This is no ordinary pit stop in the middle of nowhere. High-end groceries, regular c-store goodies, camping supplies, local art, a bakery, and shockingly, the thing we needed most--Flonase. Two sprays twice a day keeps the allergies at bay. Past the welcoming shaded patio were the cleanest and roomiest bathrooms I've found in a gas station. These could be found in someone's home. Hills and Hollows was a bright spot on a gorgeous Utah day. Stop and enjoy as long as it suits you.

We stopped here on a whim on the way out of Escalante heading North and could not have been more surprised. Of course they have gas, but this is so much more. The store has fresh baked goods from Boulder Bakery, a pretty full "liquor store", local handmade jewelry and a lot of camping/backpacking/hiking essentials like snacks, liquids, and freeze dried meals. Next to the Mini Mart you can see Boulder Bakery in the works making fresh sourdough and donuts - THE BEST DONUTS ON PLANET EARTH - Additionally, Cache Cannery has a spot here where they sell fresh jams, marmalades and more. I think they were trying to use a foreign debit card. But it was a bummer for them they didn't have anyone that can help them besides us. Thankfully, we were there at the same time and it was no big deal to help them out. We were able to use the pressure washer for a while to get all the mud off of everything, and then we followed it up with soap and rinse. There were quite a few people that ended up waiting behind us so this place is definitely a necessary place for this area. I really appreciate that this place is here!

Let's highlight the greatest of moments that we have had just briefly together. Life is grand! Get out and live. The best of the area we have found. The store is highly organized and well set up . What more could one ask for. At the hours that we have been visiting . I'm just glad we are not awaking the dead. All was still and quiet and then we walked in . We stayed at Bear Valley twice while traveling between Idaho and Arizona. The first stay was great…read more The facilities are clean and area is quiet. Our second stay was a disaster. Our dog, while on leash per the rules, was attacked by another camper's dog which was off leash and suffered bites. I reported the incident to the front desk. They gave us info on vets, but all were closed and none of the emergency numbers returned our calls. What was disappointing is that the front desk folks didn't seem the least bit concerned this happened and there were apparently no consequences for the camper whose dog attacked ours. I went out later that evening to take trash out and the camper had music going, was grilling, and his dog was outside off leash barking, like nothing even happened. Many campgrounds have zero tolerance pet policies. At Point of Rocks in Prescott, he would have been asked to pack up and leave. But not at Bear Valley. No accountability. No ownership. No consequences. So while we traveled over two hours out of our way, incurred as hefty pet bill and then traveled five plus hours home, this camper enjoyed his time at Bear Valley. So no thanks. I'll take my chances camping on the side of the road.

This guy was clearly perturbed that he was being bothered by the question. He did say we could have the weekly rate listed on the website; but his demeanor was a complete turnoff.
