We recently stayed at Disney's Newport Bay Club and this was one of the locations where our complimentary breakfast was served. Thus, this review will only cover the breakfast, but they do serve a dinner buffet for about 32 euro.
A breakfast buffet is complimentary with your stay at Disney's Newport Bay. I was not expecting this as I live near Walt Disney World and breakfast buffet cost about $32 here. The meal was described as continental breakfast, but it was more than that. Yes, as one would expect in France there is a large selection of different breads from croissants, to brioche, to baguettes. The croissants weren't bad, but the bread was mass produced and not the best bread I had in France, though that is a mighty high bar to achieve.
There is also a selection of cereals, about 5 including Special K, frosted flakes, chocolate flakes, and miel which appeared to be some sort of puff, plus a more granola style cereal. There was also a selection of yogurts, meats, and cheeses. All of this seems pretty standard for breakfast in my European travels.
However, what made this breakfast special and so delightful for me, was the more typical American breakfast items, bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and potatoes. The scrambled eggs were very good, perhaps a tad softer than I would like, but so buttery. The flavor reminded me of the buttered eggs my mom used to serve me when I was a little girl, so with every bite I was transformed back to my childhood.
The sausage was made from veal. It was link style sausage. It was good, but I would've liked it a bit warmer. This is of course the problem with buffets.
The bacon was excellent. It was a thick slice with a nice smokey flavor. I didn't really care for the potatoes. They were very thickly sliced, but my mother enjoyed them. The pancakes were good, but France is the land of crepes, so why even waste my time with a pancake. Now, if there had been Mickey waffles, that would've been a different story.
No breakfast would be complete without a beverage. Each morning cold apple, orange, and grapefruit juice were available. There were also a wide selection of hot beverages from machines that included tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and more.
All in all a very nice breakfast selection, and more than I expected from what was described as continental. read more
