I would rate lower if I could. My wife and I booked a trip to cannon beach about a month ahead of time. My wife also booked us a couples massage for the trip, when making the massage reservation they had asked my wife what her preference is for the sex of the therapists and she told them she prefers two women. They asked us this so we assumed we would be greeted with two women when we arrived for our massage that we had been waiting over a month for, but when we got there we had to wait past our scheduled time to wait for a therapist because they were late. Then when we were shown to the massage room there was a man and a woman (the owner) in there, my wife and I exchanged confused looks as were expecting two women. They just as quickly left the room and told us to get undressed and choose our tables. I went out of the room to tell them that we were expecting two women and the man cut me off and laughed obnoxiously in my face and went to a laundry room and shut the door in my face as well. I went to the front desk to explain how this man just laughed in my face for telling him my concerns and the owner told my we either have to continue with the massage with the man who just laughed in my face or lose my deposit. She wouldn't even go talk to him before making her decision to keep my money. As I was leaving she called me a disgruntled customer in front of her other customers. He was late. He wasn't the therapist we requested. He laughed in my and my wife's face for something that THEY asked our preference about. The owner then preceded to call my wife and try and make sure we don't leave a bad review and then told us the reason he laughed in our face was because he was autistic? It was incredibly unprofessional and a waste of our time and ruined a good chunk of our vacation and made us really uncomfortable. She called again to inform us that she IS going to return our deposits after all she put me and my wife through and after she argued with me in front of her employees and was very rude when she talked to us. We already told our friends and families in Yakima (big families) to not waste their time and money there as our families are all frequent visitors of cannon beach. I want to love you, Cannon Beach Spa. I never had anything against you. I got one massage from you last year, and though not memorable, it did nothing to deter me from coming back. But that was before I met.... DUN DUN DUN... John Paul. Initially, my boyfriend was scheduled to be with the male massage therapist, and I with the female, for our two-hour couples massage. I agreed to take the male, however, given his slight uneasiness with having man rub him all over. A worse deal I never made. First of all, before we get to John Paul. The spa is really cute and zen-y out front. But the massage room - what? It's like a doctor's office. The floors are that ugly speckled linoleum, the windows are big and not curtained enough to prevent the room from being ultra-bright, and there was no massage-y atmosphere at all. I think they may have had on some new agey music, but this was back in May, so I don't remember ALL the details. Now, onto John Paul. Now this is just personal preference, but I like my massage therapist to look comfortable. If they don't look like they're wearing clothes they're comfortable in, it's hard for me to imagine they're going to be able to make me comfortable. John Paul was in a white dress shirt and black dress slacks. When I laid down on the table, I noticed he also had on black, three-eyelet dress shoes. I can only assume this is a regulation uniform, to which I say - Cannon Beach Spa, come on! The guy is on his feet all day! How about some Crocs? I could go on and on about the massage, but I will try to make it brief. It was absolutely atrocious. The worst massage I have ever had in my life. I instructed John Paul at the beginning to work on the knots in my shoulders and back. He did - if by "work on" you mean "find and then avoid". Also, I think he forgot it was a two-hour massage, turned me over about half an hour in (Julian's therapist kept him on his front for another 45 minutes thereafter) and then proceeded to work on my front for the REMAINING HOUR AND A HALF. Do you know how little there is to massage once you have a woman on her back? Well, that is, of course, unless you know her pretty well... But we won't go there. John Paul proceeded to go over my shoulders, arms, legs, and feet again... and again... and again. After about half an hour I was ready for it to be over. The remaining hour was miserable. The absolute lowest point of the massage was when John Paul's shoulder-length, curly, gelled hair brushed my face as he leaned over me. I almost vomited. I don't want any dude's long hair touching my face. And certainly not when I am meant to be relaxing. The massage was so awful that when I left, I actually felt worse than when I came in. I ended up coming back to Seattle and getting a massage at a place in Bellevue (which is awesome, and I will review soon) to correct the damage John Paul inflicted. Now, to be completely fair, my boyfriend enjoyed his massage. He didn't rave about it or anything, but found it pleasant and relaxing. So maybe it's just John Paul. Nonetheless, I do not anticipate visiting Cannon Beach Spa for another massage any time before hell freezes over. read more

My sister and I were here for a sister weekend and we came to Cannon Beach Spa. We got facials and the Zen Foot Treatment. It was amazing! Daneka was absolutely wonderful! She explained each process and was knowledgeable and friendly. Dawn was also great with the facial portion of the treatments. The products all smelled amazing and the whole experience was just so relaxing. My sister and I definitely napped a few times. For the facials we also received scalp massages and a choice between hand or foot massage. We both opted for hands since we had the foot treatment as well. Being the only true spa in Cannon Beach, I was a little worried the service would be slacking because they have no true competition. Boy was I wrong! My husband surprised me with a Japanese foot soak and massage which was so relaxing. The room we were in looked out onto a private, fenced, grassy area and the screen door was open. My husband and I took a day trip to Cannon Beach as part of our week long Babymoon getaway from the TX heat (last vacation before baby arrives!). I had researched places to get a pre-natal massage in town, and Cannon Beach Spa had some great reviews, so I decided to book here.....and I'm so glad I did! I booked my service about a week before flying out to Portland, and the gal I spoke to on the phone, Deanna, was very kind, explaining to me not only about the spa, but also recommended other places to visit while in town for the day. I decided on the 90 minute Chocolate Euphoria package (I mean, the name alone---why not?), and Deanna assured me I could get the pre-natal massage as part of that service. I arrived a little early to the spa, which was very easy to find. A short walk from where hubby and I had lunch around the corner. I was offered water in the waiting room and the receptionist (I didn't get her name) kindly explained the treatment I was booked for, which I appreciated because sometimes you don't really get the full picture of how the treatment is exactly going to go based off of the online description. After a short wait, I was greeted by my massage therapist, Connie. She was such a lovely woman and so pleasant. She explained to me how the chocolate wrap portion of the treatment would work. Basically, melted chocolate is literally "painted" on to the body using a brush. She made sure I felt comfortable with proper towel draping. Also, since I'm 29 weeks pregnant and not able to lie on my back for long periods of time, she accommodated this and did the "painting" portion with me sitting up on the side of the bed. I'm not really a bashful person, so I felt completely comfortable with just the towel draped in front of me while Connie got to work slathering the chocolate on from head to toe! It smelled divine! Once she was done, she helped me lie on the table and she proceeded to wrap me in sheets and warm towels. She left the room to allow me to enjoy this warm cocoon of chocolatey goodness, but assured me she would be back soon to check on me, knowing I couldn't stay on my back for too long. After awhile (I had no concept of time since I was enjoying the scent of the wrap so much), Connie returned and took off all the wrapping. She prepped the in-room shower for me so that it was warm and ready for me to wash off all the painted on chocolate. She explained that while I was in the shower, she would come back in the room to clean up the table and prep it for my massage. I almost didn't want to wash off all that chocolate because it smelled so good! But I knew I had more cocoa goodness on the way with my massage, so off came the chocolate coating. The bed was all changed out with fresh sheets and several pillows to help with propping and comfort. Connie came back in and worked her massage magic while I was comfortably lying on my side. Her pressure was just right and the smell of the cocoa butter massage lotion was decadent. That 60 minutes flew by - I could have easily used at least another half hour of pampering! At check out, the receptionist (Dawn I think was her name) handed me a voucher to take next door to the Chocolate Cafe. I was so excited because hubby and I had been there earlier and already purchased a few boxes of chocolates to take home to friends. Now it was MY turn to indulge! The voucher gets you either 5 or 6 truffles OR 2 truffles + a milkshake. I opted for the latter and I highly recommend ordering their Legendary Chocolate Milkshake, it was delicious! I had the 2 truffles as a treat when I got home. All in all, this was a lovely way to spend a few hours of my day trip to Cannon Beach. My husband came to pick me up after my treatment and could tell how relaxed I was. We had a nice walk on the beach afterwards and I was all smiles after my Cannon Beach Spa treatment! For all you mommies-to-be, (or really anyone!) if you are looking for a great place to get a massage, look no further, Cannon Beach Spa is the place to be! read more

Just to give you back ground, I"am a hairdresser who has been doing trades with a wonderful therapist for 5 years.....so I'm picky. Jessica was warm, fun and understood my need for relaxation. Her pressure was consistent and she only talked when I talked to her, sometimes therapists are to chatty and you can't relax. The space is very pretty and they offer alot of other services which I hope to try the next time I go to the Oregon Coast. Bottom line ....Ask for Jessica! read more

I starred this review a 2 due to my latest experience here. I had been here a year ago for a foot soak. That was awesome which is why I wanted to come back. I ordered a deep tissue massage. I was so excited but the girl never moved from the warm-up moves into the deep tissue. I chose the hour long one and was hoping to start right in with deep tiasue but the lady kept messing with my hair and jostling my body about. Those moves should be left for the relaxation massages. She did some awesome stretches and had some cool moves so I know the therapist is good but should I have flat out said go deeper? Needless to say the massage I so desperatly needed was a complete disapointment. Is there some code to tell a spa massage therapist that I want deep tissue? read more

On a post Christmas stay in Cannon Beach my boyfriend surprised me with a couple's massage. When we got there the receptionist was very friendly and after a short wait we were taken back into a very comfortable room. The massage was FANTASTIC! I had Alana(? I believe that was her name). She was so attentive to the areas I had mentioned were in need of special attention. I would HIGHLY recommend this spa, as well as this masseuse. Loved the place & hope to visit again!! Oh... suggestion - in case you leave your wallet in your hotel room - make sure you have enough cash for an adequate tip. Super foolish error on our part. It would be good if the massage therapist asked what area you want a massage (she didn't and ended up massaging my arms, hands, legs, feet, then did pressure point therapy around my clavicle which hurts now, and my wrists). I wanted my shoulders massaged which she didn't massage much or my back. Also I didn't think her chiropractic techniques were good. Pressure points on my wrists hurt a lot and moving my arm in angles was not deep tissue massage as I understood it and moving my leg at the knee while massaging was uncomfortable. She didn't ask how the pressure felt. It felt like she just wanted to try things and do her own thing. It was not relaxing and I felt run over. Now the area around my clavicle still aches the same day after I went in and my forearm plus my wrist from the pressure point therapy. Worse yet my wrists and area around my clavicle are now popping which is concerning for me. I also didn't like the "bowling ball on a string" technique where my head was pulled in different angles. The angles didn't feel right or relaxing. Also she massaged the front of my face a bit. I didn't like that either. Again I would have preferred being asked. The same day my shoulders are still tight which is what I went in for to loosen. She seems nice, but I think could work on her techniques (like stick to deep tissue massage as requested around my shoulders which I've had before on my back) and customer service. I've had whiplash three times and went in for a deep tissue/Swedish massage, but never had an experience like this. I will never go to a chiropractic/massage therapist again if this is what it is like. And I called to let the receptionist know. She said I should have spoke up. Yeah I did on the intake form (specified my shoulders). That should be enough or at least asked what area I want massaged. read more

DISCLAIMER: THIS REVIEW IS NOT ABOUT THE ESTHETICIANS, WHO WERE AMAZING!!!!!!! Yikes. This was the most stressful spa visit I've had. First, an hour before our appointment, we got a call that, due to the spa's error, they had to reschedule and could we come in in 15 minutes. No apology, no explanation. We're from out of town and were a ways away so not great. Eventually, they decided they could fit us in at a different time but made it seem like they were doing us a favor. We got there and my appointment, scheduled for 2:45, started at 3:05. ESTHETICIAN WAS AWESOME!! Wonderful and sweet and very knowledgeable. Afterward, my sister, fifteen minutes ahead of me, paid for both our treatments as a gift and went outside to wait for me. When I tried to leave, the front desk insisted I stay to "check out" and then made me wait for her to finish a phone call, only to tell me, "Oh, right, you were paid for." Again, made me wait for no reason and no apology. My sister and I agreed that when we spend that kind of money, it's a rare treat and meant to help us relax. This was, aside from our actual treatments, the most stressful spa experience either of us has ever had. Never again. read more

I wasn't so sure it would be good quality - but it most certainly was! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone! My husband had the basic swedish massage. I'm not sure of the gal's name who did his - but she had recently converted from being an aesthetician and talked the entire time. He wasn't able to relax because she seemed more interested in having a conversation than keeping him on schedule with his massage. His hour massage turned into almost an hour and a half - which is good if you like to talk during your relaxation time (I personally don't mind) - but that wasn't what he had in mind... So maybe it's good to state your wishes to your massage therapist from the beginning about whether you are there to chat or to relax and not talk :) The massage itself he didn't complain about - so i think that part was fine! read more

My wife and I purchased the madame butterfly package. Daneka was great. very curteous and professional. Janea provided the massage. It was rushed. She lotioned, massaged and stretched certain parts of my body. Nothing was done in my lower back nor used any lotion on my back. Janae massaged my back over the covers. She kept saying that 45 minutes for a massage is short and that I needed 90 minutes instead. How about better time management? Very disappointing. We couldn't relax because she kept talking rather than doing the massage. If the madame butterfly package consist of facial and massage why not put a timer to make sure you are providing the service described on the website to your customer. If you are thinking of getting the madame butterfly I suggest opt for something else. I gave a 2 star rather than a 1 star because my wife and I agree that Deneka was great and professional. The place was clean as well. If they had better time management my review and rating would have been higher. read more

We were fortunate to be able to have the soft indulgence package which included long massages, facials, and feet/hand treatments. We were in the same room, with one of us having a massage while the other had the facial and hand/feet treatments, then the therapists switched places so we could have the other treatments. It was about two-and-a-half hours of relaxing bliss. We loved the products, the laid-back and professional atmosphere, and our therapists. My daughters massage with Julie was perfection. Julie was very skilled and knowledgeable, taking care to work around my daughters shoulder issues. I had the Japanese foot treatment with Jacob.
