I am surprised to see the amount of negative reviews for this Vet. We live in Lake Havasu and I have a very temperamental French bulldog that has a slew of issues. Two times he has been here for emergency surgery and care. And it has been nothing short of amazing. They would call me text me, etc. with any updates for him. The first time he was in it was for four days for a stomach surgery. The second time he was in they cared for him after another Vet completely left me high and dry after they performed surgery on him they assured me if I brought him here they would give him fluids keep him quiet, etc. and make sure that the surgery that was performed on him was up to par. I have never had any issues with this vet nor have I had an astronomical bill for the care that my dog has received. So needless to say, I am shocked at their reviews cause I've always had a good experience and we will be back and always try and recommend people here. read more

My first visit went well. My boy was having a problem, we went in under urgent care, and they were responsive and got us in pretty quickly. The follow up visit was a bit different. The vet was great but the assistant, not so much. My boy is a bit mouthy (it's a breed thing) and will bite if I do something he doesn't like; he'll do that to anyone. The assistant tried to take his temperature and he resisted by moving his head around--the assistant tried to force it and he gently went to "mouth" her hand. Rather than calming him before trying again, she snapped at him and stuck the thermometer in his arm pit. She wasn't particularly personable in general but scorning my dog (or any dog) because they're uncomfortable with having a foreign object shoved into their ear is uncalled for. My boy loves everyone, he's a very happy go lucky dog and was excited and playful and the assistant completely disregarded that and behaved like she didn't want anything to do with him--he tried to engage her and she brushed him off. This is very rude behavior coming for a company where professionalism and compassion for the animal should be first and foremost. The other concern was that I explained to the vet that my boy was resisting the med--I was able to trick him the first few times but each subsequent time was more challenging as he's a great quick learner. I asked for an alternative that could be applied differently as I didn't think he would comply with additional applications of what she gave me--she told me to keep trying and she could prescribe the alternative if I continued to have difficulties. As I suspected, he no longer allowed me to apply the original med. So he received three applications, I think, but nothing additional after the follow up visit (which was kind of the point of scheduling a few days after the original urgent care visit, to get the alternative med she mentioned in the first visit). I know my dog, I fully respect him even when he's being stubborn about something that needs to be done--I'll find another way that doesn't bother him. But the vet removed that option even though I was willing to pay for the additional prescription--I mean, really, why not just listen to the owner/handler and prescribe a med that is less stressful to the dog? Lastly, I keep getting emails from them titled "How'd we do?" with a survey link that doesn't work--I've mentioned it to them previously but it's still not fixed or I would've just completed their survey and provided this feedback. read more

I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my English Bulldog and I received at Canyon Pet Hospital in Flagstaff. My dog is a very healthy English Bulldog with no history of medical issues. We took him camping up north at Happy Jack, and shortly after arriving, he began panting heavily. Initially, I thought it was just excitement from the new environment and tried to comfort him with water, walks, and treats. But as the hours passed, his breathing worsened alarmingly, and he started making strange choking or gagging sounds like he was struggling to breathe. Fearing for his life, my husband and I rushed him to the nearest emergency vet--Canyon Pet Hospital--about 30 minutes away. From the moment we arrived, the experience was shocking. Before any examination or treatment, they demanded an outrageous $525 upfront emergency fee. At that moment, I was terrified and not thinking about money, so I paid it. The assistant even announced over her radio "payment secured" like it was some transaction, not an emergency situation involving a living creature. Once my dog was taken back, I was left waiting in confusion and fear. Dr. Karin Sogarrd, the veterinarian, came out and said they had no idea what was wrong and couldn't perform X-rays or labs because of how distressed my dog was. She seemed suspicious about my dog's health history--implying I wasn't being truthful--and that felt like an accusation, adding insult to injury. A while later she pushed for a surgery called stenotic nares, which she admitted she wasn't even sure was necessary. She told me this surgery would help his breathing, but her uncertainty made me question everything. Dr. Sogarrd pressured me hard to leave my dog there for 3-4 days, including a holiday when the hospital would be closed. They gave me a nearly $6,000 estimate, which was completely overwhelming. When I asked what immediate treatments they were doing, they said oxygen, sedation, and anxiety meds. But why push an expensive surgery without a clear diagnosis? They scared me by saying my dog could die if I didn't consent, using guilt and fear to corner me into a decision I wasn't ready to make. After refusing the surgery, I was forced to sign paperwork declining the estimate and forced to sign an AMA (against medical advice) and was subjected to more pressure, including a horrifying statement that if my dog survived it would be "an act of God." This was traumatizing and utterly unprofessional. I just wanted my dog home where he was comfortable, not trapped in a scary hospital with strangers. They then insisted I pay the remaining balance for the medications before they would release my dog to me. Again, they made an announcement over their radio mic about "payment secured" before returning my dog. Once home, I watched him closely, and thankfully he improved significantly within two days as the meds wore off. This made it clear to me that the surgery they wanted was completely unnecessary and that they were trying to take advantage of my vulnerable state. Furthermore, they forgot to return my dog's leash and vest. I called since again, i live almost 3 hours away, and when I asked them to mail it back, they said yes--but I would have to pay over $50 for shipping and they can send me a link to secure payment! This is ridiculous and shows a complete lack of care or responsibility on their part. It felt like they were squeezing money out of me at every possible turn, even for something they forgot. Canyon Pet Hospital, and Dr. Karin Sogarrd in particular, showed zero compassion, pushed unnecessary treatments, and operated with a mindset that prioritized money over care. Their aggressive sales tactics and cold attitude during a critical emergency left me feeling exploited and traumatized. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) about their unprofessional conduct and unethical practices. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone. I have 5 parrots as seen on TikTok and YouTube channel Suzy the Cockatoo. Finding a quality avian vet is no easy task. I literally have driven 21 hours for an avian vet appointment. Canyon Pet Hospital has a knowledge avian vet who is not at all forceful with the birds. Her techs are knowledgeable. The facility is immaculate. The low costs were incomparable. I'm extremely happy to have found this animal hospital. I've decided to move onto a new pet hospital because there's no communication between the vets here, every time I go in I have to explain what's going on over and over and it's just getting old. My dog was in there for allergy issues causing lesions on his paws, and I had to keep coming back and every time I went back nobody knew what was going on and I had to explain it again. I've seen a minimum of three different vets just for this one issue . But the straw that broke the camel's back was when the most recent vet (vet # 3 or 4. I've lost count) said that they had to wrap his paw and extract something like a splinter, even though it was allergies, same as before, causing lesions on his paws, which I've explained several times, so they prescribed antibiotics for the imaginary splinter which I didn't actually give him because they were unnecessary, and more wasted unnecessary expense . CPH is without a doubt the most amazingly great hospital that I have taken our dog to. We took him to the ER on Saturday. They ran tons of tests. Diagnosed a tumor WHICH they removed on Sunday morning. Yes a Sunday morning. Removed a massive tumor. Took pictures of our dog post surgery and sent them to us. Called us every morning with updates. Texted us updates. We visited him 3 times a day and they were so accommodating. 5 stars is not enough stars for saving the life of our dog. I could go on but you get the picture. I'm so glad that we ignored the low reviews of this place. From the ladies on the phone, to the in person staff to two follow up appointments this place has definitely been top notch!!! My dog split her nail open and we called to ask about emergency services. We were offered to be put on the waitlist and they would text us when it was our turn. 3 hours later we received the text and off we went. The caring staff definitely put us at ease and they treated us and my girl with the utmost respect. We were offered different treatment options with varying price points. We opted for the one we felt best worked for us and a couple hours later we were home and our girl has been healing well. Today was our 2nd follow up and the same level of professionalism was presented. I would definitely recommend Canyon Pet Hospital to anyone needing services. read more

The most unhelpful vet I had ever visited. I took my dog here and the first visit was nice. It was just shots so there was nothing to go wrong. I came back 3 weeks later for her last visit of shots. She had gotten her booster around 12:40pm and I had dropped her off at home to run errands and go to classes. I came home around 4pm and came home to find her wobbling when she walked, spacing out, peeing uncontrollably and in extreme discomfort when being picked up. I called the vet to bring her back because I had assumed it was because of her booster shot. My first problem was the fact that the vet assistant tried persistently telling me that my dog was high. I am 19 and I live alone. I repeatedly said there was no possible way she could have gotten any form of THC in her system. She then proceeded to try and tell me she was probably high and got into something after I explicitly said there was quite literally no possible way. EVEN AFTER the drug test came back NEGATIVE they kept persisting she was high because THC can have "false negatives". After taking the drug test and the blood pressure exam, I didn't ask for the blood pressure exam, they came back and told me they had absolutely no idea what was wrong with her. They told me her symptoms didn't match up with the symptoms that the booster shot could have. After being charged nearly 270 dollars just for them to tell me they had no idea had me fed up with their services. I will be taking my fur baby somewhere else instead of some place that obviously doesn't care enough to help their patients. DO NOT take your pets here. DON'T GO HERE. Worst experience I've ever had, at any vet's office ever. They charged me a crap ton of money for what was ultimately a misdiagnosis. When I called to ask them to send my records somewhere else for a second opinion, they made me talk to a manager who tried to guilt me into staying with them and running even more (super expensive) tests. When I said no, they offered to refund me for part of my visit if I agreed to stay. I said no again, and the woman had the nerve to say that I 'must not love my dog very much' if I 'wasn't willing to get him t he help he needs.' I'm still trying to process the loss of my Boxer... my dog passed away on March 6th, I realize I'm mostly responsible for her death. But what upsets me and keeps flowing back into my mind and keeps me up at night, is... the chief medical officer had informed me that my dog was very sick and needed to be hospitalized. She knew immediately that it was due to pancreatitis and the prescribed medications for controlling seizures has a major effect on the pancreas, (she never said "acute). After I reviewed the bill, there was absolutely no explanation from the doctor of what was what on that bill, only a tech sent in to explain, I was completely numb! Probably not in Woobie's, or my best interest, I requested to 'out-patient' her. As I said before, I had every intention of leaving her at CPH for at least the evening or for additional treatment if required, prior to our arrival. I don't know what it was or what over came me, but something told me not to leave her there, some crazy reason.... Now I'm thinking.. What, leave her on cold steel or in a steel cold cage with the iv pump going, the smell of bleach and other animals barking all night? I wasn't thinking that at the time I was trying to figure out what to do in the vet office, in hindsight 20/20, I'm so aware now, super confused, thinking I allowed her to die. The funny thing is, nobody ever tells you, you, you must learn for yourself! Earlier this evening, I knew I had to transport her to the vet after she yelped on the couch, came over to my lap and put her head on it. This occurred one hour prior to bringing her to the vet that evening. What upsets me most is Dr. Miller shouldn't have not sent a vet tech into the room and show me a 'low/high' bill without explanation. Dr. Miller should have marched into my room and said, "hey mister, if you don't leave Woodie here she will certainly die! That's what 'acute' pancreatitis can do, over and over again, I had read so many articles, after the fact... it was mentioned on so many occasions, that if a dog has been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis they should not be treated, or attempt to treat this condition within an in-home environment. In hindsight. I believe that the medical Dr. (J. Miller) should have informed me how deadly the effects of acute pancreatitis attack can be, and that the probability of Woobs surviving if not being hospitalized may not happen! I read many articles throughout the Internet that consistently states that; if you attempt to try to administer proper health care at home, it won't work, your pet will be extremely dehydrated, my not be able to poop from a possible obstruction due to the inflammation of the pancreas and you will not know what to do while your dog declines and you may not realize it, simply put, your dog will die..., why wasn't I informed of this? I have to say... CPH has exceptional services. You can be on a wait list without an emergency charge. You can be on call for appointments outside of normal business hours, they are open 24/7, so no need to pick-up your pet at the end of the day, only to transport them to an emergency vet with additional charges. I truly believe CPH cares about providing the best care available. When it's time you bring your pet in, you more than likely will not be able to see the same vet that you saw maybe two weeks before. My most recent contact had let me in shock from what you had just told me or don't ever know what to truly believe, so with many providers will lead to diagnosis inconsistency. Late night emergency, they were open until midnight. I got my very sick dog in at 11:30 pm, they ran tests and provided medications for his relief. It took less than 2-hours to diagnose and treat my dog. The staff and Veterinarian were kind and professional. Office was clean and tidy. In my opinion the price was higher than expected. Full blood tests and organ tests were performed and two prescriptions (pain killer and NSAID) provided. Cost over $600. However my dog has recovered. read more

They all just stood behind the front desk staring as we walked out without my cat. My colleagues and friends all shared their nightmare experiences with Canyon when I shared mine. I am not going to explain in detail what happened to our puppy but my family had a horrific experience. It started from the minute we walked in the door. It was a very uncaring and not friendly environment. We were there on an emergency weekend situation. We were fully aware that there would be a bill much higher than normal, but we had no idea the extremity that they would quote to repair our dogs broken leg. On top of that our options were not very good. They painted a very bleak picture and future for our 6 month old puppy which you would not expect a caring facility to do. You would expect that there would be kind words and options. Had I had the foresight to do homework in advance and have a back up plan (vet for emergencies) then we wouldn't have been at the mercy of Canyon Pet and would have taken our sweet puppy out and go seek care elsewhere we probably would still have her. Please take the time to do your research before you visit this facility. We gave yall 1000$ to pull porcupine needles out of my puppies face, and when yall failed to finish the job your phone girl tried to suck more money out of us to finish it. Had to come back in on two separate occasions to pull the last ones out while she was awake, further traumatizing our puppy I hate to do this, Yall were kind and atleast didnt charge the extra and got them out, but we came to yall to do it less painfully she was asleep, not hold her down and pull death spikes out of her face, I could have done that myself. They didn't acknowledge Leptospirosis was in Flagstaff which lead them to mistreat his symptoms. Not only did we have to pay an outrageous bill for all the wrong treatments but our breeding program was crippled. We lost our award ​winning stud dog that we had invested thousand of hours and dollars into. We called several vets after his death and described his symptoms and all of them believed he had Leptospirosis. We were also informed about a vaccination that was available for Leptospirosis. W​e never knew about the vaccination because Canyon Pet didn't think Leptospirosis was a Flagstaff issue so they never advised us to get it.​ read more

They took care of Zooey (my dog) like she was a regular there- not a first timer. They quickly diagnosed her and even after we left they called to check in and see what questions I may have,. I let my beautiful Labradoodle, Yanavia, die because of negligence and poor judgment in the way I sought medical help for her. I have no one to blame but myself. Yanivia had canine disease requiring shots every 25 days. She also had bladder infections and other possible problems as she was nearly 14 years old. The seminarian workup on her identified other possible problems that would require diagnostic regimens. My ex- wife was in favor of putting her down rather than mitigating any problems. My finances are limited to a month social security payment. Her medical costs were in the hundreds of dollars and projected expenses were quite amount. One procedure and meds ran $600 as an option to a possible $800. When contacted to carryout the projected diagnostic work for Yani I reported that I would not want the work done because I had no money for such. My inappropriate stance and attitude delayed my approaching the veterinarians and I waited too for long her shot and Yani of a day was failing and could not get up. A neighbor helped me drag here in her bed to the car and I took her to the veterinarians. Yani was diagnosed for five different conditions, and had a fever also. It was over four hundred just for the hospital to take her in. The prognosis for one night was quoted $2700 $5000 for a week. The cost that day alone was $800 plus I frantically assessed where I could get funds and the vet staff attempted to get me a credit card where I could pay the $2700. The sudden futility of the situation forced me to accept that putting her down was my only option other taking her back home to die. This is the ABSOLUTE worse veterinary clinic I have ever encountered, and as a result of care, or lack thereof my daughter's pet has died, and she has suffered the worse pain in her life. If you would like to continue loving your pet, I would suggest that you find an alternative provider. My daughter took my 7-year-old granddaughter to this clinic because she was avoiding food, avoiding water, losing weight, had odd breath odor. When she first arrived, the veterinarian checked her urine, said she had a UTI and asked my daughter if she wanted to get labs. So, not knowing what to do she asked, "should I get labs" and the veterinarian said, "if you want them". What kind of care is that? That a veterinarian leaves the treatment plan to a patient's mother that has no true idea as to what is in the best interest of the patient. Secondly, they absolutely diagnosed my granddaughter with a UTI, discharged her on the VERY SAME ANTIBIOTIC SHE WAS BROUGHT IN TAKING and discharged her AFTER DOING NOTHING WITH THE "SUSPECTED" UTI. The veterinarian was in the room for a total of 3 minutes and left, irriated with any question being asked. Three minutes TOTAL for a dog that would die in 4 days time! But the clinical note states UTI with suspected kidney infection. This "suspected kidney" issue and lack of timely care most likely caused her death. My daughter was given antinausea medication and was instructed to call the clinic if her daughter started vomiting on the medication. Well, my daughter called at the front staff at 6:30 AM and was told to "call back at 8:00 AM and to keep the emergency line open". This clinic is genuinely the rudest people I have ever had to deal with. No compassion, no caring, ZERO treatment. The absolute only good thing I can say about Canyon Pet Hospital is a front office staff by the name of Linda who answered AFTER 8:00 am, to avoid jamming up the emergency line, to schedule her to come into the office for re-evaluation which I chose better than to make the same mistake and took her to Kaibab, where she received wonderful care, just not soon enough to avoid her death. I would truly schedule here CAUTIOUSLY and at your own risk. After all this drama and pain, I went to the facility to have my questions answered as to how this could happen and why wasn't I told that she had a kidney infection. They rounded me into a room, I was then moved to another room where I spoke with the office manager, she told me the records say "suspected' but did not provide a diagnosis. She then made the accusation that I had refused the lab and urine because of the $1,700 cost. Ok, well just so you know, I had to pay $6,889 for 48 hours at the emergency vet because Canyon Pet did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! So, the $1,700 was a drop in the bucket by the time all of the suffering caused to Phoebe was finally over. read more

I've had my pets looked at by several vets at other veterinary locations over the years and I can thankfully say I have ever had a bad experience anywhere but Canyon Pet Hospital has exceeded all expectations. Over last winter my old man started to have more complications including starting to have seizures up to 2-3 times a day, when I called his vet, they couldn't accommodate seeing him except for in about 3 weeks time and we couldn't wait. I called Canyon Vet and they were able to get us in that very day, the vet made sure to give us various medication to help with everything he was going through, had X-rays done to check on his heart murmur and over the next 3 months made sure to keep up on routine visits to make sure he was as comfortable as can be in his last few months. The team of assistants were always able to answer any questions for us or make sure someone was able to give us a call back. The day he passed, they gave us all the time we needed to be with him and hold him both before and after his passing and we could feel the love and care they had for my little bean. Even now, over 6 months later, when I was checking out from another visit with our other pup, he was mentioned and the girl at the desk said she remembered him and it makes me so happy knowing that they really cared and remember my baby boy. read more

I had $130 to my name and offered it all as well as follow up for my Friday payday. As devastation set in, I was told my options are take him home and hope he makes it till morning or euthanasia... I was SOBBING. On top of that they refuse to allow me to hold my pet during the euthanasia process. Luckily he didn't make it to the injection and passed in my arms. No compassion, no sympathy and honestly a money grab. Not EVER EVER taking another family member to die here because they are more interested in money up front. read more

I can't say enough good things about Canyon Pet Hospital. When it was time to say goodbye to my pup the whole staff was so wonderful and comforting; we had the most peaceful experience. The room we were in was beautiful and quiet, and we were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye. The care they take in returning pet ashes is incredible; I felt so loved and I know my sweet dog was taken care of in the best way possible. If I have another furry friend in the future I will be taking them to Canyon Pet for their every need! read more

Canyon Pet Hospital are focused on upselling you at least as much, if not more than, the well-being of your pets. We were given a wrong diagnosis, despite giving them the information that we've seen the condition before. They tried to sell us additional testing that would take 14 days to confirm or refute that diagnosis, and given a set of treatments which *worsened* the condition our dog had. It took a visit to our regular vet when we got home to begin getting things straightened out. Their response to our complaints was a lot of jawboning about how they really only want our dog to feel better, and arguments that the successful treatment by our regular vet can't be right. Our dog had a sore that not only wasn't healing, it seemed to be getting worse. We were at our cabin and had never needed a vet up her. I called Canyon Pet Hospital around 9pm and was amazed to have a person not only answer the phone, but also be able to schedule an appointment for us. Dr McEnaney gave Toby a thorough exam and was kind and caring. Luckily it was nothing serious and we were sent on our way with a bit of ointment. The fee was reasonable and they didn't try to do additional unnecessary tests. Canyon Pet and Dr McEnaney will be our go to vet in Flagstaff. Highly recommended. read more

Our dog has a neurological disorder. The nurse looked at him and charged $85 and said he needs a X-ray. We took him to another vet and said an X-ray would do anything. This is a neurological disorder from brain to back legs. 1 week later he is fully paralyzed from mid back to back legs, can't walk, can't poop other where he is lying. Asked if canton pet hospital can do euthanasia to stop the suffering. Canyon pet hospital require a full physical exam before that can take place. $250 to say "yea he can't walk". This town is all about freaking money. Unacceptable. read more

Had to make an emergency trip to the vet last night after our Golden swallowed a popsicle stick. She was well taken care of and came home in less than an hour. We were very pleased with the service and will definitely be going to Canyon Vet in the future. read more

If there was a zero star I would use it. Their system of receiving emergencies after 5 pm by putting your pet on a wait list is just a disrespectful way to make you believe you will be seen. They send a text saying your pet will be seen soon and when you get here they keep admitting other pets for surgery and after 3 hours still have the nerve to tell you that is up to you to wait or leave . Woman if my dog was not in excruciating pain and stress I would leave! Starting to look for another vet after this one! read more

My cats tail got degloved and I immediately brought him here. I couldn't have been any happier with the wonderful service provided by Reid, Mason, and Jordan. Pets are so important to each family and it gives me such piece of mind to know that there are such competent, sympathetic, amazing people taking care of them. God has really blessed this facility with so many people with wonderful gifts to make each person and animal feel welcomed and comfortable. Seriously, was sobbing my eyes out both times I had to bring my cat in and not once did they make me feel unimportant.
