Later that day they gave us a courtesy call to let us know that some storms were coming in and if we were coming in from the west we'd be hitting some significant rain. Pretty nice. Very good RV park. The sites are nice. Not paved but still very good. Small gravel makes it easy to level. Picnic table at each site is on concrete slab. Full hook-ups. When we got there and were hooking up a member of the staff drove by our site and called us by name and asked if we were doing ok. Great service! Very nice large pool. It's open 9:30a-9:30p. They have a volleyball net and basketball hoop so you can play in the pool. Park is pretty large. There is a pond out back where you can go fishing. They have cabins available and a few have good sized decks that overlook the pond. Nice tent area with covered picnic tables and electrical outlet. Would like to have seen grills at each site. Cabins and tent sites seem to have them, but RVers like to BBQ, too. Also some recycling bins would be good. We pulled in after dark and the entrance was not very well lit and there were a lot of cars due to an event in the Rec Center so it was hard to see where we were supposed to park to check in. Overall a good campground. I'd come back.

We found this to be a very nice campground, beautifully maintained, quiet and peaceful, staffed by friendly and gracious people. It is a very scenic place with a nice pool and a pond if you like to fish or just watch the moon rise. We are tent campers, and were happy to see that there was some shelter from the hot Texas sun along with close water and power. We booked in advance and we looked forward to our one night stay in Caddo Mills, but when it was time to leave, we wish we could have stayed several days longer.

The state park had multiple clean restroom facilities with water fountains and places to fill bottles. I enjoyed a 14 mile trail run, looping each trail several times. Multiple trails offer lakefront views. The park is open early (6 AM) all the way til 10 PM with self-pay options for entering. At just $5 to enter, it's a real bargain to get outside and get your dose of nature in. There were minimal pests (bugs) throughout the park (unlike my last trip to Broken Bow!), and I must have seen at least 20 deer in the 3ish hour period I was there. It's not Colorado or anything, but for being so close to Dallas it's a perfect retreat. The park staff was very friendly, along with all the locals I encountered on the trails!

They have campers set up on site to rent and a few RV hookups. It's not a very big park and has a bath house on site. It also has a boat ramp and plenty of places to fish off the bank. Law Enforcement makes several trips through the park during business hours. The city staff is accommodating. The place is mowed and clean. We have camped here twice so far and there are no turds hanging around as of yet. The town has a population of about 1,500 people. There are shops and restaurants close by and a grocery store in Quinlan.

It was spring so not too bad with bugs. There was a huge thunderstorm the first night so the ground was really soggy the next day. Our tent did not leak but the next day when the sun was out we unpegged it and turned it over for the bottom and the ground beneath to dry out. We had our dog and she and I did several walks on trails. The park restrooms were fine, they do a great job of keeping them clean. About the only negative thing was the erosion next to where we parked our truck, almost a 10 inch drop off but I see this a lot at Texas state parks. I wish the Texas state government would put more into maintenance.

It seems to be mostly permanent residents with very little short term space it seemed, but it was convenient to where we were going. Everything was way too wet, for them and us, but that's not their fault. The owner/manager/whatever was nice enough but did not leave us instructions for after hours arrival. I know the weather had caused them big problems I'm sure. We survived but were only there for one night and moved on. They had what seemed to be a nice TV room and pool but we didn't need any of that.

It was only five dollars a person to get in for the day. The main office was very clean and organized and the bathrooms were clean and we also purchased a few keepsakes. I am not an RVer but they have lots of nice shady spots. Some that are pull through and some you have to back into. It looked like all of the spots had a gazebo type cover. They also have cabins you can rent out; some thing my wife and I discussed for the future. It was very quiet and covered in a lot of trees and seemed like a very nice place to camp. As we drove out, we had the unexpected surprise of seeing 3 deer in one spot and two more in another.
