! They were especially helpful in retrieving our ski equipment that was delivered for my sister & I to use & sent back after we finished on the slopes & went back to the hotel. At this hotel if you are fitted for skis, boots, snowboard, helmet, & ski poles in town, all of your equipment is sent to the hotel for you to pick up & take to the slopes (my sister & I went to Sunshine to ski) My sister & I were surprised by a very nice upgrade to our room which was super kind & generous of the hotel staff! The hotel room was spacious, super cozy, welcoming, clean, & wonderful! The upgrade included a refrigerator with cream in it for coffee ( a very thoughtful touch), pots & pans, a little electric stove top, & a mini Nespresso machine with 3 mini Nespresso pods! The room also included Nespresso espresso cups & regular Nespresso coffee mugs, all glass! They were delicious! The beds were super comfy (we had 2 queen beds) as well as the pillows! The body lotion & face wash were all from a local shop in downtown Banff ( I love locally used items that places promote! Always shop local!) They also have a cute bar near the front desk that offers specialty made drinks as well as complimentary S'mores in the evening! Outside is a mini fire pit used to toast the s'mores or just enjoy, dry sauna, & outdoor hot tub all wonderful amenities that we took part in, especially from a long day on the slopes! We woke up early for breakfast which was very nice! It has everything you need to start your day: yogurt, oatmeal with brown sugar & raisins, scrambled eggs, sausage, mini potatoes, & make your own pancakes with a pancake machine! Everything was delicious! Their coffee is also a must have! Overall this is a fantastic hotel that deserves more attention & recognition! I have nothing negative to say other than if you don't sleep here, you're missing out on one of the best hotels in Banff! Truly outstanding!!!

4.75 stars! It was our first time to Banff and the Canalta Lodge ended up working the best for us. If it's your first time to Banff and you fly into Calgary. You'll definitely need a car as it was about 1.5 hours from the airport to the hotel. There's also a fee to enter the town the I didn't think about. The Canalta was recently renovated. It's located a good 15-20 minute walk from downtown Banff. It's walkable during the cold weather or you can drive or take the shuttle. We arrived between 6-7PM and were able to park our huge rental SUV in the heated garage. Just don't forget your pass code to get in! It gets packed in there at night, but not enough that you won't have a spot. The hotel has 4 levels. On the parking lot level, there are lockers for you to store your ski/boards, as well as guest laundry facilities, always a plus when traveling. I think it costs C$2-5 to wash and dry your clothes. We stayed in room 338. Our room had 2 standard double beds, a tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and a tiny closet to hang things on. It wasn't huge, but it was enough space for the 2 of us during our 4 day stay in Banff. The heat wasn't working in our room so the temperature stayed between 66-67 degrees which wasn't terrible especially since the beds were warm. The bed was clean and comfortable and I had many good sleeps. Decor is modern cabin rustic vibes and I loved the yellow lantern on the nightstand. The wifi worked great in our room and I was able to keep in touch during the Christmas holidays. Walls were thing so you could hear noise in the hallway and from other rooms, but it was mostly quiet. We had partial views of the mountains, and the other side of the hotel so we kept our blinds drawn when we were in the room. The lobby is super cute. They were all decorated for Christmas. Plenty of seating and tables, comfy couches to pull up and read a book by the fireplace. I didn't do the hot tubs as I didn't have a bathing suit, but it looked so inviting during the cold weather! Breakfast was 6-10AM. They had eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, porridge, and some cold items like cereal, pastries, and chia seed pudding. Everything was good and I even took a chia seed pudding as a snack for later. There's even a coffee snack bar for late night eating or to get your caffeine fix. The staff were very friendly and nice. It must be hard taking care of other people's needs during Christmas, but they did everything with a positive attitude and were genuinely kind people. Overall, I enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to book this spot again in the future!

    Comfortable bed, with lantern-like lamps.

Thoroughly enjoyed my 5 night stay at the Canalta Lodge! Recently renovated, Canalta has a modern/cabin-y/homey feeling to it. The breakfast in the morning has a large variety, the whirlpool hot tubs are awesome and clean, and the gym is a pretty decent size as well. Staff was nothing but kind and welcoming. Parking is fairly reasonable at $7 CAD/night inside their heated parkade under the hotel. Would definitely recommend Canalta to any travelers to Banff!

    Beautiful view from my room.

So he drove us into Banff NP. We stopped at Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Vermillion Lakes, the cascade falls, and then we began driving to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. What an absolutely beautiful hotel in one of Nature's most breathtaking masterpieces. The beautiful earth-toned cream colored hotel climbs from the lower mountain side and stands beautifully amongst the tall pines surrounding it. We made our way to the Vermillion Bar, where are post worked back in his college days, and were greeted by a super sweet server, Ayala, who lit up whenever she laughed and smiled with you. We enjoyed cocktails, beef, tartare, veggie Credit, charred, avocado, and a unique presentation of hot wings I've never had before - the actual wing that has two bones in it was pre-cut down the middle so you were served the 2 halves as their own individual wing. Great flavors and it was very unique and enjoyable. All of it was delicious and undeniably yummy, and fairly priced for such an elegant location. We were expecting a much higher price point and were delightfully surprised to see that even though it is a luxury location, it was not price gouging or ridiculously inflated that one often finds in so many other locations that are "elegant or nice". If you have the opportunity to treat yourself to a very beautiful sunset under the majestic Mount Rundle, and want to enjoy a modern setting in a historic landmark, this is absolutely a visit you must make while in Banff National Park. Thank you Ayala for treating us so well, and sharing your sweet Australian journey with us. Chris, David, Trisha, and Keith

I was on my way to the Banff Gondola when I stopped here. The hot springs are also located nearby. The original hotel opened in 1888 and has gone through several major renovations and expansions since then. Even if you are not staying here, you have to check this place out. I mostly walked around the outside of the hotel and in the main lobby. Fairmont Banff Springs has two main accommodation areas - the Gatehouse and the historic Main Building. It has a Châteauesque design to it. I love how the hotel stands out within the surrounding Valley. I could even see it from Sulphur Mountain when I rode the gondola to the top. The Banff Springs Hotel has over seven hundred guest rooms and several event spaces. This hotel is worth seeing in person for its size and stunning architecture if you are in the area.

The outlets are also easily accessible. The bathroom is a decent size. There's a clothesline in the shower you can use if needed. I like how the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap were from a 1% for the planet brand. There's a shuttle to downtown and back. Pick up and drop off is always at IGA which is easy to find. You just need to call or let the front desk know when you need the shuttle. I needed post cards to go out and was able to leave them with the front desk. If they get your outgoing mail during the week then it will go out the following week. Although we didn't have an evening meal at the bistro we did have breakfast and I would suggest it was one of the best meals ever had. We did enjoy an evening beverage at the bistro each evening of our stay. Again, the view spectacular. The service, great. General pros and cons: Pros: Front desk service, great. Shuttle service to/from downtown was a life saver. Hiking and biking amenities seemed good but we did not participate. Removed from downtown which made it a bit more cozy. We really did like this aspect of the hotel . Cons: a bit dated and in need of some upgrades. Our room was small. Okay for a couple of days but would suggest a room upgrade if staying more than a couple of nights. I like hotels to have some level of market where bottled water, snacks, etc., can be purchased. Juniper did have some juice drinks and protein'ish bars available yet my personal preference is for more options. All in all, a great place to stay, with top notch views and super service. I would certainly recommend you consider Juniper for your upcoming stay.

Seriously, I forgot we even had neighbours. Not a peep of noise all night (on a friday, at that!). Our only real (and small) gripe was the temperature.
