Update 6-3-2025. Just hired these folks again to take care of an urgent and difficult issue. They sent out Kyle and Tyler. These guys are true professionals. Diligent, thoughtful, good communicators (they listen), polite, and very "likeable." Kyle and Tyler worked like surgeons: precise and clean. They also gave good advice. These are the guys you want working in your home! From 2024: Safe Electric & Plumbing is the only firm you should hire. These people are not only diligent experts who are highly responsive, they are also decent and kind people. We had them work in our home several times - and its always the same: Wonderful. They diagnose the problems with the disciplined approach of scientists. They communicate clearly, are polite and extremely pleasant - but most of all, they are the absolute best. I reached out because our hot water heater was not working after the breaker tripped multiple times. The technician arrived, and my husband showed him our laundry room with our water heater and electric panel and explained what was happening and concern about a sizzle sound after the breaker tripped most recently. The technician did not inspect the water heater, only glancing over and saying it "looks new." He went over to the electric panel and began confirming our fears that what my husband described was a safety concern. He went outside for approximately 5 minutes to look at our outside electric box. He suggested we get it fixed because it's not flush against the house but focused on claims that it would be best to replace our electric panel because it is worn out and a fire hazard. He claimed the reason it was a fire hazard was due to breakers that had been replaced. He repeatedly expressed concerns for our safety and continued to look over at the breakers and claimed he could tell they would fail soon. In under 30 minutes he gave my husband an estimate with options for replacing the main panel for approximately $5,000 or approximately $7,000 to replace the entire electrical panel. My husband and I talked and agreed since the technician was so adamant our existing panel was a fire hazard and claimed we are in danger, we agreed to the full panel replacement. I was handed a tablet to complete a financing application. Nothing about the financing was explained and I had no idea if it's a loan or line of credit. I do know I would be paying for 7 years at 13% interest. While I was completing the financing process, the technician was extremely talkative and joked with my husband about sports. He scheduled an appointment for the following week. He again claimed our existing panel was a fire hazard and that he was glad he was going to help keep us safe by replacing it. After he left, I had a bad feeling. He never said anything about the water heater, which was the whole reason for the visit. Combined with the short inspection, never explaining what made him decide the breaker box was dangerous, the high cost estimate, the invoice that doesn't include a breakdown of material vs labor, or any description of the work to be done, and the incessant overly friendly talking. It began to hit me how many hard sell tactics were used during the short visit. I decided to talk to a family member who said I should get a second opinion and that there's no way any of what the technician said was true. He suggested an electrician who came out the next morning. The electrician quickly found the real issue, which was a loose screw! He told us that nothing was wrong with our electrical panel and that he turned his screw driver 5 times before he could hear the hot water heater come back on. He did not charge us for the visit. He also informed us that Safe Electric and Plumbing has a reputation for unnecessary overly expensive work. I called to cancel with Safe and received unclear answers from their both their AI and weekend answering service about the status of the loan through their lender. I was eventually told to call the finance department next week. I also went back and looked more closely at their reviews and was horrified to see how many of both the positive and negative reviews described similar experiences. This includes many of the positive reviews reporting "electric panel replacement or upgrade" after hiring this company for unrelated work and the negative reviews who also experienced hard sell scare tactics. I'm feeling upset and manipulated. We came so close to paying over $7,000 plus 13% interest for 7 years for a loose screw. After several calls, I did at least get confirmation that the loan would not move forward without any work being done. I cannot adequately put into words how sickened I am by the realization that this business we trusted to come into our home engages in tactics to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. Had them out to clear a down spout drainage pipe. They refused insisting it required a $5500 line replacement and extension. I ended up having to do the work myself. They still insisted on a $69 service fee. I guess it's a house game. Not going to roll the with them in the future bad business ethics. read more

We had one of those "we can deal with this" small home update projects that turned into "ohhhh we need help" - replacing a vent fan/light in a bathroom. I have Contamination OCD and any kind of project that could create dust is really triggering for me. When I let Bryce know this in hopes he would understand I need it to be a really tidy and precise job, he took the time to describe to me how they would switch shoe covers out from inside the room where they would also tarp it off, and wear different shoe covers to go through the house. I honestly felt really seen and our little house project got done in an afternoon easy. Hope and Bryce were great. I would recommend. read more

Extremely overpriced. My home is 972 sq ft. Safe Electric & Plumbing quoted me at $47,000 for a rewire. They gave me different price options for less work, all the way down to $9,000+ just to put in a new panel. They charge $1600 just to put in one new plug. I have been able to find other highly rated companies in the area that have quoted me far less. These other companies asked me what my issues were and gave me affordable options that would fix my issues without needing a full rewire. However, when I asked these other companies the price of a full rewire for my 972 sq ft home, the price quoted was about a fourth of the $47k price Safe Electric & Plumbing quoted. Would not recommend unless you're rich. read more

Great communication throughout the process. On time. Polite. Great customer service. Knowledgeable technicians. They cleaned up after themselves. They wore booties and took care not to damage anything. Their company was even doing a collection of non perishable food items for local food pantry. I was able to give the items to the technicians when they left. I had several electrical issues. They took their time to diagnose the problem, educate me about potential solutions, provide an accurate estimate before starting work and keep me informed along the way. I had the absolute best experience with this company and dealing with Chris Roberts. Chris was extremely patient with me and understanding of my situation, he took the time to explain all my options. I had called to get 2 bathroom fans replaced and to check on an issue I have with a ceiling fan. I had no idea how much it cost to just do the bathroom fans and what it could involve. In the end I just did one fan. Chris was efficient and cleaned up any mess that was made. I would definitely recommend Safe Electric to any friends or neighbor. I called to have a ceiling fan installed and was told there would be a $69.95 charge to show up. They came out and wanted to look at the electric system in my home. Then they told me my system was too old and that they would not install the fan unless I did $7000 to $8000 of electrical work and still charged the $69.95. I did not call for an inspection I called to have a ceiling fan installed. This company was a waste of time and money with questionable business ethics. read more

Susan answered my call with such compassion and empathy. She sent a technician out almost immediately to assess the damage. Kyle did the quote which was far cheaper than another company. Dylan, the technician, worked all night to resolve our issue. He was professional, educated, timely, and so kind. Even after a little snafu he immediately came back (despite probably being on his way home!), resolved the issue, went above and beyond waiting until AEP came back to make sure all was ok before leaving. My mother recently had a fan switch repaired by Safe Electric. After the work was done, the technician asked to look at her electric panel and showed her where it was supposedly "worn out" and dangerous, saying it needed to be replaced before it caused problems. He gave her an estimate of around $3400 for that work. She was worried and ready to schedule the panel replacement to be done the next week. He even called the office to get an appointment for her on the spot but luckily he was put on hold for a while and decided to move on to his next appointment. That sounded like a scam to me so we had another very reputable electrician look at it. He said the panel is in good shape, no more than 10 years old, and the dark and light areas that the tech pointed out were just natural changes and no reason for concern. She then remembered she had had the panel and upgraded about a decade ago. I wrote to the company stating this and pointing out that the fact the estimate even exists is proof of bad intentions because she certainly didn't say, "hey, can you give me an estimate to replace my panel?" There is no excuse for providing an estimate when the panel is fine. The company did not respond. Shame on them for trying to dupe a customer into expensive and unnecessary work. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that this particular employee was a bad apple, acting on his own, but they did not reply. read more

After being very satisfied with previous electrical work by Ed at Safe Electric, we contacted them again regarding the installation of a 30 amp/240 volt electric vehicle charging plug in our garage (typically known as an electric "dryer plug"). We also requested they install an "RV electrical box," just like the ones at the campgrounds for our RV that is parked on the side of the garage and to accommodate any RV visitors. Ed provided an estimate and also recommended the installation of a "surge protector" since our detached garage's electrical comes from buried electrical lines from our home's basement some distance away. The only other "surge protector" is on the opposite side of the house (at another basement panel). Recently, Ed and Kyle came out, crawled around in the garage's attic space, fished wire through the walls, etc, etc. The installation is VERY clean and professional. We now have the 30 amp/240 volt electric vehicle charging plug inside the garage between two of the parking spots so it can be used from either spot (wiring is ALL inside the wall). We have a full RV box on the side of the garage. It has a 30 amp/120 volt "regular plug," just like the ones in the house, another 30 amp/240 volt "dryer plug" for small or medium size RV's (or, for an electric vehicle that won't fit in the garage) and the 50 amp/240 volt plug for the BIG RV visitors. Finally, Ed and Kyle added a "surge protector" in the garage wall, just below the electrical panel. GREAT JOB, Ed and Kyle! Thank you! Looks great and we are already using some of the plugs! During summer 2021 I began planning for the installation of a mini-split unit for an "all season" room without any air conditioning or heating. I selected Custom Air, Columbus, Ohio, to install a Mitsubishi mini-split unit, but I had to find an electrician to provide 220 volt service to the exterior wall of the room. I contacted seven electrical companies for estimates, a couple did not show up at the arranged time. I ultimately received five estimates, Safe Electric was one of the more expensive (not the most expensive), but "Ed" spent more time than any other electrician carefully looking over the project and then provided the most detailed estimate that was all inclusive. Some companies had provided very general estimates that included language saying things like, "...additional required materials and time to be paid for by the property owner." Ed installed the wiring in 90 feet of metal (not plastic) pipe that he bent (with a pipe bending tool) to perfectly fit snugly under the eave of the roof. The sections of pipe were connected with waterproof fittings. The entire installation was very professional and is does not detract from the home's exterior appearance. The County's Building Inspector was very impressed with the entire installation. Please see the attached four photos. Craig was a miracle worker! Another firm told us that a chandelier couldn't be fixed without adding external wiring and that a bathroom fixture couldn't be opened to replace the lights. Craig did both of those things! Plus he has a really good sense of humor and is easy to work. Why would you even think about bringing in some other electrician when you can hire a miracle worker?
