They're an average market. I've run into an issue three times now: the steak dinner is advertised as on sale, but they run out. And I'm not shopping late in the evening. In addition, the chicken that was on sale didn't appear to be refrigerated. The one positive is that the employees were very helpful. read more

The service here is just horrible. I thought with this being a new location it would definitely be cleaner and better but it's for not. I ordered a shrimp sandwich and I specifically said that I only want lettuce and tomatoes with no mayonnaise and no pickles. I paid for my food and when I got to the car, I looked at my sandwich and I still had mayo on it. I went back inside to let them know and the big light skin man that took my order had an attitude when I said it was made wrong. As we was redoing my sandwich, I seen him walk out from behind the hit food area and grab 2 tomatoes from the produce section of the store. He walks back to the hot food area and immediately started cutting the UNWASHED tomatoes to put on my sandwich. I told him to not put those tomatoes on my sandwich if you can't wash them. Stopped by the Consecos today with my son on the way home from school to grab a couple of quick drinks, an Orange juice and a soda... While checking out, the very polite girl behind the counter very QUICKLY explained a 50 cent charge for using my debit card from my local bank and not spending more than $10.... Can anyone explain to me if this is normal...? It doesn't seem correct and has never happened to me before in a grocery store. I have frequently used the Consecos in Mid-City in the past and have found the ownership and what seems to me is owner family related management to be seriously paranoid and tight fisted, to the point I was told multiple times that I could not shop because I had a backpack... worried I was going to steal, I guess... Seriously off putting Zero customer service from the old schoolers on staff and stares from a distance like you're being watched. The one shining light in Consecos is the wonderful staff of young ladies that work there.... They clearly haven't been tainted by the family management... My fear (for them) is it will only take time. I won't be returning to the Lakeview location again, and that was my first time! I've been driving my truck to the Mid-City Consecos the 4 blocks from where I live because they dont let me bring a bag inside so I can carry my groceries home walking. Overall I like this neighborhood market, but I can't count how many times I've asked the deli department for freshly sliced turkey only to get home and realize they gave me ham. They need to do a better job of labeling their meats after opening them. read more

I frequent the Conseco on Elysian Fields Avenue. Neighborhood grocery feel, with big store selections! I love this store and can't wait until the new store is ready! I especially love that you can run in, grab deli sliced Chisisi meats, Swiss cheese and a fresh French brad to go home and make your own po'boys. read more

A gem in a neighborhood that needs it, pretty good selection without having to go to a super market.

Let me preface this by saying it's awesome that this place is there, and I'm sure it's super convenient and loved by people who live nearby. However, I happened to be in need of a few specific items, and usually I can find said items at the Canseco's on Esplanade, so since this was the first grocery store I saw after deciding to acquire abovementioned items, I stopped in to buy them. However, after spending several minutes failing to find: whole wheat lasagne noodles, ricotta cheese, a disposable lasagne pan, the kind of litter I usually buy, cat food, a massive bag of mozzarella cheese, fresh green beans, and other stuff, I finally got frustrated, gave up, and bought the one thing I did manage to find (cans of fancy feast). Lesson learned. This place carries none of the things I usually buy, so there's no reason to ever go here again, unless I for some reason decide to move to...Gentilly? What neighborhood is this in? So, there you have it. It's not a bad place in itself, it's a grocery store in a place where a grocery store is, I imagine, sorely needed. However, it's inconvenient to my house, I like the Canseco's on Esplanade better, and the one time I tried to buy stuff they pretty much failed me on all counts. I love the weekly sales and three day sales. They have such a variety and it's very clean. But I'm not sure who's trying to call their self cooking seafood gumbo but it's terrible. I'm glad I purchased a small portion. It has no taste that gumbo should have. I will not be getting that anymore. read more

hey guys, we love you in the neighborhood where i spend much of my grocery dollars. what is irritates is the lightning of the orange sacks of the firewood since the beginning of the season. For $6.49 you got a decent bag, still high for 'light' wood but you don't mind paying for convenience, and it sold quickly. Next batches are all almost 50% less and sold at the same price. As these are filled for supply and demand, it is quite irritating because the pieces burn so quickly. And what is up with your spice department. The spice shelves are bare and all management says is that none is coming in? other than that, i am happy to have you here. read more

I have mixed feelings about this Consecos. I love that it is close, a neighborhood spot and the people are always nice. However, quality of produce and meat can be very inconsistent and always make sure to check expiration dates. read more

Good in a pinch. Store is over crowded with merchandise and when you add a crowd of people it can be a mess and a stressful situation. Produce department is poor at best with rotting food and flies abound. Stick to can goods and packaged goods. Usually under staffed but their staff is very good and helpful. That is the reason most people keep going back. read more

It is a small market, but I found all I needed. I spent about $56 dollars and carried three full brown bags of food back home. I would have gotten only 2/3 of that from Rouses at that price.Their fresh produces are definitely cheaper than at the Rouses and as fresh. I just had the red delicious apples they had on sale and it was crisp and great. I don't get why they have such low ratings. I will be coming back since this is the second closest market from where I am staying while I am New Orleans. Rouses is the closest but I am not very happy with their prices. read more

I am so glad there is this little grocery 6 minutes away from me. I have never had too bad a wait here. It is small and a bit funky but it has all the essentials and for good prices. So I just had a horrible customer service experience at Canseco. You would think that a small locally owned grocer would place a higher emphasis on servicing its clientele, but apparently that's not the case. After my card was declined I checked my balance and then called Chase and determined that my purchase was not declined by my bank because I had adequate funds in my account but by Canseco's system. The managers were dismissive and one completely ignored me. I will not be patronizing this store ever again. read more

I am a disabled senior and need groceries delivered to me I no longer drive and physically it is impossible for me to shop. I contacted the Esplanade store because they offer senior discounts on Tuesdays and delivery for only 15.00. I have worked with Miss Joanne for over 6 month's. They take my order in person on the phone and if there is a need to substitute they call and she knows all her products and advises me. The delivery people are helpful and considerate. Last week Miss Joanne wasn't available and they weren't doing deliveries from Esplanade I called Elysian Fields and spoke to Miss Maryann and asked her if she could help me out this was before corona crazy and they said they would even though I was outside there delivery area...how amazing is that! Now due to the corona virus they do not have the time or people to deliver and I understand this so my son and room mate went, because I am quarantined and got a lot of the groceries we need. They were amazing before and know me and now they are even more amazing because they are still open and trying to keep food on the shelves for us here in New Orleans and know how important it is. Are they the cheapest and largest no they are local and doing everything they can to provide for us here in NOLA during the corona virus at there own personal expense and health and I love each and every one of them! So forget the big boxes and support our smaller local grocery chains I know I will and am grateful for them being here and working to provide food and service during this pandemic. I know I will continue to shop with them forever. read more

My first purchase from this store. My purchase was the whole ribeye steaks. We tenderized them and still could not eat and the Elysian Fields store manager basically said too bad.
