Brian understands dogs, but he can be rude and unprofessional to people- especially women. He does not want anything to do with you while he has your dog, despite what he says. He will warn people that his communication is "direct," but that is inaccurate. His responses are dramatic cut-and-paste messages that often have nothing to do with your own request. My dog got what it needed from training, but lost a good amount of weight. When this was pointed out to the assistant, they reviewed their instructions- sure enough, the wrong amount of food was listed. It should have been obvious for a dog that size. read more

I wasn't really sure what to expect when my rescue beagle, Guinness, came home from his 45 days of training with Brian. Guinness went in the training session because of his biting. He came out a very confident pup. He was calmer and seemed just more well rounded (if that makes sense for a dog). And, Brian brought him back to my home and spent 2 hours training my dog walker and me how to best work with Guinness. Guinness walks great and I'm working on some further issues with him. I am by no means a review type person. This is in fact my first one! I felt so compelled after my experience with Brian, that i had to share. My story is like most, I had a puppy that i wanted to start off on the right foot. But i wasnt willing to send my baby just anywhere. After some research, and some conversations, we decided on CBS. Boy am i glad we did. We enrolled Harper in a puppy training program. Brian taught our baby how to act to put it simply. Harper, our baby Giant Schnauzer, returned home very calm and eager to please us. She has been super delightful to have around friends, with us often getting compliments about her behavior. Most people cant believe she such a young puppy because her behavior is so calm. Her drive to play bite, unlike most puppies, is almost zero! She sits naturally and awaits our next move every single day! And her loose leash walking is damn near perfect! Upon Harpers return home, Brian gave us a few hours of one on one training to train us (the humans) on how to act and expect certain things. In that time I learned I was a tad old fashioned in my ways. Brian's approach is a much calmer, easier, positive way to achieve good results. I could brag for hours quite honestly. With that said, I saved the best part for last. I judge a place on how happy my dog is to return there. Harper whines and wiggles her little tail and butt in joy, as we pull in the driveway. Brian came to our home May 6 of last year. Prior to his arrival he asked that an extensive form is filled out with information about our dog. One of the questions is what food does your dog eat. Our dog eats a plant based food called V Dog. We researched it extensively before first using it with our last dog, Champ, who lived way past his life expectancy. He was an English Bulldog and lived to be over 10 (a good run for that breed). I also discovered that several of the longest lived dogs (Guinness), also ate a plant based diet, also our dog loves it, also we are vegan. I've experienced "specialists" of all sorts, trying to talk me out of this diet for a dog, so I contacted Brian prior to signing up with him, and very clearly stated that I would not be ok with his coming to our home and trying to talk us into using some other food. He politely agreed and said he only asks about food, so he can keep the info on file in case he ever needed to board our dog. Great.. we signed up. He arrived at our front door, and immediately I just didn't like him... felt to me like he had an aggressive/unhappy vibe that I didn't like. Within 5 minutes he was hassling me about what he thinks dogs should eat and why (yes dogs are descended from carnivores...but so are Pandas....dogs are now officially omnivores). He knows not a lot about dog nutrition...and he began doing exactly what I explicitly asked him not to do?!....preach to me about diet. I told him I wanted my money back because he didn't live up to his word to not discuss diet. He said nope, no refunds...so he stayed for the session. It was supposed to be 2-3 hours... it was just under 2. Is he a good dog trainer? I guess. I couldn't really get past the other stuff. read more

Every day I am grateful for Brian, Laura and the team at CBS. Just days after adopting Cher (12 lb Chihuahua mix), we knew we needed help. Cher was very fearful and exhibiting reactive behaviors on leash and around the house. We turned to Brian, and I'm so glad we did. Cher came home 2 weeks ago and is much more balanced, relaxed and confident. More importantly: we now know what to do! Blue and Molly both spent a seven-night sleepover at CBS. Blue lights up once he sees his buddies, and he gets to play and run all he wants. Molly has been diagnosed with a chronic disease that makes it difficult for her to eat and drink and she is taking medications. I emailed CBS before making a reservation to be sure they would be willing to take Molly because of her issues. If CBS couldn't take Molly, we would have canceled our trip because we won't leave Blue or Molly anywhere else. CBS welcomed Molly with open arms and she did wonderfully while she was there. CBS has so many things you can add to your pups' stay (e.g., walks, baths, training). Response to emails and/or phone calls is almost immediate. You get pictures and updates while they are there. Working with Brian and Canine Behavioral Services was the best decision we made when we adopted our puppy, Bailey!!! I knew that it was important for us to be on the same page when training our new dog but we didn't know how. Brian came to our home and worked with all of us, training us to give Bailey the best start. Brian Manning was recommended to us by our dog trainer at he time. She told us that Zeus is too much for her after he bit her. We were running out of time with our very aggressive and very anxious beautiful 2 year old rescued German Shepherd, Zeus. Neither my son nor I were willing to give up. My husband at the time, had enough of it, Zeus either had to behave or go back to the shelter. After months of training and a couple of thousands of dollars spent on in house and out of the house training we were at the end of our rope. We tried everything, from Tufts to local classes. Just as a warning - Yelp thinks too many good reviews about one business equals "too good to be true". Brian Manning isn't one of those - he's just really that good! __________________________________________________ Brian Manning is the man. No, he's THE MAN. I wish I could get a huge billboard for him, because SOOOOOOOO many dog owners need his services. How did I find him? I used the Cesar Millan website to search for local CM approved places, and found Brian Manning. OK so as a background, my dog is one of those dogs that if it were anyone else, they'd say he was the best dog ever, and he has no problems. But because he's a German Shepherd, I wanted to avoid any future problems, and hired Brian to be able to detect anything that might become problematic in the future. For one, my dog pulled the crap out of my mom and my boyfriend on walks, so I really thought this was necessary. Also, I wanted someone who would be there to help with evaluating my dog with other dogs and help us read body language to make sure there wouldn't be any dog fights. Basically, Brian was my preventative medicine for my dog. A sort of vaccine against any behavioral problems, and that's what Brian has done for us. He is incredibly knowledgable, and from the get go, he has been WONDERFUL with me, my mom, and my boyfriend (and of course, my dog!). He has taught us so much, and has been helping us with my dog's confidence level. For pricing, I really didn't think he was too bad, but if you're the stingy type, you might be upset. He's so worth it though. He's one of the few people out there that will take an aggressive dog, too. He's just very calming in any situation. As a warning, if you call him, you might think he's a bit rude (I had to tell him off on day one on the phone), but he apologized and explained that he gets a ton of phone calls a day and it builds up (understandable, I do life coaching on the side and I can get that way sometimes). He is, however, incredibly friendly and insightful in person and in email. I have been recommending Brian to everyone I met with doggy issues. We used this organization back in 2016. Brian did his part in training our dogs. I registered 2 of them. They are over all well mannered - thank God we could keep our family! The 3 star rating is more so associated with the ethical handling of this company. I remember the first day Brian brought home our dogs. They were a little over 1 years old. Brian threw their water bowl at their cage several times and petrified them. For goodness sake he petrified me. Til this day our dogs don't like loud sounds. But on the upside they were inside their kennel! Thank God Again. I had a contract with this organization that explicitly states the service agreement is between Canine Behavioral Services Inc. and myself. Sometime last week I wrote to schedule my last in home session. A year later I know! Their "client services" person responds stating they could not locate my account. Needless to say I was shocked. Spent a large sum of money for inpatient training. Apparently, my husband asked them to change the name of the account to him and they honored his request without a single notification to me. Husband or not husband the contract is between Canine Behavioral Services Inc. and Me. How come he had the authority to make such a big decision. Worst part of all I asked for a copy of my service agreement to indicate the true account holder and he refused to supply. Actually he stated his Accountant has the copy and he didn't want to spend the time or money to provide. This man actually said literally I was wasting his time! His worker said I'm over thinking things! I said to myself the employee is only as good as their boss expect nothing more. Also, in our communications Brian constantly mentions how "I didn't want my husband name on the account" THIS IS NOT ABOUT whether or not he is my husband. This is about the principles adopted by this company! He stated he called his lawyer. Well clearly Brian, he is not a contract lawyer. I would be happy to challenge you if you would like to waste more time and money. This man simply does not know when to stop and is unaccountable. The time Brian at Canine Behavioral Services has taken with me and my goldendoodle puppy, Lucy, couldn't have been better spent (or more appreciated). Brian was just as wonderful with my Lucy as he was working with me. I feel like he heard my cry for HELP working with my puppy. Brian treated me like family and didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear. I love Lucy but she's like a toddler whose language I still don't speak. Brian has been responsive to my questions (LOTS of them) and patient when I don't quite remember. He's remained so positive even when I'm feeling frustrated. I have a traumatic brain injury so I don't learn as easily and it can take a lot of repetition. For me, learning something new is a slow, difficult process. I feel like Brian is as dedicated and committed as I am to making this training relationship successful. I didn't feel pressured and really enjoyed our training together. I'm so impressed he didn't 'ditch' me after the 2 week training - I know I have his support and that means so much. As a former employee and client....If your looking for dog training please go somewhere else! I enrolled my 12 week old puppy into Brian's puppy workshop.. he told me that because of my dogs size (20lbs) and breed (German shepherd malamute mix) that she would be getting big dog treatment. He lead me to believe that I could trust him and my dog would be in good hands. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I get a phone call and text messages saying that my puppy was at ocean state Veterinary specialist because Brian's personal "A-Team" dog that he used as part of his training program "liesel" who is a 2 year old female rottweiler...decided she wanted to rip a hole in my puppies groin area causing 2 lacerations that resulted in 9 stitches and my puppy not being able to have any form of activity for 2-3 weeks. Im not talking puncture wounds either.... In top of that, it was failed to be reported to the Animal Control Officer in that town. The emotional heart break my family is currently going through and the trauma my dog experienced is not worth the price tag. His training methods are clearly not fool proof... read more

I have been using CBS for over 5 years! I originally sent one of my dogs for in-patient therapy after she began to show increasing aggression to my oldest female after I added a third dog to my pack. She came back a changed dog. Both she and I learned so much! Since then, I have sent ALL of my dogs for some type of training. One for Canine Manners Camp and most recently I sent my newest addition to the Puppy Workshop. I also frequently (5-7 times per year) send my dogs back to CBS when I travel. I trust Brian and his staff completely and know that when my dogs are there, they are not only getting well taken care of they are getting the structure they need. I would highly recommend Brian and his team for helping your dog. Our adopted coonhound, Rosco had shown some aggressive behavior towards myself and was a bit of a bully with other dogs. He had also become very reactive to our neighbors barking dog and being a coonhound it was his voice that the neighbors all heard. Rosco has been back with us for two weeks now and is a changed dog. He is less reactive and seems to be looking to us for leadership. The training and services clearly helped but so has Brian's training and advice to us when Rosco came back home. He was able to help us understand why he was doing some of the things he was dong and how we can help to control some of those behaviors. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are much more comfortable with Rosco and he is much more comfortable in our home. read more

I asked about pricing and I was told it was$375 for two and how sessions. My puppy Harper is turning 1 year old this month. I decided to get her in March 2020 after many, many years of having a household without a dog. We wanted a well behaved dog and she seemed to be doing ok for the most part but there were some behaviors that we just couldn't get under control by ourselves. We needed some help. My husband knew a couple of people who trained dogs, one of them being Brian. We contacted someone else first and had one session with them. There were a couple of things that the trainer mentioned doing that I wasn't crazy about. So, I decided to review Brian's website and I really liked the philosophy. Harper was having some difficulties with jumping, play biting, barking and resource guarding. We started with the 2 week puppy manners board and train program. It was hard sending her away for 2 weeks when I had just gotten her. But, we did it and felt that she came back a calmer pup. Brian spent 2 hours training us to work with her when he brought her home. We felt that we were off to a good start. We drifted some in our training with Harper and recently had a refresher session with Brian to keep us on the right path. He is upfront and honest with his communication keeping your dog's needs in the forefront. Harper also attends doggy daycare twice a week. I feel happy and relaxed knowing that when Harper is at daycare she is well taken care of and is having fun. I love seeing the pictures of the pups on the face book page. I have had many dogs over the years and thought that getting a new puppy wouldn't be that difficult. It was a challenge and I haven't always done everything correct, so I am thankful that I have had the guidance and support of Brian and all his staff at CBS to help Harper become a well behaved and well balanced dog. It was back in 2015 that I first contacted Brian at Canine Behavioral Services to work with our new Cavachon puppy named Emma. We got Emma as a 12-week old runt of the litter and after a few weeks it became very clear that we needed some professional assistance to get Emma going in the right direction. From housebreaking to crate training, leash walking, nuisance barking, and submissive urination, Emma was afraid of everything and it was pretty challenging to figure out how to help his little 7lb cutie with the skills that we have. This is when I found Brian and contacted him for help. Emma spent some time with Brian and his staff and was boarded a few times when we went on vacation. The transformation this dog made under Brian's care and instruction was nothing less than remarkable. By following through on Brian's re-homing training, Emma has become the amazing dog we knew she would. She is a model leash walker, unafraid of other dogs, never exits a door without be told she can, doesn't jump on guests, the furniture or anything she's not invited on. When she wants your attention, she will sit and look at you, waiting patiently for you to acknowledge her. She's the best, and based on this experience I knew If we ever got another dog I would be reaching out to Brian for his guidance once again. That day came in December when we rescued our newest family member name Ivory. Ivory, a shepherd lab mix, was rescued from Alabama and is about 9 months old. We rescued her on November 28, 2020 and by December 1st I knew this gentle, nervous girl needed the help Canine Behavioral Services could provide. Ivory was insecure and afraid of everything. She wouldn't leave the house. Getting her to go outside to go to the bathroom was an act of frustration. Using treats and all the positivity in the world wouldn't get her to budge. On a leash, she would plop herself down and put on the breaks. She wouldn't move. I'd have to lift her up and carry her to the backyard, so at that point I reached out to Brian and scheduled a board and train because I knew that Brian and the staff would provide the right guidance and environment for Ivory to find balance and begin to thrive. I dropped her off on December 9, carrying her out of the car and by her re-homing session on December 23rd a calmer, more confident dog was reunited with us. As guilty as you might feel dropping your dog off for two-weeks or more, when you get them back you realize you made the right decision and wish you would have done it sooner. Brian is extremely thorough and thoughtful in replying to your emails and the daily updates with pictures on the company website and Facebook gives you a peek into the progress your dog is making. The day he brought Ivory back, he spent two whole hours training us to help Ivory continue on with her progress. He also followed the training up with a detailed email of what we went over, the things to continue to work on with Ivory as well as a .pdf so we could print it out and refer to it daily. I will tell you, she's a different dog today than she was the day we dropped her off. She's walking on a leash, going to the door when she needs to go to the bathroom, she's no longer pacing and whining, she's crate trained, an angel in the car, and she gets along great with the new dogs she's been interacting with. We just need to make sure we continue on with her education as outlined by Brian so that Ivory can be the be a happy, balanced dog that can thrive in any environment. Today, I have a house with two amazing and well-behaved dogs that probably wouldn't have been possible if it were left solely to me. I believe in Brian, his training philosophy, and every one of the staff there. Brian has a unique ability to connect with these dogs and has now helped me twice. We used Canine behavioral services for our puppy last year for their puppy workshop. They did great with him and he came back to us a far improved little dog! We then used them again over the thanksgiving weekend and they took him in and we're also going to provide some refresher training, however when we picked him up, he came back to us with a limp. The explanation was that "he must have slept funny" however he limped for a week and we even had him on anti inflammatories to help with the pain. I understand that things happen with dogs, but to be lied to about what happened to our dog was unacceptable. There's no way that sleeping funny would cause a week long limp! read more

We love CBS! Our dog Chuck has been boarding with Canine Behavioral Services for four years. We first began utilizing their services four years ago when our other dog, Spencer, was enrolled in the in-patient rehab program. They helped him with his problems with aggression and helped us to create a calm environment for both Spencer and Chuck. Even though we sadly lost Spencer last year, we still will ALWAYS choose the boarding services at CBS for Chuck. They have been incredible with Chuck, and very accommodating of his dietary and medical needs, of which he has a few! On top of that, Chuck gains more and more confidence every time he boards with CBS, becoming a far less anxious dog than he once was in the past. He benefits greatly from socializing with the pack as well as other dogs in boarding and training programs. Brian Manning and his team at Canine Behavioral Services saved our dog's life. Spencer, a five and a half year old boxer beagle rescue, had been living with us for over three years. About 99% of the time, he had the sweetest, loving nature. But the random 1% of the time was bad. He would randomly demonstrate aggressive behaviors over the past couple years. He and our other boxer beagle mix, Chuck, had gotten into fights, growing in both frequency and in severity in recent months. Spencer had even bit me twice, both times when startled awake, one of the times requiring stitches. He had snapped at guests before too, and so the more time passed, the more we chose to separate him from others. We grew more and more anxious in our house, fearing that things would get worse, until they did. During the Fourth of July weekend, after becoming extremely anxious due to hours of fireworks at several of our neighbor's homes, Spencer had an episode in which he bit my husband several times. We didn't think we had any options left but to try to relocate him somewhere that may rehabilitate him, and find him another home. We did a lot of research, and we looked to our vet for support on relocation, but we continuously received the same response - euthanasia. We were heartbroken. We love Spencer so much, despite the pain we were experiencing, and we experienced so much doubt as we tried to find the shelter that was least likely to resort to euthanasia. Three difficult days later, we were waiting for a return call from a location that we believed we would surrender Spencer to the next morning. Instead, we got another call- a trainer who pointed us in a direction that led to Canine Behavioral Services. By the end of that day, we were in touch with Brian, who was more than willing to help us all out. After all, we knew that Spencer had behaviors that needed correcting, but we knew that, as his owners, we absolutely did as well. We brought Spencer to CBS in mid-July. At the start, the hope was to have him rehabilitated within seven weeks. However by week four, it was determined that he was not making progress that was anticipated. After meeting with a vet upon Brian's recommendation, Spencer began to take an SSRI called Fluoxetine (Prozac). This was to help with his anxieties and fearful, unsure nature. His stay at CBS was extended an additional four weeks, giving Brian and his team the appropriate amount of time to rehabilitate Spencer as his medication kicked in. The entire time, Brian kept us informed about Spencer's progress via email and regular Facebook updates. At the end of September, Brian brought Spencer home and worked with us for a few hours. Spencer was clearly a more relaxed, self-confident dog looking to us for leadership. Brian took the time to demonstrate how to communicate with Spencer, and how to understand what his body language communicates to us. It was clear that the biggest obstacle we needed to overcome was letting go of our own fear. The last incident was so frightening to us, but we had to let it go if we were to build mutual trust with Spencer. If we continued to attempt leadership while displaying anxiety, Spencer would regress and feed off of our anxieties... then what would the point of sending him to training have been? So we let it go. We have been working hard at being calm, confident leaders for Spencer. Brian returned for a follow-up visit three weeks after Spencer came home, and advised us to allow Spencer more time to socialize with Chuck, while continuing to build on our socialization with him at a slow but steadily increasing rate. Spencer has now been home for seven weeks, and has been flourishing in what has become a comfortable environment. Knowing we can board Spencer at the facility that trained him and will continue to focus on his wellbeing brings us such peace of mind. We know that Spencer is not the typical social dog. This is a re-posting. Yelp "filtered out" my first posting. ----------------------------------------------- Brian Manning is an amazingly gifted dog (and people) trainer. I found Brian when I was looking for help with persistent issues with my dog--he was reactive towards other dogs, going for walks was a nightmare, he was unpredictably snappy towards me, and he was a horrible resource guarder. These behaviors crept in and got worse over time. I consulted other trainers with little improvement. I became increasingly frustrated and thought there was no hope. And then I found Brian. It was clear to me during our first consultation that Brian understands dogs at a level that most trainers don't. His approach doesn't just rely on clickers, treats, special collars, etc. It's really about helping your dog find balance by developing the right relationship between dog and human and presenting the right kind of energy. Those other methods may be tools in the process, but it is ultimately the relationship between human and dog that creates balance. After my initial consultation with Brian, I decided to send my dog, Scout, to Brian's "in patient" program. Scout lived with Brian and his "pack" for 6 weeks, and he came home an entirely different dog. But even more important than training my dog, Brian then stared training *me*. There is no doubt that Brian can resolve any behavioral issue your dog has. But in order for these changes to become permanent, you need to change many of your behaviors as the owner. In my case, I was absolutely not being the leader, which was the root of my dog's issues. When Scout came home, I had to make A LOT of changes to the way I dealt with my dog. I won't lie, it was a tough adjustment at first. But Brian gave me the chance for a "do over," and I wasn't going to blow it. And let me tell you, it was so worth it. I now have the relationship with my dog that I always wanted to have. His resource guarding issues are behind us; he is no longer leash reactive; I can take him to dog parks and he has a blast; and most importantly, I learned how to be his leader. I am so much happier, and if Scout could talk, I think he would tell you that he is happier too. What's also really important here is that Brian is always there to support you. The re-homing process takes a lot of adjustment for you as the owner. Your progress won't happen in a straight line, because it is a significant adjustment for both you and your dog. Brian is ALWAYS there for your, he responds very promptly and thoroughly to any of your questions or concerns. He doesn't just drop your dog off and then disappear. He genuinely wants to make sure that you and your dog succeed for the long-term. Brian has allowed me to have a relationship with my dog that I never thought I could have. Scout and I aren't perfect, and we work on it every day, but the progress we have made is mind blowing. I know that some people think that overly glowing reviews are fakes. I first met Brian when I needed help with teaching my 2 Golden's how to walk properly on a leash , and to get some exercise-My older Golden, Tess, had always been over weight. Well, I didn't realize that, for Brian, exercising a dog, was nothing compared to what he really could do! I finally sent my 10 year old Golden, Tess, to Brian Manning's Boot Camp; Yes, a little too late, on my part, but I thought better late than never since she was beginning to have issues with her hind legs and she was not willing or happy to walk at all. Sitting down and eating the grass was as far as it got! After staying at Brian's for 1 month, I couldn't believe the transformation-Tess was thinner, actually willing and waiting to go for a walk, and overall just a happier dog! Brian knowledge about dogs is amazing-I thought Tess would miss me, and he explained dogs don't think that way-He was right-When he brought Tess over to visit me after taking her to the Vet to check her weight and overall health, she acted as if she had never left home. Thus, if one sends their dog to Brian, one doesn't get back a different dog, but a better one! Brian also told me what types of food to give her and the amounts. A few years later, Brian then helped me with my other Golden, Oliver (3 years old)! My Husband never believed in leashes-His theory was "Let a dog be a dog" and would let them run on the beach and in the wood freely. When he passed away from a brain aneurysm, I was left with a dog who would constantly pull and take off after other dogs while walking him, so I called Brian. He recommended the "Sprenger" collar to me, and it took no more than4 seesions before Oliver was walking like a dog should! I call Brian "The Dog Whisperer"-I find it rather unbelievable how he understands dogs so well! Also, whenever I have an issue, I know I can call Brian and get the correct answer! Brian's name should be on a billboard; I know he trains dogs from all over the country, and he is worth every penny! It's amazing seeing someone so compassionate about what they do! read more

We utilized Brian and his services two years ago when our Australian Cattle Dog was exhibiting increased levels of aggression when encountering other dogs during walks. He's a great dog but just needed some "fine-tuning", and we wanted to make sure that any bad habits were corrected quickly before they worsened. Brian came over to our house quickly to meet us and "Red Dog" and assess the overall environment and how we interacted (and vice versa). During the meeting, it quickly became apparent to us that both we and our dog needed some comprehensive effort to get back on-track, and instead of the "home-schooling", we opted for the "in-patient" month-long program at Brian's facility. It was obviously upsetting and frustrating to our daughter for our dog to be gone for so long, but we all agreed it was the right thing to do. I truly can say that we were incredibly impressed wtih the follow-up results for Red Dog. Spending time with the "Pack" that Brian uses at the facility really helped to acclimate Red Dog to other dogs, and Brian really reinforced other good behaviors in him as well. Brian also spent a number of sessions post-treatment with us at our house to help provide additional direction for us to follow and we found this extremely helpful. I should also add that part of the month-long in-patient program ran over into our planned vacation, and Brian was extremely flexible and kept Red Dog at his facility during this time as well (with no extra charge), and I'm sure the extra time further helped during the treatment. We would recommend Brian to anyone or any family having issues with their dog. As long as you vigilantly adhere to his advice and recommendations, I'm confident he can make a significant difference in any dog's (and their family) behavior. We still board Red Dog several times with Brian during any vacations, even though there are boarding kennels located much closer within our area. Red Dog is always happy to see both Brian and his "pack buddies" anytime he's boarded there. Again, the key to success is listening to Brian and his time-tested methods, and in asking him any and all follow-up questions that may arise both in advance, during, and after either of his available progams. I posted this in March - so here it is AGAIN! "Canine Behavioral Services owner Brian Manning has been a blessing in disquise for me. His motto is perfect; "Therapy for dogs, training for people". It is magical watching him work with me and two of our dogs. Both are rescue dogs with some "behavior " issues, magnified by my being viciously attacked by a dog. With Brian's help, I am working on my fear and anxiety and "training" to be the "pack" leader, while our chocolate lab Charlie learns to become balanced and calm. Brian, his staff, and his pack of dogs at Canine Behavioral Services are some of the best in their industry. I am so thankful that I got in contact with them after one incident I just could not overlook. My 2 year old small terrier often got so excited and anxious she would displace that negative energy through biting, and one time my young nephew was too close and got bitten. After searching on the web for trainers somewhere near me I found Brian and knew he was worth contacting. After a few phone calls I decided to enroll my dog in his 45 day in-house rehab program. Throughout her stay Brian was VERY professional - he communicated through email and always answered any questions I had very promptly. He shared photos and videos and updated me with any issues or progress. It made my dog's time away from me much easier because I could see she was in such good hands. Brian visited once during her rehab stay to discuss progress and steps going forward. He never sugar-coated anything and gave us the truth, which frankly, is what we needed to hear. When Brian brought our dog back for the rehome she was a different dog. She seemed at peace with herself and so much happier. However, do not think that a few weeks with Brian and a seemingly new dog makes those changes permanent because it's the human owner that needs the fixing. I have changed through Brian's guidance, while enhancing my relationship with my dog. It is not easy, but it's what is necessary to keep my dog happy and calm. Brian gave me the tools to keep my dog happy, engaged, and constantly learning. We have more good days than bad, but I now know how to deal with the bad days. He is available for the rest of my dog's life to help with any questions or problems and is still as responsive as he has always been. I have created a trustworthy friendship with Brian which really means so much to me. Brian Manning is a true professional, and works wonders with his amazing pack! Our 9 month old dalmatian had developed bad habits, and was basically running our household. We were concerned that he actually thought his name was "CooperNO" instead of "Cooper"! The best way to describe Cooper's experience at Manners Camp is that they hit a "reset" button...Cooper now knows and displays correct and appropriate behaviors (most of the time...and is easily correctible when not). My 11-year-old Mini Dachshund, Buster, without any question, had a very unhealthy attachment to me to the point where it was causing him great anxiety whenever we were around other people and animals. After careful consideration and research, I contacted Canine Behavioral Services and enrolled in the in home private session behavioral program. During Brian's first visit, after a thorough evaluation of both myself and Buster, it became clear to him that Buster would benefit from more extensive training than the in home sessions could provide. Brian suggested we enroll him in the in-patient behavioral program. At first I said "no way, you can't take my fur baby for 6 weeks". But Brian was so kind and understanding and after talking me off the "ledge" - he explained the reasons why this would be the best option for my poor Buster. Well, he sure was right. The team at CBS is amazing. They kept in touch with me, posted pictures and progress updates throughout the whole program right on their Facebook page. Not only did Buster come back a well-balanced, calm, obedient happy little man, but Brian continues to teach me to be the leader I need to be to ensure that Buster never has to carry the unhealthy burden again. Brian Manning is amazing,professional, and talented. He took our rotty to his in house behavioral program for 6 weeks. She came back extremely improved, in better shape, and well trained. Upon arrival for Layla to come back home, Brian spent hours with us in our home to train us on how to use the tools and training exercises needed to help continue our dogs progress. He truly cares about animals, and has a natural talent with dogs. We ran out of this special kind of dog food that is only available online ( suggested to us by Brian) and because of the recent snow blizzard our shipment got stuck behind leaving us without food for Layla. Since Brian uses the same kind, we called to see if we could come over and purchase a bag...Brian brought it to our house even though the roads are a snowy mess and we don't live close. 2014 marks one year since Simba finished his rehab training with Brian P. Manning at Canine Behavioral Services Inc. and let me say it has been one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life. Simba, our almost 4 year old rescued Pit Bull mix, began showing aggression after the passing of our first dog, Scooter. He was aggressive to people and dogs alike. After trying trainer after trainer, my family was losing hope in Simba pulling through as a "normal" dog. Some even suggested we put him down... but I wasn't about to give up so easily. We found Brian at the end of 2012 and every day since has been a step forward for Simba and me. He went through 6 weeks of rehab at CBS, and I was left to follow in Brian's footsteps as leader. When he came home, he wasn't perfect. In fact, he never will be. But we were that much closer to behavioral balance. I never gave up on Simba and Brian never gave up on us... and we continued training by taking trips to local dog parks. To this day, I am confident that with the proper introduction, Simba can meet almost every person without issue, and he continues to trust and amaze me as we approach strangers and he behaves perfectly, looking to me for every move. With dogs, Simba has learned to not make a scene on the street with me any longer, and simply waits at my side (whining of course). We continue to take regular trips to the dog park, but have yet to make it inside confidently. Seeing these recent photos of Simba at CBS has been truly amazing. Brian and his pack have demonstrated what I thought would never be possible. I am thrilled at his progress and could not be more ready to help Simba become the dog I know he can be.
