Went on the recommendation from a gas station clerk, she mentioned Gordan Ramsey had visited (or something). I picked up a 3 piece fried trout basket which came with slaw and fries. Everything is fresh!! They get the fish from the fish market behind them so you know you're eating a fresh catch then the bread and fry it while you're waiting. The batter was super thin and tasty. My 7 year old couldn't get enough! Turns out Gordan Ramsey stopped here after his producers had and then ended up filming a segment called "Michigan's Yooper Cuisine," on his show "Unchartered". Pretty cool tidbit of information.

Hot & Fresh! This food truck may be tucked away heading out of town, but is a must stop. The fish is caught daily out on Lake Superior, processed by the Matson family, then brought to their food truck for you to enjoy. Due to winds they didn't have any trout since fishing was cancelled that day. So that meant double whitefish in the Cap's Basket, and the whitefish was delicious. Thin breading, flaky, and piping hot. Every order is cooked to order and the fries too. The coleslaw is crunchy with the perfect amount of acid to balance out the creaminess. The fish sandwich was the perfect ratio fish to bun. The homemade tartar sauce is the perfect accompaniment and doesn't over power the fish. Seating is outside only to plan accordingly. Between the freshness of the food, the service, and the price point I Highly recommend!

DELICIOUS! We walked 1.5 miles from downtown Munising to visit Cap'n Ron's Fish and Chips. I'd done some research about the best fish and chips in the area and saw rave reviews about this place so of course we had to check it out! They're only open seasonally and we came at the end of September so we were lucky to catch them while they were still here. They're a bit hidden on the side of the road but Apple/Google maps will take you right there! Service was friendly, I think we'd gotten there right before the lunch rush so no one was inside the truck when we got there but they were super speedy once they saw we were waiting. The fish itself was delicious, I've never had smoked fish before but it was tender and really did melt in your mouth. I saw some reviews that things were too greasy but I didn't find that to be true at all. The homemade tartar sauce was sooooo good like seriously the best tartar sauce I've ever had and definitely took the fish to another level. It was a beautiful day and the picnic seating was great to take in the sun and enjoy a nice summer/fall day!

Great service, very friendly. My husband and I both chose the trout sandwich with french fries. The fish was absolutely delicious! It was exactly what you'd want, flaky and flavorful. It was lightly breaded, very minimal. The owner said this is the best trout sandwich you'll have, and we agree! It was! 10/10. Highly recommend.

This place is just amazing! The food was so good, we came here three times. The service was friendly & fast. There's picnic benches for outdoor seating & beautiful Lake Superior is right in the back. We had an amazing trip to Munising, & Cap'n Ron's made our food choices one less worry. If ever in the area, we are definitely coming back.

This was the BEST whitefish I've ever had, no contest. It's a little food truck tucked away in Munising, with a small store and smokehouse - I highly recommend the smoked whitefish dip, I literally ate the whole container in one sitting haha There's nothing better than sitting on a picnic table in the sunshine with a delicious pile of fresh fish in front of you :)

Excellent white fish! Melts in your mouth! Cooked fresh every time! (And the smoked fish down at the nearby shop is good too)

Best fish and chips I had so far! Cap'n Ron's is a food truck with a few tables in front and located on the side of the road. Nothing fancy but the fish is fresh and delicious. A must try after your trip to Pictured Rocks. FYI, they only take cash.

This place is amazing, not only was it very affordable compared to literally every other business…read morein this town. $10 for a burger here, where the other restaurants your paying close to $20, and besides the West Bay diner the other places were not even that good, I would say this place has the best burger in town, and is by far the most affordable. If I were to rate all the businesses in town by the Burger this would be the order. (future reviews coming) 1. Fired Up!!! food truck -Amazing Western Burger so good. Everything was great! 2. West Bay Diner-Smash burger super good! And so friendly!! :) Get a malt!---mmmm 3. Lake Superior Brewing Company, Big ass burger, with lots of fries and toppings. The bacon was off thou :(-Place is to busy, staff was arguing amongst themselves, poor management. 4. The break wall- literally zero taste but way way way to expensive, and potato chips with no other choices, Blah premade crap. Place was empty, couldn't tell it was a restaurant or a gift shop or what-seems confused like they are trying to hard. 5. The GM Tavern, tasted like it was a frozen patty on a soggy bun. Nothing here was good. Service was terrible. Half the staff sat at the end of the bar talking to themselves while customers appeared annoyed. Only plus. AC. Back to Fired Up!! I can not say enough good things about this place thou, every time we went here, the wait was not that long even when busy, the counter person was very friendly and informative and all the food was super good. OMG the breakfast burrito could feed a small village. WOW! The gkids loved the donuts!!! This town needs more food trucks! That is the way of every major metro area, something about food trucks they know whats up!!!

There's not a lot of food options in Grand Marais, MI. We woke up this morning (more like almost…read morenoon) looking for something to eat. We wanted breakfast but by the time we stumbled upon this food truck it had already stopped serving breakfast (11am) and switched to lunch. It was parked on the side of the road behind the Bayshore Market downtown. The owners are really nice, and the menu is huge. Prices are a little steep, but with limited options, you don't have much choice (and they know that). We each got a burger, cut them in half, so we could each try a different kind. The BBQ Bacon burger and the Swiss onion burger were the choices, with a side of cheese fries. Each burger was just shy of $10, for just the burger. The fries were $8 for a small paper tray of them. Over all everything was good. We were hungry. The BBQ Bacon burger was better than the Swiss onion, in my opinion. The bland cheese on the bland fries was like yellow soup that just made them soggy. They weren't seasoned or salted or anything. They were cooked perfectly as were the burgers. We didn't get drinks, so our two burgers and the soggy fries we shared was about $30 total. Seemed like I've said this a lot lately, but even this place wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't bad!! It's just not anything more than over priced food truck grub that served its purpose. I walked away full. Thanks

So crispy they could double as Olympic gymnastic rings (if you could stop eating them long enough to try). The vibes are right up my alley.. there's a shaggy shepherd "watch dog" who clearly runs the place from his post on the deck. Don't be fooled, he's not just there for security... he's making sure you don't drop any fries. The person who took our order was hilarious! 10/10 would let her roast me while handing over my food again. The Lions game was playing next door and we were able to watch while still eating outside. If you're looking for good food, good laughs, and a side of doggy cuteness, this is the spot.

I love hotdogs and like to think of myself as an expert. I will drive hundreds of miles just to try one. In this instance, I drove 200 miles round trip, just to try Toby's Windy City ( Chicago dog ). Also ordered was a chili dog for my friend and tour guide and a plain, no bun dog for my friends dog, which there was no charge for! My friend and his dog gobbled theirs right down! Me, I was trying to get my phone to work so I could take pictures. No luck with that . Anyway, I would call my Chicago dog exceptional with just a few things needing to be done. 1. Toast that bun! It keeps it from getting soggy. Mine totally fell apart with the first bite. 2. It was on a regular bun not poppy seed. Maybe that's why it was called a Windy City dog 3. The dog could have been a bit hotter for me, I like mine well done. With those few things, I would still have to say that Toby's Dog House, is in for another visit from me!
