Came after lunch time wth my son. Place was very slow. Ordered a chicken chimichanga, but it was beef instead. Waiter acted distant and that he could get a chicken chimi & I OK 'd it. No apologies. Went to my car to make a quick call because the music was loud even outside. The 2nd order was there when I got back. After eating about two bites, I realized there was a bone in the chimi - about 2-1/2" long and I became upset. We asked for the waiter, he finally came but went to check us out 1st. When I asked politely to see the manager, he walked away and came back said "he's gone..." I pointed the bone on the plate to him and I said that "it could have punctured my throat", he said "I could write it off" and I asked if there's anything else. He said "I'll take it off the bill" No apologies. Then he blamed it on the kitchen. After that, I told my son I was gonna wait in the car. Later the waiter pointed on menu to my son that "small chicken bone or pieces...might be present." He told him "It was a big bone!" This was my favorite restaurant and ate there often. They were able to accommodate a last minute group of 13 people after bowling on a Friday night. They gave us chips and salsa right away - the salsa was very basic without much seasoning/taste. Usually this is one of our favorite place but lately on the weekends not so much. The queso which is the main reason we love to go, was basically watered down that it has no taste at all and very very runny. We even ordered extra bowls to see if it was an accident but it wasn't. The queso made the food that it comes on taste pretty bad. We were only allowed one bowl of chips. Maybe it was because we were leaving they charged us for them. Our waitress was nice but it was hard to find her when needed and it wasn't crowded. Sorry but the guys are much better here. I've been here a ton of times but it's been a while. Not the authentic Mexican food I am used to but the food was good. The margaritas were even better. I ordered a pitcher to be shared between two people. I didn't realize how lit I was until the next morning. They have an outdoor patio with seating and redesigned the interior so that you can see into the bowling alley the restaurant is attached to. I have been here several times and every time it is great! This Mexican restaurant is by far my favorite in the Midwest. Over the years I have eaten at this restaurant dozens of times and not once have I had an issue that I can recall. I am reposting this review partly because in my opinion this is the best Mexican restaurant out there and I think you all should try it out but also because I found a new favorite item on their menu!! **Pina Colada Marg** holy cow it's amazing both on the rocks and frozen. Not too sweet and just absolutely perfect. I can't believe this has been sitting under my nose all these years and I've never ordered it. So good!! Also - they have recently opened 3 new locations, one is in Newport on the Levy in the old Don Pablo's on the river and overlooks downtown Cincy. The other two locations are in Forest Park and Crescent Springs. If you go to the Glenway location (which I believe is one of their first locations) you can sit in the dining room that has a western theme or the bar area which is more contemporary. The restaurant is connected to the bowling alley but don't let that stop you from checking out this gem. Once you're in the restaurant you will forget the bowling alley is even there. Great spot for a date night or family night out with kids. Dinner and bowling or vice versus. The menu is HUGE with lots of combination and margarita flavors at fair prices. They also have a kids menu with standard American items as well. Tip: go during the week between 3-6 to catch their happy hour to score half price margaritas and all other drinks! I typically order the pollo a la Cancun which is a specialty item specific to Cancun Mexican Restaurants. It's similar to the classic arroz con pollo dish most Mexican restaurants have but with Cancun's own creative twist. They add grilled onions, zucchini and chorizo to the dish which makes this dish an absolute star! My husband almost always gets the chicken or steak fajitas and has never left disappointed or with an empty stomach. The portion size of both these meals is huge! read more

I cannot lie. This place is great. They actually have two locations, both on Glenway, and both equally tasty. This is the original and is attached to the bowling alley. Everything on the menu is delish and the menu is extensive-a lunch menu, combo platters, and entrees separated according to meat. If you are a vegetarian, I highly recommend the quesadilla, bean burrito, and tostada. The rice is actually flavorful, and the queso dip is outta this world! Go for the house margarita on the rocks- great lime flavor and STRONG! The service is fast and friendly. Entree's come out in about 5-10 minutes and are always on the world's hottest plates. While you wait, take your time with the chips and salsa-you don't wanna fill up too much, because the portions are ample. In all the years they have been in operation, it has stayed consistent and tasty. The inside of the restaurant is a bit dark-low lighting and dark walls, and the front door/pay area is a bit of a bottleneck, so I would love to see a renovation, but that won't keep me from stopping in for that tasty tasty queso. read more

It's hard to find the famous Barzone on the menu these days at Mexican restaurants so my husband and I were pretty excited when we saw it. We closed our menus right away and the decision was mutual and final. It's so huge you must split it. It's a burrito filled with chicken and steak, beans and rice, topped with chorizo, pineapple, and shrimp. Amazing is nothing short of IT for this must try burrito. The flavors really mesh. We ordered a side of guacamole and the accompanying tortillas were piping hot. Soo good! It was nice to have such good quality food from a Mexican restaurant. We may have found a new favorite place! Dining out alone is a new experience for me. I started to get carry out, but decided to dine in. My family use to come here twice a month years ago and we loved our servers. They knew that we were interested in learning Spanish and each time we dined.. they served us using English and Spanish. The food was always amazing... very consistent. But over time we became more diet conscious and our trips to Cancun decreased. Today I decided to visit alone, in hopes that the smiles we'd come to enjoy would enhance my dining experience. I was more observant today. Taking in all of the improvements that have been made in the building since we were regulars. I was greeted by a very warm smile and felt good to be 'home'. I always ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla... And it was ALWAYS amazing. But today, I wanted to try something different. I asked my server for a recommendation and he didn't disappoint. I ordered his favorite dish and I really enjoyed it. My food was delivered by another server. He left it, but didn't seem to be happy to do so. I figured I'd wait for my server to ask for extra napkins. Ten minutes passed and no one came to check on me. I realized that I had headphones on so I removed them immediately. I kinda wanted a little bit of conversation. Ten minutes more pass... Now I'm disappointed. No one cares if my drink needs to be refilled. Nobody cares if I like my food. I wanted some pico di gallo but didn't want to bother the grumpy server. Five more minutes pass and up pops my server. He was the nicest guy... why did he disappear? Is everything okay, can I get you anything? I requested a box and a check. He brought them immediately and proclaimed that he'd drawn me a flower. It was nice.. But is that what he was doing instead of serving me? I boxed my delicious food up and went on my way. The hostess/cashier asked how my food was and I shared my disappointment with her. She said she'd talk to him. All in all, the food was amazing (as usual). I'll come back with others... but not alone. This is usually a 5 star experience, but not today. We've been to the other location in Glenway crossing and for some reason the salsa is different and food is different. The food is served in large portions and always super fresh! The new Chicken Tortilla Soup is very good! Comes in a large bowl and more than enough for a meal. My husband orders chicken quesadillas and they are the size of the plate so one is plenty enough for one. The interior can be a bit cold and underlit but it is a great place to come with your family and the bar area is pretty big and from there you can see the bowling alley. In particular, the things that I used to look forward to, like chips and salsa, Spanish rice and refried beans all seem to lack flavor. I took one bite of each and it tasted like absolutely nothing. The salsa was really runny and also lacked spice. The service is generally friendly and fast. We requested a bottle of hot sauce and the server was unable to provide. Although it's a 50 mile drive, I still like to go here a few times a year. I have been there when it was both empty and full, and I have never had a problem with service. Menu is copious, prices are very good - once you see the portions! I have never finished a meal without taking something home in a box. Pros: Happy Hour, patio, good food, great prices, quick service. (liter margaritas - bring a designated driver!) Cons: Booths can be tight... Staff likes to cluster guests together, but will move you if you ask. This is an observation, not a criticism, of the establishment: there are sometimes larger groups, sometimes with children - it has gotten loud. Like many other westsiders I use to come here all the time. Raved about how good it was to my friends. The whole deal. That was 5 years ago when the staff was friendly and food quality was spot on. Now I don't know what the deal is with this place. Is it under new ownership or something? This place did a total 180 on me in less than a years time. I dunno I'm not really here all that often.... UHHHHH.... I'll leave a note for the manager." Wait so you ARN'T the real manager!? I had to just laugh throw my hands in the air and give up on this place at that point. I want to preface that I hate giving bad reviews. Unlike some reviewers, when I rate 1-star, I most sincerely mean it and it takes a truly terrible experience for someone to receive 1-star. We went to Cancun Mexican Restaurant for my friends 25th birthday party. The main attraction: what was called "the best margarita in Cincinnati." Bonus, it comes in a pitcher. I'll start with the one good thing about this restaurant - the service was good. That's it. The rest of our experience was miserable at best. We all ordered a bunch of food. I got one of the combo deals. The food came out and literally looked like mush. By the time I was halfway through my taco, I forgot what kind of meat I had ordered in it, because nothing resembled anything edible. My friend's meals were similar. Most of us got food poisoning that night. I, unlike my friends, did not drink more than a few sips of the margarita (more on that later...) but since those of us who weren't drinking and a few that were, were sick as a dog the next day, we could only point to our food for the evening. Concerning many of the other reviews that this food is "authentic Mexican," this is far from it. I've had more "authentic" Mexican when I lived in New Hampshire. This is about as slapstick as you can get for a Mexican restaurant trying to pose as "authentic." It isn't a Taco Bell, but it's sure far from any of the truly authentic Mexican I've had in my life. Finally, the margarita. My friends ordered two pitchers to split between 8 people. Both margaritas were of a disgusting tinge. One was a murky greenish brown (I'm figuring they used gold tequila) and the second was almost as brown as gold tequila, but once again more murky. Aesthetically to the eyes, they were disgusting. Nevertheless, I myself had to try them a little - because I wanted to know if they were good margaritas since I love them so much. The best way to describe it: it was like they took the worst gold tequila possible and squeezed a lime into a handle, and put it on the rocks. It tasted of really poor quality tequila, and I have a tolerance for really bad tequila - this was just poor. There was no distinct taste of margarita mixers of any kind in there. I've had a handful of bad margaritas before, including one night at a dive bar, but this was hands down the worst one I've ever had. With myself and my friends getting very sick the next day and the poor quality of fare, they could have made my meal free - heck, they could have given me a $50 dollar gift card, and I wouldn't step my foot in that door again. It was quite honestly, the worst restaurant experience, including every fast-food joint, I've had in the past 5 years. read more

If you like margaritas this is your place. They don't hold back on the tequilla. KAPOW! The food here is really good as well, I've eaten here a dozen times over the last year and have never been dissatisfied with my meal at all. A couple of standouts are the seafood dish that's served in a hollowed out pineapple (forget the name) and the Cancun special taco salad which includes several different kinds of meats. Did I mention the margaritas are strong? Oh, the two bad things about this place is that the parking sucks. Between the restaurant being crowded and the bowling alley, it's sometimes ridiculous. The second thing is the noise level. The only restaurant I've ever been in that's louder than this one is Buca Di Beppos. As far as I'm concerned there is only one Cancun in the world and it isn't in Mexico. Its next to Western Bowl. Ill admit it definitely has some draw backs. The bathrooms are strangely dark as is the restaurant. The décor is odd but I guess some what Mexican. Also the lay out of the place make no sense. Most of the workers seem to be of Latino descent so I guess that adds to the Mexican feel. But the service is friendly the food is good and the portions are huge. And the drinks are great! The margaritas are the best in not only Cincinnati, but the best I've ever had ANYWHERE If you have a liter of margaritas you better use Uber, find a cab the old fashioned way, have a DD, or head into Western Bowl and bowl while you sober up 2. If you want the best service ask for Alfredo in the dining room area or Christine in the bar area. You will be served perfectly and if you start going there frequently they will remember you and you will get amazing service then. 3. I've nearly memorized the menu and it has been updated recently, but my go to is the Chicken and Chorizo Jalisco Special. It's basically a flour tortilla topped with chicken, chorizo, cheese, peppers, and onions. It has a side of rice, pica de galo, and guacamole. It's as good as it gets. 4. I've eaten here about 600 times since it opened in 2001. I like food so I probably wouldn't have made it to 10 visits if it wasn't good and the service wasn't up to par. 5. I would actually probably cry a few tears if they ever closed this place. I don't cry often! 6. Seriously just come here for some good food, strong margaritas, and tell them Sean sent you. I've heard the best Mexican food in the world is on the west side. Well, I haven't really heard that, and if I had I don't think it would have been in reference to Cancun. Actually, the food itself was ok, it's just that I've had better. The beer prices were higher than expected. I got the 22 or 24oz can't remember which for $6. At other Mexican restaurants I get 32oz for that price ($5 during happy hour). Maybe because it's attached to the bowling alley they charge more, who knows. The service was pretty good.
