The place is so minimal, no one could possibly believe how bad this place is. The rooms smell of mold, affecting our breathing. The floor was dirty, my white socks were black on the bottoms after walking a few minutes on the floor. The place is incredibly outdated. They should be ashamed of themselves for renting these dirty rooms without correcting the mold issue. They try to cover the mold issue with room deodorizer. The health department should shut them down. The owners have had this property for 30 plus years, sad they have neglected this property for all these years. I caution people to not stay there if they don't want to be exposed to mold. I have since learned there are many other nice places with better accommodations! read more

3.5 stars. we stayed here when we came for my son's graduation. decent, comfortable place. the front desk was really nice. they obviously cater to USCG families. my only 2 'complaints'. the cleaning service didn't come until we called late I the afternoon the mattresses were a little uncomfortable. but it is close to everything and they do support the USCG families passing thru i would stay here if ever in the area again. nice sunset from the room balcony read more

It's just ok, not worth the price of the stay. A/C didn't work properly, drain in shower was not secure and was metal so could've cut my daughters feet, dirt came out of the faucet when I first turned it on, TV remote didn't work, room is the smallest ever. In general the room was clean. When we left I forgot some things in the bathroom and I started calling as soon as I realized it, which was maybe 20 minutes later - called 8 times and nobody would answer the phone so I could let them know we were driving back to get the stuff. Although this place was clean and the amenities were nice, we had some serious issues and concerns with the completely awful customer service we encountered here. Namely two individuals who were so dumb they probably wouldn't know if their own ass caught on fire. TONY AND CRYSTAL - talk about dumb and dumber, they lacked basic common sense and any semblance of human intelligence. These two monkeys managed to fumble every single aspect of our reservation, failed to rectify anything, and refused to apologize for their utter incompetence. After lots of misses in the Cape May and Wildwood area my daughter and I became regulars at the Cape Harbor. We stay a couple times each summer and have always been very pleased with our stays. Tony, the second generation owner is truly a gracious host..we have become friends with most of the staff and we are completely satisfied with the cheerful and friendly attitude we have experienced. I don't know why it shows 4 and a half stars when I google this inn!??!!! I just stayed there last Sat. Night!!!!!! And it was awful!!! Bed was ok! Standard room is so so so small! Room is smelly! Very smelly! I couldn't sleep well because of that! It seems the AC is too dirty and dusty, both myself and my husband got allergy! Like I got itchy rash on my face! My husband kept sneezing!!!!! Wifi is a joke! ! Very thin wall! So u could hear the other people 's talk if they were talking outside! Oh, plus, the bathroom is dirty! The toilet has yellow stain which is so discusting!!!!! And when we checked in, there were no shampoo and conditioner, we had to go to he office and ask for it........ If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in Cape May last minute this is basically the best thing you could ever hope for. Their property is not located on the beachfront- however, they do have a pool, they also have a great attitude and decent looking rooms. This is not a fancy place, and the price is not fancy either. But if you are looking for a functional, cost effective place to stay in Cape May, that doesn't have a minimum night requirement, look no further. I stayed here recently because my brother was getting married and I didn't want to worry about traveling after drinking at the wedding. The receptionist when I made my reservation was friendly and attentive. The rates were very reasonable for off season- some 40-60 bucks cheaper than the closest 'beachfront' hotel. The room was clean, though not modern at all. The room only had a shower, no tub. Honestly, I wasn't looking for something fancy, just functional to lay my head at night. This place more than met my expectations, and I was happy to stay here and support a local smaller inn than one of the big names in CM. Definitely if you are at a loss for a place to stay, this is a good choice for so many reasons. Just keep in mind what I've been stressing, it's functional- not fancy, and if you are a low key traveler- this will work for you. read more

Fabulous place to stay!! I found this place by accident when looking for a placed to stay for the "day", wanted early check in but would be gone by the late evening. This was one of the only places that would accommodate so that is where we stayed. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, not pushy or rushed, from my first call I was impressed. When I arrived, I found the front desk staff to be very friendly, laid back and inviting. All the other staff I encountered on grounds were also friendly and always with a smile and a "hi". The rooms are clean and fresh and the windows actually open!!! No need for AC on a beautiful evening, they also have small table and chairs outside each room to sit if you want. The room was stocked, the refrigerator was clean and ready for use. The pool is sparkling and all the furniture at the poolside is clean and in excellent condition. Very impressed with Cape Harbor, look forward to going again and hopefully for an extended stay. read more

My daughter and I just came back from the Cape Harbor Motor in. The staff is very friendly. The rooms were very clean. It's probably about a mile straight down to the beach on Pittsburgh. Our friends were staying right on the beach and we were able to find free parking on residential streets around the corner. I plan on a return visit and recommend this property. The fridge in the room is the size of 2 cube refrigerators like you'd bring to college. Wawa .4 mi away for your coffee fix. read more

Very clean rooms! Even the air conditioner filter was cleaned ! Typical size for a motor inn/ motel. Except that we got a full size bed instead of a queen. No king size beds on premises. Friendly and helpful staff when available. No frills establishment. I would stay here again. read more

My husband and I stayed at this motel because we needed a place to stay at the last minute. Since it was July, any rooms we might find in Cape May would be crazy expensive. The Cape Harbor Motor Inn is extremely reasonable compared to other places in the area during the summer. We arrived at the motel around 9:30 in the evening and had a little trouble locating anyone to check us in. Finally my husband banged really hard on the office door and a man came running around from the back of the motel to give us our key. He was very friendly but it seemed strange that it was so hard to get someone. Perhaps he lives in one of the rooms of the motel that are far from the office. When we got to the room, our first impression was #1 clean and #2 bare bones. Waaaaay bare bones! That was ok because we were there just to sleep, right? but let me say there was very little in the way of furniture or decoration. As I mentioned, we were there to sleep- and that's where the trouble started. Just sitting on the bed made the mattress - yes, the mattress, not the bed frame or springs - make a huge squeaking groaning noise. I bounce up and down a little just to see if this could really be true. Yes, it was true and I anticipated a noise-filled night if we so much as rolled over in our sleep. There was very little rolling over to be done. My mattress was so old that there was a deep indentation (I was calling it a "ditch") that prevented me from moving around very much. The mattress was soft from age, noisy, and worn to the point where it should be thrown away. I woke up several times during the night because I was so uncomfortable. The next morning I felt like a zombie. Internet access? Forget about it. S-l-o-w to the point of non-existing. I didn't use the tiny little shower and just wanted to get some coffee (no, they don't supply coffee) and get on my way. Summary: clean, safe, inexpensive. Also devoid of practically any comfort such as a decent mattress or a well functioning tv remote. Think long and hard about how much you need a place to stay before booking a room here. I don't care how desperate I might be in the future, I won't be back. read more

We just arrived at 8:30pm. My fault that it was booked last minute. The price was right and the write-up on booking.com was exceptional but definitely not totally truthful. The room is about 15ft x 20 ft. It is small and it has an old, noisy queen sized mattress. The room windows were open so it was hot when we walked in. The air conditioner works and cooled the room within 10 minutes. There is a refrigerator in the room and a coffee maker with a clean, unused filter in it but no coffee grinds to brew. The coffee mugs are a good size but you can only drink hot filtered water! There is a bar sink on the counter also. There is a 3ft round table with two chairs and yellow plastic flowers in a vase with blue pebbles. If you're wanting a roof over your head this place is for you. Be sure to bring coffee grinds, shampoo, and conditioner. A good thing - The mini fridge is a good size and there is a hair dryer in the bathroom. This should be renting for 149.00 or less. With it being summer and the New Jersey motel tax this room cost $199. I've learned my lesson...don't trust booking.com nor Trivago.com that uses booking.com to book last minutes plans. We rented two rooms for two nights to attend a wedding. The motel exceeded our expectations. The rooms were small, but exceptionally clean. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom is small and quite cramped, but again, it was very clean. The through-the-wall AC unit was very, very loud. One room had clothes hangers; other other did not. The staff were very cheerful friendly and accommodating. If you're looking for a clean place to stay without paying for a lot of frills, this is the place. There is no restaurant on the property or within walking distance. There is only one vending machine on the property (drinks only), and it was not working. One of our rooms had a coffee maker; the other did not. Sugar was available, but no cream or creamer of any type. So if you want a meal or snacks, you have to get in the car and head out. Housekeeping services were very good. I would classify it as a "budget motel". It worked well for us. But if you're looking for a facility with a restaurant, a raft vending machines, large rooms, saunas, etc. then you'll have to look elsewhere and dig a lot deeper in your wallet! read more

Like Mary S. indicates, a last resort option. I'll list the positives first: Room was clean. Mary, at the front desk was really sweet and made every effort to be helpful. First of all, I should mention that the motel is a good 10+ LONG blocks to the beach, and if you want free parking, you have to park at least 3-5 blocks from the beach. It's also a good mile- maybe mile and a half to Washington Street Mall or the strip of beach-front restaurants. We rented bikes ($25/each for 2 1/2 days at Shields), as they do have a bike rack at the motel, and CM is an excellent biking town, but sometimes, even that was exhausting. Just so you know... Now for the bad news: On our 2nd night, I woke up at 1am with food-poisoning. Chills, aches and a need for the bathroom. Luckily, for all concerned, by 4am, the stomach upset started to calm down...just as the TOILET CLOGGED!!!! I tried to call the front desk, no answer, no machine. Tried going to the office, it was locked up tight and no hours on the door or emergency # to call. Tried knocking, then banging on that door and two other doors marked "Private" (but there were welcome mats at the doors, so we thought maybe that's where the proprietors were living)...no answer. We tried calling/knocking several times...all the while praying the sickness would keep quiet so as not to have to use the backed-up toilet. (Of course no plunger in the room!!). We even called the police to see if they had an emergency # to contact the owners...NOTHING! FINALLY, at 6:15am, I called for the 50th time and a groggy voice answered...somewhat irritated that I woke her up as, for some random reason I couldn't hear, "She herself had only gotten like 2 hrs of sleep"...like that's my problem. She sent some guy over with the plunger and WE did the plumbing. Still feeling sick and unsure if I could enjoy our stay (we had one more night to go), I asked if they would make an exception on their refund policy to check out a day early. I pointed out that had SOMEONE BEEN AVAILABLE right when the clog happened, I might have been able to get some sleep and feel better enough to stay, but they were not moved to even give us any discount (for plumbing work done/tremendous inconvenience), much less grant a refund. We decided to just stay...even though I was sort of dragging myself around...at least the weather was beautiful....WHATEVER! Also, unless a mini-fridge and hairdryer are enough to rock your world...there are NO ammenities: NO shampoo/lotion/etc., coffee maker, continental breakfast or coffee served; the remote for the TV was crap, the AC was permenantely aimed directly at our heads, no closet, no full length mirror, no privacy curtains (so it was either pitch-black in the room or totally exposed to the whole pool/parking lot), there weren't even any pictures on the walls!! All I can say is NEVER AGAIN!!!! (And if you HAVE to stay here, bring your own toilet plunger!) read more

My major complaint with this motel is that I was charged for two nights, even though I only stayed one night. The proprietor, Mary, told me they had a two night minimum. Yes, the very small room was clean and comfortable, but when you factor in that I paid double the price for the value I received, I could've stayed in a more luxurious place, closer to the beach. There were no amenities and when I requested a cot for the room, I was told that they do not have any. The 2-night policy is a rip-off, not even sure if it's legal to charge for services not received. It takes advantage of consumers who are booking a week to a few days ahead and have minimal choices, patrons who booked earlier were not subject to this scam. read more

For the price, you get what you pay for, right? My kids loved the pool but my wife and I found that it was in much need of a good skimming. At one point, I found a clump of hair wrapped around my hand while wading in the pool mid day. There were all kinds of dead bugs floating about and that remained comsistent for the 3 days we stayed. While the room was clean, inexpensive and quaint, we found there was zero comfort. The beds were hard, pillows stiff and to sit and watch TV in the other room, forget about it. We had a kitchenette in the room, which was helpful for boiling water for tea and having a fridge was also a plus! We found there were a lot of flies in our room. I would recommend fly tape or something to control this, as we were buzzed by flies while eating and sleeping constantly. The issue seemed to be that the maids leave the doors open while turning the room, which lets them all in. The source seemed to be the trash dumpster behind the facility, which also attracted some feline friends that I saw several times while there. In all, the price met our budget. If all we wanted to do was sleep, I wouldn't think about any of the other "stuff". However, for more than $600 for 3 nights, comfort is a big deal. Unfortunately, comfort was hard to find here. read more

My family has stayed here numerous times in past years and will continue to do so. The staff and owners are enough of a reason to want to stay here. I've never had any problems with my rooms nor any problem from the staff. That is huge to me, it doesn't matter to me if its over a phone conversation, checking in & out, requesting more towels or just passing by with a friendly hello...you'll never have that kind of problem with them. The rooms are very clean, a good amount of space My ideal vacation is to relax and spend uninterrupted time while sitting around and talking to my 4 kids, and for all you parents that have teenagers you know what I'm talking about. I LOVE the fact they have a nice sized CLEAN & FENCED pool and also pool/patio furniture. When the kids were younger we did the beach thing with sand castles, waves knocking them down...however as they got older they preferrd the pool and I had no complaints. Able to walk out the door and right over to the pool. I was able to make lunch and eat under the umbrella table. The kitchenette is awesome to have. There is space available to park a boat, a huge back yard to grill and kids to run around and play. Just remember you don't have to stay at an overpriced room to have a good time. They don't have the hospatatily, clean safe pool and a large back yard for kids to run around or for you and your lovey to lay out a blanket, drink some wine and watch the stars! It won't hurt Ya if you give it a try and stay there. You will be checking out and making next years reservations at the same time! read more
