If you're looking for Jay he is here! He was the reason for my most reason visit but I am so glad we choose this location for our "Sipxmas". Jay never disappoints so the drinks were great, the service above great and the ambience was just enough to enjoy the intimacy of our group. The chef did her thang in the kitchen and I loved my bougie grill cheese sandwich I definitely recommend adding chicken. We were there during happy hour so prices were affordable as well. My friend and I ended up here after having a rather disappointing/interesting experience at another hotel's apparent (currently) non-existent happy hour. We settled into the lounge area with ease; it was early in the evening and a weekday, so we weren't really fighting crowds, but we JUST missed Cannon Ball's happy hour, which I will come back for. The service was excellent, we were explained the drink and cocktail menu and I got the Ziggy Stardust. It was a most excellent gin based pear cocktail that had just the right amount of zip, and pretty to look at! For food, I ended up getting it Mac and cheese bites and the meatloaf sandwich. Both items are not something I would have reached for, but due to the recommendations and apparently popularity of these dishes, I trusted the staff. Both dishes were delicious. The Mac and cheese had a pimento mix quality, making it more interesting that the normal fried Mac and cheese bites. I was also pleasantly surprised by how good my sandwich was. Solid, upscale comfort food. My friend ordered the deconstructed pot pie. When the menu stayed a half chicken is part of the dish, expect a half chicken! At the top of the Hotel Indy...The drinks are good. The views are beautiful! The service is terrible. The only saving grace was the food...phenomenal and brought up from the restaurant on the 1st floor. Don't get me wrong, the employees were all very friendly BUT no one ever checked on us....and we went there 2 evenings in a row because we were staying at the hotel. Both nights we had to check ourselves out by walking up to the bar and waiting for the bartender to pay attention to us. Both nights we had to walk up to the bar to get refills. Where to start... The doorman was quite nice and helpful with directions. As soon as you walk into the Cannonball Lounge you can feel a change and the elevation in energy. I don't know if it's because of the elevation or if they are doing a wonderful job, but it feels great to be inside. The bartenders are top notch. I could watch them create and mix all night long... I tried a Negroni for the first time. Wow was that amazing! Definitely don't come here looking for a watered down drink because you are looking in the wrong place. We could not decide on a mocktail, so our server asked us a few questions about our preferences and landed on the most amazing, custom mocktail featuring coffee and almond cream with a hint of ginger. Such a wonderful experience. It is my go-to after-work happy hour drinks spot with friends or coworkers. **Only note: they often have private events and will close the bar to guests. We had a lovely experience here the other night. You'll find Cannonball Lounge on the top floor of the recently opened Hotel Indy. This is one of the floors that was added on to the building for the hotel renovations. It oozes cool vibes with a disco ball, stunning stone floors and a fun mix of upholstery. We arrived around 6 and quickly found a spot on their beautiful rooftop patio. We had a bourbon sorghum Manhattan, Major Taylor inspired cocktail (with pear spice and champagne), and coffee cocktail. We were very impressed by the number of cocktails on the menu that featured local inspiration and historical tie-ins ranging from the racing industry to pawpaw spirits. As for the patio- goodness, it is gorgeous! You'll find several lush couches/ lounge chairs along with a few tables. The space overlooks the Cultural Trail and Lugar Plaza on Washington street. I was definitely picking up some outdoor design inspiration while there (the same goes for the bathroom). The cocktail prices are on Indy's higher end but great for a special occasion. Parking is fairly easy to find on the surrounding streets on a weeknight. read more

My friends drink was loaded with alcohol while mine was loaded with mixer. I was surprised to see staff walk around but never stopped by our table. In summary, I'm giving this night a pass. I've been in the lounge 3 times including a Yelp event, after the first time I was hooked and it has become my go to place for lounging. I love the vibe the lounge gives, it reminds me of modern Great Gatsby We have brought 2 different sets of group here and they fall in love with this place too. I had a 'no alcohol' challenge during the month of April and they had a good amount of zero alcohol options on their menu. The other day when I went I was able to order a zero alcohol, mocktail, off the menu too, which was great! Now that it is May, I am coming back again for so that I can try their alcohol this time The server/bartenders are amazing and friendly. First of all, the Cannon Ball Lounge makes you forget you're in downtown Indianapolis. I continued my birthday celebrates at this location, and my friends and I had an absolute blast. There are few food options, since if you're looking for a food spot I'd recommend grabbing dinner on the first floor of the hotel, since the Lounge the visitor must take an elevator to get to the top floor. The environment was upbeat and fun, as we visited when it was trivia night! There was an outdoor fireplace with plenty of seating. The staff was super friendly and welcoming! Although the prices were a little hefty, I'd visit again because of the awesome scenery, great vibes, and plenty of photo opportunities. When you enter the building you pass through The Hulman restaurant to get to the elevators. A hotel staff person even walked us to the elevator and made sure we got on the correct one. The bar are isn't huge but they have done a great job of have multiple seating options from bar stools to comfy chairs. The view is pretty cool because you see the city from a vantage point that is relatively new. Then there are the drinks! My husband and I visited the Cannon Ball lounge on February 25th for the Sip and Soar brunch event they were hosting. We attended a play the night before in downtown Indy, and elected to have a mini staycation at the Hotel Indy, https://www.hotelindy.com/where the cannonball lounge is located on the roof top. We were excited about trying out a new restaurant and the Sip and Soar sounded like something fun and different to do. Upon arrival at the brunch event, the first impression was that the attendance was a lot less than expected which was a surprise considering it was advertised as being sold out. There was no food out yet except some small pastries on a couple of plates and coffee that was sub par and there was no sugar or a different creamers available, like you might expect at a brunch. There was a station set up at the end of the bar for mimosas, however, we're not big drinkers but did try one. After about a half an hour, the food started to come out but to our dismay it was bite-size portions that are shown in the pictures I displayed I think when I purchased the tickets for the brunch I expected there to be multiple choices for food, but we did not see the menu until we arrived at the event, they were literally four items on the menu only three are pictured in this post because the fourth item which was tuna tartare neither of us eat, and my husband does not eat pork so he only had two sample size breakfast items! We were very disappointed because the event did not turn out as we expected and for $50 per person we definitely expected more! The atmosphere, the ambience, and the view of the city were nice but because it was in February, we couldn't enjoy eating outside. The other frustrating part is they brought out each item in a very untimely fashion so maybe 15 to 20 minutes in between each item and one by one, so needless to say, we were starving by the time we left. My suggestion would be if hosting future brunch events like these here to enhance the overall presentation, and to be well stocked on items, have more variety andand definitely increase the portion sizes! read more

A very fun rooftop bar! They have a dj that came in this past Saturday evening to play some good tunes. Drinks are tasty, but on the pricier side. The rooftop can get chilly if it is cloudy and windy, but they have a lot of seating options inside and out. Outside they have a firepit, but it only works if it isn't too windy to blow it out. Only a few restrooms upstairs, but the lobby of the hotel has a few nice ones downstairs if there is a line. read more

I could just imagine the fun summer nights people would have up on the rooftop this summer. My reason for the 1 star deduction is the cocktail I wanted to try the balloon release wasn't available. I opted for bartenders favorite. This was my friends second time coming and both times the balloon release has not been available. If you pop in, I advise it's on a weekend. The roof top bar is a fun vibe and the cocktails were good. The Millionaire was VERY sweet - a bit too sweet for us, but the STP was refreshing and the allspice in it added a great flavor to the pineapple. I would definitely order that again. We went on a Saturday night and it was PACKED! I deducted a star because the bar was hard to get to. We were at the bar for over 10 minutes trying to get a bartenders attention and it is very easy to get looked over or ignored. We were passed up a few times which was frustrating - but they were also busy and I know it can be hard to remember who came up to the bar first. Just a heads up, if you go on a weekend be prepared to be a little more pushy at the bar to get a drink. The night we were there they had a DJ who we absolutely loved (Action Jackson) and someone got engaged. It was a fun time! When you go in to the lobby of the hotel, there is a specific elevator just for the 6th floor bar. We had no issue getting up to the bar around 7:50pm but when we left around 10pm there was a line waiting to get up. I hear it's a lot more chill on a weeknight and that is probably more my style so I hope to check it out again! read more

Went to The Cannon Ball Lounge on a gorgeous summer night! This is my first rooftop bar in Indy! I loved my experience! The drinks were delicious and we got a meat and cheese plate that was actually really good! The space is smaller than I expected but we went around 7:30pm on a Thursday and got great seats. You go up to the bar to order which was fine since there were not many people there but I can see how that could get busy on a Friday or Saturday night. There are parking garages and street parking around the hotel where the bar is. I parked in the parking garage across the street and it was $10. Loved this place and can't wait to go back! read more

I absolutely love taking new people here! Really awesome atmosphere, it's in the Indy Hotel too which is so beautiful. Fridays and Saturdays can be really busy but for the most part the bartenders are pretty good about getting to everyone at a reasonable time. The views you can't beat though, they have a beautiful view of the city and rooftop outdoor seating which is hard to find! Their drinks are amazing as well as reasonably priced! What a great addition to downtown. The 6th floor via private elevator opens to a breathtaking view of downtown to the east and surrounding directions. Super friendly staff and awesome seating outdoors or in with commanding views either way. If interest for teetotalers is their zero proof spirits which can be made into any cocktail. The Cannon Ball Lounge is the buzz of Indy and I had to find out why. Walking through The Hulman, you'll find a golden elevator that will take you directly to the 6th floor. Earlier in the evening on a Saturday we popped straight up, but when we left (10ish) there was a LONG wait to get in- so plan accordingly. The DJ was great and like any place downtown on a Saturday night, it was pretty loud and crowded. We lucked out to get a seat on the roof top area to enjoy our drinks with a great view of the city. There are heaters for chilly evenings too! I had heard rumors about the mocktails and as someone who rarely drinks, I was pumped. The Tail of Thyme was a labor of love- mixing the drink, funneling it into THE cutest bird glass, and topping with thyme and a straw. If I'm paying for a mocktail, I want to to taste more than sprite with cherry juice and The Cannon Ball delivers on that front. They've invested in some non alcoholic spirits which definitely up the game. TLDR: if you like crowds and want to party, come on a weekend and be ready for a bit of a wait. I'm guessing weekday evenings would be the perfect quieter vibe (raise your hand if you're still adjusting to post pandemic life). The mocktails are bomb. read more

This place could be so amazing with its outdoor patio, but, alas, it's very (very) poorly run. Here are the biggest problems: 1. No wait staff, so you have to go to the bar and wait in a group of other customers for the world's slowest bartenders to acknowledge you. 2. The VERY expensive cocktails are served in teensy tiny fragile stemmed glasses. I'll post a picture of my $16 drink in the miniature glass. We literally laughed out loud at the absurdity. 3. The bartender had to look at a manual/notebook to figure out how to make the specialty cocktail (the 1977 cocktail on the menu). 4. There were dirty dishes, glasses and napkins strewn about the outdoor patio. I guess customers have to bus their own dishes, too? As we were leaving, my colleague accidentally stepped on a glass that had been left on the ground. If this place were managed well, and if it offered normal-sized drinks, it could be a fun & classy place to go. read more

I missed this yelp Elite event but after all the hype I had to check it out for myself! Really nice addition to downtown Indianapolis! Beautiful upscale rooftop bar complete with outdoor fireplace, swanky drinks, beautiful bartenders and a bumpin DJ. We sampled several of the Indianapolis 500 themed drinks and all were delicious. They offer a limited menu but everything was remarkably good! We spent several hours talking and drinking and watching the beautiful people. I think I'll even stay in this hotel next time I go downtown for a staycation! read more
