I went here recently for an end of year celebration with about 15 other people. We were seated immediately which was great and we didn't have to worry about finding room for all of us. Thankfully they had a table large enough to fit all of us together. I got a fajita quesadilla loaded with onions and peppers. It was delicious. It came out super hot and fresh and it was hard not to eat it fast. It was very messy but that's to be expected. The service was nice, although the time in between taking our drink orders and food orders was a little long for my liking. They were accommodating with us when we gave our speeches for the group, and even offered us a microphone to us. While it was a nice gesture, they were persistent that we should use it after we told them we did not want to a few times. We went here Saturday night and really were surprised by how affordable and decent the food was. Our server was super nice, bringing us their homemade hot sauce and new frosted glasses. I"ve tried this location 2 times and both times the food wasn't what the menu said it would be. The first time, I ordered the Hot & Spicy Burrito, Nothing hot at all and the only spice you can taste is cumin. The second time, I asked the server what is Molcajete sauce? He said "it's a hot spicy sauce", I said "I'll have the Carne Azteca" This is the menu description: Carne Azteca Carne asada topped with molcajete sauce and queso fundido. Served with rice, beans and tortillas. molcajete sauce = a hot spicy sauce queso fundido = a white cheese sauce The Carne Azteca that I received was covered with salsa verde (Green Sauce) and topped with a sprinkle of shredded white cheese. Nothing hot, nothing spicy and no cheese sauce but I do like Salsa verde, so I ate it but I wouldn't go there again. I would like to update my review. The last time I went to Cancun is when they were located near the Quality Inn (which is now closed). I didn't like the experience I went the last time but thought I would give them one more try. We went on a early Friday evening and shocked that they were super packed at 5:30 PM. The inside was not as huge as their last location but it's still decent. It was a little stuffy but tolerable. Our server was attentive and friendly. Got our drink orders right away. We got the gold top shelf margaritas. Which was excellent BTW. Then a few minutes later we ordered our dinner. I got the 3 Hard shell beef tacos and my Mr. got the Burrito Roqueta. Even though they were super busy, we got our meals in a timely manner. With our meals we ordered another round of Margaritas since they were really good. Loved our dinners. My Mr was impressed with his as well. My only con with the place is that the music was very loud that the customers had to raise their voice to hear themselves. If they turned it down just a notch it wouldn't be as noisy. Other than that, great Mexican joint and I'm glad we gave them another try. I can see ourselves coming back. read more

Sometimes, you just want good Mexican food within a short driving distance. My go-to is typically El Jinete, but my lady suggested stopping by here one day, and I was up for it. Overall, I'm glad we went, because the experience was pretty good... If only the music wasn't so loud. We stopped by around 5:30pm, and it was already pretty busy, both for dine in and carry out. Made sense since we were just in time for happy hour. Our server, Salvador, was definitely friendly and very attentive. We started with two gold top shelf margaritas and the usual chips and salsa. All were pretty solid and tasty. As for our meals, my lady ordered three crunchy ground beef tacos, while I went for the burrito roqueta (and another round of margaritas). The wait wasn't long at all, even though it was busy, and we really enjoyed all our food. Still, it was a bit tough for us to talk to each other because the music was loud. It was easier when there was a break between songs. All in all, our experience here was very good, though I'd prefer if the music were turned down a notch (especially during the curious latin cover of Snow's "Informer"). Would I go back? awful experience, used to be one of our favorite spots. last time ate there had been mourning the loss of our child. the server decided to charge us nearly $90 for two entrees and 2 drinks. Since they had taken it upon themselves to include a tip into the bill I saw no reason to contribute additiona. They filled in an additional $60 on the tip line.. Cancun is like a lot of other Mexican restaurants, but that's what I like about it because I know what to expect! Our service was great, our order came out quick and hot, and you get a lot of food for the price. I came here on a Saturday evening and it must have been happy hour because my husband and I were both surprised when we got the bill and saw his margarita cost only $3.99! (It was around 6:30pm when we were there). So that was a nice surprise! We had a slight snafu when we went up to the counter to pay - we had a coupon on our phone but they only accept printed coupons, but the woman working the register allowed us to use the mobile coupon anyway, which was really nice. Pretty typical of the quantity-trumps-quality mindset that characterizes some of the Mexican mini-chains in the Cincinnati area, Cancun defines the phrase "run of the mill." But would you expect much more of a restaurant that names itself after a beach resort that was basically developed to cater to American tourists? If you're happy with the combo-plate Amercanized Mexican mini-chains like El Rancho Grande and Rio Grande that dot the local scene, you'll probably be happy with Cancun, too. (And you'll be even happier if you value huge calorie counts for small of amounts of money and don't care if those calories just aren't all that great-tasting.) But if you want something a little more adventurous, authentic, or ambitious, you probably won't be so happy at Cancun. Exhibit A: chicken fajitas. They just weren't executed with much care. The chicken was haphazardly chopped, with some occasional gristle and small pieces that were really overcooked. Not much seasoning. And there wasn't very much of it proportionately. Onions were cooked down into a nearly flavorless mush, whereas the green peppers were undercooked and too crisp by contrast. Tortillas were kinda gummy. Pico de gallo was sorta pallid, although the presence of some minced jalapenos was a plus. But it was a lot of food for the money, even with the bad chicken-to-veggies ratio. The overall effect was still pretty satisfying, but this dish sure could use more punch and freshness. The salsa is relatively fresh-tasting, but as Bill E. says, a little heat would help. Service has been friendly enough, but it's also rather inattentive over a couple of visits. The restaurant is colorful, but also so huge and barn-like that it seems like any festive atmosphere might get swamped by the sheer size of the place. The salsa we were given tasted like pasta sauce. Worst salsa I've had at a mexican restaurant. The soda was totally flat. Server was notified about the soda quickly, but a new one wasn't brought out until we were nearly done eating, and that one was ALSO flat! The tv right behind us was airing a race, which meant listening to revving engine sounds all throughout our meal. The entrees were alright and service was friendly, but in the end we spent $40 on an awful experience and as a result our moods were ruined for an hour after we left. I got fajitas and they were tasty. I'm not a huge fan of the guac, it seems less fresh / less chunky and more "we just ran this through a food processor". However, their drinks - specifically margaritas- are very good. And cheap, too! You can buy a pitcher for $25 bucks! If you come here after 9pm on a Thursday, brace yourself for some good 'ole Norwood fun. The crowd is quite unique and the karaoke is not elitist, but it does provide for some knee slapping good times. But I wasn't sure what I was craving, so the Acapulco Special for me it was! It was a mix of steak and chicken and shrimp, and veggies and guac, and even fajita wraps if i wanted them! Perfect for my I-don't-know-what-the-heck-i-want tummy. It. Was. A-freakin-mazing! even the bf's food was really good. The margarita's were incredibly low priced, and incredibly strong as well! I was thinking about docking it a star maybe a half, as the server wasn't around as much as I'd have liked during the meal, but then 1. Horrible experience here. I understand that Cinco De Mayo is a very busy day but this was ridiculous. We ordered from Cancun via Doordash at 5:15pm on Cinco De Mayo and the food was supposed to be delivered anytime from 7:45-8:15pm. We figured we would have a delay but by 8:15, no food. We had the app so we could tell our Doordasher was at the restaurant (and had been for 15 minutes). Our Doordasher (who was awesome and waited for almost an hour during this whole ordeal) called us and told us that the restaurant was running an hour behind. We figured that was the case, no big deal. At 8:40, she called us again and told us that Cancun was refusing to make any order that had been placed after 5pm that day. So basically, we waited for almost 4 hours after we ordered and the restaurant had no plans to let us know that nothing was coming. Never again. read more

I will begin by saying I didn't make it to actually place my order. I went in right after the lunch special ended. It was my first time at any of the locations. I say an ad in the reach magazine and thought I would give it a try since in the mood for Mexican food. It is located in a convenient location. I went in and only saw one person working. I wanted until he came up to the front. I started I needed to place an order. He then asked if I had called an order in. I explained that I was new to restaurant, he asked if I knew what I wanted. I shared that I want familiar with the menu. He then points to the base area and tells me to grab a menu over there. There happened to be another customer who came in after me so she pointed me in the area that he was taking about. As I looked over the menu to things happened. The first is the customer was placing an order that she said she usually gets, cheese dip, and was told that the chips were extra. She explained she had been in the week prior and they were included. He told her no, it was extra. She then asked for the manager and he indicated that he was the manager. She then got on the phone with a friend to verify their last experience. As I was reviewing the menu the second thing I noticed was a .35c charge for each carry out meal. Being that I was getting a few, I decided not to make a purchase. The poor customer service and cost for carry out ordered was a huge turn off. The manager really lacked customer service skills. I love me some good, cheap Mexican food and Cancun is no exception! I went to Cancun for the first time when it was inside the hotel down the street. The location was kind of shady, so I was glad to hear they had located to a better part of the 'hood inside the strip mall next to Chipotle and Marshall's (two of my greatest loves). The decor is exactly the same -- bright colors and bulky carved chairs. There are also a few TVs if you're interested in tuning into a local sporting event. Like most Mexican restaurants, the menu is VERY overwhelming (not that it matters because the only thing I ever order is a taco salad), but the best part of any Mexican restaurant, in my opinion, is the margaritas. El Toro (in Hyde Park Plaza) is very near and dear to my heart, so they had a lot to live up to as far as quality of margs go. I'm happy to report they are up to my standards. In fact, the variety of options may actually surpass that of El Toro. My mind was blown on my last visit when I was informed they "brought back" a WINE MARGARITA (!!!) You guessed right: a mini bottle of wine dumped into a frozen marg. Talk about combining two of my greatest loves! My boyfriend, who isn't much of a wine drinker, ordered the beer margarita and they were the perfect "his and her" margaritas. This place has always been a solid choice when I'm craving a margarita, and secondly want something to eat. They recently moved this location (just a block). I must admit that I miss the old location. It used to be attached to a hotel (vacant), so I understand why they moved. It was sort of a sketchy location, but the restaurant was always clean. It was big and dimly lit like a bar. Maybe too big. The new location is in the Kroger plaza. It's only a fraction of the size of the old location. Totally different atmosphere. The new location is way too bright inside, and the tables are crammed in there pretty close to one another. Overall, I think it was a smart move for them though. They were really busy! Being next to Kroger makes them more visible. I asked the cashier how long they have been in the new location. After completing the Flying Pig 5K today a few members of our walking group decided to celebrate at Cancun. One of the members of the group raved about their margaritas so I'm always up for a good margarita. We were seated right away and our server took our drink orders right away, I went with a small frozen margarita, which arrived ice cold and was as good as the member of our group recommended. We were given chips & salsa, which we quickly ate as we were hungry from the race, but when we were ready to order we couldn't find anyone to take care of us. After a few minutes we finally found our server, the restaurant was not busy at all, so we weren't sure where he went. Once our food arrived, it was served hot, two friends selected taco salad's which looked pretty good, another friend had a bean and cheese burrito, and another a chicken chimichanga. I went with speedy Gonzalez , chicken soft taco, cheese enchilada and black beans. The black beans were flavorful, but the chicken taco was okay, I've had better and the cheese enchilada was terrible, nothing to it. I've had this lunch time dish at other Mexican restaurants in town and was much better. Finally after we were done eating and ready for our checks, again we could not find our server at all, a member of our group had to find someone and ask for the check. read more
