It all started on a smoky, 87 degree Saturday in July when our camping plans got a rain check and we were open for a good time. Big Mini Putt Club was initially discussed but nixed because we weren't feeling the downtown vibe or $12 a person/9 holes. Then, we looked up AJ's mini golf but they had a private event scheduled. Yelp suggested Double Dip and after one ring, the employee on the telephone sold us with $3.50/person for 18 holes and recommended we come before 7p (thanks for the tip!). We parked, watched the first half of England vs. France at Walker Roadhouse and walked right over to the Depot. The course was perfect (no waiting around and lots of shade) for our 4 year old who got her first hole in one on the 15th! The ice cream/cone of ice came out quick (no line either) at 6:30p and we had our choice of picnic tables with umbrellas to enjoy. Overall, great family date night! We rarely frequent the west side, besides for the zoo, but will have to plan another trip before the summer ends. The bowling was fun and they even had option of using bumpers. My kid had a good time and it was nice that there was no one else bowling around us. The arcade was nice. It had plenty of free games. The pay games were mostly the claw games where you can win a stuffed animal or plastic duck. They offer food, ice cream, and drinks. Ice cream was delicious and my kid approved! Overall, it was a fun time and worth the amount of money that we spent. It was clean and comfortable inside. Twice did our balls become ensnared within the obstacles, and on the sixteenth hole, a dozen players before us did halt their play, for their balls were trapped and would not release until I, with great effort, did free them from their prison. Our complaints to the attendant were met with indifference, as though she were not paid enough to care for our plight. The arcade, a cacophony of noise, did drive us away from further games, and the cost of nine dollars for such a course seemed a grievous overcharge. Verily, I say unto thee, I shall not return to this place of discontent unless I hear tell of new management or grand improvements. Thus ends my tale of woe. Headed out to the track - workers seemed nice and friendly. There were about 10 cars ready to drive around. Once the GoKarts were let loose, it was very clear that two kids were driving recklessly and dangerously. One girl - probably about 8 yo - crashed so violently that her shoe flew off onto the track. The employees allowed her to continue driving putting others in danger. She crashed at least twice more - and I'm not talking about bumping into the rails or accidentally clipping the bumper of the car in front of her. When you have a track full of customers, their safety must be a priority.
