Since then, we refinished the floor three times with two different companies, but the result got worse and worse, with dirt trapped under the finish, worn areas becoming bigger, and the overall look of the floor has become "dead" with all the beauty of the oak gone. This summer we decided to redo the floor again and I (very fortuitously) found Mike Callahan of Callahan Brothers. That was the beginning of a very smooth "sailing" to perfect floors and more. Mike came to look at the floors and I told him of several other issues we had in the house. For example, we had problems with rain missing the gutters and getting into the house because of the solar panels on the roof. Mike recommended an outstanding gutter company and suggested what needs to be done (install 6" gutters) which completely fixed the problem. Then, Mike suggested a company that packed and moved our furniture out of the house and a painter who repaired the trims after the floor work and did some other repairs. And now to the central issue of how Mike transformed our floors. His crew under the foreman Carlos covered everything in the house with sheets, sanded the floors and stairs, and worked with us to select the stain color that we liked the most. The result was magnificent. The floors came alive like I have never seen before. On top of that, the crew left the house clean and ready to move back in

I contracted with Nick at KO floors to install Red Oak hardwood but he installed White Oak instead…read more He did this without my consent. Red Oak was clearly in my contract and Nick knew the rest of the house was Red Oak. Now it does not match the rest of my Red Oak floors. When I asked him what happened he lied and told me it was a mistake by his distributor however I was informed by one of his employees that Nick used the White Oak wood cause he had it in stock and saved money. Not a nice thing to do to your customer who spent close to 20k with his company. So I would not recommend KO Flooring or Nick to anyone.

He said that he could get the job done in one week and because of the type of wood in our home it would be better to go darker. Along the way there were some hiccups involving the color of the floor and how the floor would stain, but joe did stay in communication with us. HOWEVER Joe is a yes man. He will yes you the death and then when you aren't satisfied he will say "I don't know what else there is to do." I asked for an even dark finish and many of the panels were different colors as you can see in the picture. I had another independent company and one of Joe's employees come look at the floor. Both stated that some steps were missed. The floors are scratching left and right and we will definitely have to get another company to redo the floors. In the end I paid Joe over $3,000 and said the job was fine because it was too much hassle to get him to take accountability. I waited a month just to see if the color would settle in but it didn't. I called joe one last time to get advice and see if there's anything we could do. His response "this doesn't concern me anymore and of course other companies would tell you the floors look bad." While some parts of the home look beautiful other parts look absolutely awful and with all of the scratches we will definitely need to redo the floors.

His estimate was reasonable and his explanation as to how he would tackle the job was excellent. Based on our conversation, we hired Daniel to complete the job while we were away on vacation. Daniel came prior to our departure to prep the job (install flush mount wooden floor grates, replace a door saddle that was broken, etc). On the day we left, Daniel came to move a solid oak table and a large couch that we were unable to move ourselves. There was no additional charge for this service (we removed the remaining furniture from the areas being worked on). Daniel completed the job over a three day period while we were away. After it was completed, our adult son met Daniel to inspect the job and to satisfy the balance due. My son shared pictures of Daniel's workmanship. The floors came out absolutely amazing and unlike the last person who worked on the floors, there were no stains or marks in untreated areas and the cleanup was extraordinary. Daniel and my son also moved the table and couch back into place. We returned from vacation a couple of days ago and got to view the end result was better in person than the pictures conveyed.
