Free cover for a reason I suppose. Most of the cars you see are the staff. Went about an hour after opening. They've got the music playing and a projector of random hip hop vids. Bar staff is friendly; drinks were all kinds of whack on the mixtures. They were out of ingredients on my first 3 drink choices. Between 2 beers it was like $30. And honestly the chicas weren't very motivated or anything that would get a "rise" out of the occasion. I felt bad for my friend who took pity on one and got the worst dance of his life. I've been coming here for years, and it used to be one of the best clubs in town. Since the new owner took over, it's gone completely downhill. The atmosphere is tense, the energy is off, and it's clear the staff and dancers aren't being treated with the respect they deserve. You can feel the difference the second you walk in. Morale is low, service is inconsistent, and it's obvious that management has no idea how to run a club, let alone create a safe or professional environment. I'm not here just for drinks and a show-I'm here to support the people who make this place run. And right now, they're being treated like they're disposable. Candy Shop is definitely a 5 star spot if you'd like to drink, party, and be entertained by beautiful women. They have a wide range of personalities and looks among dancers. The new drink menu is absolutely delicious. (All original cocktails are $18, before 8PM they are all $9) Beer bucket prices are also a steal at $30. Their bottle service menu challenges downtown club prices! (I can see why so many bachelorette and female birthday parties are celebrated here) The bartenders are amazing!! Sergio and April are among my favorites for the days I go in to chill and watch the stage. The dancers are AMAZING on stage!! Some of these girls are doing drops from the ceiling and catching themselves before they hit the floor. It had me shook when I first saw!! There is a patio where you can smoke cigarettes and cannabis, although they do sell hookah by the hour inside. On the patio you'll be able to smell the sweet scents of the taco and Asian fusion vendors outside Fri-Sun. 100% recommend the bulgogi fries from the Asian fusion vendor and the adobada tacos from the other vendor. I LOVE this spot! This is THE club to be visiting if you're in San Diego. First of all, the decor is high class, beautiful, and eye catching. The dancers are beautiful, sweet, and down to earth! The DJ plays the best music, and has great energy. Miimii, Sunny, and Jessie are some of my favorites! From the moment you walk in this place is a great distraction from the outside world. There's a lot of positive energy here. I think they must've got new management, but there's a complete different vibe in here than anywhere else, it's a very fun easy going atmosphere. This place will have you questioning where you are, because surely San Diego has never seen anything like this entertainment venue before. Candy Shop welcomes you with an actual candy shop (speak easy style) where you can buy real candy before entering the club, once you're inside you're surrounded by walls covered in beautiful FUN artwork and catchy neon signs that make you want to take a pic at every turn. I went opening weekend and I was blown away by the number of beautiful girls in one place- they all had great energy and knew how to create a party. There were choreographed shows throughout the night with pole dancers, acrobats, and even fire dancers! The artsy decor carries over into the ladies room, which is well maintained and just as lovely as the rest of the club. For opening weekend I am pleasantly surprised with how seamless their operations appeared, from hosts to management, to bartenders and bottle service girls.
