Towards the end of his life, he was sick with a heart murmur. So she had to be very careful with him the last few times she groomed him. Every time CJ came in, she was so happy to see him. Now she grooms my new dog. He's hyper active, anxious, dominant male, 11 pound dog. He pees every where in her shop. She knows how to deal with him. They recognize us on site and our dog is never afraid to be left off. We toured pretty much every kennel in the state (8-years ago) and this was by far the best choice. They kept their facilities clean and had friendly professional staff....not high school / college kids. The runs are decent size and our dog never comes back too stinky (i mean, it is a kennel...but not covered in feces or urine like other places we have been). hey also have Dog & cat grooming services. My biggest complaint is they are no longer open on sundays. This really ramps up the cost if you are just doing an overnight from Sat to Sun. Now I can't pick up my dog until Monday afternoon because I have to go to work all day first? That seems a little 'iffy to me.T

Once we started to train him and observe his behavior, it became evident that the dog was left unattended for long periods of time and the breeder was just in it for the money. This was reinforced by the fact that nobody ever answers the phone and there's no capability to leave a voice message. The dog obviously had no socialization with people or other animals in his first five months. He was overly aggressive from the beginning and constantly growled and lunged at people and other dogs, starting with the basic obedience class we attended. Despite hiring two reputable trainers, it was not possible to break him of the barking and lunging at people and other dogs. We have to keep him outside, or on a leash, with a muzzle, whenever anyone comes to visit. He even bit one of the trainers and came close to biting my son on the arm and my girlfriend in the face. I contacted four animal shelters and none of them would take him because they said he was too aggressive and therefore "unadoptable." I guess I'll just have to keep dealing with it. I've owned other Shepards before and never had a problem with training. They're smart dogs and usually learn quickly. I would recommend to anyone looking for a German Shepard to find a reputable breeder with good references and not someone just looking to make a buck.

This is the third dog we have have been boarding at Warwick Pet Lodge over the past 30 years. All…read moreof them have always been ready to jump out of the car and run toward the "Puppy Hotel" as soon as we make the turn off Jefferson Boulevard! When we pull up into the parking lot our present dog, Honey, can hardly wait to run in to see Frank. I'm sure there are more extravagant places to board our dog; however, I'm also sure that none can beat the care and attention our dog gets while she's there! Cosmetics isn't everything. The kennel where our dog is kept is clean and is, I'm sure, washed down more than once a day. She is her own large cage and at the end of each cage is a door which Frank opens so the dogs can go out into the I own fenced- in run...I would say it is about 10 feet long and approximately 4 1/2 feet wide, so there is plenty of room for her to move around inside and plenty of room for her to play during her outside time. Not once, in all of the years we have been boarding our pets there have any of them ever come back with so much as a flee or any type of illness. As a matter of fact they seem to come home cleaner than when we dropped them off! Frank is usually always working around the back where the animals are boarded and always talks to the animals. This last time when we boarded Honey it had been over a year since she had been there, and Frank remembered her name and Honey ran toward him as though he were her long-lost friend! (So much for loyalty! LOL!) She went right in the back with him as if we had disappeared! !! Hmmm!!! I must say though that it always gives us a peace of mind knowing that she, (and our two other dogs that have now passed), actually love being boarded. Frank is very picky when it comes to which cats or dogs he will board. If your furry friend is over a certain age and has never been boarded, don't bother calling. I think that Frank may feel, and rightfully so, that if your dog is 5 years old and has never been out of your sight or boarded it is not fair to send him/her to a kennel for a week. I'm sure it could be a very traumatic experience. All animals have to be up-to-date with all of their immunizations and one must leave an emergency number or two and the animal's vet's name. We happen to take Honey to the vet that Frank's wife works with so that is a plus for Honey...she not only loves Frank but also his wife. Another great advantage is that Frank lives right upstairs so either he or the Mrs. are there 24/7. I find this to be very comforting. So if you are looking for a wonderful, caring place to board your pet, I feel that you can't go wrong with Warwick Pet Lodge! Oh just a little tip...when we first get our dog we get them used to being boarded by leaving them several times for a night or two on a weekend when we are home so they know we will be back for them. All of our dogs have been rescued from shelters and we don't want them to think they are being deserted again! That way when we leave them for longer periods of time they are all ready for their stay at their favorite home away from home!

The Kennel itself is at the owners home, so say if the dogs are unhappy and barking, they are there to hear it. They don't just leave at 5PM and that's the end of it. I cannot speak about the price because I have nothing else to compare it to. The backyard is set up with runners and areas for the dogs to interact and housing for the dog to sleep. I suggest if your dog is used to sleeping in his own kennel to bring it with him so he has something familiar. I did that. I was a little worried about my dog going to a Kennel because he doesn't play with other dogs. I had told the owner this and when I had returned from my trip, she said that my dog handled the other animals great. He made some friends, he was a delight to have. If he ever has to be kenneled again he will go there. He likes the people, he seems comfortable from what I saw and he came back to me just as I had left him.
