Sadly, this place can't be given anything lower than 1 star. If you've been to the ER or Urgent Care and they refer you to this facility - request another referral and AVOID this facility. After 2 hours in the waiting room, staff losing the x-rays (which you can't be seen without), having to wait for new x-rays, this "business" should be reimbursing their patients for incompetence! Welcome to factory of orthopedic groups! Yes you have seen them before ladies and gents. And people swear by them....but fellow Yelpers you have been warned. Located in the well known Bone and Joint Center that you can't miss seeing between Washington Avenue and I-90, this medical practice is one you should avoid like the plague. Actually the plague might be a better experience than three visits at this box store of medical practices. Quite simply, a visit here is like going to the DMV followed by a shot of Central Avenue Jiffy Lube on a Saturday morning as a chaser. From the moment you arrive in the parking-lot, to when you arrive via elevator you are surrounded not only by miserable patients, but cranky, and somewhat tired looking medical staff. You get on stand on line 20 minutes in front of 20 receptionists before your appointment, (you better not cut in-front of granny or soccer mom from Latham) and then your are delegated to a sterile waiting are before going back to an examination room. Then there is a exam, which most likely will be done buy an Albany Medical School/ AMC 2nd year resident. Hmmm...when I go to a specialists office, the last person I'd expect to examine me is a resident? But now I know...Teaching Practice. Meet the physician in charge...you'll lucky if he spends 10 minutes with you. Need a refill on your RX, before your follow up? Plan on waiting a week, only to get offered a new appointment to bilk your insurance for an RX of Naproxen. Trust me, after three visits...nothing improves...except your desire to spend the rest of the day on a Walmart check out line naked, than this experience this place when you have a serious orthopedic problem. read more

I've seen 3 different doctors there for different things and they are great. All have been a great help. Went there after OrthoNY did the wrong operation on me. Dr Lawrence just did spinal surgery on me and he's great. read more

Capital Region Spine and Dr Lawrence have been my back doctor for. 5+ years. Dr. Lawrence has the best bedside manner and is very competent which translates to trust with his patients. On the few occasions that I have had to wait, he is well worth it. He has operated on my back and we have had great success! I love Dr Lawrence and his PA Christine. read more

Unfortunately, I can't give a review about the doctor I was attempting to see as I couldn't get past the appointment desk and the doctor's secretary. I first tried to make an online appointment with Dr. Whipple for severe hand pain. After not hearing from CORG for three days I called to make the appointment. Since I am coming from out of state, and the issue involved a hand on which I'd previously had surgery, the appointment makers couldn't decide if this was the case of a "second opinion" or not. Apparently, they've been tasked with making these determinations. In short, if my issue were a "second opinion", Dr. Whipple wouldn't see me. That should have been my cue to move on, but Dr. Whipple had very good reviews and I did want to see him. This back and forth went on for two days. They piecemealed me along, lobbing one new issue after the other - i.e. , he can't see you unless you get your records sent (which I did immediately), we need to determine if this is a second opinion issue or not..... Then the issue became they needed to speak to his secretary (If this is starting to sound like a chapter from one of Kafka's novels, you'd be correct!). After two days of being tortured by the appointment makers I finally made it to the secretary, who apparently has absorbed medical knowledge to the point where she dispenses medical diagnostics and opinions. Said secretary actually tried to make a telephonic diagnosis, over the phone, as to whether my issue came from my previous surgery or if it was it a new issue. The reason why, because in her expert opinion, if she determined it came from the surgery, there was no point in me seeing the doctor as nothing could be done! I had no idea here, in the State of New York, secretaries were permitted to dispense medical recommendations after doing their very own telephonic diagnostics! What is even more ridiculous about this entire conversation is that I can't tell if it is from the surgery or not! And I'm the one feeling the pain! How on earth is this person supposed to make that determination over the phone, someone who doesn't even have a medical degree, training, education etc.. ! Clearly, if this organization permits this kind of thing, there is fundamentally something wrong with its management! I asked her how it was she was attempting to make a medical diagnostic and where did she get her medical credentials from. Of course that conversation went nowhere. It seemed to escape her entirely that she should not be dispensing medical diagnosis if she is not a doctor. In short, apparently CORG has authorized both their appointment making staff and secretaries to provide medical diagnosis (sorry folks, you don't even get as far as a triage nurse!). Since I would prefer to actually deal with a doctor, I gave up trying to get to see Dr. Whipple and will see someone else. Good luck to you if you try seeing someone at this place! read more

I've had a great experience with Dr. Das and my hip surgery. 5/5 so this rating is an average of the 2 experiences! I went to the walk in urgent care the dr. Offered no advice other than if the swelling in my leg gets worse I would have to go to the hospital! I went back for a follow up 5 days later. The dr. Was very dismissive, again no real diagnosis other than when it gets better you will need PT. I asked to what degree is the muscle torn. His response "well only a MRI would show that" obviously! 2 trips and nothing! No suggestions for treatment. read more

I had pretty positive experience overall. Dr DiCaprio is wonderful. Xray tech was great. Just feels like a factory when you check in & out. Can't give the place 5 stars because wait was too long at check in with people standing in line on crutches & walkers. read more

My husband and I have each visited surgeons in this practice for several different issues. Each time we were given the appropriate care, and the issues were resolved. It is great that they have x-ray facilities right on site, as well as MRI. They have added an urgent care for orthopedic injuries, which is wonderful. One receptionist was not very friendly, but all the rest of the staff were great. The surgeons are the best of the best. read more

I must agree with the other comments. Capital Region Ortho is by far the worst medical practice in the area. The staff could care less about patients and the medical practitioners care even less than their staff, if that's even possible. Cold and impersonal are understatements in terms of treatment. The icing on the cake was the completely inappropriate remarks and behaviors exhibited by my surgical provider. Finally, obtaining x-rays is a most laborious process that requires me to venture back to the office, request them from a receptionist, wait forever while they are burned on a disc, and then pay $10.00 for the inconvenience. They will not burn the x-rays before you physically show up at the office. the whole experience was a nightmare. read more

If you want to feel appreciated for your hard work and dedication... and get above a 1 cent raise for all the money you help this company make...DO NOT WORK HERE. If I could give it no stars I would! My husband has been lying on the floor in pain for 6 weeks. When we made the initial visit, we had to wait 2 weeks.... Then after the 5 minute appointment, they scheduled an MRI for another 2 weeks away. Then the appointment to review the MRI was another 1.5 weeks away. Meanwhile, my husband can't walk. When they looked at the MRI, they decided he needed the surgeon..... yup.... another 2 weeks. I called to see if he could get in earlier since he has been in pain! I was told there was nothing earlier. I asked if there was a cancellation list..... she said, and I quote: "*chuckle*, We don't do that here, I have 38 doctors I have to schedule for" Seriously????? Oh, and I forgot to mention, When he was at his appt after the MRI, he was told someone would call to get him an appt for an epidural appt. That was a week ago. Still waiting for that call. I decided this was total BS. I called a highly recommended Neurosurgeon. They said I needed a referral from the ortho. I left 6, yes 6 messages for the SECRETARY to call me back. NOTHING! When I called the Neurosurgeon again, they got us in the next day and my husband was scheduled for surgery in less than a week! This place has no care or concern for the patients! It's a "get them in get them out" mentality! I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy here!!!!!! GO TO ORTHO NY!!!!! If you need back surgery, go see Dr McCormack, Spine and Neurosurgery on RTE 7 near the old Bowlers Club. They couldn't be any nicer there!!!! read more

My father had hip surgery here by Dr. Fuchs. He had quite a few questions before hand and Dr. Fuchs' secretary answered all his calls and all his questions with patience and kindness. The surgery went great and his recovery time has been remarkable. I would highly recommend this practice, very patient focused. read more

I went and saw Dr. Lozman on April 18th. He wrote script for an anti-inflammatory for a back related pain issue. It had just completely slipped my mind that I can't take those for an un-related medical issue. I called back a day or 2 later and left a voicemail for his nurse/assistant. A couple of weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. I had my pharmacy call thinking maybe that would be more effective but they didnt return their call. I called the office back and left a message with an office manager. Again, no phone call. I also left another voicemail for the nurse. Roll forward to May 2nd and I left an angry message for the nurse letting her know that if she didn't call me back that day I would be showing up in the office the next day demanding to speak to someone. So alas, I got a call from her the next day. We discussed the issue again, and she said she'd call me back within an hour. Now, I was not expecting within an hour, but it's now about a week later and no call. I just left a message earlier today with the nurse and another office manager that was extremely heated and again said if I don't get a call back today that I'm coming into the office tomorrow with no appointment. When this is all said and done, I'm taking my records and going somewhere else. This is extremely unprofessional and I can't believe that I have to deal with this. read more

I made and appointment at the Malta, NY office to see my spine surgeon. I had not seen him in two years since my surgery and I have been having severe neck and back problems. I had to wait 2 months for the appointment. I had a 68 mile round trip to get there and back. When I arrived they informed me they no longer take my insurance and wanted me to pay in full for the visit. I declined! When I made the appointment they were still taking my insurance. No one notified me about this change and I was treated like a medical record and it was all about them getting paid. The doctor never even came out to talk to me and offer an alternative doctor to see. They were rude and not helpful in the least. I had to wait a good 10 minutes or more at the check in. I was in severe pain because i couldn't take my meds because I was driving. I left there totally stressed out and really, really upset and had to drive home in that state. A long drive home! I would give 0 stars if I could. Very disappointing indeed! read more

Don't ever go to this facility. The nurse was an absolute joke. As you can see in many other reviews, we all have the same horrible experience. Coming out the ER, my discharge instructions was to follow up immediately at this facility . The nurse then told me I shouldn't even be here and argued against my doctors reasoning as well . She couldn't even find my results from the ER. If your back and health Is important to you, then get help elsewhere read more

Sad to say, this surgeon and business I attended with high hopes deserves less than a one star rating. The only really wonderful thing about Capital Region Ortho Bone and Joint Center on Washington Ave in Albany NY are the nurses and the clerks. Very sweet, lovely people. The surgeon, however, though young and very nice, was also very incompetent. I went there 3 times with pain so severe in my femur that I couldn't walk without a cane. He took x-rays and ordered a bone scan - but claimed he found nothing. He was a bit condescending, too, by answering my protest with, "I'm sure YOU really feel the pain, but I see nothing wrong with you." As if i were a hypochondriac. After charging $350 per visit which lasted about 1 minute each, and him telling me that there was nothing wrong with me and to seek another opinion, I did. The other orthopedic surgeon in Hudson, NY, took one look at the x-rays and bone scan this other doctor ordered and (presumably) looked at, and yelled, "Holy S**T! How long have you been walking on a fractured femur?!" He showed me the bone scan - and the damage - and there was a VERY obvious large white orb around which should have been straight bone. I had been walking on a fractured leg for 4 months, during all that time going back and forth to the Bone and Joint, getting worse and worse, and basically being told I was imagining my pain - and all the while making my fracture worse because it never received the treatment it needed. Infuriated, I called the other Bone and Joint Ctr. doctor back to let him know what the 2nd opinion was - twice - and he never responded. I am furious he refused to acknowledge the obvious. I want my money back because, as it stands what he obviously knowingly committed was nothing short of fraud and theft (unless he's daft, in which case, he does not deserve the trust people put in him). I guess I could sue for blatant malpractice - but because he is still quite young, I am, for his sake, refraining, hoping he will learn from this mistake. I am going to now report him to the Attorney General's office unfair business practice unit. A warning to the wise- avoid the grand and costly (in more ways than one) Bone and Joint Center of Capital Region Ortho at any cost. The health of your bones might depend upon it. Mine did. And you do not want to sustain irreversible damage. read more

Their office staff does not have any idea when it comes to insurance coverage. There seems to be a mind set that unless you can verify that they will be paid they will not talk to you. The Saratoga Office should be handing the practice not Albany. read more

treatment was ok. however the group unabashedly overcharges for ancillary products. when you are at the doctor's office, you certainly don't expect to pay double for an item that is required. this place has no issue with doing so just to pad their margins. read more

I was scheduled for shoulder surgery on June 24th and received a telephone call from Dr. Tenuta's office 12 days prior to my scheduled surgery to reschedule for July 8th. My work dictates that in order for me to be out of work for 6-8 weeks I would need FMLA approval from the Director of my job. I scheduled my vacation during my recovery and coverage had to be provided by my co-workers. The explanation I received was that Dr. Tenuta was not going to be there on my scheduled surgery date. I am extremely upset at all of the hoops I had to jump through and adjustments to my work and family, only to have a last minute phone call disrupt my life. It was also mentioned that this office attempted to contact me a week prior "but my mailbox was full" I have two e-mail addresses and have also provided my work phone number. No attempt was made to contact me through any other avenue. I was unable to reschedule for the dates I was offered and now have to suffer with the pain until I can resubmit all the appropriate paperwork for another surgery date. I am upset to think that my life is not as important. read more
