Proof I had communicated with the Front Desk prior to today
    LaDonna A.

Today I spoke with the acting Front Desk Manager, Rachel. She was extremely supportive & empathetic. I truly appreciate how she listened & understood what happened to our family. She said that she was easily able to find my previous email communications with the Front Desk. She also said that my information was also easily accessible through IHG. Anyone in the hotel (especially the one who made the decision to cancel our reservation) could have found my info in IHG. She also mentioned that being a Platinum Member should have held some weight & in this case it did not.

I travel on business every week and I stay at the IHG family of hotels almost exclusively. I know what I want in a hotel and that is why I give IHG my business. I ask for a comfortable bed with blankets and not this triple sheet trend that the hospitality industry things everyone wants. I want reasonable quietness, a work station, and internet...high speed internet. This is where the candlewood suites falls down. The internet speed is horrible, it will time-out, it will fail to connect...horrible. In my opinion, as a business traveler, this just isn't the property that I will consider next time I'm in the Eugene/Springfield area. When I cannot get my work done, its time for me to move on.

This is a new place, nicely designed, with spacious rooms. Lots of desk space for the business traveler to spread out and get some work done. Kitchenette is handy for the long term stay. Even for the short term stay, a nice amenity. I'm immediately pleased when I walk into my room. Even TV sleep timer on the remote - a rarity these days and an absolute necessity for me! I'm a business traveler and stay in Eugene every 6 weeks. For me, consistency is vital. That includes knowing I'll get a room that fits my preferences. When I can get that, along with a nice comfortable room, they have my loyal business. After switching from a place that couldn't provide that and staying here just for the third time, they make sure I get the same room each time! I LOVE THAT!! Good 'convenience store' in lobby to meet your miscellaneous needs. No free breakfast but, if that's why you choose where you stay, you really need to question why you put free crappy hotel cardboard food into your pie hole!

James was manning the desk when I arrived on Sunday afternoon, you see we had sold our home in Eugene and thought we had found a place to live while our new home was being purchased, what a mistake that was! We found the Candlewood using a Google search, so I was on a last minute hunt between runs to the Goodwill for a another place to call home for Myself, Dianne and our child wally, because we had to be out of our sold home that day, and the clock was ticking. I was covered in sweat and dust from head to toe when I walked into this fabulous new Candlewood lobby, and I felt completely out of place, James smiled and immediately attended to my needs, he made me feel at home, I explained how Dianne was crying that morning because she could no bare another night at the crossroads extended living hotel/dump in Springfield. James patiently explained all the amenities Candlewood had to offer like free laundry (washers and dryers), free WIFI (not throttled and pay for extra bandwidth) BBQ pits, fee movies, full size refrigerators, kng size beds, brand new rooms overlooking the Willamette river Etc. I was in shocked and could not believe my good fortune, only I had forgotten my wallet, "not a problem" James said, and signed me in anyway, he simply asked that we show in our credit card when we return. Well that was three days ago and we just love staying at the Candlewood, I can truly recommend that you stay here and if you are lucky enough to speak with James, tell him Larry Dianne and Wally sent us!

Fully equipped modern kitchen's, the only thing missing is a oven!

Kate at the front desk checked me in and she remembered my name and I appreciated her hospitality and welcome. I don't always get to do the breakfast but this visit I was so happy to enjoy an incredible spread of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, English muffin, breakfast danish, you can make your own waffles, and there is oatmeal with almonds and cranberries and brown sugar. Orange juice and coffee are standard and they have a breakfast kombucha if you want something a little healthier and probiotic. They also have a happy hour with regional wine, bubbles, and local beer for really reasonable prices if you just need a refresher after getting back to the hotel. The location is unbeatable with just a couple of blocks to excellent places to eat downtown like The Davis, and the Eugene Public Library nearby.

Check-in was smooth, and the staff member who greeted us was genuinely pleasant and cool, giving us some extra water and few green bags of goodies (returned the next day), promising to wave the parking fee. That's where the positives ended. After a long drive, we dropped our bags in da rooms and went out for a dinner without inspecting our rooms a bit closely. When we returned later that night and checked the beds with a UV light, we were shocked to find stains on both beds. It was darn disturbing (photos attached)! We went down to the front desk to report it. The night staff told us there was no one available to change the linens and no other rooms available to change at full occupancy. Instead, we were handed a set of sheets and sent back to deal with it ourselves. After 10 PM, exhausted, we had no real choice but to accept it. In the morning, we raised the issue again with the new front desk rep. The replacement sheets were not much better, and despite our complaint, the response was limited to verbal apologies only. We were still charged full price for the night, plus a $20 parking fee for overfilled parking lot that's essentially had open access from the street. This is not the level of cleanliness or service expected from a Hyatt. Do your due diligence and do not assume standards are being met. Check your room carefully before settling in. Breakfast on the other hand was great! Variety of eggs, milks and healthy choices beat other Hyatt locations we stated at the next day in Portland. Loved it, and that what basically got the stars.

The breakfast was good and they had vegetarian sausage and bacon which I have never seen in a complimentary hotel breakfast! Only complaint is that when I didn't want my room cleaned, they put a weird note on my door and came in anyway. Not mentioned in any reviews that I read prior to staying here: a mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad is just three blocks away. At least three times during the dead of night, trains came through with the horns blowing loudly at each of many crossings through this part of Eugene. Unbelievably loud!!! People living in this area must be able to tune it out, but we were NOT used to this. Because the Campbell House is up a hill from the railroad, it seems that horns can be heard unimpeded by other structures (despite the massive 18 floor Ya-Po-Ah Terrace building nearby). I would suggest wearing ear plugs during the night. Nevertheless, I would consider staying hear again if traveling on my own, but my wife would probably veto it we were both traveling. We left sleep deprived to begin our 7+ hour drive home.

I went down... spoke to him, he looks at me and straight ignored me. I was going to go down and get my welcome gift that you usually get when checking in but it was such a turn off.. I just left. The AC in the room reeeks of mold. I hate this with hotels because Mold actually can get you sick. ( should know this). Plus I had my baby with me.
