They open at 10. I walked in at 10. The woman told me I was too early. Then I asked about tile and she sat at her desk and yelled across the place what I should look at. It was very awkward. It's been a long time since I've been treated as rudely as I was at this East Northport store. I went to the store to get an approximate price on kitchen counters and Hildee Reiter was awful to me. We had a fantastic experience with Cancos in Westbury. We bought all of our tile there for a new beach house we built (kitchen and 4 bathrooms). We worked with Jimmy who patiently listened to us describe what we were looking for each of our spaces. We looked at floor plans and idea books together and Jimmy laid out a perfect plan for each of our rooms. After we ordered our tile Jimmy provided frequent updates on our order and was available and responsive throughout the installation process as we made all of the small decisions (grout colors, borders, etc) that resulted in a beautiful finished product. I recently purchased tile from Jimmy at the Westbury location of Cancos. Jimmy was very knowledgeable, helpful and gave my wife and I a lot of information related to the installation of the tile that we would have never thought about asking our contractor. When our contractors opened the palate of tile that was delivered they noticed that it was not enough. Upon investigating, we found that Cancos sent us 367 sq. ft. rather than the 500 sq. ft. we needed. After a brief conversation with Jimmy about what we had expected to receive, he said he would check his notes and get back to me in about an hour. I received a call back in less than half that time and with great honesty he told me that we did indeed discuss an area of 500 sq. ft. and he wasn't sure why the order was put in for only 367 sq. ft. To rectify the situation, Jimmy gave us an additional 140 sq. ft. of tile and a discount on the entire 500 sq. ft. to get us to the total amount we thought we were paying when we agreed to purchase the tile. It is easy to perceive a business as great when everything goes right, but you only know how great a business is when you see how they handle things when things go wrong. In this situation, Jimmy at Cancos did the right thing, and for that they deserve a five star review! read more

Absolutely no idea what they are doing. 1st sales woman had extra things in the quote, double shower body, too much tile and not enough Grout. Not like we didnt spend hours in there going over exactly what we are looking for and also with square footage needed from contractor. Then when we told them were were riping out on 10/29 we were told that the special order vanity would be in the week we were doing construction. After paying in full, because its special order, we were updated that "ohh no, its from Birtch so they only delive once per month so it would be the week after", nice that my contractor is on another job by then. After all this and getting it in i pick up and they have the wrong handles. They say they will ship to me and they only send 1 not the 3 i paid for, then to fix it would be another 5-10 days to get the other two. Now to fix their "miss communication" ie: LIE to get the sale.., we will rush the granite top. So they fit me in to get measured and then take 3 days to hand in measurements so they rush cutting and fit me in for install at 12-4 pm on a Friday 7 days after paperwork handed in and 10 days total, thanks for RUSHIG it, 4:45 and no one here still. I recently need to redo my bathroom and by chance I stopped by Cancos Tile at Westbury without any recommendation. Jimmy was my sales person. He has a deep knowledge of a lot of contractor job items and he had giving a lot of advice to back check the contractor that I hired at my house. The Italian Tile that they are selling is the best quality and material is the best. My contractor quote it. Moreover, they also work as a team. I had short of the tile for my tile during the construction and they did the best to locate it from the other warehouse at NJ for me. People in Westbury and the warehouse are so nice. I had an experience here that compels me to write a 'buyer beware' review. Needing a kitchen backsplash for my newly remodeled kitchen, I decided to make the rounds of local tile stores. I had with me three tumbled travertine 2x4 tiles that I bought on Amazon. They weren't exactly what I was looking for but close. At Cancos I was brusquely told in no uncertain terms that there was nothing like them and even if I found them that they would be prohibitively expensive. Quite the converse actually. The next two tile shops that I visited were able to find me similar tiles and they ordered samples which I had in 24 hours. The price was competitive (prices are easily checked online). I built a new home, so the amount and variety of tiles I needed was rather overwhelming, to say the least. Bathrooms, flooring for several rooms... Elyssa was my sales person for the entire process. She is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and has the patience of a saint! Since both her and I knew my time there would be lengthy, I always made an appointment, and she always gave me her undivided attention during those appointments. She researched things I wanted. It's kind of a mixed bag with this company. They have a nice selection and sales people. Beware of their return policy! We bought our tiles and we were delayed in beginning the work. During the job things changed and we wanted to exchange some tiles and grout for different ones. It was past 30 days. They refused. I was also short tiles on those we kept. They didn't estimate correctly based upon the measurements. They're not cheap. I guess this is why the bigger stores are always crowded. read more

I can't say how nice and helpful Vito was here! I'm the most indecisive person and literally went in three times trying to make up my mind. He was so patient and never pushy at all. Most people would have been frustrated with me at that point but he never gave off that vibe. It even got to the point where he wrote up a whole order sheet for me and then I changed my mind. He let me take Home a tile to compare it to the vanity that I bought to see if I liked the way it looked together. I had such a great experience at Cancos. I had to do a new bathroom floor that matched my excisting gold marble. My salesman Jim helped me pick out an great mosaic with a gold dot that went with my marble. The floor came out beautiful!! And the price was reasonable compared to mosaics at other stores. Don't ever go there. All the Salespeople work on commission and don't want to spend a lot of time helping you because if they think you are not a serious buyer, they are not helpful at all. If you take to long to make up your mind they make rude comments, like "looks like your sister is driving the bus" which was said to me since I could not make up my mind and I brought my sister to help me. And don't whatsoever take a recommendation for a Tile/Bathroom installer because they don't ever care if the person is qualified, If it means that will get a sale they will recommend anyone.
