Unfortunately they use flour rather than corn starch in their enchilada sauce. Friendly server was able to help with figuring out what could be served gluten free. So I've been to this restaurant before and enjoyed my amazing burrito banzai. Went a second time just for chips and salsa and it was disappointing. The food was good but for almost 5 bucks for a tiny small bag and a sample cup was a rip!! Plus to add insult to injury the top was not secured and spilled in the bag. I noticed that if your not careful your bill can add up. The appetizer and sides seem to be pricey. So good! Just watch the prices!! read more

I came here as I saw some good reviews thinking it couldn't be too bad. When we arrived, the host asked how many & replied "two". He grabbed 2 menus and started walking so we followed, hoping we were supposed to. He put the menus on the table and walked away. I think there should've been some communication or some sort of "bon appetit", perhaps? We ordered burritos, margarita & beer. The beer was cold & margarita was tasty & not lacking tequila ;) Our server was unlike most servers, in that, she had no personality, smile... almost robotic. I usually order beef tacos but their menu only offers hamburger meat as "beef". Just going to say that hamburger isn't an authentic Mexican food item. I ordered the Burrito Mexicano which was carnitas with tomato & bell peppers. It was mostly big chunks of tomatoes & bell pepper, so I was disappointed. I don't get joy out of negative reviews but felt obligated to let others know, in case they see 4 stars and have high expectations. If you want a drink, this your place. This is a great little Mexican Cantina. I've never had a bad meal here. Their margaritas are tasty, the Negro Modelo is always ice cold and served in a frosted mug and the service is impeccable, delivered with a genuine smile. These folks are all about your comfort. I highly reccomend the Antonio's Special with pineapple and poblano peppers! The house salsa is some if the best I have ever tasted, including what I have had south of the border. If you are a soccer (fuuuuutballlll) fan, this is a great place to watch a match, especially if you want to better understand the game. read more

The food is ok. I got nachos once and they were a mess. I also got a taco salad once, very bland. The ground beef is not seasoned.

One of my favorite places to come with my friends. The staff is friendly and I've grown with them and now they see me too often. The margaritas are great tasting and strong. If you don't have a buzz after just one, maybe you have a problem :) I also am a huge fan of the queso but they always call it 'cheese dip' instead. The chips and salsa are typically to your table before you can even get settled. Which is another one of my favorites. I admit the place does kind of come off as something that would be a little sketchy, but once you get to know the staff and the way the food is prepared you will look past that. It quickly became a weekly spot for me. I have tried various things on the menu but the beef soft tacos or the cancun quesadilla are the best things. If you don't get a margarita you might not enjoy the place as much. read more

I've been to two locations around town. One location I got the Acapulco burrito with pork and the other location I got two beef tacos. Both places I got guacamole. Guac was very different between the two locations which was odd but both good. Pork burrito was soooo good. Tacos were mediocre. Definitely worth trying if in the mood for something particular. Server also didn't ask if I wanted hard or soft tacos (my daughter likes soft) and brought out all hard. Will I go back? Probably but I'll stick to the specialty items. read more

We went there for the first time last week during Happy Hour for $2 beers & some food. We were immediately greeted with chips & salsa. The appetizers are huge so we split the Nachos Cancun. Made with beef & chicken it was great (chicken had great flavor!) except I would've liked the guacamole to be tastier. it was bland and mainly just avocado or i would've given 5 stars. We went early on a Tuesday evening & only about 10 other people in the restaurant area. Nice colors, and might be quiet place as we noticed the dropped down ceiling tiles for sound absorption ( painted a nice rich green color as opposed to ugly plain white) and a carpeted floor. There was nice decor between tables & a mural on the wall in the room we were in and plenty of windows yet soft lighting for 5pm. The service was great and there was no way we could've eaten a meal after splitting the one appetize between us, but we tend not to be huge eaters. I'd heard good things about this place from my eye doctor & brother & SiL and they were correct. We will be back and I will see if the guacamole on the nacho's has more zip to it! read more

I feel like I've grown up here with a 2nd family who just happens to be Mexican. Over time, the cozy location has expanded into the area next door to it to accommodate more patrons, but the feel of the place has not changed. The staff is generally very friendly and attentive. When I lived in Forest Park during high school and college, the servers would practice the "conversational Spanish" I was learning in my classes with me. This is just speaking to the staff and the atmosphere... watch out when I start raving about the food. It's by far my favorite place in the city to get chicken fajitas. The MASSIVE amount of food that you get is too much for one person to eat (usually) and I always end up taking some home or leaving some behind! I have never gotten anything at Cancun that I didn't instantly want more of... some other day, because whoa, so full. ;) The margaritas are delicious, and sneakily strong. More than once, I have had to drive someone home afterwards because they underestimated the power. ;) The prices are extremely reasonable. If anyone asks where to get good Mexican food, this is ALWAYS the first place I mention. read more

The family that runs this place is so incredibly nice and welcoming. They've got friendly service, probably the best Mexican food I've had in the Cincinnati area, and even on a Friday night can seat you without a wait usually. The Ismael special and Chicken Chimichangas are the best. read more

The Fajita Quesadilla is fantastic!! It comes out with a hardened, crispy, cooked shell and is loaded with chicken, onions, grilled bell peppers, tomatoes, and delicious queso sauce. You will have to search for it if you are coming for dinner as the dish is only listed on the lunch menu. The chips are crispy and warm. If you like spicier sauce, be sure to ask for it with your free chips. The margaritas are huge, but if you are a beer drinker, be prepared for classic mexican brew. Parking is easy in their appropriately sized lot right out front. All in, nothing super fancy here, just delicious Mexican food. read more

Updated info. I went with a good friend and the drink had salt on the rim and they asked for no salt. What do they do they wipe the salt off and give her the drink back. Of course this added salt to a drink. Told them to take it back. And did not order another drink as who knows what they would of not or would have put in it. This was sad as I removed he two limes and you could see the salt under them. This was poor. After this simple exchange it tells me that they don't care. How upsetting this was to the meal. The margaritas are very good as well, and the cups for the fountain drinks are humongous, so you probably won't need a refill. The service was extremely fast as well! Just finally ate here for the first time ever, after having lived, worked, and partied nearby for most of my life. It didn't disappoint! We had a late lunch/early dinner around 3:30 on a Saturday, and there were a few people, but not many. The place was clean and pleasant - the cheesy "Mexican restaurant" decor wasn't too overdone. We really like the food at this restaurant, and have gotten carry out quite a few times in the past 6 months since we moved here. However, we have not been able to consistently get what we order. Out of maybe six times we have gotten carry out, 3-4 of them were missing at least one dinner. One of the times we did get the right order, I insisted that they take everything out of the bag and show me it was all there. This past time, I asked them to please label the boxes so we could be sure, since there were 7 of us after a funeral. But they refused. And, as often happens, one of the meals was missing, and we had to share all around so everyone had something. It's very disappointing and frustrating. But I think we are going to have to find another Mexican restaurant. read more

Cancun is consistently the best option for Mexican food on the west side of Cincinnati. Been that way for years now and believe me I have tried them all. Is it "Gourmet Mexican" (is there such a thing?) No sorry it's just old fashioned stick to your bones Mexican that goes well with a frozen margarita pitcher after a hard day at work. Fast friendly service, spacious low noise level seating, cheap as can be for the large portion and meat quality, and best of all it's just flat out delicious. To start with, the food is decent. I wasn't very adventurous on my visit, but I had the chicken taco salad. It met the expectations for a chicken taco salad. I was with a large group of coworkers who also really seemed to enjoy what they ordered for dinner. That being said, service was sub par.
