I brought my two senior cats in for bloodwork and an exam. One cat was then diagnosed with…read morehyperthyroidism and put on meds when the bloodwork showed an elevated thyroid level. I then received a call that the bloodwork "may have been mixed up" so bring my one cat back in for a free retest. This test indicated a low thyroid level and was significantly different from the first test with an elevated level. Instead of a vet looking at the 2 bloodtests and seeing they were so different and most likely not my cats bloodwork . I'm contacted by the vet techs and told to continue on the thyroid meds. One vet tech was not aware there was a blood test mix up and one told me when I asked why it seemed like the 2nd test was so different that it was not my cats bloodwork answered me by saying" That's a good question". Then I wonder was my other senior cat bloodtest mixed up as they were done at the same time? Meanwhile I spent $100 on thyroid meds and $520.38 on bloodwork and I still dont know if my cat has hyperthyroidism. because the new bloodwork does not show it. I was offered after complaining another free retest after taking my cats off the meds but honestly I have a very stressed old cat who has already been in for 3 blood tests and a vets office that I'm dealing with techs not the vet. I plan on going elsewhere where I can deal with a vet that can call me, and actually take the time to look at the bloodwork

My 8 year old dog was ill and my wife and I took him to Shaker Vet. The vet that attended to my dog…read morewas Dr Landgraf. In the end., my pup passed. For the most part, my pup was healthy. Therefore, his passing was shocking. What I find totally insensitive is that Dr Landgraf never called us to review the autopsy report, as promised. My wife and I have used Shaker for a number of years and have been satisfied. The insensitivity on Dr Landgraf's part was totally outrageous and a bad mark on Shaker's reputation. Dr Landgraf's unprofessional behavior does not speak well to Shaker.

Wow. Please seek other veterinary care for your pets. I…read morebrought my cat to this practice for years after adopting her because I was told Dr. Towery was an excellent veterinarian. I wanted to ensure she received the best possible care, so I never hesitated to ask questions, voice concerns, and follow through with recommended visits. Every appointment cost hundreds of dollars, rarely less than $400 and I trusted that investment meant my cat was receiving thorough, attentive care. I eventually switched to another veterinary practice because I felt my concerns were repeatedly being dismissed. Thank goodness I did. My new veterinarian discovered that my cat had a serious condition that had been developing over the course of several years, the same years she was under VCA's care while attending annual wellness exams. The most heartbreaking part is that this was ultimately the condition that took her life. What makes that even harder to accept is that there were visible signs my new veterinarian recognized and investigated immediately. These were concerns I had been bringing up since 2022, yet they were repeatedly brushed off instead of being properly addressed. Pet owners trust veterinary professionals with members of their family. We rely on your expertise because our pets cannot advocate for themselves. I did everything I was supposed to do by bringing my cat in regularly, asking questions, following recommendations, and raising concerns. My cat deserved better, and I hope no other family has to experience the heartbreak of learning that years of warning signs and repeated concerns went unaddressed.
