Word on the street (Phoenix pet people) is that Dr Mac is amazing with dogs but slightly less so with cats. He diagnosed our cat with constipation, sent her home with just the invoice/receipt but no notes, and didn't do the blood test that quite easily identified diabetes until $800 and about 30 hours later. :( They very nicely called ahead to a pet hospital in Phoenix, as she needed critical care but that vet was in GILBERT and is the best but Most Expensive in the valley! Do NOT feel bad about going to a closer place instead that is more affordable. Last night, my husband said our little long hair dachshund was not feeling well. I carefully checked her and found out she had a puncture wound with skin tear under her right back leg. I left a message at our regular veterinarian office, explained the situation, & that Daisy was in pain. The next morning we called our veterinarian office again & left another detailed message. 10:00 am came and went and still no call from our veterinarian office. My husband was able to get a same day appointment with Midtown Vet. When he got there with Daisy, there was minimal wait time. Dr. Bellrichard was very professional, compassionate, caring and answered all my husband's questions. He left there with an antibiotic and pain meds. This at a very reasonable price. The best vet in Flagstaff, maybe in Arizona, hands down. We started coming to Midtown when we started fostering a malnourished dumped hunting dog, and our usual vet couldn't get us in for 4 weeks. Midtown squeezed us in within days, and thank god they did, because turns out she was pregnant and had a beautiful, healthy litter of 8 puppies only 2 weeks later. After several vet visits for the 8 pups' vaccines, we started switching our 3 older dogs' care to Midtown as well. All 4 of our furry kiddos ranging from 2 to 13 years now go to Midtown, and they always get nothing short of the best care. I've been taking my small dog here for over a year now. She always sees Dr. Holly. There's no other vet clinic I'd take her to. Everyone here is so friendly and caring. They care about your fur baby's health and they don't rush you during appointments. They show how much you matter to them and will go above and beyond for you. The perfect example, in my experience, is that someone discovered that my girl's microchip wasn't working. We got another one and they tested it to make sure it worked. I'm very thankful that they caught that! They also have great pricing for their services. It's definitely cheaper than other clinics I've been to in the area. They were there when my girl started having food allergies, which was a scary time for me because my girl has had to go to an emergency vet at least once. Everyone at Midtown was there with me every step of the way. The owner, Sam, even wrote a long email to me one time (as I have phone anxiety) with a ton of resources to help with emergency care in case my girl ever needed it again. I really appreciate her taking the time to do that, along with them just emailing me in general, as I have phone anxiety. This is the exact place you want to go to when your fur baby isn't feeling well because it's important to have a team that truly cares about you and your fur babies. We recently switched to Midtown after having a devastating experience at a different clinic in town. Three friends had recommended Dr. Mac to me, and I could not be more impressed with how he interacted with my dogs and his approach to their care. The staff was also amazing - they even "leap-frogged" towels across the floor to help my scaredy pit mix (who is afraid of tile floors) walk back to the exam room. Dr. Mac even put my older dog on a new anti-inflammatory for his arthritis, which has put a new spring in his step. And Dr. Mac explained how he encourages folks to buy meds and supplements online if they can because he is not out to make money on them. Beware!!! Bad veterinarian practice! They make a mistake and make you pay for it!! I took my 11 year old cocker spaniel to Midtown clinic to have her teeth cleaned and a have a couple mess removed. When I checked her in at 8:30am in the morning. The girl came out and said circle the mess you want removed. So, I circled the one on her left arm and I put an X on her right paw because she had two on her pad (the bottom of the paw) I wanted to removed. The girl that was checking me in put in the notes to check the bottom of the right paw, then circled it and put a star by it. I even went as far as making a joke about hearing horror stories about doctors taking off the wrong foot. She re-assured me that would not happen.. That they are in the notes and the doctors read the notes before they go into surgery... When I came back at 5:00 PM to pick up my dog up she was supposed to be done at 2:30, they had removed the wrong mass. I mentioned it to the doctor, who looked confused. I called back the next day to see what they where going to do about their mistake. The front desk lady told me the owner would call me the next day.. I never received a phone call. 14 days later I took my dog back in to have her stitches removed. So, I asked them what they were going to do to rectify the mistake they had made and they basically said "too bad" if you want them removed it will be $750 more. I already paid $1100 for the appointment. Their excuse was the girl that checked me in was the morning vet tech and the person that did the surgery was the afternoon that vet tech and they did not read the notes. So, I asked for $120 refund which was the cost of the mass removal or credit on my account for the next time I came in, because of their mistake. They absolutely refused to do that. She did say if it's any consolation we are changing our check in policies and we are sorry that it happened with your dog. Unfortunately "sorry" doesn't correct their mistake... This was a terrible experience, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Beware! read more

1 week ago on Friday October 27th I had an incident after posting a review regarding the experiences I was having with Midtown, at approximately 4:30 pm that day,my phone went crazy I received approximately 145 emails, text and phone calls...coincidence? or so I thought. I reached out to chewy when I did not receive my order by November 1st, I was told "Midtown called on Friday and canceled it" after having approved it that very same day. Doesn't seem much like a coincidence now? I paid for the heartguard exam and the 12 month prescription. I have been a client with Dr. Mac since 2017 apparently at some point new owners came in but no one was told. Once again the chewy pharmacist called Midtown and the prescription was approved again. Chewy felt bad regarding the difficulties I was having and gave me a 10% discount on my order. THAT IS HOW BUSINESS IS DONE! read more

I routinely go in to pickup my furry friends refill, as I like to go in to Midtown to look at all the pictures of furry friends on the wall. I was quite disappointed to see that my dogs picture (who had passed) was no longer on the wall (as quite a few of pictures had been removed). It had often given me a sense of peace seeing his picture there every time I went to pick up my remaining pets meds. It comforted me and made myself and family feel like family at Midtown and I was just very disappointed (as was my granddaughter) seeing his picture & some of our other favorite pictures of beloved pets gone. read more

I arrived to purchase but they refused to sell it without doing an exam of the dogs, even with a prescription from their vet in Phoenix. This is the best vet practice I've been to in a long time. I have a 4 y/o GSD and almost 6 month old Rottweiler. I can be a bit of a helicopter dog mom especially with the puppy and the staff is always kind and willing to answer any questions. Dr. Mac Kenzie is hands down the best veterinarian we've had in years. He takes time to sit with my dogs and just love on them and allow them to become comfortable with him and the environment, which I really appreciate since my GSD has major anxiety issues and the Rottie is still learning about the world. The clinic is fairly priced and very clean. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I am from Tucson and was vacationing in Kachina Village south of Flagstaff. While hiking with my small dog who was leashed, a large dog came running down the trail and attacked her. She had a gaping wound that I knew would require stitches. I started calling every vet in Flagstaff and no one could fit us in. I am not blaming the vet clinics in Flagstaff because I understand the pressure veterinarians are under since the pandemic when so many vets retired. What I want to do is thank profusely Midtown Animal Clinic for being willing to squeeze her in between appointments to suture her wound and provide antibiotics. Just moved to Flagstaff and decided to try this vet based on past reviews. Would 100% recommend. The doctor took care of each of my cats in a way that fit both of their personalities and needs. He was communicating everything he did as he did it and listened to everything that we told him regarding our pets and the care they needed! We were in a difficult situation with our Choc Lab, Charlie. He had been seen at a different location in Flagstaff. We had left several messages that Charlie was still in pain. We decided to research and take him to some one else. How Thankful we are that we found the staff and the very knowledgeable Dr. Mackenzie, at Midtown Animal Clinic. We found them to be very caring, and concerned. It is curb side, they came out and got Charlie, took him in for the exam. After the exam Dr. Mackenzie came out during a snow storm to talk with us and explained what his diagnosis was of Charlie . He offered some reasonable ideas. A few more ex rays were taken, and Dr. Mackenzie came out again with his iPad to show us what the results were. He gave us a course to follow with a referral for some rehab as well. Dr. Mackenzie is down to earth and explains things, so we had such a better understanding of how dogs react to pain, and how to continue on with Charlie's life so he can enjoy it even with his current challenges. read more

After a pretty devastating experience with a different local vet, this office went above and beyond today for my dog. I woke up to him not walking. Let's face it, that's usually bad news. After being quoted $691 at another office (without even seeing my dog), I called Dr. MacKenzies office. I was in tears. I just needed someone to look at my dog. I was fine with an exam fee. The front desk was the most conpassionate and sweet person on the phone. She assured me they could look at him and then proceed with plans of action.
