We attended the Candlelight Concert: The Best of Joe Hisaishi at the Phoenix Art Museum. Joe creates most of the film scores for the Studio Ghibli films by director Hayao Miyazaki. Our family has loved watching these films for quite some time now so we were excited to hear the music performed live by a string quartet. Of course, the huge draw here is to watch these musicians perform surrounded by dozens and dozens of candles. The ambiance you feel when entering the room is very calming and zen. Honestly, I think they could have done a little better- maybe had more candles lifted off the ground or had them more artfully arranged. Also for the price of admission I wish the artists would have played longer. Those two gripes aside, the quartet who played was fantastic. They were skilled musicians who were very enthusiastic. I really enjoyed the experience overall and am a little surprised by the large number of poor reviews. My husband and I sat back and enjoyed the musical journey through our favorite movies like "My Neighbour Totoro" and "Spirited Away." Candlelight Concerts offers many other themes such as Tribute to Coldplay, Music from Lord of the Rings, 80's Rock Anthems - pretty much whatever you're into. I went to Rock Orchestra (Candlelight Concerts by Fever) on 12/8/2025 at the Luhr's Center in Shippensburg, and it also happened to be their last show of 2025 -- which felt fitting because they absolutely went out with a bang. This show was longer (about 90 minutes) and WAY more theatrical than another Candlelight Concert by Fever I've attended. Full transparency: at times the theatrics leaned a bit extra for me (I caught myself thinking "okay, we get it!"), but honestly? It was still really fun and made the whole experience super memorable. The music was beautifully choreographed, the transitions were tight, and everything felt really well-timed and intentional. Nothing dragged, nothing felt sloppy -- just solid production all around. And let's talk about the standout moment for me: "Chop Suey!" by System of a Down. When I tell you it was ON POINT -- I mean chills. Absolute chef's kiss. For $86 a ticket, I 100% felt like I got my money's worth. Ninety minutes, great musicians, strong production, and a totally different kind of concert experience than your typical night out. I'd definitely go again. Also -- stage décor was phenomenal. The candles + lighting + drama? Yes. It really pulled the whole thing together. If you like rock, orchestral twists, and a little theatrical flair (or a lot of it), this is worth checking out. Hartford, CT- I didn't know I could review a Candlelight Concert! I think your experience will depend on location and what kind of entertainment you enjoy. I've been to a couple of shows and the initial venue was not great with very limited candles. This review is for the show at Unitarian Society of Hartford, it was beautiful. I was there for the Tribute to Adele so I made sure to dress to impress and get a seat in section A towards the front. Even with the sections, this event is obviously first come first serve so I was there early enough to get my photos and get in line. A big pet peeve of mine is someone being in line and not having their tickets ready to be scanned...then the email searching, bad signal, UGH. Since there were so many people struggling with tickets, the show started 20 minutes late. Once the Havenwood Quartet came on stage they announce photos and vids could be taken. I've always known that to be an issue but was surprised they changed the policy...turns out they didn't. Throughout the entire show the staff kept running through the crowd to tell everyone to put their phones down. It was such a disturbance - I think at that point they should have let it go. I didn't know Candlelight did photos after, maybe I've always missed the announcement but $25 for the pictures I saw people getting taken- not worth it!! Me and my friends made sure to squeeze to the front right after our show and get photos on our phones. Overall a good time for a date night or different experience but you have to actually enjoy the arts to appreciate the moment. read more

I bought 4 tickets as a holiday gift for our friends to see the Hans Zimmer show at the Immanuel Presbytarian Church in Koreatown. We had dinner first and because the restaurant was so slow, we were exactly 9 minutes late arriving to the venue. If you've ever been to Koreatown, you know that parking is nightmarish too. As soon as we walked up to the building, the not-so-nice security guard pointed to the sign stating no late entry. He would not let us in, even between songs or at an intermission. I've been to quite a few musical and theatrical performances in my life and have NEVER heard of this. I've even been to another Fever Candlelight concert (Radiohead at the Skirball Center) and soooo many people were late.... ushers would just hold them at the entrance until that song/set was over and then lead them to their seats. I really don't know what this policy accomplishes besides making guests never want to attend a Fever Candlelight concert again. I'm out almost $200 and we were disappointed that we couldn't have the fun night we planned for months (our friends had to drive from the OC and Long Beach and needed to arrange child care too). A strict, extreme policy like this needs to be wayyyyy more prominent than in the fine print, before and after purchasing. I'm bummed because I really liked the Radiohead show, but after this experience and how venue staff and Fever customer service did not give a single shit, I can't recommend these shows to anyone. read more

Came here for date night last night to watch a concert honoring Luis Miguel. The venue was located at the Phoenix Art Museum and entry was super easy. The doors open 45 minutes prior show time and it is emphasized that you cannot come in 5 minutes late. However multiple people were late and thus our show was about 5-10 minutes late. The show was beautiful and absolutely perfect for dates or if you just wanted to enjoy a night of music! There were drinks being sold at the concession stand but I did not see food. It is an hour long but it does fly by quickly! I thoroughly enjoyed the talented musicians and thought it was a beautiful tribute to a music legend. read more

Absolutely SCAM. San Jose, CA. Scott's Seafood Ballroom. Arrived 45 min early, had a mediocre $20 warm glass of wine, hubby and son had soda and paid $5 for a cheap slice and bake cookie in a baggie that someone made in the back. BAIT and SWITCH seating. The online seating showed a square formation, but in person it was a flat , one sided configuration, with artists shoved up against a wall. People literally went on their hands and knees, crawling to the front, to get pictures and video during the last segment. HOT AF inside. 600 people, one tiny ass room, and ONE elevator that holds 10 people to exit. WTF. Fire hazard, and claustrophobic. We left before the end , when they announced "one extra song" , with many others, and had to descend a 7 story fire emergency staircase filled with urine. The staff were complete bumbling idiots, there were maybe 2 feet deep of LED cheap Shein quality Halloween flickering candles , and we paid $10 with our tickets for some random dude to take a fuzzy iPhone photo, which they had as a cheap Polaroid on the table when we left. The musicians were really trying to be top of their game, but were OUT OF TUNE, one had their bow almost break and half-dropped it mid performance. They said between pieces it was their first time at this venue. The acoustics are HORRIBLE with this seating. We were in Section B, 5 rows back, and the cheap amplifiers provided were like a backyard teenage outdoor concert from 1990. SAVE YOUR $50, and go see a high school or local community performance instead. read more

I had bought the insurance thinking that it would protect my tickets, butl I ended up finding out that no they would not give me a refund or transfer my tickets to a different date. Parthenon in Nashville The staff that directed us where to go only waved in a general direction and told us to follow the people in front of us. They were lost, and therefore we were lost. Eventually we found the way there after walking around the whole lower floor. The seating was way too cramped and we were shoulder to shoulder with other attendees so it was very uncomfortable. The seats weren't staggered so you could only see the back of other peoples' heads. The performers probably should've been raised higher also so people could see them. Many attendees were talking all through the performance and the staff did nothing. The staff themselves were talking amongst themselves loudly so all this was very distracting. When the performers were speaking about what each song was, the microphones or speakers weren't working so we could barely hear what they said. The music and performance itself was great, it was everything else that had issues. read more

BLUF: musicians were excellent. Venue prep and oraganization lacking. A group of us went for a concert called "Rings and Dragons" at the MLK Library in DC. Music was from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. First things first, they will not let people in late. I can understand this, as they don't want to disturb the show or the musicians, it's but something to be aware of. Second, if you have a group and want to sit together, get there early, but not too early. They won't let you in more than 30 min ahead of time, so get there 30 min ahead of time. Otherwise be prepared to spread your group around in ones and twos. The music was by a group called the Bluestone Orchestra (or maybe Bluestone ensemble, something with that name). They were great. The venue was lacking. First, it was very warm in there. Most of us were sweating. Second, and this was the biggest issue for me, it looked nothing like the ads would lead you to believe. The ads show ornate sets in an intimate atmosphere, where you are close to the performers and bathed in the same candleight. No such thing here: it was an auditorium and unles you were front two rows nothing at all intimate about it. Yes there were a lot of candles on the floor, but nothing beyond that. If you look at some ads, there were ornate backdrops and so on. Nope. Also, this venue had two huge windows above the stage, which let in a LOT of light, and pretty much made the "candlelight" concert into a "concert with a lot of light and some candles on the ground." Don't understand why they couldn't have blocked out those windows to some extent. I get the impression the experience at other venues may have been better, but this one soured me on going to another DC Candlelight concert, or any other event sponsored by Fever read more

I was really looking forward to attending the candlelight concert with my family at the Bell Tower at 34th st. in Houston, TX. We arrived 30 minutes early, only to find that regular parking was nearly impossible--maybe 20 spots in total--so valet was the only option and it was a long wait. Will get back to it later. Upon entering the moderately sized lobby, we had to check in. Several bars were set up, but drinks were pricey--$18 for a cocktail! The usher guided us to our seating area in zone B (and f you can call it that) and unfortunately, the room wasn't very large. The chairs were set up on a flat floor, not stadium-style, so when a very tall man sat in front of me, my view was completely blocked. We also paid $10 for a candlelight photo, but the experience was disappointing. The staff member snapped just two quick shots on her iPhone, and both turned out poorly--our eyes were closed, and no retakes were allowed. Really? The podium was enough to fit the quartet with candlelight center piece and around the podium. That was it for the candlelights besides where the photos are taken. The quartet played Vivaldi Four Seasons for an hour. I nodded off for a bit . I should have stayed home and listen to Vivaldi on my phone and would have had a better experience. When the event was over we all had to line up to get our cars. It was a lengthy process and inefficient. If you ever thought about wanting to attend, just don't and you'll thank me later. read more

We purchased tickets for a "Best of Joe Hisaishi" experience in Nov 2024 in Hawaii. Event was to be performed Oct 1st according to original ticket purchase. Two nights ago we showed up to venue, nobody there. Reviewed past emails for confirmations or change of dates. There was a January email sent out for a Jan 10 performance of said experience. We reached out to customer service via email, no contact number or even a "chat" option via their site. We informed them there was no performance on site, and they countered that we had the date wrong. Here is their response. We sent screenshots of our original ticket purchase. FEVER RESPONSE: "There was no change for your tickets, and as far as we can see in the prints attached, can only conclude that has to be a date format in the ticket on the date of purchase. It says 10/01/2025 which stands for 10 of January and not 01 of October per US format. This kind of concerts usually are not planned with so much time in advance, from November 2024 to October 2025, but for January, yes. We're truly sorry for the situation and the inconvenience caused. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with." We asked for a credit voucher toward a future event or a full refund because the terms were unclear, and it was their responsibility to communicate event dates more clearly to eliminate confusion, especially to local customers. Do Americans really interpret 10/01/2025 as Jan 10, 2025? Gimme a break. Be weary of their refund policies. For resolution, we contacted our credit company for a full refund. We got a credit back within 48 hours. Wish Candlelight Fever had figured a way to make us happy and fulfill our simple request. They just slammed the door and did not offer any resolve to our satisfaction. Candlelight Fever lacks in effective resolution and does not take responsibility for mistakes such as this. I guess we are very lucky to have our particular performance in Phoenix at the Phoenix zoo and with Sweetwater strings providing the entertainment, it was a wonderful night. My husband surprised me with tickets to this and I wasn't sure what to expect. There were two zones of seating, zone a is the first five rows and zone B is row 6 and back to the top of the amphitheater that is at the Phoenix zoo. This is a very intimate venue, tons of candles everywhere and there was just not a bad seat in the house. The performers were all incredibly talented and they spent a little bit of time talking about themselves so you got an idea of where they come from and why they perform. That made the evening even more special. Most of the songs were classic rock, and you could sing along if you like! We arrived about 45 minutes before the show and people were lining up and they started scanning folks in about 30 minutes before Showtime. The show is about an hour in length and they do not take a break, but they give you a 10 minute warning before they start so you can hit the restroom or grab a drink. Our venue does have a bar and we spent $20 for one beer and one small glass of white wine. They also had popcorn and cookies and I do not know what their cost was. You are not allowed to video until the last song which was Bohemian Rhapsody, so I put a couple snippets of that out there, so you can see how talented these folks really are! If any of you have been to the zoo, you know the seats are aluminum, so be sure to indicate the option that you want a chair pad, which you get to take home from the event, or bring your own as the seat was pretty hard after an hour sitting there. We would definitely do this again, the zone A seats were about $145 for two of us but it was well worth it for a fun date night. read more

Beautiful music, HORRIBLE customer service! An absolute shame and I'll never give them my money again.

Review reason: show cancelled and the host did not communicate at all. The entire process felt impersonal and automated. My main quarrel with the situation is tied to the lack of correspondence surrounding the cancellation of the event. If prior communication was sent out, I could have made other plans. But instead we assumed the show was still going since there was no notice of cancellation (even to this day). Two emails were sent through the "contact us" page hours before the event's scheduled time to which no responses received. I explained the icy road conditions and that many other businesses had already shut down including the restaurant where we had dinner reservations. We drove an hour in iced road conditions and the venue gates were closed upon arrival. How is this acceptable? I receive an automated response about your firm no refund policy asking if I want a voucher days later. Another automated response, moldering distrust, continuing to not address your customer's concern. As an international business scheduling shows in multiple countries, the communication surrounding events needs to be leagues better. Event updates should be sent out days before and your refund policy should addendum regarding venue closures and forced cancellations. It was not my choice to miss the event. For my date and I, an event that initially filled us with anticipation and excitement, has soured to apathy. read more

I attended at the CA Railroad Museum in Sacramento CA. Warning: ONLY go if you splurge on "zone A" tickets. Not worth it for other seating zones. RADICALLY misleading ambiance. From our zone C area we couldn't really see anything, but I walked up front and the amount of candles isn't nearly as "magical" as the photos make it out to be. The Railroad Museum is, quite frankly awful for this experience. The acoustics don't help, and in zone C the chatter of the people around me drowned out the music. Side note: LOTS of folks with small kids who talked and ran around the whole time. Ugh. The seats were plastic folding chairs and got very uncomfortable after a bit. The instruments didn't seem to be mic'd, but that could be the terrible acoustics. All in all it just feels like a money grab. The musicians were AWESOME and I would absolutely go to see them again in a proper setting, but this isn't it. read more

Attended Candlelight Drone Show recently. The drone formations were very cool, however,after each segment there was a 5-7 minute gap where there was an empty sky...people were booing! I felt they also greatly exaggerated the Candlelight....in advertising pictures it appeared that there were just glowing candles surrounding the venue....there was actually one group of candles on a platform that couldn't even be seen from the back seats. Classical music was lovely. Also, they noted food would be available at venue, never mentioning what type. MANY people walked out before performance was over. read more

We had a terrible experience on Sunday, 10/27/23. Fever never responded to any of my attempts to contact them, by phone or by email. We we unable to enjoy our experience because the people sitting immediately to our left were so disruptive. They were using cell phones during the show. There was a young kid that was literally jumping up and down, throwing his arms up in the air, and being loud multiple times. He was flailing around so aggressively that he hit my friend in her left shoulder several times. We were shocked that none of the Fever Staff noticed or asked them to leave (or at least to move). We were disappointed that the Fever staff did not address these issues. We were seated in the middle, Section B. We were stuck right in the middle of our row. The musicians were wonderful. We just couldn't hear them very well over all the noise next to us. Fever should have refunded me for this experience. After this, I'll never go to another Fever event again. We used to go frequently, but after this enormous FAIL they have effectively lost the business of our entire group in this area. read more

Went to Friday night Fleetwood Mac theme candlelight concert by fever at trinity episcopal cathedral in Pittsburgh 10/10/25 6:30. Nice venue atmosphere. Pews were very uncomfortable and hard to sit but probably how it is for the church services so can't blame fever too much there. The all very young female quartet seemed not to play with any real passion or as an experienced group together and just seemed to go thru the motions. Reading off their iPads about each song with anecdotes was painful to hear as it was clear they had no real passion for Fleetwood Mac. Only 3 of the songs did it feel like they got into the music. Our last candlelight concert was 70's rock at the Omni hotel and that concert and group was excellent. We probably would not go to another candlelight concert I don't think because of the hit or miss musician talent. read more

Missed the first 15 minutes, no refund, no ability to contact customer service, no one to talk to. Called multiple times trying to get help finding the location. Would not recommend. Also the guy we talked to at the event lied the whole time, pretended to take our number down and just gave us a card that did nothing. Turns out Fever cancelled two weeks ago and never notified us. Double checked email - nothing. No email, no refund. Talked to a handful of others outside who said the same thing. I tried to go to the Hans Zimmer concert two days ago. Unfortunately, on the ticket the location was listed as "Historic Glendale Theater" with the address under it. When googled, the only result was the Alex Theater. Once I arrived, I was confused because the Alex Theater is very distinctive. The event was actually at The Nocturne Theater which the ticket should have stated. Anyway, this wouldn't have been a big deal except I was already running late and arrived seconds after the doors were closed. Security was very nice about everything and they offered everyone late a QR code to contact Fever for a refund or credit to rebook if they called within 48 hours. I submitted a ticket the day after the event and was told they have a strict no-refund policy. I explained to them what the event staff had told me and they were unable to provide an explanation for why I was told one thing and then another by support. I realize that they have a late policy and I understand. However, I should have been told at the door and not lied to to appease me in the moment. And then, when told what the staff at the event had said, I think the correct course of action would have been to honor the statement.
