Reference: I am a Registered Nurse. I sought treatment with Dr. Madlock - for consultation only - to discuss treatment options for lower jaw pain/possible jaw infection. I waited 1.5+ hours to see him, for this and all f/u appointments to see him. He stated Friday 2/21/20 at 4pm the tooth had to come out immediately and I had to decide in that moment if I wanted an implant because it had to be done during this immediate tooth extraction. He provided reasons to have an implant placed. I was not given time to evaluate my options, just provided a swift treatment $$ plan which ended up costing me $4144 out of pocket and another $2150 to have the improperly placed implant removed by a competent oral surgeon = $6294 for nothing more than a tooth extraction in the end. The implant was placed on a nerve b/c the implant was too long. Dr. Madlock talks incessantly with multiple stories of his superior education, experience and success allowing him to go on lavish ski vacations with his family to Aspen and others. ***My new, competent, oral surgeon called Dr. Madlock with the results of the failed integrity test of his implant and said a refund was in order. He said Dr. Madlock agreed to give me a refund which was reassuring. I have contacted Dr. Madlock's office 7 times by phone, once via certified mail and twice via email to both the office and his personal Gmail account he provided me when things weren't going well. The last request I put in for a refund was 11/28/23. NO REFUND. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE - NO ETHICS, NO RESPONSIBILITY TAKEN WHEN HE MAKES A MISTAKE - WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. *** I am a medical professional. We take an oath to "Do No Harm". He does not abide by this oath and I am filing a complaint with the Colorado Dental Board after I have posted this error to all the social media outlets I can find to prevent others from having a similar ultimately traumatic dental experience. Please, for your own health and welfare, do not become a patient under Dr. Madlock's care. He does not care about his patients, only his wallet. read more

I saw Dr. Madlock for lower jaw surgery and it went so well! He made me feel comfortable and was extremely knowledgable. I felt safe and comfortable. I had such a good experience, I brought my son to get his wisdom teeth removed. Which also went so much better than expected. I will confidently refer my family and friends to him. I was expecting a very sore mouth and pain after having my 4 wisdom teeth removed. I was very pleasantly surprised how painless this turned out to be! Many acquaintances remarked how awful this procedure would be and expressed their concerns. Dr. Madlock and his team performed the extractions with the utmost of care and professionalism. That same day, I never had to take more than a couple of Ibuprofen tablets for very minor discomfort and woke this next day to a pain free mouth. Dr. Madlock is a lifesaver... literally and figuratively. I was his last appointment late on a recent Friday afternoon & he hadn't seen me before so he didn't know what he'd be dealing with. I had an abscessed tooth & gum area that already had a crown on it that was replaced just 8 months ago. My intuition told me that since the little nub of a tooth that was remaining had a cavity filled & the old crown replaced just last fall... that this abscessed tooth probably wasn't salvageable. Dr. M and his team took excellent care of me & stayed late to do it! He took one look at my bilateral knee replacements and knew that I needed antibiotics before anything was done to my tooth. Even though the knee replacements were 10 years old, he was still concerned about infection reaching my knee area, explaining that artificial joints were like a magnet for infections. After taking a 3D x-ray and consulting with me, he told me that tooth wasn't savable & recommended (as I expected) removing it that afternoon. They needed to wait a little while for the antibiotics to get into my system and then removed the crown and the tooth. As expected, I had a little swelling in that area and was sore for a couple of days but it all went well and healed perfectly. And I was pleasantly surprised that my insurance covered most of the expense of that treatment. I was really impressed with the level of care and treatment I received from Dr. Madlock and his entire team and greatly appreciated them staying late to take care of me. Dr Madlock was negative the minute I walked in. He made me quit my arthritis medication which is dangerous. He made me feel like I was a problem to him. The office was incompetent and didn't get the clearance from my rheumatologist that the dentist wanted. I didn't feel welcome or comfortable at his office. I was forced to find a different dentist. The new dentist I found is also an MD and he said it was more dangerous to stop my medication for the oral surgery than stay on it. Dr Madlock is a dangerous dentist to see if you have any autoimmune problems. He caused me months of misery without my medication and more arthritic damage. All I can say is I would not recommend him to anyone. read more

I had Dr. Madlock perform double jaw surgery on me, and it was the worst experience in my life. I developed an infection in my jaw shortly after the surgery and repeatedly expressed my concerns about the amount of pain I was having. He ignored my concerns for several weeks until there was green pus coming out of the incision in my mouth. By this point, the infection had already moved into my bone and began making me incredibly sick. I was taken to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital. When Dr. Madlock was informed of my condition (osteomyelitis), he disagreed with the diagnosis that I was given by three separate doctors. At this point, I didn't trust him and had to pay several thousand dollars to a new surgeon to care for me. My new surgeon informed me that not only had the infection entered my bone but it had also killed part of my bone (osteonecrosis) and had to be removed from my lower jaw. I had to have five separate surgeries in four months and now have permanent nerve damage on the lower half of my face resulting from his procedure. Dr. Madlock is not only condescending and rude, but he is not capable of acknowledging/diagnosing issues that may occur after his procedures. This man should not be a doctor, and is a danger to all of his patients. read more

Don't bother wasting your time, they've decided not to accept medical insurance anymore. I was referred to Dr. Madlock by my orthodontist but was frustrated to hear that they've decided not to accept insurance anymore so unless you're extremely wealthy look for alternatives. read more

Today my daughter had two impacted teeth removed. She's only 9 and was pretty scared to go in. They took the very best care of her. Between Dr. Madlock and Dr. Shearer I know that our daughter is getting the very best care as she goes down this road of getting her mouth and teeth into shape. Thanks a ton. read more

Very impressed with this practice. Runs on time, beautiful environment, friendly and efficient staff, and Dr. Madlock couldn't have had more attention to detail and doing things right with my diabetic son's wisdom-teeth extraction procedure. Highly recommend. My eldest child had this procedure done at another practice in Denver, and this time round was *much* better. No problems with this practice accepting my insurance--and not many practices do accept my insurance (United HC medical) for this procedure. read more

I was referred to Dr. Madlock by my dentist 2 years ago. I can honestly say that I have never been treated more poorly by another human being. I have put off writing my review because I wanted to make sure that I could be fair in my review and not overly emotional. I was initially told that Dr. Madlock would not see me because I had medicaid but my dentist called and got me in. When Dr. Madlock came in to talk to me about my extraction he immediately told me that as a female I would not look attractive with a hole in my mouth (which he repeated several times). I told him that I would love to have an implant but could not afford it at this time. I was extremely grateful that he was willing to see me under the circumstances so I just let these comments slide. When I went in for the extraction he did not say "hello" or acknowledge me, instead he said "it makes me sick to pull out a tooth on someone this age and not replace it" and when the operation was finished he said "I recommend you get a crown on that last molar because the filling is huge and it is going to crack just like the other tooth" (knowing full well that this would not be covered under my insurance either and on a side note my regular dentist said the filling was fine). I got no directions as to what I needed to be aware of during the healing process, nothing else was said to me. After I left the office I had a stitch that was really big and started to experience more pain than I assumed was normal. Because my experience with Dr. Madlock had been so negative I went to my regular dentist who told me that I had dry socket and needed to call Dr. Madlock. I put off calling him because my experience up until this point had been so bad. I ended up going back in to see him and he told me that I had dry socket and needed a different antibiotic because the antibiotic I was on was not addressing the infection that had flared up. I went home and was leaving for a trip the next day so I realized that I probably needed to check up with him before I left on my trip. When I called his office I was told to text him, I did and at this point I received a phone call from Dr. Madlock. He thought that I was one of his assistants with a similar name so he went off about "this nutjob patient....." for several minutes. When he stopped talking I told him that he was talking to that patient. He immediately started to (for the first time since I'd seen him) act very concerned and address my concerns and said he thought I should come in and see him before I go on my trip, etc. I got off the phone with him and was in complete shock. He texted me twice before I sat down and wrote him a letter explaining how the entire experience had made me feel, I went over every step and the hurt that he had caused me. He responded by apologizing and saying that I am "a wonderful person" (which I could not take seriously seeing as how I had been treated) and that the charity he works with could help me get the implant I needed. I could not bring myself to show my face in his office again and did my follow up care at my regular dentist's office. I can honestly say that I had never and have never been treated so poorly by another human being (especially in the medical field). The entire experience was horrible. I have seen some good reviews for Dr. Madlock and am convinced that if he thinks you are worth his time then you will get good care, but if you don't meet his standards (whatever they may be) or don't have the money for an expensive operation then you will be treated as though you are a complete waste of his time. I was beyond disappointed with the care I got and the entire experience made me lose a little faith in humanity. It also made me question how genuine Dr. Madlock's charitable work (which he advertises on the front desk) truly is. I hope that since I saw him he has learned to care about his patients rather than just the money that they put in his pocket. read more

Absolutely fantastic! I am nineteen years old and recently went in for the extraction of my wisdom teeth. As for quality is concerned, it was exceptional to say the least, though, what makes canyon point fantastic? The staff, without question. The receptionists are not only helpful but immensely kind. Surprisingly, the quality of service received from Dr.Maddlock far overshadowed any amount of service I could have expected. After the extraction of my teeth later in the day I received a call from Dr.Maddlock's personal number calling in to make sure everything was operating as it should, and it was! Though, that's not the impressive part. A little over a week from the extraction, and mere days from a checkup, I felt an unusual protrusion from my chin and upon a little research found that I may have an infection that came up quite quickly. So, Saturday night, I decided to call Dr.Maddlock to see where his views on the idea rest. Mind you, this particular location is closed on Saturdays. He was concerned and set up an appointment to see me at 9:30 PM (just after I get off work) that night! If that doesn't just scream "Holy cow, this is the coolest oral surgeon on the fave of this planet." Then you are wrong. If I could give a six star, I, without question, would. read more

I'm a person of a 'certain age' and have experienced a number of dental specialists. I have to say, of all these experiences, Dr. Matlock stands out. He's passionate about the profession, has a terrific 'chair side' manner and meticulous in his approach and execution. Staff is also friendly, professional and caring. What also impresses me is that it seems that he and his staff treat each other with dignity and respect which creates a real team atmosphere. You couldn't find a staff more professional, technically up to date or more concerned about the success of your visit. read more

Dr. Madlock and his staff were very kind, and his office is definitely state-of-the-art. Unfortunately, I can't say a whole lot else was positive about my experience with Dr. Madock. I went in for a consultation for my impacted wisdom teeth, as my previous oral surgeon could not do the sedative surgery. When I went into his office, he almost immediately said that I would require extensive oral surgery, which would not only take a couple years of work but also cost thousands of dollars. I've never, EVER heard anything like this from any of my previous dentists, who have all said I have great teeth. I've never even had to have braces! Suddenly, Dr. Madlock is now telling me that almost my entire jaw has to be restructured. Now, time for the actual consultation. After taking the x-rays and such, Dr. Madlock tells me that my wisdom teeth will be incredibly difficult to get out, and there'd be the high possibility of nerve damage, meaning that I'd have limited feeling in my lips and tongue. Afterwards, he gave me the estimate for the extraction, which was over $4500! Unfortunately, as a college student, there's no possible way that I could have afforded that, even with my dental insurance program. As was suggested by a friend of mine, I went to get a free consultation at the local Comfort Dental. They had no idea what he was talking about, and felt that my wisdom teeth would be no trouble to remove. 2 days later, they're out with no troubles, and costed about 1/4 what Dr. Madlock quoted me. While I can't speak for the quality of Dr. Madlock's work, I can safely say that I don't think I'll ever go back. read more

For starters, I have gone to quite a few dental locations with my mom (because of language barriers) for implants and we ended up loving it here at Canyon Point. The staff were very welcoming right when we walked in the door and Dr. Madlock is a very competent physician that we felt very safe with. Dr. Madlock, was very professional and informative. He took his time with us, answering all our questions and concern about the two implants my mom needed. He was honest and didn't sugar coat things, which, I appreciate. We felt very taken care of because he never rushed us through the consultation or any of the follow up appointments. We felt like his pricing was very fair, especially for the quality of care we received. Personally, I would come here in the future for my own oral needs because I was so happy with how everything went from beginning to end for my mom. I easily recommend Dr. Madlock to anyone who needs any oral work done. read more

These guys are really great. We had a run of bad luck with surgery needed to remove an extra tooth, which went great, and then a baseball to the face and a broken bone above the two front teeth. Dr. Madlock and his wife welcomed us into their office at 8pm to put on a brace to support the teeth. Even after my son broke the brace they welcomed us back in to repair it. Dr. Madlock is as good as it gets. Years ago he fixed my jaw with a Christmas-time surgery. He and his family visited me in the hospital and took great care of me. His work is excellent and now, 5 years later, I'm still a satisfied patient! Great guy, wonderful work. read more
