EVERYTHING was amazing on our 8-day motor trip. From booking to camping, I would do it again in a heartbeat! This company has been doing river trips since the late 1930's. They explained all the rules and insisted everyone follow them, NO EXCEPTIONS. The food was great, the guides were knowledgeable, and we got to see so much. The music was also great. Just got off the Colorado River after a full Grand Canyon motorized trip. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was over the top excellent. This company truly cares about their customers' experience which is evident in the attention given to all details. The meals were efficiently and tastily prepared, using many organic ingredients. Nice firm cots were greatly appreciated. The crew were readily available for all needs and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Crew leader JayJay was an exceptional guide and took no frivolous chances, making sure to scout big water rapids for possible changes due to water level fluctuations. I have to mention that the canyon knowledge these crew members shared was fascinating and the story telling was riveting! Lisa, the Botanist was an added bonus that taught us much about the canyon flora. She was so passionate and enthusiastic about the subject that even my "non-interested" husband got caught up in identifying plants. The Grand Canyon of course speaks for itself and will take your breath away over and over again. read more

Just hopped off the boat 8 days on the river with guides Kolby, Kendall, Ryan and Kirsten. Unbelievable crew and unbelievable trip. I can't even begin to speak on all their qualities. Compassionate, supportive, humorous and so knowledgeable about the history of the canyon and geology of it. And on top of that, they sure can maneuver those big rafts through some really awesome rapids. Guided day hikes to the most beautiful slot canyons and waterfalls. Every time I was unsure of where to go or if I could make it one of our wonderful crew members would pop up right by my side offering support and a helping hand. I never felt scared because I knew they we're always watching to make sure we all stayed safe and had the best experience. My son and I did the one week motorized trip a few weeks ago and had a great time. Canyoneers took care of all the details, including all the new Covid-related stuff. Spectacular scenery, not just on the Colorado River but side trips as well. The crew was friendly and hard-working. The rafts are big and designed to absorb a lot of the energy from the rapids. You'll get wet but you won't fall in. Its a great way for families to unplug in the summer and enjoy one of Earth's great natural wonders. read more

While the trip is a smashing once in a life-time experience, sadly the poor customer service by management is lacking. Not the same Canyoneers from years gone by (was recommended by friends that did this 20 years ago with same company). The trip back to the South Rim after coming off the river was a disaster with a rude driver from CEIBA (a subcontractor to Canyoneers) who yelled at my 13 year old son until he was shaking. "DO something! Don't just stand there!" My son did nothing wrong; this was more how the driver chose to manage his own anxiety. Inappropriate to yell at a child. Driver was pulling a small trailer through the GC Village when I asked him to pull up a few extra feet on the main road to assist our drop off. The driver went ballistic! (Odd, since he had even turned into the parking lot to accommodate the previous family!). When I sent feedback to Joy (President, Canyoneers) about the incident, she didn't reply for over 2 weeks but then had already sent the my email to her river guides for them to sort through without attempting to understand the real concerns of the client (us). To add insult to injury, once she responded (through the prodding of one of the guides!), she took no ownership for the unacceptable behavior of the subcontractor van driver. CEIBA adventures of Flagstaff......avoid them too! My issue was really to help them get better but they responded very unprofessionally. Sad to say this is the oldest running outfit in the canyon but they don't really care about the full experience and seem to put the burden of customer relations back to their guides. These guides are 20-30 year old young adults who trying to keep you safe, not manage the office drama. Check out Hatch or one of the others before you sign up here! read more

We stumbled onto a trip with Canyoneers through a website called Advantage Grand Canyon. We only had a specific timeline that we could go and we got placed with Canyoneers. We had no idea how lucky we were. Having gone down the river and seeing all the other boats, I feel really blessed to have gotten to travel with Canyoneers. Our boat crew were incredible. Thank you Justin, Jason, Will and Jay Jay. The Canyon itself it breath taking at every turn and all your guide services will show you this. However, Canyoneers boats are just superior and our four crew members were unbelievable. Given the comfort of the boat, the food, and the different hiking options at each stop, I can comfortably say that anyone, young or old can do this trip. I'll never forget this trip and I'll definitely be back for another trip with Canyoneers!! read more

Last week was my second trip of a lifetime rafting the full length of the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River! This trip was extra special because it included the Skylight City String Quartet who performed their music in nature's concert halls. I hear that they have been invited to do another trip in August 2019. If you like string quartet music, book that trip! You won't be disappointed! You'll get all the awesomeness of Canyoneers (oldest river guiding company, great food I gained 5 pounds, knowledgeable awesome guides, Chris, Erin, and Scott), the Grand Canyon, side canyons with waterfalls, and Great music! I'm an active 74 year old with a bad knee that did all the side canyon hiking activities, but on my first trip 11 years ago they totally accommodated a 74 year old not so active grandmother. I HIGHLY recommend Canyoneers and the Skylight City String Quartet! read more

I have and will recommend this trip to everyone. I did the 3 day rafting and camping and then hike out from the base of the Grand Canyon. From the views of nature to the guides to the food to the company, everything exceeded my expectations beyond belief. The guides are so friendly and funny and knowledgable about the national park. Will and Leo and Kolby and Travis made the trip what it was for sure. The hikes and the camping and the river rafting itself are so enjoyable. The food was excessively good--if you would have told me that I was going to have steak, salmon, and pesto pasta while enjoying the most incredible view of stars and the milky way all while on a beach within the Grand Canyon beside the Colorado River, I would have never believed you. But the Canyoneers trip was unbelievable. Showers and beds are overrated anyway. You even get a real toilet. On the campsite! Sarah was the guide to hike us out from Phantom Ranch. We only spent 12 hours with her but it felt we'd known her forever by the time we separated. The biggest take away you should gather from me is to go. Now. You won't regret it. read more

I have now done the trip twice (both with Canyoneers for the full 7 days) and every moment in the canyon is absolutely incredible. The guides are funny, accommodating and very knowledgable of the canyons history and geology. When I say accommodating, I last did the trip with my uncle who uses a wheel chair; they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe and having the best time. The food is top notch, I ate better on this trip than I do at home. Thank you again to Jason, Will, Jay Jay and Scott for making the trip such a fantastic week. It is truly humbling and awe inspiring to get to visit such a place. 7 day full river trip from Lees Ferry to Pearce Ferry on a motorized boat. Had a fantastic trip and was very lucky to have three exceptional guides: Ethan, Omar, and Justin. We were lucky to have great weather and an unusually small group on this trip, making it very comfortable. I could not imagine doing the trip with a full booking, I think it would have changed the experience dramatically. The overall marketing, web-site, and packaging could use some updates. I took a 4-day motorized raft (upper canyon) and hiking (from Phantom Ranch to rim) trip with Canyoneers in June. The American southwest was in the midst of a record-breaking heat wave, but other than that, the trip was perfect. The boat guides were wonderful. They were completely capable in managing the boats; their organization skills, both on and off the boats, were superb. The boats were packed in a manner that the Navy would admire. The boats were wonderful, with two articulated joints that eased the stress on the rapids. The rapids were exciting enough and you could sit in the front or the rear of the boat to get more or less wet. The meals were excellent - prime rib, salmon steaks ... Every possible detail for the clients' comfort was dealt with perfectly. Our hike out was also the responsibility of a Canyoneers guide. Because of the extreme heat, she required us to leave Phantom Ranch at midnight - a very wise decision. She carried water, medical supplies, and food and electrolyte supplements and helped us throughout the hike. All in all, a perfect experience. I would recommend avoiding the very hottest months if possible, but don't miss this trip. read more

We just got off a 7 day full trip. This was the best experience we have ever had, and I know it is because we chose Canyoneers as our guide. Brandon and Kolby did everything they could to accommodate all the dynamics of our group. They made everyone comfortable with camping, going to the bathroom, and riding class 10 rapids in the canyon while keeping the stories and humor flowing like the river. We saw other companies and the way they camp, ride on the boat, and visit side attractions, and I think we had the best of it all with Canyoneers! We were always the first on the river and often times had the hikes and waterfalls to ourselves. They had wet and mostly dry seating options for those who didn't want to stay soaked for 6 days. The food was so good and you can't beat the stories and history you learn. I would highly recommend you request to be on a boat with Brandon or Kolby! If you can't do the 7 day, the lower portion would be the next best trip. That is where all the side trips and best rapids are at. We will be back on a boat next year! read more
