a display of candy in a store
    Rae G.

I have stopped into this candy and sweet shop many times, primarily looking for E&A old fashioned Clear Toy, a century old Lititz confection. They did not disappoint this year as they had a few winter themed pops to go in my Christmas stockings. This shop is 3 rooms full of candies, specialty sodas, gifts and party items. There are buckets full of a variety of what used to be called penny candy a few generations ago. I gave only 4 stars just because much of what they offer is available other places, even at the local Stauffers sometimes, including the E&A clear toy. I do not find that the rare and obsolete candies and confections are available here and I think that is a missed opportunity. If they sold filberts, what my mom used to call moth balls, french creams, chocolate straws, candy mold made clear toy, and old tymie stuff like Skybars I would think I had gone to heaven. I stopped in last Easter to see if I could get the old fashioned sugar eggs with a diorama inside. I learned they are not made anyplace but Germany and I guess too cost prohibitive to carry. But this is just the type of thing I expect/hope to find in a cool store like this. On the large chalk board at the entrance is a message letting parents know that if their child licks something, they have to buy it. What a shame they have to post that, and I was told the amount of parents who give a child something to slobber on while they shop and expect to put it back is astounding. So they have curbed that as much as possible. What a shame they even have to deal with that idiocy. If you are of a somewhat younger generation you will be, to turn an obvious phrase, like a kid in a candy store. For me looking for those almost impossible to find childhood candy memories, not so much.

If Willy Wonka set up shop in Lititz this place might be what his store would look like especially if he had a fetish for the color pink. Room after room stocked from floor to ceiling with every imaginable sugar laden product from old school candy like Necco Wafers and Chuckles (Fav-Holla!) to a huge display for Valentine's Day to Jones Soda (Peanut Butter Soda anyone?) to simple things like stick candy in flavors that included bacon and maple syrup. The store is set up in a row house environment so you go from room to room and each one has a completely different theme/set of contents from the next. Only two things worth noting: * If you are a chocolate person this place is not for you as while there are some chocolate items this place's focus is more on straight candy and not on chocolates or chocolate products. * The prices are very reasonable and the selection is huge. Sure it's in the middle of nowhere and yes parking can be a bit tough during the day on Main Street but if you're in the area and want a blast back to the past or if you want to do your oral surgeon a favor, come often.

Candyology is an adorable little shop that caught my eye while walking around Lititz. Wall to wall rows of candy and cute little knickknacks. Not too much chocolate though, they could use some help in the chocolate department. I thought the prices were reasonable and it was very clean, beautiful displays. We did walk around the shop alone for 10 minutes before the sales clerk walked in, that was kind of weird.

One of the MANY unique sodas you'll find here.
