This was our first visit to this particular light shop and we were impressed by their selection. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and got a run down of where each type of light was located. I really enjoyed that each light was plugged in and able to be turned on / off and dimmed if available. The outdoor selection was really nice and they had some very unique pieces. The prices were a bit high in my opinion and that ultimately led to us not purchasing a new light for our dining room. Visited Capital Lighting on a recommendation from a friend. I was searching for a new light above our new dining room table. Given the dining room is also an open area of our home that is considered a great room I was very specific on my needs. The size, the style and most importantly on budget. After viewing lights on their website, we landed on a few that we feel in love with. The website allowed me to customize my search making it easier to find what we were looking for. So, to decide on which of the two we found online, my husband and I headed to the store. The location of this store is easy to find and right off Polaris Parkway. Parking out front making it easily accessible. Upon entering on this Saturday afternoon, we were immediately welcomed by a few individuals. Lucky for them we had exactly which lights we wanted to see. The lady who assisted us told us that those particular lights they didn't carry in the store so we couldn't see them. Given we got distracted by the vast number of lights in the store we started to look around to see if we found one there that met my size, style and budget requirements instead. We found a few at the store and realized they didn't have of those in stock and would have to order anything at this point we liked. Both the two online we saw and in store. She let us know it would take 3-4 weeks for the light to be shipped to their store for pick up. Hmmm. I wasn't happy about that but nothing we could do but order and wait. So, my husband and I agreed on a light and it was one we saw online. We got light bulb recommendations which was extremely helpful. I didn't know how intense the decision on light bulbs were. Definitely appreciated. After leaving the store, I was part excited and part disappointed we would have to wait and then drive back up here to pick up the light. This place is completely overwhelming and overpriced in my opinion. When someone finally helped me, they pointed me to these enormous catalogs as though they didn't want to offer personal assistance. I had several lights that I needed for my new home and decided to go elsewhere due to lack of customer service and pricing. read more

Website has misleading ship times! We canceled our order with another company who sold the same lights, because this site said the items will ship in 2 days. That was 6 weeks ago and just get excuse after excuse. Called yesterday, didnt get a call back. Their customer service is horrible. I wish there was a way to leave a 0 rating. This is what you get for not checking Yelp before you order services. This is a long rating because I do not want any one else to have to deal with this joke of a store - bottom line is I am WORSE off now then I was when I went to them. Recently (May 8th 2017) I purchased a new home. On 5/14/17 I went to Capital Lighting to order 2 new fans and 1 kitchen chandelier. The first fan was for my bedroom with vaulted ceilings, the second fan was for my great room with 20ft ceilings and the kitchen light was normal height. All three items were in perfect working order - I just did not like the styles as they were very outdated Upon ordering these items I was told that it would be 3 weeks for them to be ordered and brought in. That should have been my first clue - what lighting store does not carry a stock of basic fans and lamps. However - I was willing to wait. By my timeline this would put the arrival of the stock in at sometime around June 3. This was a bit annoying as I had moved ahead of my family and I had hoped to have everything installed when the house was empty but again - not a big deal. It should be noted that the total sum of this order was 1359.42 4 weeks later - family is here and I am wondering where my items are. After a time on hold they tell me "Oh the items are here we just need to get you scheduled" - This should have been the Second Clue. Net net - here is where we are. Installer calls on the day that they were supposed to arrive to inform me that the other 2 installers called out sick and because of this he could not install the great room fan - but that he would install the bed room and the kitchen (need 2 people with a celling that high) (Note this has since turned into a blessing) Installer arrives and installs the fan in the bedroom and then tried to install the kitchen light - which he could not get to work. Upon inspection he realized that the LIGHT WAS BROKEN. In the meantime my husband went to put something away upstairs and tried to turn on the bedroom fan - WHICH DID NOT WORK. The installer could not figure it out.....so he said that he would have to come back. At this point I told him to return the kitchen light - we no longer wanted it and he left me with a BULB.... Capital Lighting employee calls me the next day to tell me that the soonest I could be rescheduled was today 6/29. We are sort of at their mercy now because the fan in the bedroom needs to be fixed and the great room still needs to be installed. Can you guess what happened??? THE FAN THAT THEY BROUGHT TODAY FOR MY BEDROOM WAS DAMAGED AND USED - THE INSTALLER CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY HAD NO OTHER STOCK ON HAND SO THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER IT. Needless to say my husband thanked the installer for his time and told him to take the fan back and proceeded to go to the store to tell these idiots that we wanted nothing to do with their product and that we demanded a 100% refund for the order. They agreed. The store manager called me and I explained the whole story again. He really did not seem to be to bothered by this until I told him that 1. I now had NO WORKING FAN or 2. NO WORKING LIGHT in my bedroom or kitchen. I am 100% worse off now then I was when this whole thing started!!!!! They refunded every penny - I told him this was not going to stop me from my poor review or me calling my real estate agent to tell her to never recommend them to anyone again. Enter at your own risk - the product is NOT WORTH IT.!!!! PS - My husband asked the installer how often this happened - where stuff was damaged or there were issues - he told him AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. He said that he was always dealing with issues like this and that he did not know how the company stayed in business.... read more

Do not order online from this company. Horrible Return Service. They Are holding $1000 of mine hostage. I called to return a chandelier over a month ago and they have yet to send me the form to return it by truck. I continuously get customer service agents who promised me that it will be picked up and it's not. Do not order online from this company. I will never buy another fixture from this store. The selection is amazing and tempting but don't do it! I bought a $500 fixture and bingo!, I could take it home that day! Well, I discovered upon opening the box that it was damaged and opened, re-taped and had leaves all in the bottom. They sold the used fixture to me at retail price. I called to complain and get a new one and was told it would need to be ordered. It took 3 weeks for a new one to arrive. I had left a vm for the manager who never called me back. She waited on me at the store when I made the exchange (3rd trip to this store) - it took her the better part of the conversation to apologize. They had several chances to make this up and offer something for my trouble and their poor service - not a thing. No credit, no free bulb, not even a thank you for putting up with them. Jennifer really should be fired - she is a liability to the store. What poor customer service. In this day and age, there are many options, why settle for this? read more

Builders all partner with Capital Lighting and I wish they didn't. I had a terrible experience in the store. I think the building division doesn't care at at all about the customers because we are locked into using them! Shiela Houpe never emails or calls back. When the builder escalates it she pretends she cares in a sickeningly sweet voice then goes back to not responding. The first experience was that we were never called for an appointment! We called them and obviously got no response so I stopped into the showroom. The in store team was crazy rude and proceeded to refuse to show me anything. Later Shiela presents some odd story about them not knowing our pricing? Who knows? But according to her they were afraid to show me lights! Because she would yell at them! We finally got lights. They were broken, didn't fit and more than half were missing. We reached out to good old Shiela again who "didn't know"!!! Guess what they STILL aren't fixed! We paid in full. Supposedly they are going in AFTER our final walkthrough! I hate this company times 100! Never never never shop there! read more

Spend your money elsewhere. The sales staff is rude, disrespectful, and dishonest. The staff member we did finally work with was not knowledgeable on lighting or how to read an electrical plan to put fixtures in our new home. We had to continually explain what each icon meant, and the type of light fixture that could be placed overhead vs. on a wall. Samantha never returned our voicemails and emails, and when she finally did set up an appointment with us, she pretended to be sick, and did not show up for the meeting. We later learned that she would have never shown up for that meeting because she isn't even scheduled to work at that time. We only considered using them because our home builder had a contract with them. We ended up working with our builder to find another solution. This place is terrible. I am not sure why we were treated the way we were, but I am happy we decided to take our funds elsewhere. These people are amateurs, and quite frankly, a disgusting waste of time. read more

Great selection of lights... But the frostiness of both 'gents' at the front counter was positively chilling! Talk about feeling unwelcome, and after doing a lap around the entire store, not one employee approached to see if I required any assistance...! I could have easily spent a couple of thousand dollars today, heck I even had the seats out of the van ready to load it up... Clearly they don't want my cash, or my business. Doubt they care about reviews since their main business is through builders but I had to leave a review. They were the only contractor in my new build who couldn't finish on time and the things they did finish didn't happen until the last week or so right before closing. And they actually installed the wrong ceiling fans. There was one light that they didn't deliver until a month after closing and when I asked if they would install another flush mount light at the same time (for which I would pay) they said they only install it if I buy from them. Way to turn down business I guess. read more

Went in with hubby ready to buy a fan, picked one out in 10 minutes. No one said hello or acknowledged us; I stood by the service desk and the woman didn't even look up or acknowledge my presence. I went into this store for landscape lighting bulbs. They told me the halogen were not manufatured any more and I had to buy LEDs. Long story made short, they convinced me to spend $400+ for 7 LEDs and I paid with credit card. Said they had to order them because they did not carry in stock. Later that evening I went to Home Depot and guess what? Found what I needed for $75 total cost. I returned to Capital Lighting next day and told them I wanted refund. They tell me that I must wait a week for a credit....what???? They charged my card immediately and I have to wait a week for a refund? Keep in mind I never took a product from them. It's now a week later and still no credit on my account. Bad business!!!! read more

Great selection and service. Used them throughout the building process many times when I worked for a builder in Columbus, Ohio.
