Bathroom sink had line of black mold around edge

We were notified by email in the morning that our room was ready but upon arriving at the property more than 8 hrs later, we were told it was not ready and needed to be inspected by housekeeping supervisor. We drove over 8 hrs for a planned family reunion. When we were eventually given keys, we found air purifying unit left at the door, apparently someone's dog had an "accident" in the carpet. The room smelled badly of dog urine. Also found toilet seat up and it had hair and dried urine stuck to it. The sink had a line of black mold around the edge. There is no way the room was inspected since it hadn't even been cleaned. That was an excuse to delay our entry into the room, while someone apparently attempted to clean up the dog mess. Reported this to front desk and attempted to use ladies' room in lobby area and found that was also filthy. What is wrong with people?!? Who pees on a toilet seat? We were eventually moved to a smaller room without kitchen and that room smelled like a wet dog, the sheets and bedding were moist with dampness. We were booked for 4 nights, we left after resting a few hours and drove 10 hours home. This was the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Cannot understand how they have such high ratings on review sights. I guess if you're a dog owner and don't have to board your pet it's great, but for travelers like us this was not at all a place we would recommend or ever stay at again.

Recently planned a family trip to Rehoboth Beach and decide to stay at the Hyatt House! Equally convenient to shopping, restaurants, and beaches. We wanted to bring our dog and we enjoyed that the hotel was pet-friendly! Pet owners will receive a tag for the door letting everyone know wagging tails are around. There was a potty station outside of the hotel on the side. Some grassy area for furry friends to utilize also. Our little buddy received a goody bag for his stay that had treats and a toy inside. I thought that was a nice gesture. Initially the hotel ran out but we were able to get one for our pup before checking out. Family oriented hotel, free parking, convenient location, indoor pool, fire pit, fitness center, laundry room. The front desk staff were helpful. The hotel hosted good size rooms. The downside of our stay was that our room was next to the elevators and you would constantly hear that. The neighboring room also was loud at 2am one night and 4am another night. Aside from that it was a good trip and a decent stay. I'd consider staying again if I was in town.

I got there around 3:30 PM and there was no one there to help us check in. However, on the way I was told everything I needed to know to get in through the main door and into the room. There is a small private lot to park in plus the street is free for parking next to the building. I do not know if that becomes an issue in peak season but at least it wasn't a worry for now. The common area is super nice. It feels like being home. There was white and red wine out and soft drinks in the common fridge as well. The room itself was surprisingly large and comfortable. Everything was in place for a great stay - ample towels in the bathroom, instructions for everything including where to place used glasses and so on. Waking up breakfast was being made for any guests that wanted it. Banana pancakes with bacon and some grapefruit. It was nice to smell those smells before coming down to experience it! The only frustrating part was the initial booking. Since the single night could not be reserved online I needed to call. I was never able to call and get a person immediately. I always needed to leave a voicemail and wait for them to get back to me. Though I cannot say it was a big deal, it still does make for a bit of a hitch if you are trying to make last minute plans.

The room I booked was not the room held, but since it was a weekday I could have my pick of the 3 front rooms, none of them the one I booked (?). The room was clean and there was AC that, when turned On, over time cooled the room down. During the night I was awakened by the heat and found the AC was not cycling On unless the ceiling fan was On (?). There are plentiful sugary and baked goods snacks and soda in the breakfast room for anytime. The fresh fruit though was over or under ripe. The morning coffee was not hot. Breakfast did happen and I was able to enjoy a wide selection of melon and berries with yogurt that was put out buffet style. The eggs requested, came pretty much as desired. The first morning I found out the free bike option was no longer available. I must have read about bikes in the reviews but now find they are no longer available in the fine print of the booking. My pleasure in staying here always fell short. I would have enjoyed a cookie cutter motel as much. I suppose I wanted the accommodation to be as attentive as the decor pictured. When we arrived, we were given a room on the second floor that had an obstructed view. What the heck? We went back to the lobby and spoke with the receptionist and he changed us to a room on the fourth floor (402). That had a spectacular view of the canal and was the same price. So why didn't the first employee just offer it when we specifically asked for a room with a view and it was obviously unoccupied? Beats the heck out of me. The inn looks a little like a museum inside with its decorations and statues so if you like that sort of vibe, this would fit your needs. The bathtub is quite slippery which surprised me since most of the patrons staying here appear to be seniors. The room does have a mini fridge and has two complimentary water bottles which is nice. Their complimentary "European style breakfast" from 8-10 AM advertised on their website wasn't impressive at all. Be aware there are no hot foods. It's a few pastries, some fresh fruit, what looks like store made granola and individual yogurt cups, some bagels/toast. We are staying for two nights but you're missing nothing by eating breakfast elsewhere. I was still hungry after eating the meager breakfast provided. Super 8 would probably has a better breakfast. The front desk also leaves and/or stops answering the phones by 11 pm so if you have an overnight emergency or need, I think you're on your own. Overall, what you're paying for is the view (if you get even that) and proximity to the small downtown area. There is outdoor inn parking in a lot across the street. You do have to walk across the street and downhill to get from parking lot to the inn which could be hairy in rainy or snowy weather.

There is a small gym, though I didn't get a chance to go look at it. There are some points of improvement: - we left our room at 8 in the morning. When we came back around noon, it had not been visited by the cleaning staff. When we left and came back again around 3, it had been visited but only stocked with fresh towels and the trash was taken out. Our soiled towels and some dishes were still on the floor/sink. When we left for dinner, I mentioned it to the front desk attendant at 530. He was very apologetic and said they would send someone up to address the issue. When we got back at 8, our soiled towels were gone, but that was it. The beds were not made, and there were still old dishes on the sink from the night prior. - I pulled out one of the clean (or so I thought) glasses from the cabinet in the room and noticed it had a bunch of finger prints. So I pulled each and every one out of the cabinet and was surprised and disappointed to see not only fingerprints but LIP prints on all of the glassware, as if they had been put back dirty after multiple uses. I cleaned a glass in the sink with hot water and soap for my own usage, but that's less than optimal for a Hilton affiliate. Other than that, a great family visit at a nice hotel. We talked to the assistant general manager Cyrus and he was great with service recovery for our two small complaints!

Staff was scarce and typically only available during the day. There wasn't anyone staffing the front desk in the evenings or throughout the night. What was surprising is that the hotel had me pay for my entire stay upfront, and not just registering me with my AMEX card. I was a bit surprised that they required that. I don't think I have had a hotel / motel require full payment upfront. I don't know if this is their usual practice. Room price was competitive for a touristy beach location. For amenities, the have an outdoor pool and lounging deck located on the second floor. Otherwise, fairly basic hotel. They did not offer a continental breakfast, but did have fresh coffee in the lobby in the morning. There weren't coffee makers in the rooms. Hotel has an inviting beach decor, but is dated. In fact, they were replacing carpets in the lobby when I was there. I was a bit surprised when I came down in the morning and found lobby area closed off. Pros: * *really* family-friendly - great lobby with toys and puzzles for the kids, decent midsized if somewhat odd pool via a second-floor causeway. * *very* friendly staff * location can't be beat - a long block to the beach, a very scenic block the other way to the short but quaint and fun downtown Lewes, a mile and a half from Cape Henlopen State Park (and beach) and a mile or so from the ferry. Perfect if you want a Lewes getaway and you want to leave your car in Cape May. * clean, in our experience. Cons: * a bit noisy, and that's not just because we were noisy. * expensive in season; we got stuck with a nearly undiscounted rate because of the way we made our reservation, for a larger single room that could sleep four, and it ran us $290 once all the taxes, etc. were counted in. * almost no amenities: thin coffee in the lobby and basic toiletries, that's it. The TV was an old CRT with snow on half the cable channels. Nickelodeon's audio kept dropping out for reasons unbeknownst to us. * no elevator, narrow stairs = logistic "fun" with any amount of luggage. So, this sort of adds up to a classic three stars - pros balance the cons, it really depends on what your tolerance for the cons vs. your appetite for the pros are. Note there's a "deli" two doors down on the ground floor that serves breakfast starting at 7, which suffices for basic nutrition.
