I was unable to find the particular vinyl she wanted and the guy who was working tried his best to find it at other record stores in the area. I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly and willing to help me find it. Although I was unable to find what my fiancée wanted, I did me two vinyls I've been looking for. One of them was Out of the Cellar by Ratt. I use to listen to that album all the time as a kid. The other vinyl I found was Back Home Again by John Denver. I would put that album in my top 5 favorite albums. Besides selling vinyls, they did have guitars, drums, bass and pianos for sale. Really nice record store and I hope to stop by again if I'm ever in the Baton Rouge area.

It's a really lovely…read moresign to see a vinyl store here and the interior, although small, is well organized and has a surprisingly good selection for its size. I'm pleased to see a lot of indie selections in Cajun country; Beach House, Mac Demarco, Wild Nothing, amongst others. There's also some cheaper pre owned vinyl that aren't horribly overpriced, which is nice to see. Great shop to browse around and check for hidden gems.

Located in a brightly colored building on Frenchmen Street (corner of Frenchmen St. & Decatur St.), LMF is one of the longest running record stores in New Orleans. LMF definitely has an old-school record store vibe to it - minus the old musty smell and w/ the modern day comfort of ac. Trust me when I say that you'll for sure want to spend hours at this local NOLA gem, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to visit. LMF has a huge inventory of vinyl records and cds (old and new - all genres, including a great assortment of local New Orleans music) that are neatly organized and reasonably priced. It also carries musical posters, books, and shirts. There is also a Yelp perk of getting $2 off a t-shirt when you check-in on Yelp. Baton Rouge has a brand new bookstore and more on Perkins Road! It's located in the same shopping…read morecenter as Trader Joe's and Petco. It's the large space formerly occupied by Pier 1, and they have transformed this into a spacious and amazing media store! 2nd & Charles is a subsidiary of Books-A-Million, and like its parent store, they sell lots of books! This includes used books, which have been in short supply in this area since Cottonwood Books sadly closed. However, this store has lots more! I saw pretty much every kind of physical media represented, as well as lots of cards and pop culture collectibles. There were magazines, comics, music (including vinyl, movies, and even some musical instruments! The staff were going about asking customers if they needed assistance, and there was a line of people checking out with their newly found books and other items. Everyone seemed to be happy with this new business when I visited. I'm glad to see new businesses coming into Baton Rouge, especially book-related businesses!

Prices weren't cheap, but clothing was well sorted and all items were special pieces that packed a punch; nothing boring here. Although my usual clothing selections are a bit more timeless and less bright (so I didn't buy clothing here), I thoroughly enjoyed poking around and making friends with the staff. Bought a couple vintage-reproduction pairs of glasses that I will thoroughly enjoy- quite stylish. A really fun experience.
