Honestly, we had the best little room. It was way back in the corner, cute little porch. It came with fridge and microwave, I didn't try the WiFi. The blankets were synthetic but clean. We had a desk and two chairs in our room. The bathroom needs upgrading, the shower curtain would not stay up. But it was clean and usable. We tried to get clean towels the second day but could not get housekeeping's attention. We stayed two nights, picking this hotel because we could walk to The Cuthbert and it had a pool. But when we arrived we were told there was an overchlorination issue, and someone would come around 9am to address it. Our room was next to the pool, so we watched and checked, and waited. But no one came. And when we asked again they said that the pump was broken. And later some other man that works there made the comment that "it always happens on our busiest weekends". We could hear the pump humming and see the water circulating in the pool. I assume that we were not allowed to use the pool because of a distrust of the hippie crowd, most of the people staying there were going to String Cheese Incident. I don't really know, maybe there was some other reason, but we didn't feel like they were honest. The other thing to note is that this hotel comes with "continental breakfast" which varied from day to day. One day was prepackaged Danish, yogurt, and bananas. Another day was bagels and cereal. There was hot coffee with real half and half both days. The AC was cold, but noisy, and kept us comfortable. Honestly, the pool was a big issue, and would have earned this budget hotel at least one more star. We travel to Eugene often for shows, and are more likely to stay at Guesthouse Inn and Suites (in Springfield) next time. We stayed there the weekend before and were 100% satisfied. read more

This motel has been given a facelift since it was the Broadway Inn. The outside has some fresh paint, and there are baskets of flowers hanging from the eaves, which helps to relieve the dismal parking-lot view just a little. There is some new bedding too. Unfortunately, the bathrooms and the fixtures are still waiting for an upgrade, and the new bedding is synthetic and thus hot and sweaty in the summer. The air conditioner worked well in our room (109), but was loud -- and we needed to run it all night. The vinyl floor in the bathroom was dirty and stained, there was mould and dirt in the corners, and rust in the tub. The old tile had been painted over, but the paint was flaking off. The internet was good when it worked. On our final morning, we reported to Britney at the front desk that the hotel Internet was not working at all, even though we had a good WiFi signal. She said that she would try to fix it by restarting their router. An hour later, nothing had changed, and I went to see if things worked any better in the office -- they did not. It turned out that Britney had actually done nothing, because "the internet works fine on my phone". I had to explain to her that her phone had its own internet connection over the cellular network, and wasn't using the hotel's connection, which I demonstrated was not working in front of her. I don't know if she took any action after that; we had to leave before we got Internet. read more

Booked this motel through Orbitz.com as we needed a place while we stayed in Eugene to attend a Ducks football game and to visit the area. This was our first visit to Broadway Inn and will be our last. To be fair, the check in process was okay (10 p.m.) and the staff was pleasant. The place is old and the room reflects it. Especially the old tiles in the bathroom, peeling paint, cracked and molding caulking in the tub/shower and cigarette burned and stained carpeting. I would say that this place has seen better days, probably fifty years ago. My rating is impacting by the price I paid (averaging $101.00 per night for a four night stay), during a football weekend, and the poor service we received when our shower drain began to back up. We literally were standing in ponded water at least 1" to 1-1/2" deep while bathing. The next day we asked the front desk/maintenance staff (who began eating as they listened to our request) and the housekeeping staff to please have someone check on this problem, needless to say the problem remained. I personally had to take apart the drain plug and clean out the mass of hair and God knows what that goop was, before the drain worked properly. While others say that it was a good price for their room (they definitely did not stay during a busy football weekend and were given an inflated price for this poor excuse for lodging), I can honestly say they cannot pay me to stay at this place ever again. Look elsewhere for your lodging needs, if Eugene is booked, consider traveling away from the immediate area rather than stay at the Broadway Inn. I have booked way better rooms for less!!! read more

A mess up in booking that we made months earlier... left us, last minute, scrambling for a room. This place was perfect for what we had planned. We were looking for a bed to crash on and a shower to clean up in and this place did the job. Amenities are few, but the ones they do offer are essential such as free internet, mini-fridge and free parking. The office staff was very friendly and even let me use their copy machine and printer (we were applying for apartments in the area and needed these items). Rooms are small, but for $60 a night I couldn't complain. The beds are comfy. Bathroom was clean. We had a bit of an ant problem, but we also skipped maid service for 3 days, so that may have been our fault. Free breakfast was great and saved us some cash each day. They have bagels, muffins, oatmeal, fruit, applesauce, and hard-boiled eggs along with an assortment of teas and coffee. Bagels were slightly stale on some days, but beggars can't be choosers. Never again. Fifty year old solo traveling woman calls up mid-afternoon to see if there is room at the inn and once that's confirmed, states she'll be paying cash and asks whether that'll be a problem. Absolutely not, just need to imprint the debit card or a credit card. Not a problem. Then asked if a late-late arrival would be ok. Sure, sure, come on up! Flash forward to two a.m., dead tired and in need of freshening up. Ring the bell, kid comes to the sliding window for night-service. State the aforementioned, he then proceeds to say there's a $250 deposit. Thought he was kidding. He wasn't. I left (see below) and went next door. The gentleman had no problem getting me in to a quiet, clean, bottom-floor room and even went to far as to discount my room and give me a late departure time without an additional charge. Broadway Inn: Here's something important to remember- never piss off a return customer, especially when said customer has been giving very positive reviews and has sent you numerous new guests. This place is cheap so I guess you get what you pay for, the beds were pretty comfy but the room was very small and not very amenities at all, TV very old. There was also a lot of noise, you hear people running water, flushing toilets, also coughing. slamming doors. In the morning about 8 AM there was some G. rap music playing absurdly loud. The breakfast was crap repeat, crap and had very limited choices. a few cut up Costco muffins, some stale bagel crap and then the coffee was in these tiny plastic cups, you really have to get there before it's gone. the people were weird there as was the checkout guy who was really weird. Broadway Inn was a good experience. It is located in or near downtown near the university. There are lots of good restaurants within walking distance. The refrigerator was quiet. There is a window in the bathroom that faces a fence. The front desk staff, especially Angel, was friendly. There is a pool in the back next to the laundry room. The parking is free. The free Wifi was fast and steady. The free breakfast is great--4 kinds of oatmeal, bananas, apples, organic applesauce, muffins, bagels, Bigelow teabags, hot cocoa, coffee, etc... There is no indoor seating in the lobby/breakfast area. I sat outdoors in 40-degree temperatures but other travelers took their breakfast into their rooms. The only negatives are that you can hear neighbors or people outside talking, the shower head pressure is high, and that you must do a U-turn on Broadway Avenue if you're heading to it from the East. There is one washing machine and one dryer. The person who used the dryer prior to us left their dried clothes in there and we weren't sure if it was ethical to take there clothes out. Also, the sink is in the bathroom so someone cannot brush their teeth while another is taking a shower. I would definitely stay here again. read more

It wasn't a fantastic experience but it was far from terrible. We needed a late night place to stay en route to a better location. Not very many places in Eugene accept pets, so we ended up here. I think we paid like $80 total for the night. Which honestly I considered a bit overpriced for a 10pm check in. Call me crazy but hotels should discount their rates after a certain time. Like 9? That's just my opinion and will never be a reality but anyway the two people working at the front desk were really nice and friendly. I scoffed a little at the $15 a night pet fee, but only because I want my dog to get a job and start paying her own way. The room was simple and clean. I felt comfortable enough. I did of course lift the sheets and inspect for bed bugs because I'm neurotic but I didn't see any? Do you see them... I have no idea - but I didn't. The breakfast in the morning was nothing fancy. Bagels & bread type stuff with coffee and tea but that's a nice perk. I'd stay there again if I had to. read more

The price is low. We stayed one night (last night). It is indeed close in. I can overlook a lot but this room came with sound effects that made it 2 stars. I needed both eye shades and earplugs to get through the night. I can generally deal with traffic sounds as white noise but, there is a manhole cover in the street (4 rooms away) that makes a thumping noise every time a wheel hits it. So it was whoosh-thump all night..... The room was small (my wife brushed my feet every time she moved past the tv to get to the bathroom) The only spacious area in the room was the shower. The shower stall is tile (probably installed in 1942) with mold growing on some of the grout and some grout eroded away completely by the leaking faucet. There is a plastic feeling mattress cover under the sheet.... The cont. breakfast was ok. small muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, coffee, and juice. Pet fee was $10 - much more reasonable than most. Total cost was $65 including fees and taxes. The best thing about this place was the friendly welcome by the clerk! The worst thing about the room was the chemical smell that seemed to result in irritated eyes. I had let the room air out for several hours before we went in but it didn't help. Whenever we pass through town my husband and I stay here. It is hands down the most affordable, clean budget hotel in Eugene. The location is close to everything and the continental breakfast is a nice touch. What we enjoy most is the friendly service....Samir is a great host! They often let us change our stay according to our schedule with no hassle at all. So worth it. The rooms have a refrigerator, microwave, and FREE strong consistent wifi. We stayed here during move in weekend for the U of Oregon and chose it because it was close our daughter's dorm. When we first checked into the room, it smelled like a cat had sprayed the room. This was supposedly a no pet/ no smoking room. Staff accommodated an immediate move to a room a few doors down. Still smelled musty like a motel should I guess. Room was very small. Safety latch was broken off the door with screw holes that went through the door to the outside. Shower floor tiles were dirty and cracked. No drain cover- just a hole in the drain pan. Soap dish was rusted. I felt like I needed a shower after my shower! Lots of patched, but unpainted holes in the walls. Wasn't even going to chance the "free breakfast". If you want a DIVE motel, then this is definitely the place! read more

Not the greatest hotel I've ever stayed in, but at $59 bucks a night, it's great. The rooms are clean, beds comfy, the staff is nice, they have a pool and free wifi- AND a computer in the lobby for those of us who are too stuck in the past to have laptops. Plus- at their continental breakfast they serve the most amazing bagels. Seriously. I've been here twice. The bagels brought me back! Very centrally located to downtown Eugene and the college. There is also a very friendly and well-fed cat who lives on the premises. Makes me a little less homesick for my fluffy ones. read more

This place has its pluses and minuses. The pluses are that its cheap, relatively clean as it just has been remodeled. The minuses are that the sheets are washed in so much bleach that I was up most of the night coughing, my whole body smelled like bleach. One cannot camouflage it with a lotion as they don't provide one. They don't even have a coffee machine in the room. Even the most 3rd world motels in India, provide coffee and tea pot. The room was dark with strangely placed furnishings. The mattress on the bed and the pillows were just awful, major neck and back problems next morning. Bear in mind this is a four-star review in terms of what can reasonably be expected of a two-star motel. In other words, this is not a four-star hotel in the least, but it's well-managed (broken microwave swapped out within fifteen minutes by maintenance; easy check-in; room made up upon request after we were flaky about getting going to leave), the linen doesn't have embedded hair or stains, the carpet is dense and pristine like an office hallway's, and the rooms are actually a good size and have a well-imagined layout. Decent mini-fridge and microwave. Place is pretty old, but our room didn't have peeling paint or evidence of trauma. If the only reason for only two stars were age, we wouldn't care, but it's basically just one of those serviceable "meh" places in all respects and we didn't care anyway. It looks seedy from the exterior and some guests possibly match this profile. The neighborhood is run down seeming but there are other better ones very nearby (less than half a mile), downtown one direction and the U of O campus in the other. Utterly acceptable continental breakfast, no options for protein or other nutrition whatsoever but the muffins made for okay comfort cake during this harsh rainy winter. Tacky restaurants plus a 7-11 within a block. Free, sluggish wifi. The best aspect by far was the price. Four nights, $211 total, including all taxes. For that rate, it's incredible. We came here to visit family in the winter when the college was on break. Therefore, we don't know what it's like when this motel is at all populated. But if you need to come to Eugene for some reason other than a Ducks game, check the rates and be assured the place is totally fine. read more

I'm writing this review while still here...I booked this motel last year for my Sons graduation as everything was booking up so quickly. I was unsure at first because I always stayed at the inn at the fifth every time I came to visit him but I was pleasantly surprised! There could be some updating on the bathroom and it's alittle dark and I almost went to the store to get a cheap full length mirror because I couldn't see that whole crucial graduation outfit lol. but holy cow...I was here 4 nights and I never slept better! I don't know what it is but my daughter was here 2 of the nights and she said the same. Very convenient to everywhere and the complimentary breakfast that starts every morning @ 7 was really good! It rivals any hotel. The staff was very nice. They were up cleaning rooms early...didn't disturbed me when I had the do not disturb sign out but cleaned it impeccably when I was gone. Love having the mini refrigerator and microwave in the room. I highly recommend if you can look beyond small flaws (most hotels have)...at least for the sleep! read more

This is an excellent bargain motel! We couldn't believe how clean and carefully run the place is. They have very nice details (soaps, shampoo, coffee, tea, bagels etc.) and it really is quite a little gem in Eugene. Nothing fancy but just wholesome and quaint. We will always stay at this hotel when in Eugene because it is an outrageous bargain and you don't have to worry you will 'get what you pay for'. Please, never stay here, especially do not trust them for UO graduation weekend. I give them 0 stars. This hotel left my family and a small child out in the cold with no place to stay because they either made a gross error, or sold our room reservation (which I had for 3 months) to someone who offered the staff a bribe to obtain it during this busy weekend when the whole town is booked. The female night manager is a criminal. She repeatedly provoked me and my family by calling me a liar and saying I canceled my reservation the night before. Outrageous. I did not cancel, and I considered pressing charges, she was so suspicious regarding how they lost my reservation, and so insulting. Terrible customer service. I plan to seek some kind of justice in the immediate future. read more

I love this little old place. It was really conveniently located to where my son was staying (Barnhart Hall directly behind). Clean as a whistle. Nothing fancy, though. Cons: It was 90 outside so we left the AC on all night. It came on every 10 minutes with a BANG, and we couldn't get it to be just a little less freezing a$$ cold. Also, not enough hot water and not enough water pressure. We had the cold water off and could only get a trickle of hot water. When I told the manager, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Sorry, these old places." So if that's a concern, you might want to stay somewhere newer! Okay breakfast, standard continental. Go next door to Burrito Boy for a more substantial breakfast. read more

Stayed for 3 nights. Service was great, until the 3rd day. I was preparing to go out to eat. I don't wear glasses outside of my home. I sat on the bed, took off my glasses and put in my contacts. My glasses were on the night stand when I left. ($600 oakleys) When I returned 30 minutes later I noticed the beds were made. The maids had been through the room. And my $600 glasses had vanished. I searched the entire room for an hour just to be sure. When I reported the theft, nothing was done. "I'm sorry that happened" were the exact words. So the 3 nights cost me just shy of $1k. I received a room on top of the office. It was quite nice. I had a little view from the windows of other buildings. The room was clean, but not spotless. There were brown spots on my ceiling, and dark spots in the carpet. Nothing too bad, but enough to remind me things aren't always clean. The wireless service was "interesting." Depending on which angle my computer was situated at, I either got a signal but no service, or it worked. Perhaps it had to do with interference. I think they need a stronger signal. The speed was just adequate. The shower was good, but the head was almost too high to reach (and had been adjusted as low as it could go, which still arced water past half of the bath tub). The soap and shampoo was nice, smelled good, even made in the United States. I liked the laundry machines. A complete cycle with soap (no softener) was $3 in quarters. I feel a bit nickel and dimed on that, but I'm glad the machines were there. The worst thing was when someone knocked on my door at 7. I had been asleep, when I heard through the thin walls "we should knock." I never expected them to pound on my door. I wasn't sure what to do...get out of bed? I'm not going to get dressed for some stranger. I tried to return to sleep. Then, at 8, I heard noises from my door's lock, as if it were being opened. I couldn't really sleep after then. I'm sure the inn has no control over this sort of thing, but hey, it happened. A 200 degree peephole would be nice. Oh yeah...the place smells like some kind of disinfectant. It seems that all inn rooms have odd smells. The refrigerator was loud...so I disconnected it. I paid $83...probably the most expensive room I've ever paid for. Anyway, in case my review isn't clear, I really liked the place, I just had various experiences in addition. I would ask for a room close to the pool or above the office if you are booking in advance, to avoid the road noise. read more

When I got there, there was a bad smell, but the fan was on and the windows open, so they were clearly trying to do something about it. (And it got better pretty soon after I got there.) Cheap and affordable stay for a night. The young lady who checked us in was super nice and welcoming. We stayed in the room upstairs and boy it was HOT when we first entered it. Probably because the sun was shining through the window. We turned on the AC but it literally took the whole night before the AC actually kicked in.
