Dmitry was great with my 3 bullies. They showed food aggression and he helped us deal with it and it's no longer an issue

We recently boarded our puppy at Hounds Town of Smithtown while on vacation. Our original…read moreperspective boarder cancelled a week before our vacation, so we were lucky Hounds Town had room for our pet. We liked how they post pictures and short videos of the dogs each day on their private Facebook page. That helped ease our minds about the well-being of our pet. The daily pricing, $65 per night, is quite reasonable. We felt that after boarding for 8 days, the $30 exit bath should have been complimentary, considering she came out with dirt around her eyes and gray dust and a foreign clipped hair on her still damp underside. Yuck, but easy to rectify. Additionally, when we picked her up, we didn't receive any feedback as to how she did during her stay. Then again, we did not ask because we were just anxious to be reunited with our dog. BUT....when the next family came in to retrieve their little pup, the person checking us out raved how THAT dog was one of her favorites and she gave him extra attention during feeding time. HELLO??? We are standing right there!!! What about our puppy? Was she left to feed on her own? Did she even eat all her food at meal times? She definitely lost weight during her stay. Other than those few hiccups, we were happy with our dog's stay at Hounds Town of Smithtown.

The staff is great and knows every dogs name that walks in. I totally recommend Hounds Town of Smithtown for daycare and/or boarding.

We've used other boarding facilities out of state, but this was the first time leaving our girls in NY. We needed somewhere we could have peace of mind, and they exceeded our expectations! The Farmingdale location is gorgeous. It's spacious, beautifully laid out, and so clean that you can't detect a dog smell. In order to make a reservation though, they did have to schedule a two-hour temperament evaluation prior to their stay. Once that was completed, we were able to continue on with finalizing our reservation. They offered two suite options, the Comfort and Imperial. Jacquelyn was a pleasure to work with. She was kindhearted, friendly, and really supportive in organizing their stay. She was the primary staff member who assisted us with check-ups, updates, occasional pictures, and check-out. Initially, our dogs may have been reserved, but afterwards, they were definitely excited to be there. My husband & I could tell they had a great time. Not only were they happy but the exit bath pampered them even further. Yeah, they were spoiled and will continue to be spoiled! We plan on bringing them here for our future vacation needs. Thank you so much for taking care of our girls!

Let me preface this by saying that I am a dog trainer, and I managed a training and daycare…read morefacility for six years. I asked every question under the sun at my dog's evaluation, and every answer was the one I was looking for. Additionally, my dog is not an 'easy' dog, he can be standoffish with strangers, but every staff member knew how to approach him without my having to comment, and he settled in really well. I appreciate especially their honesty when I asked if Arlo played with any other dogs - instead of lying to me and saying "of course!" without thinking, they explained to me that he needs to get used to a new environment and that "the play will come." That answer was stellar, and I feel comfortable knowing that staff will give me uncomfortable truths when they are needed rather than sugar coating their answers for a sale. I know my dog well, and their description of his behavior today was on point, I know for a fact that staff was watching him carefully and that makes me happy. I am glad to have a place to bring him now that I no longer work in the industry, it's a huge weight off of my shoulders. As to the reviews stating that the place smells - I have twice walked in during what seemed like rush hour and smelled nothing other than typical 'dog' smell, so I'm not sure what all that is about.

If you are reading this, your search for dog training stops here. This is the place you need and…read morethey will change your life! This sounds a little over the top BUT I'm not lying. I tell our trainers Katie and Nicole all of the time that they are life savers. We brought our puppy here at 1 years old - a small wild, energetic Jack Russell who knew every time I was on a video meeting to bark his head off and embarrass me EVERY TIME! Walks were out of the question since he would pull on the leash to the point he would choke himself... sitting on the deck was a nightmare in our own backyard because he would bark at the wind (yes, the wind), the leaves moving, the birds and obviously the neighbors. Does this sound familiar? I questioned my decision of getting a puppy and then I found Max K9. We did a 3 week Board & Train where I was super hesitant of dropping him off (because no one wants to leave their baby anywhere), but they were so good with sending video progress and pictures and including my husband and I in the process. I joke with everyone that I think they implanted a program into his brain! Lol! The transformation was unreal. We were instantly able to communicate with him and actually go on a walk.. outside in the real world. What a breath of fresh air, literally! Max K9 has given us the ability to live an active lifestyle and have our pup enjoy it with us. Hikes, traveling, morning walks, trips to the store, brewery visits, long car rides out of state... you name it. I would do it all over again if I had to without a question. So if you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope this helps you make your decision to having a better relationship with your pup and enjoying life with them every step of the way.

Stormie is a rescue who we adopted in 2019 and underwent 2 surgeries in 2021 due to bilateral CCL surgery. She was cooped up for an extended amount of time during recovery. We were unable to take her outside without her reacting to other dogs and sometimes even people. Stormie even gave us difficulty when we wanted to go for a short walk. It was so frustrating and difficult taking her out in public that we needed help. We have heard of Maximum K9 from many of our friends and even the great reviews I've seen on dog groups and online. I called to inquire about the types of training (group vs. individual) and it was clear that we needed to take private lessons. We signed up for a package of 6 lessons with Sherry that were one hour long for 6 consecutive weeks. Our first day, Sherry got to know about Stormie's behaviors - positive and negative, what we were having difficulty with and what our goals were. Sherry worked with us each week when training Stormie (and me) on how to modify or progress a skill. We learned how to heel, which we never were taught from another trainer elsewhere, and the importance of heel. We were given homework on what to practice from the training sessions to continue our work outside of the facility. Sherry helped Stormie become less dog reactive in a safe manner at Maximum K9. Stormie was slowly exposed to the board and train dogs in the facility that had various levels of size and temperament. Each week, Stormie learned how to follow her commands and not react to different dogs. With Sherry's consistent training, Stormie was able to heel with me in a circle with other dogs and sit next to them without any reaction at all. I cannot find the words to thank Sherry for helping Stormie and myself. I came into Maximum K9 with Stormie trying to pull my arm off and reacting to dogs in the lobby to now leaving with my arm back intact and her in a nice heel. I will refer all my dog lovers and friends to Maximum K9 and Sherry going forward! Thank you again!
