I'm so tired of boring cafes that are open spaces, hard surfaces, white walls, bright lights, and hard chairs. Don't get me wrong... I do enjoy that aesthetic for being productive, but not when I want to relax at a coffee shop. I was taking a day off and really wanted somewhere cosy to get a cup of coffee. I was excited to come across Caffe Nero! They had comfy chairs, nicely divided spaces, rustic decor, and a library-like sound quality - exactly what I was trying to find. The service was quick, the coffee was delicious, and I got to curl up on a comfy couch while I enjoyed my IQ Bar, 16 oz Americano, and doom-scrolled on Reddit. I'll absolutely be back if I'm in this part of Boston again in the future. read more

Cute cafe chain! There were a couple of these close to our hotel. I love the ambiance, the decor is so cozy, I want to stay in here to relax or hang out! There's a good number of seating inside and out, but since it was a bit chilly outside, most patrons were sitting inside, so we couldn't find a place to sit and had to enjoy our meal back at our hotel lobby. They have a lot of delicious looking pastries, sandwiches, and salads, and a large drink menu. My friend purchased a coffee and we shared a Tuscan Turkey baguette. The baguette was a bit hard but good overall. This is a great place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Stopped in early on a Sunday morning. At that time that place was pretty much empty so I had my pick of tables. I ordered an Americano and couldn't resist getting a cream puff. I came in to enjoy a cappuccino and asked for it in a mug instead of a to go cup. The employee told me, "I'm sorry, we're trying to avoid doing dishes later. Is it okay if I put it in a to go cup?" I said no because I really don't like drinking cappuccino from a paper cup. She simply said "I'm sorry" and walked away. What made it even more frustrating was that other customers around me were being served in mugs, so this seemed to be purely about not wanting to wash more dishes. I ended up just getting what my children wanted and left without my cappuccino. Extremely poor customer service and very disappointing. I was recommended Nero by the employees at the hotel I stayed at, and Nero was too salty. I ordered the mozzarella and prosciutto croissant, and it was basically inedible because of the salt. I will say thank goodness for the WiFi and the homey vibe that the café has, because when it comes to the food, there isn't a lot to write home about. read more

I enjoyed my visit here overall, however they forgot my order (which was placed online). After being reminded they made the coffee and we had it after a few more minutes wait. The tiramisu latte was quite delicious and very vanilla-ey, with hints of a cake flavor. It seemed very unique to me! I loved the dark academia ambiance which was perfect after a day of exploring Boston college and Boston university. Today did my first visit to the downtown crossing Caffe Nero and I went with two others. We tried to order from the scan at the end of our table but had a little trouble to complete it. The people at the counter really helped to get our order completed so we were very satisfied with how it turned out. The caffe was spacious with many places to choose to sit at and had very good lighting to see in. We felt very comfortable to enjoy the drinks and treats we ate today. I am a regular at Caffe Nero. This branch was probably one of my worst experiences. I ordered an iced matcha latte via the mobile app. When I got to the location, there were a few folks in line to order. I couldn't find any signage like most branches for mobile order pick up. I waited to the side to let the customers / barista be free. After a wait, I asked the barista where the mobile order pickup is, she motioned me to the end of the line. After waiting for a long while, well after my pickup time, I asked the barista again about my mobile order. Seems like she had made me a caramel latte. The only good thing is that after I clarified my order, she quickly made me my drink. However it was a poorly made drink as the matcha wasn't fully shaken. If you're paying for an $8 drink, I wouldn't want a dunkin experience. Please fix your mobile order system and add signage for pick ups. Would be great to add additional baristas during busy times. read more

Location has ample space and seating but can quick reach max occupancy due to college students, families on vacation, or whatever else brings people to Downtown Crossing. Large windows bring in light and the rustic decor beats the usual dark wood and brushed metal tones. Food and drink wise, you get the standard Caffe Nero experience. It's a chain, it's fine, it's not as pretentious as Tatte (which seems to have metastasized as a cancer infecting all Boston). One annoying nitpick about the service - the servers are cordial when you place an order but immediately shut down when you hit "no tip", even for a takeout order. These employees have attitude problems. Will avoid in the future. read more

So sad to leave a one star review but it is very well-deserved. The coffee is decent, that is the only positive thing I have to say. Matcha is not matcha, it is a very milky green and does not taste like an authentic matcha drink at all. Customer service is consistently, IMPOSSIBLY rude, probably the least friendly interactions I have ever experienced in a coffee shop setting. Both women I've had the displeasure of ordering from today, at 8:30am and 7:30pm were so nasty and left a horrendous taste in my mouth. Not sure why the attitude is so prevalent here. At 12:30pm On Monday Sept 4, 2023 I ordered for the first time here on my lunch break at work. I got Turkey & bacon with herbed cheese, swiss & provolone, served on focaccia bread and. A classic soft tea bread made with bananas. And tried the blackberry soda and a Refresher (24oz) Strawberry Dragonfruit! The banana bread was still warm very moist not dry tasting and very good! It had a nice balance of sweet and was delicious! The sandwich was the best the focaccia bread was exceptional the herbal cheese with the turkey and bacon was delightful I enjoyed this sandwich very much! Very nice coffee stop. Located on the edge of Chinatown, across from the old Paramount Theatre, this eclectic little UK based coffee cafe makes a very nice cup! The furnishings are a collection of wooden chairs, comfy sofas, wing back and other soft seating. Coffee tables, end tables, and booths. All scattered against a library-esque backdrop including a massive fireplace. I picked up an almond croissant which was very tasty. Not overly sweet, with a bit of almond jam in the middle that was unexpected. My macchiato was well made and had a pleasant bite at the end. We waited by the counter for our coffees and bussed our table before departing. Our visit, after the morning rush was very pleasant. Plenty of pastry on hand, plenty of staff to help the steady stream of guests. Customers working on laptops, business meetings and friends gathering were just some of the ways customers were enjoying the space. Definitely would stop by again for a good cup of coffee. read more

This place has awesome, awesome coffee. We got mochas, cortados, and macchiatos here. All awesome! We used the app to order ahead and for the most part it worked well. Had a glitch once but the staff were great. We didn't sit and eat here but would definitely do that as the inside and the outdoor space is very nice. read more

Conveniently located at the bottom of government center and one-beacon st. For frequent flying at the UMass Amherst club for meetings but their cafe in the building is arguably better with the espressos, price (while they don't have the food) Nero, when I went was very chaotic and very disorganized with the customer ordering process. I love that they're so busy but it didn't make for an enjoyable spot to sit, enjoy conversations and get work done quietly. If that's what you're looking for I'd go elsewhere! This is for the South Station kiosk. Just do better, please, okay? Ordered a ham and cheese baguette. $10 plus $2 tip for some disinterested kid to stick a dry old sandwich in a bag. Until now, I had only ever come here to order a hot green tea, which I'd sip while tapping away at my laptop for an hour or so. The hot green tea was never anything to write home about, since it only comes in a lousy 12oz ceramic cup unlike the nice tall big paper cup you can order at Starbucks, where you get TWO bags and 3x as much hot water, and much better quality tea for about the same price. I never really found this anything to complain about, just looked at it as basically a "parking fee" for my use of the undeniably beautiful place with its tasteful colors, comfy chairs, and gloriously high ceilings. Most Starbucks locations are not nearly as nice to linger in. Whelp, today I came here with two friends who ordered a large matcha latte and a large caramel iced coffee, plus desserts---a pistachio cheesecake slice, and a tiramisu oblong-thingy. Feeling a bit sleepy, I ordered a double espresso instead of my usual miniature hot green tea. MISTAKE, MISTAKE, MISTAKE, MISTAKE, MISTAKE! Both of the tall cold drinks were utterly tasteless, by which I don't mean they tasted BAD, but they literally had ZERO taste, including even the whipped cream on top when directly spooned out. My "double espresso" the staff seemed to totally forget about so had to badger them 15 minutes later when I noticed that folks who came in long after me were already picking up their drinks (and it was a slow Sunday afternoon)...it was not bad compared to my friends' liquid atrocities, but fairly mediocre and more importantly, looked to be more of a single or at most "one and a half" instead of a "double" espresso when it finally arrived. And then, the desserts---oy! The cheesecake was similarly weak tasting and rather than rich and firm and strongly (gasp!) CHEESE-tasting, had the consistency of thick applesauce. The tiramisu was ok-ish, but nowhere near the quality of a simple Whole Foods tiramisu slice. Lesson learned: come to Caffe Nero strictly to take up space and consume oxygen while sipping some token drink as the price of admission. Go elsewhere if you want something that actually tastes good and packs a punch, whether that punch is in flavor or caffeine potency. (I've had stronger cafe lattes than that "double" espresso.) Second star given ONLY for ambience, and the convenient location. read more

Caffe Nero is my go-to for breakfast in downtown Boston. I love the old world charm and the ample labeled vegan items. If there were a Caffe Nero in the place of every Starbucks, the world would be a much better place. I typically order a vegan breakfast roll ($6) which consists of Impossible meat with Just Egg and probably Violife cheese on a nicely soft bread roll. It's a great and reasonably priced breakfast sandwich (albeit microwaved instead of toasted, unfortunately). I prefer the breakfast roll over the croissant sandwich, but that's just me. The vegan croissants ($4) are also excellent: flaky and addictive. The vegan wildberry tart ($6) tastes great, with a crumbly crust and not-too-sweet berry filling. I think the blond girl working on January 18th (around 11/11:30) made it a personal goal to be unpleasant for the day, and to make her customers miserable. We walked in and asked where the restrooms were, while making it clear we would be placing an order. We came back to ask for the code (wasn't provided- no big deal). Got it and found no tp inside. They provided it. We got our order and I asked for a cup of ice (aka another opportunity for her to display her ill-mannered attitude). She rudely asked me to get a cup from the self serve station for the ice, and I followed her order She and her co-workers enthralling conversation seemed to trump any paying customers, and their needs (no matter how minimal they were). I never leave reviews, but had to for this. Poor experience overall. Changes need to be made. One positive: this was our only negative interaction during our first visit to Boston! read more

Unfortunately they were out of the cold foam which would have elevated my choice more. I was about to drive to Montréal from Boston but first I needed to refuel with a quick breakfast, so luckily I stumbled across Caffe Nero! This small little shop features plenty of sandwiches, pastries, and of course beverages. The staff was friendly enough when I was there and had me in and out pretty quick. I ended up just ordering an orange juice and a small croissant sandwich. I'm not really sure what I expected from the croissant sandwich but it didn't really have much egg or bacon inside of it, it was not very filling, but it did taste pretty good. The orange juice definitely tasted locally made and that was pretty darn good. Overall, this is probably a great place to stop if you drink coffee, but I can't speak on that. First time coming to the Chinatown location. Some pros & cons include the following: -The overall look of the place. Doesn't look like your traditional coffee shop, it's a unique aesthetic. -Not super expensive, I say pretty affordable to come here. -The pastries look pretty good. They have some sandwich options and muffins. -Pretty spacious, good amount of seating Cons -I ordered a muffin and hot chocolate to enjoy in house. I asked about a certain muffin I wanted but wasn't sure what it was & server completely ignores me. And asks twice about what I wanted because they couldn't understand me or make out what I was saying (no big deal though, I'm sure the staff is making sure they hear what you want correctly). And when I asked about the muffin, she just took it & added it to my order ignoring my question. It was about $6.95 for the hot chocolate & muffin. After trying both, I was a bit disappointed.
