I hadn't been to the dentist in four years (yikes!), but instead of chastising me, both Shauna (hygienist) and Dr.

Some things and people are right with this place, but too much that's apt to go wrong. First visit,…read moreand perhaps a bit after, you get the star/good treatment. After that, I saw several things go downhill, from how some of them talk to you, to quality of cleaning job (trainee?), to even willingness to provide reminder cards. Have never seen a dental office become such a struggle for routine service (or talk to you like you work for them). Lesson learned: don't take chances on a new place without referral from a patient who has been with them at least two years.

Dr. Burchfield has ruined my tooth! I came in for a simple cleaning, then asked about a night…read moreguard, sine my family doctor indicated I may be grinding my teeth at night. First, they took a mold of my teeth, which was very painful. It put a lot of pressure on the teeth when they pulled it out. I was back a couple days later with extreme sensitivity in my two front teeth (veneers). I was given some gel to put on it, and told that it was probably a bit of cement that came loose, exposing a sensitive area on my tooth. It did get better, so I waited for my night guard. When it came in, I went in to pick it up and tried it on. I immediately winced and explained that it was putting a lot of pressure on my front teeth. I was concerned that it was going to break off my veneer. However, Dr. Burchfield insisted that it fit correctly, and that it would not hurt my teeth. He said it was just in my head and I was saying non-truths. He told me to where it for a week, and I would get used to it. Less than a week later, I finally stopped wearing it, as it was hurting my teeth way too bad. After some of the pain subsided, I felt like I could move my front tooth with my tongue. Sure enough, I looked in the mirror and it was wiggling. I called immediately to make an appointment to see him again. He checked the tooth, and said that the veneer was fine and not loose. He did acknowledge though that my tooth was loose, and said that this was normal. NORMAL?! My tooth was not loose before you made me wear this mis-fit night guard that I told you was putting extreme pressure on my front teeth, and now one of them are loose and you think that's just normal? He said that was just my opinion. I demanded a refund for the night guard, that he wanted to try and remake, and said I would be seeing another dentist for a second opinion. The day I got the fitting I also had X-rays, so I'm curious to see the difference from then until now (after wearing the night guard). While he did refund me the $175, that doesn't come close to making it right. I now have a loose tooth! From what I understand, that will be permanent, and the only resolution would be to pull it and get an implant. Otherwise, I'll have a wiggly tooth that is likely more susceptible to infection. I wish I had never gotten a mouth guard, and that I had never trusted Dr. Burchfield. I understand people make mistakes, but he won't acknowledge his and make it right, and I have to suffer for it.

First and Last... I…read morewas gravely disappointed in their lack of providing me with a thorough evaluation as promised. I went in thinking I had a cavity and was told I would have a full appointment to not only see how they could help with the pain, but also give me my annual check up. I didn't get the full evaluation because "they didn't have time." I left in pain and was given a very, very aggressive oral surgical plan requiring a dental implant, major oral surgery, six months of healing time, a "flipper" (fake tooth) for my missing tooth that would take six months to recover before said implant could be put in. Having never had any oral issues in my life, I was crying my eyes out and left terrified and very confused. I didn't even know what was wrong because it wasn't explained to me. They took three x-rays and referred me to a "Surgical Artist" on the other side of town. Told me to make an appointment and they would see me after that... Before I could even ask questions, I was looking at around $6K out of pocket because jeez, I just used all my insurance coverage on the three x-rays they took... for the YEAR. No, no payment plans here. But, in the office, they had a fireplace, a Keurig machine with multiple choices, a refrigerator, a large screen TV to stream Netflix... but no, no payment plans available. I don't know too many people that walk around with $6K in their pockets. I was encouraged by a good friend to get a second opinion and I did. THANK GOODNESS. Not only did the other Dentist see me immediately, they didn't even charge me for my visit and they took 6 x-rays, spent about 1 hour looking at possibilities and had me at their Endodontist within an hour for a root canal. I avoided an unnecessary and very expensive surgery by going to a practice where they actually care about their patients and take their time to find the right solutions. I walked out with my problem fixed within a few hours, a payment plan and a Dentist that I will see for the rest of my life, as well as, refer to everyone I know.

Dr. Richard is a very sweet lady with great chairside manner. Unfortunately, her bizarre policies…read morehave made me too irritated to continue to go here. I called to cancel an appointment on a Tuesday morning at 9am due to an unforeseen issue that I couldn't help or avoid. My appointment wasn't until Thursday at 1:15pm. I rescheduled the appointment and the receptionist said "Please keep in mind we have a 48 hour cancellation policy for which you'll be charged". Tuesday morning to Thursday afternoon is more than 48 hours doing my math... I asked what she was talking about. Since they're usually closed on Wednesday's that day is exempt from the policy. So, if you have anything come up last minute, you still have to pay them - you're getting penalized for having a life because they only work four days a week. I also found it suspicious that I haven't had a cavity for 29 years of my life and when I started seeing her I had to get 4 fillings. At the following 6 month appointment I had another 4. It's not like I've gone a long time between seeing dentists - I just had to find a location that was more convenient and found her through my Delta Dental Insurance. Does it seem odd to anyone else that I got 8 cavities in a year though my dental hygiene practices haven't changed? Long story short I would NOT recommend this dental office.

Dr. Wachuta and Dr. Heilman are wonderful dentists. I…read morethought I would have to have all of my wisdom teeth pulled because of cavities on my back two wisdom teeth. At 63, I don't believe that I needed to have them removed as was previously suggested to me by a prior dentist. Dr. Wachuta assured me that they could definitely fill these cavities instead of retract the teeth. Dr. Heilman did an outstanding and painless procedure that included 4 cavaties. He explained each step of the process which was very reassuring.

Gentle Smiles did three fillings and a crown. The tooth with the crown became infected shortly…read moreafter the crown was put on and required a root canal, which was performed by an endodontist. There was a large gap between the crown and the adjacent tooth, which collected food. When I had my teeth cleaned at another dentist a few months later, the hygienist said that she felt sorry for me having to put up with that crown. Shortly thereafter, one of the three fillings fell out. Then I had x-rays done at a different dentist and found that the area that was ground out of a tooth was not filled completely, requiring replacement of the filling. In summary, root canal on the crown and replacement of two of three fillings. In all fairness, I can't blame Dr. Wachuta because most of the work was performed by girls in his office.
