I'm going to let Coco review Bark City for me. As we turn the corner onto Edison, she starts jumping up and standing on her hind legs to get a better look at the entrance. Once I pull up the car in the parking spot, she immediately turns towards the car door waiting for me to come and put her leash on to go to the entrance, with her leading the way. She sits right next to the entrance gate while I check her in. Once in the anti-room, she greets the staff member and goes to the door that leads to the yard patiently waiting for her to open the door. She looks back like saying "see you later" and she's off. When we come to pick her up, she's always excited to see us, exhausted from a day of frolicking with other dogs. A happy dog for sure!! That's what matters. Thanks Bark City. PS. We also boarded her one time for 5 days. They took great care of her. read more

I worked at Bark City for an extended period of time and based on my firsthand experience, I cannot recommend this facility. During busy seasons, the facility often felt severely overcrowded. There were times when around 120 daycare and boarding dogs were being cared for by only 3-4 employees (clients are also not allowed to know how many dogs are currently there). Staff were expected to supervise playgroups, feed dogs, take them outside, clean kennels and yards, administer medications, monitor behavior, and respond to emergencies all at once. It often felt impossible to provide every dog with the level of attention and care they deserved. One of my biggest concerns was medication administration. Some dogs required medications on strict schedules or needed extra time and attention while taking them, but with the workload and staffing levels, it was extremely difficult to consistently give those dogs the individualized care they needed. I also found there to be very little transparency with pet owners. From what I observed, clients generally had no way to see where their dogs were actually staying, even though some boarding dogs remained at the facility for weeks or even months at a time. I believe owners should have more visibility into the environment where their pets are being housed. The daily report cards also declined significantly during my time there. They used to include detailed descriptions of how each dog's day went, but as the number of dogs increased and staffing became more limited, there often wasn't enough time to write meaningful updates. In my experience, many report cards became very minimal, leaving owners with little information about how their dog's stay was actually going. The work environment was also disappointing. In my experience, management frequently spoke to employees in a disrespectful and demeaning manner. Staff members' decisions were often questioned or undermined, and there were times when management yelled at employees. Regardless of someone's position, I don't believe anyone deserves to be spoken to that way. I also observed the yards not being deep cleaned as often as they should have been due to limited staffing and time. I frequently noticed urine, feces, and bacterial buildup around sections of the turf and fencing. I was also concerned by what I viewed as a lack of emergency preparedness if every dog needed to be kenneled at the same time. I personally witnessed situations where health concerns, including vomiting and bloody diarrhea, were documented internally but were not always consistently communicated to pet owners before pickup. In some cases, owners only learned about these issues after contacting the facility themselves. After my employment ended, I was informed by former coworkers that the facility began accepting more unspayed and unneutered dogs into daycare. Because I was no longer employed there, I cannot personally verify the current policy. However, I was told that some of these dogs were being housed separately rather than participating in normal daycare activities, and that pet owners were not always clearly informed of this arrangement. If true, I believe clients should be fully informed about where their dogs are staying and what activities they are or are not participating in so they can make informed decisions about their pet's care. This review reflects my personal experience working at Bark City. I sincerely hope the business improves its staffing, communication with clients, workplace culture, transparency, and overall standards of care because the dogs, employees, and pet owners all deserve better. read more

Bark City was amazing, until it wasn't. Had been taking my pup here for years. Loved the ability to make reservations with just a 24 hour heads up, which is great for work travelers. My dog was always happy to go, doing a happy cry as soon as he realized where we were pulling up. Loved how they used to be detailed in the daily report cards, including cute photos of the day plus bath time. BUT if your dog needs any regular meds or has special instructions, I no longer recommend bark city. My dog has allergies, where he can't have certain food and/or shampoos. I would come prepared with all his food, meds and instructions, and things started falling off. I would pick him up and there would be a ton of food left, but no updates or comments of whether he wasn't eating or just not being fed. He would come back flakier than when I left him, so I had to assume he was eating other dog's food or bark Citys own. The baths were also not always consistent, where the last time I went to pick him up, they didn't have time for a bath. On top of this, the poor guy walked out with his eyes crusted shut, even thought I left his eye meds, which they swore they gave him daily, but the build up in his eyes was days worth of build up, not hours. The report cards stopped having write ups, just photos, some of the time I would even get pics of the wrong dog. Even had an incident once where my sister went to pick him up, and they gave her the wrong dog. That last time with the eye situation was the last time I took him there, and would've gone back if they took accountability but there was none, so sadly we won't be back. Fine if your dog has zero meds or issues. Not a good idea if they have any special instructions. read more

Something is not right with the daycare experience here. There is no way to see how your dog is doing as there are no webcams or tours. There are no messaging updates about how your pup is doing until several hours after you have picked them up. Also, they accept drop-offs with no reservations, so exactly how many dogs are in the facility? My mini poodle went for a half day daycare prior to boarding to get her used to the place. When I picked her up she was in a full blown state of panic, with heavy panting that did not subside. We ended up at our vet to make sure there wasn't some injury. They were so uncomfortable with her relentless panting that they advised going to emergency. She go x-rays and blood work and showed as healthy. But the panting went on for several hours and finally she was diagnosed with a stress response to the daycare. No one ever called to say my dog is in distress and should be taken home. When I asked about her day I was told she was anxious and should come more often to get over it! The picture sent to me later that evening showed a stressed out dog that apparently went on all day. My dog has been to several daycares without an issue and I only tried Bark City because I thought it wold be nice for her to be outdoors instead of in a warehouse. I would not advise going here especially if you have a more sensitive pup. I am now stuck with $1200 in vet bills and a traumatized dog. read more

I was so impressed yesterday taking my blue Merle one and a half year-old Pomeranian to Barkcityhb HB. The staff was so kind and made me feel so comfortable. They took such good care of Willow . She got along with the doggies and came home tired and happy thanks again for being so kind to our little girl and accepting her. We will definitely be using you for many years to come. Not sure I'm comfortable with the fact that they will NOT let you come in and see where your dog plays or where they will sleep if you're boarding. They don't have webcams. They tell you to look on their website to see what it looks like, but that's not good enough for me. I want to actually see where my dog will be staying. Not a lot to ask. They could have a place where you could look the place over without going among the dogs. The place is very convenient for me but after taking our dog there several times, I don't have a good feeling. And I never got the promised "report card". Just a photo of my dog. Our puppy loves Bark City and so do we! They are so friendly and our pup always leaves there "dog tired." . They have overnight dog sitting, which we have used before and our pup doesn't come home stressed like at some other places. They now offer grooming so she will get a nice bath after a hard days work of playing with the other pups and bathing in the pool. Parking is a little tight for me with a big truck but can accommodate a few regular sized cars. They have gated areas where you pick up so your dog is safe during the transfer of care. read more

We've been bringing our dog to Bark City for over a year and it's so clear that he loves it! He's a big fan of being outdoors (such a California pup), so this is one of his favorite spots to spend the day. The staff is incredibly friendly and you can tell they really love the pups who spend their day there. They don't have cameras, but always send a report card with a photo toward the end of the day that shows we how much fun our dog has had! I love knowing he's in good hands with the team at Bark City. I just cannot stop telling everyone about how fabulous Bark City is! I tried out their grooming services recently after my guy got skunked and was more than pleased with the results. When the skunking happened my husband had washed him and probably 50% of the smell remained a week later. While I usually take care of my guys grooming needs I knew I needed professionals! Well let's just say he smells fabulous now after a couple washes with the skunk shampoo I provided and Bark City's shampoo/conditioner/cologne. He's smells delicious, super soft and easy to brush. They even sent me pictures of him on his birthday with a birthday hat! Thank you Bark City for being so great with all the services you provide! From the moment I took my dog to Bark City for his temperament test a few years ago after moving to the area both me and my dog fell in love. My dog gets boarder here when I am out of town and occasionally for dog sauce just for the day. He absolutely loves it. I love that most of the staff know him by sight when we arrive, the pictures are very day he is there showing what he gets up to. Recently they also expanded their hours to allow drop off and pickup on Sundays which has been a game changer.
