    My sweet baby Ridgeback!
    Joseph M.

I brought my 12-week old Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy to see Meredith about food bowl and resource guarding. We were pretty worried before bringing her in, but we stuck to the training she recommended by adding treats to her bowl, having her eat special things like pumpkin out of the bowl while we held it, and also increasing her food portions. I'm telling you, starting the very next morning it was like she was a different puppy. We've been continuing to work with her, but now more than four weeks later, I think we've left this resource guarding thing in the past. I'm able to get her to leave even the most delicious possessions with a firm "leave it," and I always have something better in my pocket just in case that's not enough. I even had a friend comment the other day when I told her to "leave it" and she sat right down and looked me in the eye. They were very impressed. I can't tell you how much I appreciate Canine Phd for their help with my new pup. I'm so glad that, 10 years after we first met with my previous dog in puppy class, Meredith and Canine Phd are still doing this work.

Hands down best dog trainers in the metro area. Instead of just training the owner they also help you understand why your dog behaves the way they do. They help you learn that a certain action from you will most likely result in a particular behavior from your dog. And they train using positive reinforcement not training collars or other devices. If they can train the very stubborn dog in the picture, they can train any dog!

What's the old saying, "better late than never?"…read more In 2005 I brought my 1-year old aggressive, non-social, Rottie/GS pup, Ruby, to Kate Jackson and Jabula to get her on the right track. I adopted Ruby from a local rescue when she was 6-months old and it was evident that the first few months before I met her were extremely traumatic. Our "meet and greet" went horribly, as she wouldn't let me close, it took me 15 minutes to get her in the car, and she bit me in return. However, there was something about her and I knew we belonged together. I had a contract job in Hawaii early in 2005 that was going to require me to be there for the better part of a month, and I thought that this would be the perfect time for Ruby to get some formal training since I was going to have make accommodations for her car while I was away. Upon finding out about Jabula's 2-week "all-inclusive" program (or whatever it was called back then), I was ecstatic that not only would she have a place to stay for two weeks with company and activity, but she would get the formal training she needed and deserved. It was going to be hard to leave her behind, but after meeting Kate I felt comfortable leaving Ruby under her care. While in Hawaii, Kate sent me emails and responded to my questions about Ruby's progress. I was excited to hear that she was adapting well and learning how to behave. I couldn't wait to come and see her. Once I got home and was able to pick her up, Kate went over all of the training they did (place, heel, come, etc) in an hour long session with us and the results were remarkable! She was still definitely an Alpha, but she wouldn't instigate any altercation, played well with other dogs, obeyed all commands, and was much, much better around strangers that previously she wouldn't dare go around. Ruby passed in 2015 but she was the best trained pup I've ever had, and Jabula was instrumental in making that happen.

She stayed again over the Christmas holiday while we were out of the country and the canine flu made headlines in Georgia. We love Jabula and their entire team of hard working dog lovers. Thank you!!!

We can now take Moose off leash comfortably knowing she will come when called, sit and stay even in busy environments. I feel like we are happier humans and she is a happier dog thanks to Sam's help. The training style used was also based on rewarding Moose with play rather than food or negative reinforcement, which I really appreciate and didn't know much about before. We couldn't be more pleased with the results. Highly recommend Dog Wizard and Sam!

Probably my highest review ever for a service I haven't used yet. hear me out…read more I just rescued a Rat Terrier puppy called Raffi from Texas, who showed signs of abuse and trauma upon arrival. I've parented/known many rescues in the past and never seen anything like the fear she exhibited. fully freaked out, I shot a message to Atlanta Dog Wizard with an SOS to help. Kat quickly got in touch and we had about a 30-min call, which provided me with INVALUABLE insight into my urgent situation. That information she gave me--keep in mind, I had paid no money for her advice or training to this point--gave me some practices I could use, right away, to make Raffi feel more comfortable. I still might officially use Atlanta Dog Wizard in the future, if Kat is any indication how the company does things. She has a passion for rescues and turning around challenging situations and making dogs (and humans) shine. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Unfortunately, I didnt look for a new place after my first negative experience so I'm going to leave a list of what I've seen. 1) in the most recent visit, they did not give my dog his blanket or comfort items the first night he was there. I dropped him off in the early morning, so they had plenty of time to set up. This resulted in me helplessly watching on the cameras as he paced back and forth the entire night. Second night he had his comfort items and slept wonderfully, because that's WHAT THEY'RE FOR. 2) When I picked him up this morning I could hear staff screaming at the dogs from the parking lot. Not the stern voice you have to use sometimes with dogs.... no... they were screaming 3) my dog has pretty upsetting injuries. In the past I have brought him in with his harness and they always print out a laminated collar for him to use during his time there. They didnt do this time and they left the harness on him for DAYS. when I picked him up he has severe chafing and was bleeding from several spots. They said nothing to me. This isnt even the first time he's been injured here. He had a cut so bad on his ear once that it got an infection... again at that point they said nothing. Today, in combination with previous visits this year, have brought me to the internet to urge you (whoever you are) to find somewhere else to take your dog.

We enrolled Skippy in the 19-day residency program with hopes that we could better integrate Skippy into our active family, which includes young kids. Blake and the team were very professional and responsive throughout the entire process. I was initially hesitant with the training techniques, but I came to understand and embrace them after multiple discussions with Blake. During the 19-day residency program, we could see the strides that Skippy was making. After pickup and our own "training," we worked hard over the following weeks to make sure Skippy's training stuck and that the strides we saw online came through at home. Today, Skippy is able to take part in all aspects of family life, in and out of the home. He is well behaved, able to remain calm when needed (while still being his energetic fun self when it is time for that), and consistently follows all of his on and off leash commands. He sits, goes to down, comes when called, drops items on command that he would chew previously, walks perfectly on leash, doesn't jump on our kids or others, and has very good manners and a calmness that we rarely saw before. Our relationship with Skippy, which was very good before, has hit a new level. He is an even more-beloved member of the family now, and we owe a lot of that to the Prodigal Pooch team. I would add that we definitely put in the work to develop and reinforce the training at home, so I would really recommend this program for those that are serious about following through. If we get another dog one day, we will definitely be working with the Prodigal Pooch.

I knew Duck would be in good hands even beyond training as he's in home, there are only 4 dogs in residency at a time, etc. I also like to think that Blake obliged my friend & I when he allowed our pups to complete their residency together. After 19 days with Blake, Duck is calm, attentive, walks freely on his leash, knows all his commands (voice and hand), and bless Blake & Kelly for doing the Lord's work in helping Duck get through crate anxiety. Thanks to Blake, Duck is more than just cute, and I can't help but smile when people comment about how well he minds.
