A night at The Nash is the perfect date night for anyone looking for a classy, cozy place to enjoy jazz, drinks, and conversation. This RoRo staple has gotten even better since the remodel a couple years back! We most recently stopped by for a free First Friday performance, when a lovely quartet took the stage. Seats cleared out quickly during the break, and we were able to grab a nice side view. The acoustics were perfect all throughout the room -- loud enough to be immersed in the music, but quiet enough for groups to easily chat. The gorgeous lighting and velvety curtains behind the stage really add to the ambiance. The staff was super attentive, walking around to take drink and food orders. The food isn't anything crazy, but I still enjoyed the charcuterie plate as little snack (and a way to support this amazing local venue during the free set!). The Nash is a cool experience, especially if you go on one of their reduced price events. It is amazing to have a live jazz venue with established, touring musicians, as well as local artists with real talent. Since the remodel, it has a really swanky vibe that gives you that jazz club feeling. (Just bring a sweater because it can get really chilly in there!) Unfortunately, the drink situation is a bit of a racket. You cannot get water without paying for it (they only will sell pricey bottled waters), and even if you're just getting soda water from the fountain, they will charge your four dollars for a refill! My husband paid $12 for 3 small cups of soda water with a bunch of ice on a recent visit. You can buy cases of seltzer for that price! Their cocktails and wines are on point with other local establishments, but charging $4 for water - especially in Phoenix - feels a little scammy. read more

Oh! My! Gosh! I have to be honest, I'm not a huge music person. I don't know any instruments and I've been listening to the same songs for over a decade, so I'm not exactly known for my taste in music. Despite that, I do have a good sense of what places have the right vibes and if you need a comfy, welcoming environment just to sit back and relax, The Nash is EXACTLY where you want to be. Some friends and I visited on a Sunday night, which The Nash had scheduled as a jam sesh. The room is basically a small amphitheater with a main stage and plenty of seating for guests to enjoy the show. The seats are comfortable, the air conditioning is kept at a reasonable amount of chilly, and the music is excellent. There's just something exciting about watching people do what they're passionate about, especially when they're really good at it. Every artist who stepped on stage was fearless, outstanding, and mesmerizing. My friends and I stayed for a few hours just watching everyone play! I loved the communal atmosphere, like everybody knew each other and they were all old friends. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot for anybody visiting Phoenix. There is a very small cover charge, but for good, local music, it's worth every cent (or more, honestly!). read more

I love jazz music. Hitting up a jazz club is a unique experience. So, I was excited to check out my first jazz club in Phoenix at The Nash Jazz Club on a Friday evening with some of my coworkers. We Ubered so I can't comment on the parking situation but I will say that it's in Roosevelt Row so parking won't be easy. Ambiance (3.5/5): The Nash is a pretty small venue. Once you arrive, you check in with the host and they will bring you to your seats. We bought seats online the day before the show for 7:00 p.m. They have several shows each night and the later ones are free of charge. Prime time and you'll be paying. There are different prices depending on where you sit. There are foldable type chairs up front. Booth seating forming a semi-circle around the stage. Bar top seating. And bar sating. We sat at the bar top where you have a table and you sit on bar stools. The bar stools have a little back support, but not much. Which is never good for my old man back. I was pretty sore after sitting there for a few hours. Service (4/5): Our waiter took our drink order, and checked in here and there. He also did a last call (though you can stay for the second performance free of charge which was a little confusing). Luckily, someone there gave us the scoop. Food (N/A): They have light bites but we ate prior so I was on a liquid diet at The Nash. Drinks (3/5): I went with a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The wines are moderately priced, though not great. Outside of wine, they have beer and cocktails made with wine. No liquor. Lastly, the experience is what really matters. The music was fantastic. Mr. Nash himself was there and he even came on stage twice and played the drums. So cool! A great date night or a classy night out with friends. read more

I was surprised to visit the Nash as family brought me here without any knowledge of where we'd be going. We all love live music & ended up having a really nice evening after enjoying a nice dinner out that Friday evening. Sorry Yelpers but I have to give a BAD review for the Nash. I had a reservation for 10 last night for 5pm and without letting me know....they did away with Happy Hours. The manager was very unapologetic. Thank goodness that I called to confirm or 10 people would have showed up and the doors would have been closed. Also, last time I went the bartender was rude and the drinks (made with flavored wine) were horrible. They also had a food menu but the kitchen was closed. The music was fabulous and that alone was bringing me back. They wonder why their business is slow....REALLY!! read more

This was my first time at this intimate Jazz venue located on the corner of Roosevelt and 1st Street in the heart of downtown Phoenix with mostly volunteer staff. They had great reviews and I really wanted to love the show but I just couldn't and didn't. We were pretty underwhelmed and found ourselves yawning and ended up leaving early. I think it is a nice venue if you're a huge jazz fan as evidenced by all the positive reviews. It just wasn't for me unfortunately. read more

The little Jazz Club that jams! We were lucky to make it to a spectacular showcase of Dennis Rowland & his mentees from Scottsdale Community College. Every semester, the class culminates in a concert held here. We were truly wowed by the variety of singers - all different ages & styles. The concert started st 7:30 & when we took off at 10 pm, it was still going strong. We experienced such a positive vibe there, per the usual! I sat next to a chick I'd never met before & we just chimed in as backup when one student sang Sinatra's "That's Life." Because we were FEELIN' IT! The band itself was outstanding - they consistently jammed for more than four hours. The pianist?! Epic. Dennis hung out on the sidelines, supporting his students, as he's done for a decade+ The bar served a very small glass of house Zin for $9. Normally, I would not be cool w/ that. BUT...The Nash is in the middle of a capital campaign to renovate the club, so if upcharging for drinks can help fund the reno, I am more than happy to pay for extra. They have photos up of how the club will be upgraded & it looks pretty grand! We're excited for the makeover. As far as parking: it was disappointing that street parking meters on the west side were covered - meaning not usable. No idea why City of Phx did that, but they're where we usually park for $3-$5. Instead we parked in Carly's parking lot w/ the app & it was THIRTEEN DAMN DOLLARS. AYKM?! That's bananas. I'd say get there earlier to find street parking that may require hoofing it a little. They don't serve any hard liquor but still have some good cocktails on their menu just using beer, wine, and liqueurs which is really cool. The pricing was reasonable. The service was fast and friendly and of course the show itself was AMAZING! I love jazz and boy did the band deliver. Looking for great jazz in PHX? Look no further than The Nash! I recently visited Arizona for work and decided to stay a few extra days for my own mini solo retreat. One of my favorite things to do when traveling solo is to checkout a jazz show and I'm always browsing through Yelp to find a local joint to spend a few hours. After searching, I came across The Nash and was determined to make my way there while in town. Lucky me, Emmy-award winning jazz pianist, Nick Manson, was playing one of the evenings I was there so I was in! When I arrived, guests were slowly making their way inside and there were a host of friendly volunteers buzzing about. I purchased my ticket at the door as I had never been inside of The Nash and didn't really understand which seat may be the best for me. The team was kind enough to point out which seats were available before I purchased my ticket. What's funny is, it's not a very huge building, very intimate seating which I loved, so idk why I was so confused lol. I believe that almost everything is better with a glass of wine so I was super happy to see that there was a concession stand open and ready for guests - WIN! With quick snack options and a nice lil wine menu, The Nash has the right idea! I took a seat in the back as I thought it'd be awkward to be stuck at a front table with someone I didn't know, lol. I'm friendly but I like to skip the small talk. So I was happy that the seat in the back was open! The show started on time and man, what a show! I ended up leaving a bit early as it was getting dark and I was tired, but wow - I truly enjoyed the show and The Nash, I can't wait to go back and support their mission and performers again! read more

We had a great time at the Nash!! We went to see a great show in July with a great brass horn show! Mike Vax was the lead trumpet player and they were fantastic!! Cool jazz club named after Louis Nash in downtown Phoenix. The seating is perfect, there's no bad seat in the house. Great artists bless the stage weekly. We had the pleasure of seeing Michael Powers and band and they were amazing. This jazz club is a non profit. Quaint and cozy. They offer snacks, alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. I used to see her perform at Chuy's Night Club in Tempe off of Mill Avenue many years ago. What a great performer! The Nash is celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary! It is a nonprofit organization that promotes Jazz on the Valley. Lots of opportunities for volunteers and those interested in hearing some great jazz artists. You can order tickets online. The Nash seats over one hundred people and a great entertainment venue. Parking is limited but the Light Rail and surrounding parking options are available. read more

I absolutely love this place. I loved it before the reno, but now it has a more high end feel. Honestly the staff and volunteers make this place. It's a nonprofit so your money is being well spent. The music is always great be it Latin Jazz, Afro Blue, or Big Band you can't go wrong here. The atmosphere is welcoming and low key. Cold kitchen with things like hummus and shrimp cocktail. I've sampled both and they are very quality dishes. Beer and wine at the moment, but was informed that there will soon be a liquor license which I'm excited for. Went to The Nash tonight with tix at will call for 7:00p from Vet Tix. Get there and they tell us that the tix were for the 9 pm show even though the tix states 7:00pm... So their only option is to come back in 2hours or stand for 2 hours and watch a 2 hour show. Who does this? We are veterans and drove 50 minutes to get there... I did not know what to expect coming here to The Nash. My first visit here was ever surprising. When you walk in you hand your ticket to the person that checks you in, and you are taken to your table. Did I say table, yes indeed our table was front row, and everyone is seated at their table. We figured out The Nash can accommodate over 100 customers. Nestled on the corner of 1st Street and Roosevelt Street, it sits in the heart of Roosevelt Row. On this Sunday afternoon we came to see Francine Reed. She was such a joy to listen to as well as entertaining and her ability to talk to her audience is impeccable. The musicians that accompany her were amazing, as well as talented. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with incredible entertainment. Since it is a small venue all the customers in the audience have a tendency to talk to one another which makes you feel right at home. Would I return to The Nash, absolutely. Even if you are able to make it here once, do it, you won't be disappointed. Just remember the parking can be challenging but you can find parking. The Nash is a jazz house that is home to Jazz In Arizona, Inc a 501 nonprofit whose mission is, "to build a vabriant Jazz community in the Valley." And they do just that, by hosting touring artists, local musicians, weekly jam sessions, master classes, and educational programs ranging from one on one private lessons to jazz workshops. Make sure you take a look at their calender online! We came for the Peggy Lee Tribute which was wonderful! Jan Sandwich was on vocals and chronologically went through Peggy Lee's life from birth to death and all of the main events in her life in between partnering each event with one of Peggy's songs that were related to each event. It was a great narrative beautifully shared. Nicole Pesce played on the piano and Adam Clark played on the drums. They both were great as well! The show was fantastic but there were certain things that were not. 1. The chairs they have are not comfortable at all. 2. They don't serve food, just snacks. However, they said you can bring outside food to any show. So maybe hop to Carly's during intermission for a to-go order? 3. They have a mini-bar so no full bar options that most people are used to. Unsure if they also allow a BYOB policy too, I'm sure you can call and ask. As for parking, you can park in their shared lot with Carly's, use the metered parking along the street (our show was 2 hours long, so very doable for the meter), or you can park in the parking garage across the street, NW of their entrance. You can also buy the tickets in cash when you get there, which I did. Ours was $14 each.The house gets packed quickly so come 20 minutes early to grab a parking spot and a seat! Also, they have student discounts on the tickets, make sure to bring your ID to receive it. read more

Review: 1st of all 2023 New Years was perfect!!! But 2024??? Big disappointment. I am an active professional musician and a retired Degreed Music Educator. 2024 New Years Eve show. $90 a head???? Way over priced for what was offered. Dennis Roland, was Dynamite as always. The band was very good. Delphine Cortez however, left a lot to be desired...actually quite a bit boring and her tunes sound like the same titles from 2023. She may be ok for other Nash events. However New Years Eve should offer...A way more dynamic Female vocalist who could sing Traditional, straight ahead, smooth Jazz and Jazzy R n B tunes, would have been more appropriate. Or 2 or 3 different female vocalist with different styles. The audience was polite, but mostly the audience looked bored. Delphine should not do New years eve anymore. Like church folk say she could offer an A & B selection, but that's about it. Plus you could have opened with 1 religious black oriented Jazzy tune just to be thankful to the Man upstairs. Nash New Years 2025, needs to reflect more vocal & music diversity....that might attract a more diverse audience. African Americans are the originators of Jazz. But one wouldn't know it by the audience you have ALWAYS attracted. How is this club named after a black man (WHO I know personally (Lewis), but Nash administrators DO NOTHING to attract African Americans to partake of Jazz Offerings. That means stop offering concerts that ONLY offer straight ahead jazz. On the food for 2024. The Meatballs were good. That tomato plate....awful....the so-called desert...a complete disgrace and the desert upset my hubby's digestive system. Was the NASH too cheap to hire a caterer? $90 for crappy food offerings...shame on you. Your board of directors needs to become more diverse, you people just don't get it. At least, the food servers were very nice. read more

Another fine performance at The Nash. I don't have much time to attend live music despite living in Scottsdale, but I hit this amazing intimate club whenever possible. On Sat. 1/7/23 they had the amazing Kim Weston (vocals & electric violin) band. Included were Beth Lederman (keys - well respected in AZ), Marcus Williams (guitar), Mario Mendivil (bass) & Ronald Bruner, Jr. (drums - from LA). This place books the best artists from all over the US & world - no wonder Downbeat Magazine lists them as one of the world's best Jazz clubs. read more

I love going to The Nash! It's never disappointing. Great performances and reasonable ticket prices. I recently went to the new Jazz and Poetry event with Holly Pyle and House of Stairs. It was phenomenal! A tribute to Donney Hathaway but a far cry from the usual 70's music retrospective. Most times you can buy tickets at the door but they do sell out from time to time. They sell beer and wine and some snacks but no real food. If you go to Short Leash (they close at 9 pm) next door you can bring your food into The Nash...it's cool. You can also bring other take out. Not sure if you can still bring your own wine and beer. I'll find out next time. Street parking is usually not too hard to find. If it's really crowded, there is a lot across the street from the venue. read more

We hit this place on First Friday this March and it was a welcome escape from all the cacophony outside. It is a cozy venue with tables and chairs facing a well lit stage with great acoustics. There is a large screen above and next to the stage for those sitting toward the back. The very back of the room has a raised counter for standing room. The restrooms are very nice unisex single seaters in the back as well. Bottled wine and beer are offered. This is a nice spot for a date. It is smaller than the old Rhythm Room and the venue attracts popular talent from the world of jazz. read more

I have been to the Nash a lot this year and every year I find myself loving it even more. Today was a jam session allowing musicians to come in and share their talent and I am not surprised by the talent The Nash showcases.5$8: is easily one of the best locations to visit in Phoenix. I have brought my grandmothers and best friend here and each time we do not disappoint. Tonight I was even carded (thanks for thinking I'm younger than my drivers license states)!
