    Nose all healed up.

Friendly staff, helpful, and relatively inexpensive. My dog had acute dermatitis on her paw and nose which looked really bad and they got her fixed up.

I have had dogs and cats for 40 years and this is the best clinic I have been to. The veterinarians are extremely professional and knowledgeable as well as very gracious. We saw Dr Gable today and he is more than I could have asked for, he is kind, supportive and very thorough. The entire staff are equally as friendly and competent.

    The Raven is feeling better!

Our first visit with short notice after just moving to flag. Great people that made us feel welcome and genuinely care about their patient. They got us in quick due to an eye problem. Silly field dog! Thank you Aspen!

    Thor, RIP 2014-2024

Non-Compassionate Care; Inadequate Facilities/Equipment; Serious Lack of Attention and Follow-up to Your Pet's Needs; Owner-Medical Director (Dr Jesse Saul) Never Responded to Complaint/Concerns of Customer For the love of your pet, before visiting Aspen Veterinary Clinic we strongly urge you to consider our experience with our German Shepherd, Thor, which occurred from 7/1 to 7/3/24. This was documented in an unaddressed email to the Owner-Medical Director on 7/8/24. Below are bullet point highlights: 1. Thor had his annual wellness exam and vaccinations at his primary vet in Phoenix area on 6/26/24. All was normal though he was getting slower to rise from a prone position so RIMADYL (carprofen) was prescribed and Thor was reacting well. 2. Thor slipped, fell and hurt his right leg/hip late on 6/28 in excitement as we were loading up the car for a business trip to Flagstaff from 6/28 to 7/3. Thor continued to limp from the fall on 6/29 and into 6/30, and we had concerns the hip was dislocated. We called Aspen Veterinary Clinic and made an appointment for Monday, 7/1. 3. On 7/1, we were billed $519.40 for a physical exam, X-ray and prescription drug, Gabapentin. The practicing vet was Dr. Lesser who advised the X-ray did not show a dislocation of Thor's right hip, instead it showed he had arthritis of the rear hips and possibly lower spin. But Dr. Lesser also advised the X-ray showed two masses, one in his spleen and the other in his chest, and in order to determine the scope of this issue an abdominal ultrasound would need to be performed. We were advised to bring Thor back the following morning, 7/2 at 8:30am, and drop him off as they would squeeze him in. Note, we were staying only 10 minutes from the clinic. 4. On 7/2, Thor was led to a back room at 8:30am, crated and left unattended the majority of the day; we received zero phone updates and he wasn't even afforded a bathroom break according to staff. It wasn't until close to 2pm before the vet finally got around to him. We were asked to come in at 3pm to pick him up and discuss findings. We arrived to find Thor shaved and heavy drugged/sedated, and virtually unable to walk. Dr. Lesser shared some cloudy/grainy photos from the ultrasound of the two areas and was not able to offer any further insight, diagnosis or treatment plan. Thus, this was exactly the same situation as after the X-ray taken the day before. Dr. Lesser admitted their ultrasound machine was not working properly. She also admitted the masses were not causing him to limp, which was the reason Thor was brought in for care in the first place. We were charged another $538.73 and sent home. As I was lifting Thor into the back of our vehicle, I could hear significant cracking in his hind end of his bones/joints. This was not the case before the clinic crated him unnecessarily that day, again we were staying only 10 minutes away. 5. Later that evening of 7/2, Thor was crying and in terrible pain, and was never able to walk again. We called Aspen Veterinary Clinic at 8:22am on 7/3 for any kind of stronger pain med, and after waiting 8 hours (at 4:20pm) our request was denied. As 7/4 was a holiday, we were out of options. We sat with Thor all day and night on July 4 trying to give him comfort, but his pain was unbearable. Accordingly, we were left to have him euthanized at 8am on 7/5. We really cannot fathom how a diagnosis of arthritis can cause our beloved dog to become paralyzed over the course of only a few days, when on 6/26 at his annual checkup at our local vet he was given a virtual clean bill of health. Our feeling is Thor was not given the compassionate care and attention he deserved at Aspen Veterinary Clinic, but we certainly were billed for the experience. Thor's spirit and mobility never recovered from being caged almost all day on 7/2, before being drugged, shaved, and given a faulty abdominal ultrasound. In hindsight, knowing we would only have a few more days with Thor, we would have never put him through what he had to endure that day! And, then the cruelty of having our request for a stronger prescription drug denied at the onset of a major holiday and after having us wait all day, unimaginable!

While stopping over in Flagstaff on my move across the country, my mare managed to slip in the snow and bonk her head on the horse trailer, resulting in a nice gash on her head. I called Aspen Vet Clinic first thing Monday morning and explained the situation, the front desk staff was compassionate and offered an appointment for me that morning. The facilities are beautiful and very clean, incredibly friendly staff, and very fair pricing. Dr. Gabelt was awesome and did a great job with my mare. Overall highly recommend! Thanks for taking great care of my girl!

we have gone to Aspen Veterinary Clinic since Conley Westover opened it. we have had two dogs with Diabetes and given shots every day. we just lost our Lucy (registered Mini Australian Shepherd) last night. when we were in for a December checkup to get our insulin refilled, we saw Dr. Dickinson. We told he that Lucy was old and we were just maintaining her. Lucy was blind and scared to death of the vet office so she shook the entire time we were in there. Dr. Dickinson wanted to do bloodwork and teeth work - which about killed Lucy the last time they put her under for teeth. We told them that we didn't want her upset and didn't want any work done. It was Conley Westover who told me to trust my gut when it came to what to do. The last time we went in, they told us they wouldn't refill the insulin any more after that bottle without doing the bloodwork. Lucy passed away last night at home and at peace, and my gut was right. These new veterinarians need to understand that it is not all about the expensive tests and money. Sometimes, it is about listening to the people that know their animals. (BTW, it wasn't about the money with us. We paid them over $10,000 when Dr. Dennis operated on my stallion).

Aspen Veterinary Clinic is great. I was taking my pets to canyon pet hospital but they "lost" one of his puppy vaccine appts and couldn't get me in for another 2 weeks. I called aspen they had availability. Very clean and a great group of vets and staff. Plan on staying with them

Over last winter my old man started to have more complications including starting to have seizures up to 2-3 times a day, when I called his vet, they couldn't accommodate seeing him except for in about 3 weeks time and we couldn't wait. I called Canyon Vet and they were able to get us in that very day, the vet made sure to give us various medication to help with everything he was going through, had X-rays done to check on his heart murmur and over the next 3 months made sure to keep up on routine visits to make sure he was as comfortable as can be in his last few months. The team of assistants were always able to answer any questions for us or make sure someone was able to give us a call back. The day he passed, they gave us all the time we needed to be with him and hold him both before and after his passing and we could feel the love and care they had for my little bean. Even now, over 6 months later, when I was checking out from another visit with our other pup, he was mentioned and the girl at the desk said she remembered him and it makes me so happy knowing that they really cared and remember my baby boy.

If you want good, quality, and THOROUGH veterinary care you're going to have to pay for it anyway. I hear great things about all the vets that work here, but so far I've only had experience with Dr. Romans. She is wonderful. She doesn't rush you in and out of the office like some vets do. She takes the time to thoroughly and comprehensively examine the problem and come up with a feasible treatment plan. She really seems to know her stuff and I trust her 100%. She's also very patient with difficult animals, and approaches them in a very relaxed manner that they seem to respond well to. All the staff at this practice are great though and I would recommend these guys to anyone - they all seem to genuinely love animals, and care about their well-being. They have been treating my family's animals for a long time now, but today they cleaned my dogs teeth for the first time. My little dog, Tali, has trauma from the last time she was at the vet (no fault of the other vets, but she was super sick, and so now she gets very anxious anytime we walk into a clinic). Highland house calls was patient with her, and I really felt they treated her as one of their own. But what truly made Highland Housecalls stand out for me was their nonjudgmental attitude. Sometimes, when you go into a walk-in veterinarians office, you can leave feeling very guilty- asking yourself "Why didn't I get her teeth cleaned sooner?" Or "How could I have missed that mole?" and even "Do they think I'm a bad pet parent? Am I a bad pet parent?". But Highland Housecalls had me asking none of those questions. They understood that we were doing our best juggling life and taking care of our pets, and that is important to me. I think if more veterinarians were as kind and nonjudgmental as Highland Housecalls, more people would feel comfortable taking their animals to the vet more often. 10/10 for everything they do!!!
