Lucy (former untrained shelter dog) sleeping calmly on a bed without destroying anything
    Mallory M.

If I could give OC Paws 10 stars I would. Trainer Stacey is amazing, she helped us transform a completely untrained one year old shelter dog. When we first got Lucy, she could barely walk on a leash and had so much separation anxiety that she was eating through our dry wall while we were away from the house. She quickly flunked out of Zoom Room and we were getting worried that we were in over our heads. Then we found Stacey, who came to our house and took the time to learn about what was happening, explained to us why it was happening, and worked with us to develop a plan we could implement immediately. After a few sessions, Lucy was on a much better path and our stress levels drastically decreased. She is clearly an absolute pro.

Our rescue dog has shown a lot of improvement following the Problem to Pawsitive program. He is continuing to build his confidence and has learned many new behaviors throughout this program. His reactivity, anxious behaviors, and fear have also decreased. Stacy is very knowledgable and passionate. We and our dog have enjoyed working with her, and she consistently provided helpful strategies and tips during and between lessons to help us continue his training plan!

5 stars isn't enough stars! We adopted a German shepherd mix puppy last fall and started working with a trainer suggested by the rescue. It was apparent that our new puppy was smart, but training wasn't getting us the results we were hoping for. Our puppy was destructive, aggressive during play, having loose stool, jumping all over everyone, pulling hard during walks, and generally felt out of control. Admittedly we weren't prepared for a big dog as we'd only ever had small dogs. I didn't want to waste anymore time because our dog's puppy days were flying by so I found OC Paws and Stacy. Within minutes of our consultation starting, I knew I had made the right choice. Stacy is clearly an expert in animal behavior. She immediately got to work and determined where we had been going wrong and figured out the why's behind some of our puppy's problematic behavior. During our consultation and four training sessions, Stacy helped us with setting boundaries regarding play with our dog that eliminated the aggressive play we had been struggling with. She helped us figure walks out -- she suggested a more appropriate harness and taught me the skills that helped keep the dog engaged with me rather than ignoring me. We both really enjoy the walks now. She helped us determine our dog has a sensitive tummy and had helpful tips for switching to a different protein source for the food, an alternative to bully sticks, and a more motivating (while still healthy and appropriate) treat. We also had no idea how to socialize our puppy, and Stacy helped us make a plan and carry it out. Our experience with OC Paws couldn't have been any better. Feel confident hiring them to help you with your furry best friend.

Stacey is great. We got a new puppy and wanted our whole family on the same training page. We ordered the four personal sessions. Worth every cent to create a positive and well-behaved relationship and environment with our family and our new pup. Stacey has offered awesome techniques, strategies, tools, and behavior modifications for us. Very thankful.

This review is definitely overdue. we really owe Stacey so much to the success of Coco being potty trained. Coco is a 3 1/2 year-old pure breed toy size Yorkshire. I love her to death, but since she's my first dog, I didn't really know how to potty train her Basically she was really just going inside the house and to the my husband stopped having Hope and said I probably need to get rid of her. I am so grateful that I found Stacy thanks to Yelp. The first time I called Stacey very patiently walk me through the registration process to at least have her come over to do it in consultation. I would say Stacy is such a professional she has a process that we sit down and talk about our goals and whether it is attainable during the six week course. we asked for full potty train, don't bark at the door and also obedient while walking outside: Stacey is super knowledgeable. She had explained to us how dog psychological behavior works and they are definitely behavior that will take longer time to change if that is really what we want such as not barking at the door. Stacie was very professional and also she is so caring she's always following up and after every session she sent a report which I super appreciate because I don't think I can remember all the details . She came up with a plan and advices to strictly because we have 4 teenagers in a house and everybody do different things with Coco. She is also super flexible. There are a couple times we had to move the schedule and she was very accommodating. Stacey quickly became Coco's favorite. We've discovered even some very interesting tricks together. Anyway, again, I can't say enough of good things about Stacey and I will definitely recommend anyone who is looking to train a difficult puppy or dog .:: since Coco was already 2 1/2 when we got Stacy to work with her. Coco is fully potty trained and I don't think I could do it without Stacy being here . Thank you so much, Stacy !!

Look how happy my puppy was after our training session

I'd worked with two trainers, including a 3 week board-and-train program ($5,000 investment), followed every instruction, and practiced daily, yet I didn't see changes. I was managing the behavior without ever understanding what was causing it. That changed within the first two hours with Brad. He didn't start with commands or tools. Instead, he focused on the psychology behind Sunny's reactions: what was driving them, what was reinforcing them, and what I was unknowingly communicating. No one had ever explained it that clearly. That was the turning point. For the first time, I wasn't guessing or correcting blindly. I could see what Sunny was experiencing in real time and understand how my timing, energy, and responses were shaping his behavior. That clarity changed everything. Walks feel completely different now. Sunny is no longer pulls since my training with Brad, the reactive outbursts are gone, and the experience itself is calm. I'm no longer bracing for problems because I know how to prevent them. I am SO appreciative!

Great experience! We have an 8-year-old rescue Golden…read moreRetriever who developed some habits we wanted to correct and weren't able to do on our own with traditional training. A couple of these weren't terribly serious, but we felt we weren't "in charge" anymore, that our dog wasn't getting the message from whatever we were doing, and that if we didn't do something different, it could really get out of control. Brad really helped us with this, where traditional "training" wasn't working. We have two or three things we're working on with our girl, but here is the most dramatic change we had with one issue. She is very food motivated, and would beg from us at the table whenever we sat down to eat, and would be underfoot in the kitchen during prep. She got overly excited and would not settle and lie down. Brad explained we weren't communicating well with her on a dog level, so to get that communication kicked in to gear, he actually started our session not with this problem, but with making sure she would not dash out the front door when it was opened. This was to establish that we were in charge and what was expected of her. What he showed us how to do worked like you wouldn't believe. It was like a light bulb went off for our girl. What we did affected everything after that. It wasn't about dashing out the door, it wasn't about begging for food, it was about knowing what was acceptable in our pack and to look to us for direction. That night, at dinner, she went to her "spot" with a simple direction and was relaxed during our entire meal. She can now be directed to her spot and will stay quietly any time we need her to. Best of all, she seems truly relieved that she doesn't have to be in charge and that WE are. She is much more relaxed around so many other things. It gave us so much more confidence! I didn't think that what Brad taught us would work. It's quite counterintuitive. But trust me, it worked like magic. This is not dog training - it's communication with your dog. Brad answers all your questions, doesn't waste your time, shows you clearly and directly what will work. We're so thankful we found him!

We definitely recommend Andi!…read more We originally reached out to Andi for consultations regarding both of our Maltipoos, Kiki and Coco. During our initial phone consultation, Andi was incredibly honest and genuine. After learning more about our dogs, she felt that Kiki was the one who would benefit most from formal training and suggested that we could apply what we learned with Kiki to Coco as well. We really appreciated that she didn't try to upsell us on training for both dogs when she easily could have. That immediately showed us how much she genuinely cares about helping dogs and their families. At the time, Kiki was about six months old and was extremely reactive to just about everything in the outside world. We were looking for someone whose methods aligned with our values, and we loved Andi's positive reinforcement approach. Kiki completed Andi's six-week program, and the growth we've seen has been incredible. What sets Andi apart is that she isn't focused solely on teaching dogs tricks or obedience commands. She truly cares about each dog's emotional well-being and how they're feeling throughout the process. We learned so much--not just about Kiki, but about ourselves as dog owners. Andi helped us understand how our own behaviors and responses can shape our dogs, which was eye-opening and incredibly valuable. Of course, the work doesn't stop when the training sessions end. It takes consistency and ongoing practice at home, but Andi gave us the tools and confidence to continue building on Kiki's progress. The effort has been absolutely worth it. One of the best parts is that we were able to use many of the same training methods with our older Maltipoo, Coco, and she learned and benefited from them as well. Andi actively encouraged this, which we really appreciated. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and ethical trainer who truly puts dogs' well-being first, we wholeheartedly recommend Andi and Diamond Dog Training.

Working with Vladae will!…read more We've been working with Vladae for about four months with our now six-and-a-half-month-old Golden Retriever, Coach, and it has been one of the best investments we've made. What sets Vladae apart is that he doesn't just train dogs, he teaches owners how to build a lifelong relationship with them. Every lesson leaves us with practical tools, clear direction, and the confidence to continue the training every single day. Because of that, the progress doesn't stop when the session ends. Vladae has an incredible ability to understand dogs. Watching him read a dog's behavior, body language, and mindset is genuinely fascinating. He knows exactly how to communicate with each dog in a way they understand, and it's clear this comes from years of experience and a deep understanding of canine psychology. He's also one of the most invested professionals we've ever worked with. Throughout the week, he encourages us to send videos, provides thoughtful feedback almost immediately, and is always available to answer questions or jump on a call if we need guidance. You never feel like you're figuring things out on your own. He truly cares about both the dogs and the people raising them, and he always follows through. Every recommendation Vladae has made, whether it's training tools, techniques, or daily routines, has become an essential part of Coach's development. We trusted the process from day one, and the results truly speak for themselves. (See the videos! Coach is only 6.5 months old in them.) Our puppy is happy, confident, well-mannered, and genuinely loves learning. We receive compliments on his behavior everywhere we go, and we owe so much of that to the foundation Vladae helped us build. We also had the opportunity to work with Erica, who trains alongside Vladae, and she was absolutely wonderful. One session with Erica is included in the program, and it was incredibly helpful. It's clear she shares the same passion, knowledge, and dedication that make this training program so special. Vladae brings unmatched energy, professionalism, and passion to every session. He genuinely wants every dog and every owner to succeed, and that level of commitment is incredibly rare to find. If you're looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and is committed to setting both you and your dog up for long-term success, I can't recommend Vladae highly enough. Coach has become an incredible puppy, and we're excited to continue into adult school because of the foundation he's helped us build. We're so grateful we found him!
