This company basically takes your money (10%)filing fee for unclaimed properly from the State of California ;s Controller;s Office that you can do for basically free. You can file your own unclaimed property clam on-llne with the State of California, just follow directions, They scam you into a contract and later send you a notification that it will cost you 10% of the unclaimed property but you basically have to provide all the documentation, All they do is send the documents in for the price of a stamp and collect when you collect, Don't fall for the scam read more

I didn't have them do my claim of property, but i was contacted by Folsom about some properties and their offering to help me claim it. Yes, they are legitimate: The California State Controller verified that, yes, they are a legitimate company. They do charge 10% of the total amount of property recovered. I am sorry that they didn't tell this to Jack, but the person i spoke to had let me be aware of that. Sorry they didn't give you that information, Jack :( What I was told was that all they need from me is a notarization (if applicable), signatures, drivers license, and SSN. The rest (proof that i own the properties) would be done by them. Obviously, if they needed further documents, they would contact me. In a nutshell, if you dont want to go through the hassle of looking for proof that you really do own the unclaimed money, then go with them. You will pay them 10% of your earnings, but that's it. If you want 100% payment going to you and you dont mind getting the needed proof, then do it yourself. I am almost all done with my needed proof so i am just going to continue doing it on my own. It is actually not that hard to do if you keep records of all your business transactions. read more

I didn't know I was owed 10G... not a clue and I never would have until I got their letter. BRAVO CPG!!! And now that they have been given their due props... As executor of an estate, I had a difficult time liquidating stocks found under unclaimed property with the State. After many phone calls and in-person visits to the owner of the stock (BofA), Secretary of State's office and the IRS over a 2-year period, I gave up on the matter. Then, some 20 years later I decided to respond to a letter I received from Capital Pacific Group. I was advised that the stocks had been liquidated and might be able to be claimed. I received a voice mail message from a "Matt." He said he was "looking at a file that came across his desk" and trying to "close out an account" that had my name on it. He made it sound as if he was with a bank or similar institution, so I called him back. In fact, Matt verified my hunch that this business is an asset search firm that charges 10% of whatever is recovered. As others have pointed out, you can do this yourself by going to the State Controller's Office and filling out some paperwork. I don't object to the business itself - some people may want to pay 10% if it saves them time - but I DO object to the misrepresentations that their representative made to me. read more
