This place was delightful!!! We saw this place on TikTok and it did not disappoint! There were so many beverage specials it was hard to choose. The cotton candy cold foam was delicious and I would definitely come back for it. I tried the cannonball special sandwich and it was delicious with the crispy prosciutto and special sauce. I'm so glad that I discovered this café! It's a little bit out of the way but once you find it, my first impression was great. The space is bright and airy, there's wifi and space to work, and most importantly the coffee and espresso is excellent!! Love that they served Gracenote, and I had a fantastically smooth latte. The avocado toast was similarly fantastic-- nice, fluffy bread, a generous layer of avocado, and a variety of yummy toppings. Everything about this place is wonderful. The staff is so friendly and the ambiance is the perfect mixture of fun/whimsical and relaxing. I've been coming here for almost 2 years and I feel like it's a second home for me. Great for getting work done, but also nice for sitting and reading, or chatting with people. The food and drinks are excellent. Great breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and the COOKIES (best chocolate chip cookie in Boston, in my opinion). Rachel (the owner, who is amazing) has created a beautiful menu of smoothies, sandwiches, specials, and treats (often seasonally appropriate). The drinks are next level. So many opportunities to customize, so many flavors, and exciting specialty drinks (even an astrology-themed drink for each Zodiac season). For example, my current favorite drink: iced vanilla dirty chai with maple pancake cold foam on top. Incredible. I was excited to check out this new cafe on opening day- I love supporting the local businesses in Southie as much as possible- but was disappointed to see that not a single employee was wearing a mask. Not only is there a mask mandate in the city, but as someone who is considered high risk, I probably won't be back in the coming months. Honestly, if they had been wearing masks, I would give them a higher review. That being said, I grabbed some tea, hot apple cider and tried out some of their pastries that were available. All of the pastries were really good, except the donuts. It might just be that they weren't fresh because I came by in the afternoon, but they were kind of oily and didn't have much flavor. Maybe worth trying when they're fresh though since everything else tasted great. read more

I was initially attracted to this coffee shop because of the design of this cafe but was surprised by the food and coffee I got this morning! It does take a bit of time for the food to come out so make sure you have time - totally worth the wait though! I got the avocado toast which comes in two slices and it tasted better than most places I have been to! The sea salt coffee was also pleasantly tasty with a hint of sea salt. I LOVE Cannonball Cafe! Such an expansive menu with a variety of fun and creative drinks and baked goods. Easily the best sugar cookies I've had in my life. While I didn't get one this go around, I tried their Pumpkin Chai Latte on their seasonal menu and loved it. On a crisp morning, it was the perfect start to my day. I frequent Cannonball Cafe for coffee and to switch up my WFH atmosphere. The pastries, lattes, iced coffees, and toasts that I have tried have all been delicious, and I always look forward to getting to spend the day at Cannonball when I choose to work from there. I love how the team at Cannonball is always thinking of new and fresh ideas when it comes to drinks and events, from unique lattes to farmers markets on Sundays and a beautiful new patio, they have been a great addition to the neighborhood and it's fun and exciting to watch them grow and develop. Where Cannonball really shined recently is when I called to place a large cookie order for our wedding welcome party. Rachel was happy to take on the order on short notice, and made some of THE MOST delicious cookies I have ever had (chocolate chip with sea salt, snickerdoodle, and sugar cookies with sprinkles.) Our guests loved them, and the 50 cookies that we ordered were gone by the end of the night (and we only had 35 guests!) I would highly recommend Cannonball for a quick coffee, a nice work day vibe, or to bring desserts to for your next party or event! read more

Exactly what we needed in Southie! So pumped to have Cannonball Cafe open down the street. My husband and I stopped in for coffee but after getting hit with the intoxicating smells of fresh pastries, we grabbed breakfast sandwiches too. They have a ton of options for breakfast - so many incredible treats in the case along with many options for lunch as well (and smoothies!). I love the coffee here, it is absolutely delicious every time. The breakfast sandwiches are great and the avocado toast is borderline problematic how tasty it is. This place does a fantastic job regarding products, so I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area. However, I've always had an interaction with the owner, Rachel, that leaves me feeling confused. I've been to this place a handful of times and each visit I've had some sort of abrasive interaction with her and my friends have as well. I never write reviews on here but I genuinely get excited about supporting local coffee shops and I want this place to crush it. With that being said, I would recommend that Rachel works on making new customers feel more welcomed and comfortable. Just checked out this new spot which I was excited about. Staff seemed friendly at first. I waited over 30 minutes for an egg and cheese sandwich which I patiently waited for as I understand they are new business. There were not many people in the store. I kindly asked about the sandwich after 20 minutes and if they still had my order, in which I got a very snarky and rude response from who I believe was the owner. I was in a bit of shock seeing as all of our interactions up to this point were positive. I will not be returning due to this interaction, I hope they find ways in the future to be kind to their very patient customers. read more

The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We just flew into Boston this morning and desperately needed caffeine. After a quick search, we stumbled upon this gem! And the best part, THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE. My partner and I both have gluten allergies and finding gluten free options can be very difficult when traveling. I came in to the cafe to do some work, I got the ricotta berry toast and one of their fun holiday lattes with egg nog. Everything was delicious and they even had fun mugs to choose from. The food here was great but the service wasn't all that great, the owner was pretty rude to us. We came in and ordered food and drinks and while waiting, we thought a smoothie that came out was one of ours and she snatched it away saying "that's not for you." Pretty easy mistake to make and definitely a nicer way to say it! Then, when we asked for almond milk and she informed us the cafe is nut free, we commented that they had a Nutella milkshake and she looked at us as if we were stupid and said it came "pre made" or something along those lines. I think it's a fairly honest question! We weren't accusing anyone of anything, just making a comment. I really would like to come back here but definitely will think twice. I worked as a waitress for years and understand customer service jobs are some of the hardest jobs out there, but we weren't being impolite. But will say all the food we got was great and the sauce I got with my breakfast sandwich was awesome. read more

From the best matcha latte on the East Coast, creative astrological-themed seasonal drinks, to the most amazing cookies and pastries. The decor and atmosphere is warm and inviting with ample comfy seating to WFH or curl up with a good book/scroll through your phone. Maybe (I say maybe because the coffee, drinks, and food set a super high bar) the best part of it all is Rachel and the staff. Welcoming and friendly, Rachel is professionally trained and it shows-- she has thought of everything to give customers the very best café experience. The yummy treats and delish coffee will have you coming back for more and great conversation, engagement and food/drink recommendations will make you want to stay all day! Seriously, Boston does not realize how lucky they are.
