ok so heads up I'm gonna try to make my review as thorough as possible. It is clearly well deserved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yo is the best hands down. She is kind, communicative, and sincere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When in doubt always go to Yo! I do. But seriously Look no further (excellent with doodles and all dogs alike). Trainers are all very professional. Robert is awesome with bonding with larger, high energy dogs, and implementing impulse control with Nikki the crazy coco. It is very niche and job well done. Especially with Nikki Coco (my massive+ high energy standard bernadoodle puppy). It's a talent. Nikki is no princess but she's a gentle giant for sure. She is sensitive and has a very kind heart but she is very large and strong puppy no doubt... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hannah is very sweet also. She raised Diana (my beautiful baby mini goldendoodle) to be the sweetest, most lovable, cutest, and cuddliest baby girl of all time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Diana loves Hannah and school very much! Eric is an awesome driver for evening drop offs. He is very knowledgeable. I love [[HIGHLIGHT]]Melanie as well. Very communicative and the best.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lastly, [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you want anything done or When in a pinch always text Yo first. You are welcome. She makes everything happen. She makes the world go round and she truly runs the show. It's magic![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thank you Yo for everything everyday. Truly like a Disneyland for dogs. Amazing accomplishment! *Only place that I trust with my my doodle puppies. I love and appreciate that everyone connects and cares about Nikki (bernadoodle) and Diana (goldendoodle) as much as I do! Important notes to keep in mind:) - Clean school (+they wipe the paws Asian household friendly lol). If you know you know. - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Flexible for working professionals with busy schedules especially ie doctors, lawyers, business, and families[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - Picks and drop offs available for weekday academy - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Flexible with unpredictable grad school schedules (med school, law school, I.e) if you're a booked, committed, or busy student[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - Can leave fur babies when on vacation! 10/10 love - Trustworthy (I am patient but also a total perfectionist and hard critic)! Love cla. - Sustainable and friendly solution especially for busy, animal loving, working professionals! Just go sign up already you will thank me later (I promise in advanced! you are very, very welcome)! I think k covered all my bases. Sign up fast spots fill up ;)) xx much love and have a happy new year! And have a blessed day. love, j

[[HIGHLIGHT]]SO grateful to have found Yo and Canine Learning academy. We got a puppy thinking we were prepared, but we were so not.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We have 2 little kids and realized quickly we needed help. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called a couple of places and on the first call Yo spent about 20 min with me giving me tips and advice and I hadn't even hired her yet![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She took our 10 week puppy in for the board and train and was extremely responsive to every text and question I had once she was back home. The puppy classes on Saturday's have been super helpful too, her staff really cares about these dogs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thank you Yo and team for your kindness and compassion, we (and Sunny) are so thankful for you![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Yoanka helped us pick out our puppy, JD, five years ago. She provided initial training (potty training, manners, recall, etc.) that has served us well. She and Kurtis and other members of the CLA team continue to play important key roles in JD's life, making her the affectionate pet she is today. Thank you, Yoanka, and Canine Learning Academy for your continued presence in JD's life.

I spent a week with Yo for board and train and without her help, there's no way I could have handled bringing home a puppy! The mental support was just as important as the physical training! We got my puppy on a routine in 2 days and he started sleeping through the night in his crate on day 3! I appreciate their business moto of positive training, as I can see not just my puppy responding but all the other dogs and puppies they work with as well. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of dog behavior and how to correct unwanted behaviors. I was able to go home, supported by their online training site, and continue to train my puppy!

BEST DECISION EVER! From our initial consultation with Yo we knew our 1 year old Belle was in good hands. Yo was able to identify the issue we were having with Belle being protective over us and come up with a plan that Yo and Julie executed. During our in home sessions Julie gave us lots of helpful information and her instructions were clear and easy to follow. The entire staff is amazing and you can tell they love what they do and love all the dogs they train. We have now incorporated Belle going to daycare once a week. It's a great break for me to get work done and I know she loves it too. She comes home exhausted from a full day of mental stimulation and playing with her new dog friends. But most importantly we have seen a huge improvement with Belle at home. We used to have to cross the street when going on a walk if we saw people or another dog approaching as Belle would growl and bark at them until they passed, but now she has so much more confidence and doesn't react to people or dogs on our walks. We couldn't be happier with the results we are seeing!!! THANK YOU Canine Learning Academy!!

I was lucky enough to adopt a golden doodle pup named Maggie almost a year ago now. She was just over 2 months old at the time and I had never taken care of a puppy on my own before. Needless to say, I felt very overwhelmed and nervous I wasn't up to the task. I knew I needed help so I started looking for trainers. Canine Learning Academy came very highly recommended to me by a friend of mine who also had their pup, Darla, trained by them. We had a consultation with one of their trainers, Julie, and immediately I knew it was gonna be a perfect fit for me and Maggie. I'm very happy we decided to start training while she was super young because Julie helped us build an awesome foundation of communication for me and Maggie. I quickly realized that it wasn't just Maggie that was being trained, it was me. And Julie was so patient with me and kind and tremendously helpful. I call her my puppy therapist because she is always so attentive to all my questions and helped quell all my anxieties. She was always just a phone call or text away whenever something came up that I didn't know what I was doing. That alone made it worth every penny and then some. Maggie is a smart pup and Julie helped her more than exceed her potential. Canine Learning Academy has lots of options for training that fit practically any situation you might have. We went for private in person training at my apartment, but it also included group training and a ton of super helpful online content. Maggie is just over a year old now and I can confidently say that she is a GOOD dog and I truly have Julie and Canine Learning Academy to thank for that. If you have a new fur baby and are anxious about training on your own, I can't recommend these guys enough. Do you and your dog a favor and give them a try. If you wanna check out Maggie, she's got her own Instagram. @maggiedoodledawson

Her first day of school--they fit her with a perfectly sized harness and it also matched her playful personality

Still 5+ stars! We recently had a big life change (new baby) and the CLA team helped us make arrangements for an unexpected early birth--because they really do treat our pup (and us) like part of the CLA family. But that's not why I'm updating my review, my update is to say how well their techniques work. Our pup has behaved well from the very beginning after meeting the baby. She respects boundaries and cues and knows that she will only receive positive reinforcement so she never needs to feel tense or scared. Even if she is unsure about something she looks to us first. She is so relaxed and lovey to the baby. CLA is right--be a treat leader!

My short review for folks that are speed reading here: Yo, Julie, Laura, Curtis and everyone at Canine Learning Academy is awesome. They are science based trainers who stay up to date on the science and best practices of dog training. They are certified by KPA - one of the most prestigious dog training academies available. I learned so much from them and the relationship between me and my dog has improved so much with their guidance. They are also very responsive and passionate about what they do. I absolutely recommend 100000%. Long review for those that want to read on: Meeting Yo and the Canine Learning Academy crew has changed my life. I previously trained my dog using a "balanced" approach and used some aversives like a prong collar. Long story short, my dog developed some unintended behavioral issues and become more stressed out in multiple situations. After taking an Applied Animal Behavioral program with the University of Washington and learning about the science behind animal training and behavior, I decided I was only going to look for the best in the field to help me with my dog since I lacked the practical skills to apply my knowledge to actual training. I found Canine Learning Academy through the KPA website - one of the most prestigious dog training academies that was recommended by my professor, who is a certified applied animal behavior consultant) at the University of Washington. Since the first time I met Yo, I absolutely loved her. She was so passionate and so knowledgeable. The information she provided aligned with the curriculum I learned at the University of Washington, so I felt very comfortable in knowing that Yo was science based and very skilled. As someone who has worked with a variety of different types of trainers in the last 4 years, I can attest to the skill and efficiency that Yo and her team has. Super supportive, responsive, passionate, knowledgeable, innovative, and dedicated. Canine Learning Academy will take great care of you and your dog, regardless of what services you select and will work with you to choose the best plan of action for you and your dog. If you've made it this far in my review, the end is near. Bottom line - if you want the best for you and your dog and want your dog to ENJOY listening to you instead of just being forced to... call up Canine Learning Academy. You'll be glad you did.

Through very unique circumstances we acquired a six month old Golden Retriever that has been in Canine Learning Academy's board and train program as well as tHe daycare training. During our first week with her we recognized how amazing her precious training had been. The transition process was almost flawless and tHey went out oF their way to make sure we understood the training and did what was best for the puppy. Yo is the owner and truly has put her heart and soul into this program. I can't say enough great thinGs about the trainer JULIE who has a very special relationship with our puppy. I 100% Recommend this training for your dog. We have three children who are able to utilize the training techniques and give all this puppy the love she deserves!!!!! THank you Canine learning Academy!

My dog sitting while we check the mail was never possible before Canine Learning Academy!

On May 21, I received an email that their location had closed THE DAY BEFORE and that Long Beach and Lakewood would honor up to 5 class credits. Wtf. I went back to all my previous emails from Zoom Room HB and there was not a single announcement that they will be closing down. We immediately emailed the business requesting a refund for the unused credits and it has been over a week and we kept being told by Vince to be patient. My partner asked for a timeline, and in which Vince had requested another 5 days. I had filed a dispute for a portion of refund with my credit card company before they completely disappear. As someone in property management, the business owner would have at least known 60 days in advance (maybe even earlier depending on their lease contract) that they will not be renewing. They decided to wait until the day after closure to announce they are permanently closed to not deal with in person questions from their customers.

A couple of these weren't terribly serious, but we felt we weren't "in charge" anymore, that our dog wasn't getting the message from whatever we were doing, and that if we didn't do something different, it could really get out of control. Brad really helped us with this, where traditional "training" wasn't working. We have two or three things we're working on with our girl, but here is the most dramatic change we had with one issue. She is very food motivated, and would beg from us at the table whenever we sat down to eat, and would be underfoot in the kitchen during prep. She got overly excited and would not settle and lie down. Brad explained we weren't communicating well with her on a dog level, so to get that communication kicked in to gear, he actually started our session not with this problem, but with making sure she would not dash out the front door when it was opened. This was to establish that we were in charge and what was expected of her. What he showed us how to do worked like you wouldn't believe. It was like a light bulb went off for our girl. What we did affected everything after that. It wasn't about dashing out the door, it wasn't about begging for food, it was about knowing what was acceptable in our pack and to look to us for direction. That night, at dinner, she went to her "spot" with a simple direction and was relaxed during our entire meal. She can now be directed to her spot and will stay quietly any time we need her to. Best of all, she seems truly relieved that she doesn't have to be in charge and that WE are. She is much more relaxed around so many other things. It gave us so much more confidence! I didn't think that what Brad taught us would work. It's quite counterintuitive. But trust me, it worked like magic. This is not dog training - it's communication with your dog. Brad answers all your questions, doesn't waste your time, shows you clearly and directly what will work. We're so thankful we found him!

I met with several trainers before Brad & had little to no success in the areas we needed most, I was exhausted. Now for the first time ever, I can leave him home alone without the overwhelming anxiety and guilt that used to come with it. Our walks are actually enjoyable again, and I feel confident bringing him around friends and into new environments. What I appreciate most is that the training gave me the tools and confidence to understand and communicate with my dog better. I have my freedom back, and Cash is happier and more relaxed because of it. If you're struggling with separation anxiety, behavioral issues, or just want a better relationship with your dog, I can't recommend Brad enough. The impact has been life-changing.

Let me share a little background: We adopted our adult mini poodle (5-7 years old ) 10 months ago. He's crate trained but NOT potty trained. We tried potty-training several times by watching educational videos online and it was just confusing and contradicting. As a result, we gave up and he wears diaper since he is an indoor dog. He started snapping and actually bit my husband as he was removing the diaper. Bisko doesn't like it when we take off his diaper. On top of this, he barks like crazy when there's a visitor. He can go on and on for hours. The aggressive barking and snapping was addressed and corrected right after the first session! We are now currently doing potty training the right way. As the name of training entails, no force ( no shock collars, prong collars, etc. were used ) It's a lot easier now as there are definitive instructions provided on how to continue training. Addressing the negative reviews on Yelp: As I mentioned, I read every single review before deciding to contact Jeff: 1. For the initial contact, a phone call inquiry is really required as he has several questions about your dog. This cannot be done via text as there will be a lot of back and forth. 2. The other negative review is quite irrelevant. The training was successful for years and the incident happened 3 years after. There are a lot of factors that can happen in between those times. CONCLUSION: It's our first time trying training with a dog behaviorist and seen huge & significant improvement right away. This business is recommended! Hope we can continue further leash training later on.

When we got back home, I called him to continue training my dog, and he told me my dog was no longer a puppy, so he wouldn't honor all the money I'd paid him. I suggested putting the money towards regular dog training, and he would not honor it. It was over $1000

We feel very fortunate for all the amazing skills they have taught us and instilled in our dog Phil Collins. We contribute Phil's good manners both on and off leash to the training with Tact K9. We have been working with Tact K9 since our dog was 16 weeks old. We initially sought out training with Tact K9 for Therapy certification and through their program our dog was certified at a service working level since he took to their method of positive reinforcement so well. He became my psychological service dog aiding me through anxiety. They are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, gentle but also firm when it matters. They have a gift a forming an incredible bond with their clients and treat them with such care and respect as if they are one of their own dogs. This not a board and train because Tact K9 believes that it's about teaching both the human and the dog together which was very important to us since we wanted our dog to do therapy work. He also received his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate. Their park sessions are informative and fun and they also love bringing their community together with fun themed walks :) We also love that they are giving back to the community through their Blue Spec K9 Foundation where they are specifically training service dogs. We have volunteered with their nonprofit by aiding in socializing the dogs in the program. It was so rewarding and also fun! We are honored to be a part of the Tact K9 crew!

He started out barking and reacting to everything around him, but by the end of class he was calmer, more focused, and successfully participated in a pack walk. Russ, Martina, and Brandon were patient, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what they were doing and why. We left with a better understanding of our puppy and tools we can continue using at home. Training is a process, but we're excited to keep working with them and watch Donut grow. Looking forward to future sessions!

Watching Instagram and YouTube videos won't give you a well-behaved dog. Working with Vladae will!…read more We've been working with Vladae for about four months with our now six-and-a-half-month-old Golden Retriever, Coach, and it has been one of the best investments we've made. What sets Vladae apart is that he doesn't just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a lifelong relationship with them. Every lesson leaves us with practical tools, clear direction, and the confidence to continue the training every single day. Because of that, the progress doesn't stop when the session ends. Vladae has an incredible ability to understand dogs. Watching him read a dog's behavior, body language, and mindset is genuinely fascinating. He knows exactly how to communicate with each dog in a way they understand, and it's clear this comes from years of experience and a deep understanding of canine psychology. He's also one of the most invested professionals we've ever worked with. Throughout the week, he encourages us to send videos, provides thoughtful feedback almost immediately, and is always available to answer questions or jump on a call if we need guidance. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own. He truly cares about both the dogs and the people raising them, and he always follows through. Every recommendation Vladae has made, whether it's training tools, techniques, or daily routines, has become an essential part of Coach's development. We trusted the process from day one, and the results truly speak for themselves. (See the videos! Coach is only 6.5 months old in them.) Our puppy is happy, confident, well-mannered, and genuinely loves learning. We receive compliments on his behavior everywhere we go, and we owe so much of that to the foundation Vladae helped us build. We also had the opportunity to work with Erica, who trains alongside Vladae, and she was absolutely wonderful. One session with Erica is included in the program, and it was incredibly helpful. It's clear she shares the same passion, knowledge, and dedication that make this training program so special. Vladae brings unmatched energy, professionalism, and passion to every session. He genuinely wants every dog and every owner to succeed, and that level of commitment is incredibly rare to find. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and is committed to setting both you and your dog up for long-term success, I can't recommend Vladae highly enough. Coach has become an incredible puppy, and we're excited to continue into adult school because of the foundation he's helped us build. We're so grateful we found him!

I wanted to address your recent claims regarding my review of your services. I assure you that I…read morewas a legitimate customer who genuinely shared my honest experience, which I believe is critical for other potential clients. While it's understandable to feel upset when receiving negative feedback, it's important to reflect on the reasons behind my review. I noticed that during our initial interaction, you made a comment about my background that many found to be a stereotypical and racist remark. In fact, I saw that you previously posted video footage of our encounter on your Instagram, but you removed it after receiving backlash for those comments. This indicates that others found your remarks concerning as well. I want to emphasize that my intention was never to harm your business; rather, it was to share my experience. Thankfully, I have since found another trainer who practices positive reinforcement, which aligns much better with my values and my dog's needs.
