The Exchange is perfect for a date. I love the ambience and their seating here. We came on a Thursday, and the bartender greeted us right at our table. She gave us recommendations on what to try. I tried the Parlor Rose this time and it was strong. Once ice melted, it tasted better, about a 3/5. Note, I believe they only have one restroom on the main floor. Will come back!
Speakeasy vibes, modern cocktails. Perfect for date night or drinks with the girls. They have a happy hour until 7pm every week day. Totally worth asking for their half price drinks. Their espresso martini is one of the best Ive had.
Stopped in for a little late date night cocktail. I love the seasonal creations. There's something for everyone and if you don't care for the cocktail list, the bartenders are great and can create something to your taste.

We found a cute little table with two chairs that worked for us to sit, but had we had a larger party we likely would have been standing. We each ordered a cocktail which we didn't care for personally & also each had a glass of prosecco. It was definitely a place with cool ambiance to meet with you friends or for a date night stop.

This may be the place. The Exchange is a gorgeous whiskey-forward bar in the heart of Mass Ave. With a cozy and beautiful garden-level space. There is an Elevator (so it is accessible to all) and a ramp from outside. You can also rent out the space during the week. The rough stone exterior walls are adorned by a curved glass window letting in light on one side from the busy streets of Mass Ave. The floors are piled high with deep red and vibrant oriental rugs, ascending that classic speakeasy vibe. There are plenty of different seating options like leather sofas, cushiony chairs, and bar stools; however, the spot to nab would be the two private tables tucked away under the curved glass window. The end of the space has a large mirror and is perfect for selfies. They have a cocktail menu featuring a variety of spirits, whiskey, gin, vodka, etc., and a few good local bourbons like Cardinal Street Distillery, 18th Street Rye, Hard Truth Hills, etc. I'm so impressed by the Bar staff, they were busy but still making perfect cocktails with a smile, I'm astonished at their skill and composure. We'll be back for a date night to check it out more thoroughly on a less busy night.

Where do I begin? This might just be my new favorite place to grab drinks! What drew me in was their wide selection of whiskey flights. My boyfriend was coming to town and he's a huge whiskey guy so I knew I had to bring him to check this spot out. We stopped by for the first time ~4:30pm last Saturday and were extremely happy/impressed with our experience. This bar is 2 floors. We went down to the basement and loved the dim, intimate lighting. It made for a great conversational space. The cocktail menu has a lovely, unique selection and there are whiskey options galore for all you whiskey lovers out there. Our bartender, Chris, was the man!!! He was very knowledgeable on all the different types of whiskeys they offered and gave us perfect drink recommendations based on our palettes. I had the Epic Luau and the All Hell Broke Juice. My boyfriend chose the whiskey flight (bartender's choice) and the Executive Old Fashioned. Our drinks were perfect! My boyfriend really enjoyed the experience of a whiskey flight and the bartender's choice is a fun option as you never know what you're going to get and you get to try something new! Chris made sure to ask my boyfriend a couple questions before crafting his flight (he requested 1 japanese whiskey, 1 rye whiskey, and 1 wild card aka any type of whiskey that Chris absolutely loves). It was a real treat having a one-of-a-kind, personalized experience and having a friendly, skilled bartender makes it 10000x better. Overall, I'm so glad we stopped by because it really kicked off our weekend on a high note. We'll definitely be returning in the future! Props to The Exchange for giving the people a good time
The Exchange is a must visit when in Indy. Was visiting town and was looking for a cool place to grab a drink with a few friends where we all sit together, and hear each other over some cocktails. We found the spot! Drinks were all excellent. The vibes were on point with a speakeasy type scene. Exposed brick and leather couches pair well with the menu. The mixologists nailed even custom orders from us. Highly recommend for the mass ave area.
Absolutely-freakin'-lutely lovely bar with the BEST service. The drinks are great (with unique flavors), the service was amazing, bathroom was clean, and the seats are comfortable with great ambiance. Would definitely come back (especially if you're looking for a less-romantic vibe than many of the other Mass Ave cocktail bar options). PROS: -Everything about our server, Jace. Despite doing all of the people-ing for the entire cocktail bar, he spent quite a bit of time chatting with us, making us feel valued, and providing really fantastic cocktail recommendations and a history of the place. This is probably some of the best and most personalized service I've had a cocktail bar this year. -Our cocktails were delicious too, so kudos to the second employee who was crafting all the drinks so Jace could manage tables. We never waited long for a drink. -I'm not a huge whiskey person, but I *do* love good cocktails. Our server said they could add a bit extra sweetness to various cocktails when I was unsure about the original flavor, and pretty much everything that was brought to our table was delicious in the best of ways. A bartender being able to modify things to best work for their patrons is A+! -They bring a full whiskey bottle of water to your table to "pour your own" as needed. The whiskey bottle is a great touch, and it makes it easy to keep yourself hydrated and safe while enjoying their cocktails without bothering a server. CONS: -Even at open on a Thursday, they were surprisingly busy (compared to the cocktail bars around Mass Ave.) Expect to encounter more people here, it seems, than nearby options. Partnered with natural light streaming through the windows, it made the vibe here feel "friendly" instead of "sultry" which is the ambiaence it seems a lot of nearby options are going for. -I only found a single unisex bathroom for the entire establishment. Not a huge deal when it's less busy, but I always worry when there's a single bathroom for a location designed for drinking. (Bathroom was clean though!)
Monday Mornings are best on Saturday evenings... They had me at cold brew and I was not disappointed. The overall ambience of The Exchange Whiskey Bar is relaxed elegance. I'm obsessed with the eclectic vibes, mixed with rich tones, and textures... whatever the occasion this is the place to celebrate! Our waitress this evening was Asia, she has such a great personality and really added to the experience! This was my friends first time here and she commented that she really enjoyed the overall vibes and how friendly everyone was... love hearing this when I introduce friends to new to them venues.
A quick note about the bar's historical aspect. It is located in the Hammond Block building, which was built in 1874. It is one of the oldest original buildings still standing in the Indy. This is a decent low key/chill bar located on the CBD end of Mass Ave, across from the Eagle. There is a lot of metered parking available within a reasonable walking distance from this joint. There are also a few commercial parking lots nearby, if that is your thing. The bar is two levels with full bars and lounge seating available. As I mentioned, it is a very chill spot with a lot of personality. It is a casual place that has a high end vibe. They have a decent signature cocktail menu with some seasonal cocktails on. They claim to also have the 450 of the best whiskeys you can find. I was not that thirsty, so I will take their word on it. It is a cozy space with a very friendly staff. The drinks are not just savory, but they make them a presentation, especially their Old Fashioned. There is also light food options available including deviled eggs and bacon with onion jam. This is a neat little duck-off located just outside on Indy's CBD. My group really enjoyed hanging out here. They have some savory cocktails and great staff. I recommend checking this joint out.
A hidden gem on Mass Ave! We came in here by chance around Christmas time and have been back several times since. It's a fantastic place to grab a drink! The atmosphere is dark and cozy with different seating options. The service is great and the drinks are spectacular! I love the Executive and the Aviation cocktails!
The Exchange in Indianapolis is one of my all time favorite venues. I recently attended the Circle City Social hosted by our service partner, Levy, and it was an unforgettable experience. The drinks were simply outstanding especially the Mezcal Old-Fashioned, which had an incredible smoky twist that absolutely fell in love with. Each sip was a delight. The venue itself is gorgeous, with exposed brick and warm wood accents that create a cozy yet stylish atmosphere. From the main floor to the second level, it's the perfect spot to relax, enjoy drinks, and socialize all while taking in great views of the city. read more

This is the 2nd location for this hip bar (the original is in South Bend). N. They have a pretty decent weekday happy hour and there is comfortable seating everywhere. A great place for a relaxed drink in a civilized setting. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. I love coming here with friends for a quick drink to start or end the night. My favorite is Petal to the Metal! It's a lavender gin drink & I dream about having this drink all the time! It's delicious! Staff is always amazing as well. It is very moody and has "speak easy" vibes. read more

I enjoyed the laidback atmosphere of this bar and would definitely go back again when back in town. Reservations: I'm not sure if they take reservations or not. I don't think so as it was a seat yourself type of spot. Parking: My friend and I walked, but we saw street parking and I believe there is a paid parking lot nearby. Food: They do offer a few items on the menu in terms of food, such as a charcuterie board, but as we just came from dinner we didn't order any. Drinks: The drinks were delicious! I ordered the All Hell's Broke Juice and a custom-made drink (generated by the bartender). My friend ordered the Sweater Weather I believe and the Shining Emerald (or something like that). We both really enjoyed our drinks. Vibe: There is an upstairs and downstairs section. We stayed upstairs and I really liked the vibe. We went around 6:00PM and it was really chill. Our bartender / waiter, Chris, was phenomenal. He took the time to go through the menu with us and ask us about our drink preferences, making recommendations along the way. He even offered to make me a custom drink if I trusted his judgment, which I did! Like I said, I would definitely visit again. I had a great time! read more

This is now my go-to cocktail spot in downtown Indy. Its a really cool room with lots of comfy chairs and chesterfield sofas. Their special cocktails rotate with the seasons - and they can hook you up with the classics. Prices are not insane either -especially given the elevated ambiance. This place would be right at home in the lobby of an expensive hotel. Nice people, great drinks and cool room. I'll be back ! read more

Loved the vibe here! It gives speakeasy with a lot of cool options to choose from (drinks). There's two levels and it's very cozy. It's a great place to start your night or end it. The whiskey selection was wonderful and the cocktail menu was imaginative, but what really sold me was staff. Everyone from the hostess to the runners/bussers was friendly and warm. The bartender, Titan, was welcoming and knowledgeable. We chatted at length about the whiskey varieties available at the bar and their favorites: straight, on the rocks, or in cocktails. I was only able to stay for one drink because my phone was dying and I needed to call a car, but like Fat Dan's I was wondering if and when I could get back before I left the city. If I were a local I'd be a regular here for sure. read more

I am in love with this place. First off, it's perfectly decorated for Christmas. Lights everywhere, inflatables, a Christmas tree, and even a holiday themed cocktail menu. I arrived right as it was opening so it was not crowded and the service was fantastic. My drink was perfect and strong. While you may pay $11-16 per drink, you will not need more than 2 if you are planning on driving! I saw many people ordering smoke infused beverages and it made the room smell amazing. I think it's the perfect place to start or end an evening. read more
What a welcomed addition to Mass Ave! Felt a little like I was at Aviary in Chicago. Fantastic craft cocktails, great service and overall vibe seeing what they did with this space. Go check it out...pro tip would be to go on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid long wait times during peak nights. The only negative was the tables and chairs were not paired appropriately...with the table so tall that we felt like we needed booster seats to reach our drinks on the table. read more
I love a good Whiskey Bar! This place is a new addition to Mass Ave. It has everything you would want in a Whiskey Bar. It has very high end whiskey, craft cocktails and a cool, chill vibe. I almost hesitate to write a review because I don't want more people to go! HA! The servers and bartenders are very good at their craft and if you aren't quite sure what you want, they are always very happy to make recommendations. I have been a few times and I've gotten so comfortable I tell them just make me something and trust that they will come back with something amazing. The music is good, nice chill out music. The seating is good, however, if you try to go on Thursday - Saturday it gets packed, so if you decide to go on those days I recommend going early. 7pm on, you may not find a seat. Totally a place to visit ESPECIALLY if you are into Whiskey although they do have other drinks too if you aren't a fan of Whiskey so don't let that stop you from visiting! read more

Found this place on a whim during a day date and it did not disappoint! It's definitely more geared toward whisky drinkers; so if this is you.......you should definitely stop in. Mi Amor had a bourbon based drink which had some hints if vanilla and cherry in it!!! It was AMAZING!!!! He also tried a coffee bourbon drink which he says was ok, but not as good as the first drink. My first drink was a vodka based drink and it was super refreshing! By far one of the best vodka based drinks I've had in a long time! I also tried a tequila drink which was more on the Smokey side. It was ok, not as good as the vodka drink. The tequila started off sweet but then had a Smokey hard after taste which I did not care for. We also tried the devil eggs of the day which were truffle. They tasted the way they were described, like truffle eggs. They were ok, I wouldn't order them again but I will always ask about the devil egg flavor of the day! There's also a dip of the day too! They don't have an extensive food menu as they are more of a drink bar, but the little bit of food options they have are the perfect pairing for this spot. If you're downtown and looking for a chill spot with GREAT drinks!!! Stop in here! read more

My absolute favorite spot for a drink! The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy & the drinks are crafted perfectly. They've done an incredible job despite the pandemic making this a safe place to enjoy a drink. While their speciality is whiskey, they have many other drinks to choose from. I've had good wine & a delicious tequila mule. I asked if they had any jalapeño to give it a little spice and unfortunately they did not. BUT they went above and beyond and used a different type of pepper that gave my drink the perfect amount of spice. Best tequila mule I've had! This place has some really good unique drinks. I went on a Saturday night around 11pm and this place was somewhat busy. They had a server who seemed a bit stressed and by himeself when he needed some help. I ended up ordering at the bar which the bartender said oh your waiter will do this. It took about 15 mins before he came to our group and took our drink orders. Now to the good. The drink selections are out of this world and I want to go back and give it another try for sure. read more

I have been to Exchange twice since they opened- once on opening night and another weekday night since then. I have tried 3 cocktails overall, and they have all been alright. The presentation of them is amazing, I am just always slightly underwhelmed at the taste. They are a little heavy on the alcohol taste, although maybe I am just uncultured when it comes to good cocktails haha. The people I was with got some whiskey and bourbon flights that they seemed to enjoy. The first time we visited we got food menus once we sat down (just some small snack foods- cheese spreads, charcuterie boards, deviled eggs, etc.), but the second time we did not and had to ask what they offered. We ended up getting a cheese spread that was fantastic. Overall this place has a very cool vibe. Amazing decor, fitting wallpaper, and a great view of mass ave either from above or below. I enjoy visiting just for the ambience and location. Sitting downstairs was my favorite. They do a good job with covid precautions that I have seen, with everyone wearing masks. It seems a bit crowded inside but it looks like they do have the tables 6 feet apart. The low ceilings I believe give the impression that it is closed than that. I will be back because with such a good cocktail list, I know there is one there for me- I just need to find it! And to try some more of their small plates. read more

Their website is terrible. There are no menus for food or drink. We have friends arriving late tonight and we wanted whiskey but also food. Do they serve food and if so what kind? Thank you
Small bites - they're definitely not a food spot. I'd recommend grabbing food first, then visiting them for a great cocktail or two.
I know they are a whiskey bar but, do they have any champagne or sparkling wine?
