My husband booked this motel at the last minute. I was very apprehensive after reading reviews. When we first pulled in I thought my fears were about to come true. The first thing I noticed was the great location to the beach. Just steps out the door and there is sand between your toes. We booked a room that sleeps 6 - two full beds and two pull out couches. Entering the room we were greeted by cheery, beachy decor. The living room, bath and kitchen had new hard wood laminate flooring. Both kitchen and bath had new tiling and fixtures. The refrigerator and microwave were new. There was enough plates, cups, silverware, etc. to easily accommodate 6 people plus. The walls and woodwork throughout were painted in the recent past. The mattresses were fair in comfort level. Overall the room was very clean.
A few things that could use work - coffee maker was badly stained. The pull out couches were not comfortable for an adult. One of the mattresses was missing a mattress pad while the other had two. There is a bit of a musty odor when you first walk in but I'm guessing you'll find that all over the island because of the constant moisture. And housekeeping was inconsistent during our stay.
This room was certainly worth the rate we paid.
We added another night to our reservation when we arrived and were told we'd have to switch rooms that last night. We didn't mind as we wanted to stay the extra day. The second room had clearly not been redone like the first. While it was clean and more spacious, it certainly rocked the 70s motel vibe. I would have been disappointed if this was the room we had for the whole trip. The room also slept 6 but there wasn't even enough utensils for 4 people.
If you stay here I would ask for one of the updated rooms when making reservations. read more
