Lovely outdoor café at Ile Saint Louis, Paris. They have amazing escargot. You must not miss the special of the house, Moules Frites, a.k.a. mussel steamers with fries. They were the best I've ever had, and the serving size was quite generous. Would not hesitate to return. read more

My sister and I stopped by La Chaumiere after strolling about Paris on a very warm evening. She was wanting a crepe (and to use the toilet) so we grabbed a seat and relaxed after a long day of traveling. I was full from dinner, but sorbet sounded both refreshing and tasty... my dessert stomach still had room ha. I went with two scoops of the raspberry sorbet, which hit the spot! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. And the portion size was also bigger than expected. I shared with my sister, as her Nutella crepe was on the smaller end of the spectrum. She did enjoy her dessert as well. The location is great for people watching, and it's not too busy in the way of vehicles. Our waiter was friendly, no complaints there! Overall a pleasant experience. (Prices were as expected for the location.) Note: There was a pesky yellow jacket (wasp) at one point, which I hope hasn't been harassing anyone else! read more

I stopped by this cute bistro for some coffee and dessert. It has outside and inside seating just across the bridge from Notre Dame. There happened to be a street performer playing french music nearby with his accordion which was a nice touch. I ordered a Cafe Americano and Creme Brulee. The coffee was as you would expect and was about 3 Euros. The Creme Brulee was excellent. It was about 7 Euros which wasn't bad considering a lot of other restaurants in Paris charge close to 12 Euros. The only downside is there is only one bathroom for both men and women and ironically there was a line. read more

My husband and I came here out of desperation. Having already walked all around Paris and then to two other restaurants we wanted to have dinner at (both were closed), we opted to sit outside at La Chaumiere because we were tired and hungry. I'm usually skeptical of restaurants that have pretty views on a tourist street (I'm more of a finding a hidden gem type of girl), so I had pretty low expectations here. My hubbie and I are vegetarians so we tried the ravioli app (which was actually pretty decent) and the awful penne with watered down sauce. One of the best things about traveling for me is trying delicious food in a new city. I would skip this and try for a place with better food which may not have a beautiful view of the bridge. read more

Upon arrival to Paris, while staying on Isle St.Louis, this restaurant was one of four on the corner before the next island where the Notre Dame cathedral is located. We chose this one and decided to sit outside. There were many people coming and going so it made for great people watching. The service was great despite the large tourist crowd. It was, however, a Friday night so we expected crowds. We ordered off the prix fix menu and the food came pretty quickly. With a glass of wine in hand, we were able to really enjoy our meal. I had the escargot, which came with 12, and the salmon and for dessert creme brûlée. Everything was delicious and all for only €18.50 which included tax and tip already. It was a steal! My friend had the french onion soup, goat cheese salad and crepe Suzzette. The crepe was with orange creme and was just ok (we both prefer Nutella). While eating, a bumble bee decided it would join us and we couldn't get it to leave us alone. The wait staff came out to help. Pretty soon we had three of them surrounding our table while we watched from a distance. One guy tried to grab it with his bare hand! In the end they gladly moved us under their awning, but still outside. We had a great experience despite the bee, but thanks to the staff for helping us! read more

We didn't dine here but we came in for a quick drink while strolling the neighborhood. There are three other cafes all within meters of each other but we chose this one because it was cute, less crowded and had a sign for Vin chaud for €6,50. We walked in to the enclosed outdoor patio and was greeted by an upbeat and friendly French waiter. We asked if we can sit in the outdoor patio area just for drinks because apparently you have to option to be seated indoors in a nicer area if you want to order food. Even though it was a chilly day, the enclosed patio has heaters running to keep the patrons nice and warm. The patio is a perfect spot for people watching! Not all waiters here speak English, we had 1 that helped us who did not speak English and had to grab another to help translate. But they were all very friendly and helpful. The beau and I ordered the vin chaud (hot wine) which is made with fruit and cinnamon. Basically like a warm sangria which is perfect for a cold day! It was sooooooo good I wanted to order another! The menu items were all decently priced here. Perhaps it's just the lunch menu...but it's certainly not 3€€€ signs like it is listed here. read more

We recently had a lovely dinner for two at La Chaumiere. Our server was attentive and the food was fantastic. We purchased their dinner meal (choice of appetizer, entree, and a desert). My husband had the escargot, which he very much enjoyed. I tasted a couple and they were good, but not the typical butter, garlic and white wine version I was expecting. I had the French Onion Soup which was the best I have ever had, the penne with mushrooms, and the hot apple tart. We highly recommend this wonderful little restaurant! read more

Recommend? YES! Atmosphere is folksy, friendly, welcoming, romantic. Lovely French atmosphere and makes you feel apart of the people. I ordered Cheese Ravioli, Beef Stew, Chocolate Cake for 18.50 euros. I'm expecting cheesy goodness, beefy feelings, and chocolate envelopment. UPDATE: The cheese ravioli is soft and rich in cheese. Not hot, not cold--right in the middle where the tongue can savor all the cheese. The beef stew is juicy and flavorful--the meat is tender, the potatoes are soft, and together they smoothly satisfy the stomach. The chocolate cake is superb. Lunch here was my first and only course meal my three days in Paris, so I don't have anything to compare it with, but I thought it was awesome. €18 for little (goat?) cheese raviolis in a nice buttery sauce, roasted salmon with delicious mashed potatoes and some sort of whipped carrots, served on spinach - it was flavorful and well-presented; dessert was delicieux creme brûlée. My husband was too full for dessert after his beautiful French onion soup and potato bacon gratin, and they let him take an apple tart to go. I could see that the waiter was annoyed at some other tables with tourist couples who took too long to order, even though it wasn't busy at all. We ourselves were really smiley though, and I guess weren't expecting much from the service; rather were just happy to have some really good food. I can see how maybe if it were crowded and you really took your time ordering if you might get some attitude. Maybe the waiters need free drinks or more breaks while they're working or a meditation course or something, to calm them down. Also, we asked for une carafe d'eau, but it wasn't very cold and the bottle looked dirty...Just a small point, but easy enough to improve upon. Anyway, we liked it! Merci beaucoup! read more

We dined in La Chaumiere last year, the manager was very nice as he was this time. I enjoyed the coq au vin @ that time. We went back the other day, what a disappointment! The waitress was awful! She was rude & completely inattentive! I ordered a glass of Bordeaux ,she brought me a glass of wine that probably had been opened days ago because it tasted awful. She brought me a new glass & said they opened a new bottle & she was not going to change it again in a nasty way! It wasn't necessary for her to say that, she never came back again which was fine with me! The Coq au vin was almost inedible it was so fat & disgusting, I'm not even sure it was chicken, & frankly, I don't want to know!!! Nous avons dîné à La Chaumière l'année dernière, le responsable était très gentil comme il l'était cette fois-ci. J'ai eu un super coq au vin à cette époque. Nous sommes rentrés l'autre jour, quelle déception! La serveuse était affreuse! Elle était impolie et complètement inattentive! We were a group of four, just looking for a quick pit stop from lots of walking, so we stopped at the outdoor cafe part of this restaurant. There was adequate seating, however the server, for whatever reason, made a couple that was already seated and served *move* two tables over just so that our group could sit slightly closer together. This was not at all necessary and tried to stop her from doing it, but the damage was done. Highly embarrassing for us and the other couple were noticeably upset as well. Only two of us ordered beverages; the other two weren't thirsty. Almost immediately after ordering the manager came out and quite rudely asked why there were only two orders for a party of four, and that he was "losing money" by letting two of us sit without buying anything. His point was valid, but I can think of at least ten different ways he could have put it in nicer terms. I would have gladly stood up to make room for paying customers, but our friend decided to pay for two more teas that went un-drunk. This was the worst customer service I've experienced in Paris. read more

I'll keep this review short because I don't have much to say about it. Basically, we came here because the prices were not too high, but the food was not very good to say the least. We wound up getting some escargots which came without the shells and lacked good flavor and texture. The duck that we wound up getting was actually recommended by the waiter, but it was dry and relatively unappetizing. Finally, for dessert, we got a creme brulee which tasted more like pudding than a custard and was definitely not the best. Overall, it was not a great experience and I definitely wouldn't come back. read more

March 2017, our last day of our 10 day stay in Paris. My wife & daughter decided to have lunch here after souvineer shopping and were not disappointed. We were lucky to be seated outside. Had lunch and very pleased with everything! From the food to the service could not complain. We each had the 3 course meal for 18 euros. The onion soup was large and filling. Beef bourgunion exquisite. The chocolate cake was to die for. The service....what can I say.....our waiter was so attentive and very polite. My wife dropped her fork & he was very quik to replace it. At the end when we left he was standing outside & he said to us 'Enjoy your journey'. What a lovely touch to end our meal. I would highly recommend to dine here. read more

My wife and I dined here our first night in Paris. We noticed and asked for the small table in the corner which the server happily gave us once he made sure we were having dinner and not just drinks. Understandable they would save the better tables for diners. We each ordered off the three course plat menu, with my wife starting with a very tasty ricotta and spinach ravioli in a light flavorful sauce with diced tomatoes. It was so good, she would have been happy to have just that for dinner. My starter was a goat cheese, tomato and pesto "turnover", served hot with vinaigrette dressed greens. It was light, but very tasty. For second courses, my wife chose the coq au vin, while I chose the boeuf bourignon. Both of them were "falling off the bone" tender with delicious sauces. I thought both the chicken and the beef could have benefited from a little more salt, but since individual tastes vary I understand leaving it under seasoned. You can always add salt, but you can't take it out. We both finished with the apple tart and would probably order it again. A perfect meal at a fair price, with a great location that was only a short walk from our hotel. read more

We came here to enjoy a final meal after several days in Paris. Lovely location and food was good. We each enjoyed the 3 course meal. I had salad, grilled chicken and ice cream, all delicious. My spouse enjoyed his mussels and creme brûlée. At the end we used a card and the waiter said something about the tip. We thought he was saying the total automatically included the tip, because the menu clearly says "service compris". No, he took it upon himself to give himself an extra 15%. We felt taken advantage of, and didn't appreciate it. Really put a damper on the meal. Be a savvy tourist and be more observant than me. read more

Let me tell you Paris is expensive mostly to eat. This place is amazing, great service, tasty food and good prices. With 18 euros you get an appetizer, main meal and a dessert and there is a lot to choose from. If you like pasta you MUST try the cheese ravioli (that's an appetizer) delicious. Also you can just ask for tap water which is clean here so you don't spend 4 plus euros in a bottle of water. ENJOY! read more

Friendly and attentive staff answered all our questions and was prompt. Onion soup was average with croutons and melted cheese. Needed a little salt to my preference. Salmon fillet was good and served with chopped carrots. Coq au vin (chicken) was surprisingly dry despite being served with a decent sauce - were they cooked separately?
