My daughter blew through a stop sign during her official driving test, but she passed so there's that. She has since gone on to run over several curbs and get into a not fault accident that she technically could've avoided by paying closer attention to the road. I can't fault the school for the accident, but for the amount of money paid I feel like I didn't get a really good value or instruction. UPDATE: the business manager replied with a useless comment about MY EFFORT to teach my daughter defensive driving. Excuse me buddy that's why we hired you. I had a genuinely great experience with Cantor's Driving School and finally got my license after years of avoiding driving due to anxiety. First, huge appreciation for Susan, who answers the phones--she was incredibly helpful. Their schedule gets booked out months in advance, but she patiently walked me through the process, helped me find the best timing, and set clear expectations. That kind of support matters, especially when you're nervous to begin with. I booked the 3-lesson package with the road test. My first two lessons were with Tim--absolutely outstanding. He asked about my driving history, and from the moment I got in the car, he was calm, grounded, and never once made me feel judged or rushed. He was patient, straightforward, and friendly. He had enough confidence in me to take me on I-95, which I honestly never thought would happen. That alone was a breakthrough moment. My final lesson was with Johnny K., who's clearly been doing this a long time. He's not warm and fuzzy--but he will teach you defensive driving in a serious, no-nonsense way. He doesn't take shortcuts or BS, and I respect that. He made sure I was truly prepared. The road test process was smooth and easy to schedule. Everything was handled efficiently. Jim was incredible, he made the road test smooth and easy. Now, a suggestion for Cantor's management: recognize and keep instructors like Tim and Johnny, who consistently help students succeed--and don't hesitate to let go of those who receive repeated complaints. A driving school is only as strong as the people behind the wheel, and students (and their parents) deserve consistency and professionalism across the board. Also, I'd recommend reviewing the cancellation policy. It currently doesn't protect instructors enough. Sometimes people get sick last-minute--especially with viral infections--and it's better for everyone's safety if they can reschedule without being punished too harshly. Forcing someone to show up sick just to avoid a fee can backfire badly--for both the student and the instructor. Giving 5 starts just because of their friendly and polite instructors. One very busy afternoon on way to get onto I95, the road was jammed with traffic and I needed to get in the line to make a left. Accidentally I missed my opportunity and the driver next to me (which happened to be Cantor's Driving School) let me cut in line despite how long he was waiting his turn. Me being a Miami driver, very seldomly people let you cut in so I was very grateful. HIGHLY SUGGEST!! I took my Class E drivers exam with them and it was perfect. It was very quick and was just great. The instructor clearly explained my mistakes and was very kind about it. Very very very nice people and very clean/professional office. They also suggested that I go to a tax collector office later that day (which was a bit north) to get my license. My husband and I felt she would work better with a professional instructor than us, her parents. We purchased a package of 5 lessons for $740.00. For each lesson our daughter was picked up at our home. This was wonderfully convenient. The lesson time was two hours. My daughter got along well with Ray and said he was patient and gave clear instructions. Ray was very professional and on time or early for each appointment. My son has had one lesson so far and it went well, which is why Cantor gets 2 stars instead of one. The problem with Cantor is its organization. I signed my son up and of course had to pay up front. Then I had to schedule his lessons. Oy. The website is a disaster. First you have to find your town. Cantor operates in several states and you have to scroll down to find your town - no search feature. Our town was about 100-150 towns down. After I found our town, I was given the names of 8-10 instructors. You click on one, you get a scheduling calendar. You have to click on each day marked available to find a slot. I checked each instructor. There was not a single available lesson for any of them when my son could take one (after school or weekends) for two months. I checked back over the next two weeks, and nothing. So I called Cantor to ask for my money back. They found me a cancelation, so we stayed. My son got his first lesson around 6 weeks after we signed up. And of course I couldn't find any additional available lessons for months. I gave up for the rest of the school year. I signed my son up for the rest of his lessons for the summer, where I found available lessons "only" 4 weeks out. And I found a fun thing. After you sign up for one lesson, the website logs you out! Had to scroll for my town, run through the instructor's calendars etc. repeatedly to schedule the rest of the lessons. Cantor, please: 1. Be upfront about the unavailability of lessons. Tell us BEFORE you take our money; 2. Fix your website. Add a search function for "first available" lesson slot. It shouldn't take 20-30 minutes to schedule a lesson. read more

So I was freaking out for my 16 year old to drive a car the FIRST time EVER in Las Vegas (keep in mind I'm am insurance agent)!! But Richard, my daughters ex-police Officer / instructor, put my mind at ease instantly ! After 30 hours of daytime driving with Richard we moved to a funny & cool ex-police Officer for 10 hours of night time drive; Joe! My daughter absolutely loved both instructors. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Huge scam. I went there to take my driving test but I took no lessons there. I have had plenty of driving practices and lessons from a different company. As I was waiting 2 adults took their tests and failed. As the first one who failed was waiting to leave they repeatedly asked her if she wanted to buy lessons and she declined each time. My first thing to do was park and as I was pulling into the spot he hit his brakes then tells me to back out of the space I was close to hitting a cone with my mirror and he stops me and tells me I'm disqualified then immediately follows up with asking if I want to buy lessons... This all clearly shows that they probably won't pass you unless you have invested $600+ in lessons. read more

I have been to several driving schools in 2 states and had bad experiences at almost every one of them. I had went to 2 driving schools in Florida before I found Cantor's. At one I was screamed at by the instructor, at the other I was given false information on how to pass the road test and I failed it. I wasn't even shown how to correctly park, I had to youtube that.  So I went looking for yet another school and I found Cantor's Driving School. If I had known about them before I would have chosen them above any other school, just for the fact that all of the instructors are former cops. I spoke with Susan and she was so nice. She always called me back right away if I left a message and always tried to get me the appointments I wanted. I was assigned an instructor, and to be honest I wasn't 100% satisfied with this instructor. I won't mention any names, but I needed to work on specific things like parking and 3 point turns and all we did for 2 lessons was drive around my neighborhood. I can understand that for true beginners, but I had been taking lessons (at other schools) for months at that point. So for my third lesson at Cantor's I was assigned Ken. I told him about my horrible experiences at the other schools, and he listened and sympathized, which I instantly felt good about. He assured me that he would teach me the proper techniques, and he showed me the paper form with exactly what you need to do to pass the road test. We did a 2 hour lesson and I learned more in that one lesson than in months at the other schools. In minutes he showed me how to park, (finally!) how to do hand over hand, we practised turns, etc. The lesson was packed with what I needed to practice on and I was starting to feel good about driving. I wanted to rebook with Ken but he was booked up. One of the instructors he recommended was Al so I booked with him. He was phenomenal also. When I met him he already knew about my previous experiences. He assessed my driving and knew right off what I needed to work on. We went to a parking lot and practiced what is on the test plus went over other important things like blind spots. Then he got out of the car and he had me do several practice runs for the road test. Now this was a big thing for me, since I never drove alone before. But doing that helped me tremendously. Al was so patient that I was able to relax and just practice at my own pace.  After the lesson I asked him if I was ready to try taking the road test again. He said yes. He could have said no, and got me to pay for more lessons, but he was honest and I appreciate that.  The school is authorized to administer the road test. I signed up for that and Susan got me an appointment for the next day which I was happy about because the lesson was still fresh in my mind. I got there early, they took me right away......and I passed with flying colors!!!!  Thanks to Ken and Al and their professionalism, patience and respect I am a driver now. Thank you! read more

I am extremely happy with my experience at Cantor's --this is by far the most professional and extraordinary center you will encounter and could enlist for all of your driving instruction needs! I started with Cantor's in Mid-June with a permit, less than 3 hours of driving experience, no "feel" for the brake & gas pedal, and a severe anxiety after causing a fender bender in my friend's car (with my daughter in the back seat)! I am now proud to say that I hold a FL Driver's License and a newfound confidence behind the wheel. Being over 20 years old, I had just about given up hope, but I'm so grateful for the services provided from everyone at Cantor's. We had a great experience using Cantor's Driving School for our son. Driving instructor, Victor, gave our son driving lessons. Our son had a lot of respect for Victor, being a retired police officer, and felt like he had learned quite a bit from him. We, as parents, could also see he had gained confidence in his driving after the first lesson. Victor was always on time and took time to talk to us after each lesson, which was great. We did the package that included the instructor (Victor) scheduling and picking up our son up to take him to the DMV to take his driver's test to get his license. Today I was picked up by my instructor, Glenn. He picked me up at 9:45 am, which was 15 minutes before my pick up time at 10:00 am. I thought that he was very polite coming early to my house, because he didn't have to do that. We ended up getting to the DMV at 10:00 am and he went over some things that were going to be on the test. He gave me little pointers and guidelines about absolutely everything. He talked to me about signaling, turning, looking into my mirrors, my blind spots, the correct way to turn out of a parking spot, and most importantly, to take my time. I believe that without him, I would NOT have been as prepared or even passed. Not to mention he was very patient, because we had to wait 2 1/2 hours for my appointment time and if he hadn't of gone into the DMV and spoken with the manager, I definitely would have had to wait probably another hour. So he also saved me some time. He waited for me to get out of the test which I know the instructors have to do, but he made it so relaxed and fun. I'm naturally a really nervous person, but he is the absolute perfect person for the job. Cool, calm, and collected. I think i made a new friend today! Such an awesome experience, and I will be telling everyone about Cantors. It makes sense why they are the #1 driving school. THANK YOU! I finally passed. What a great feeling! The test proctor wasn't very kind. 4 of my friends came here and failed. One even came back to retest and failed again. We all retook our test at an actual DMV and passed with flying colors. We hired Cantor to prepare our daughter (who refuses to read the handbook or consider basic driving rules as being anything more than 'our opinion') in being more defensive in her approach to driving. Though fine at operating a vehicle, she lacks the ability to actively consider her surroundings and believes that 'steering and turning' is all that is required to be considered a 'good driver.' Sadly, after only two lessons our assigned Cantor driving instructor has reinforced our daughter's arrogance with comments like "You don't have to read the manual as I'll tell you the parts that will be on the test" and "If I could, I'd give you a license today." Clearly, we hoped to have a 'professional' instructor bolster the importance of being as prepared as possible from all sources of information - including the handbook - as well as impress upon our 15 year old that, statistically speaking, applying caution is imperative instead of minimizing the seriousness of doing 65 mph on an off-ramp. In short, I did not need to spend money to promote 'being reactive' when the goal was to emphasize 'pay attention and take the responsibility and privilege seriously' ... no matter how high the teen's unmerited self-confidence may be. I loved the idea of retired police officers as instructors, had seen positive reviews on Yelp and other sites so picked Cantor for my son. Scheduling was easy, they sent reminders and confirmations, and the instructors were always prompt in arriving. My son quickly learned to drive with confidence. Great instructor!! was very professional and an excellent teacher, however the 1-star is given for the dishonesty of the owner of the school. I moved from out of state and called the school and told them what documentation I have and they assured me that it should be fine. I paid for the road test and when I showed up, the DMV told us that the documentation was not sufficient because of a law that passed, I was sure the school would reschedule the road test with no additional fee since I had specifically checked with them before, instead they refused to take responsibility for it and said "it is not their responsibility to know these laws" The school should have never told me that my documentation was sufficient, instead they should have advised me that they don't know these "laws" and I should call the DMV. In summary.... if you plan to use this school, make sure you find out all of the Florida DMV laws beforehand.... then again... what's the point of having a driving school for the road test.... read more

This has to be the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was highly disappointed. On the phone I was in the middle of asking a simple, and yet probably common question and the man on the phone interrupted me, yelled at me and had the worst attitude.
