I have stopped using Dave's if I can help it. The web site was down more than up, and reservations using that became less and less convenient - down one star. The most annoying part was a new driver swiped my credit card manually (on paper if you don't know what that means in these times). So, there is a real copy of my credit card on file. This still needs to be entered for approval. My bank kept denying the charge. This company kept trying for 2 days, and my bank kepy denying the charge. On the 3rd day, a very upset Dave called me and asked me to all my bank. It was a Sunday; so, I told him I won't get a response until Monday. So, my bank replies. Like I mentioned earlier, there is a hard copy of my credit card for this transaction. They kept entering the wrong expiration date. How is this MY problem? So I needed a ride to the airport since all my friends were at work during the weekday. I called Dave's taxi service and they were very helpful in arranging a ride for me. The lady asked for my information and emailed me a confirmation within minutes. On the day of my flight, the taxi driver was very prompt and called me at the exact time I scheduled my taxi service. I called them at 10pm tonight for a cab to fit 7 people. I asked 3 times to make sure we would get a van that fit everyone in 15-20 mins. The man I spoke to on the phone said yes, they had one taxi coming back from the airport and one on standby. So I happily requested a taxi. At 10:25 I called to check on the status of the cab and was told he would be there any minute. After about 3 mins a cab pulled up and when he asked me how many we had I told him 7. He said "oh you got the wrong cab" and told me it was a handicap van...then drove away. I called the operator number back and told them and he said there was a mistake, but they didn't try to correct it at all. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for a taxi we couldn't even take. I needed to get to SMF for my flight to LAX and then back (round trip). I usually don't take taxis to the airport where I am from in the SF Bay but after considering the price of parking my car at the economy lot at Sac airport and risking getting my tires+wheels stolen plus a free gift of broken windows or vandalism after being away for a few days, I decided against driving. In addition, I imagined myself wandering aimlessly in a quite, remote, and dark parking lot at 1 AM and decided that probably wasn't a good idea either so I decided to fork over a few extra dollars for the peace of mind and called Dave's Taxi Service after reading the great reviews. I hate to get all Forrest Gump on you, but taxis are indeed like a box of chocolates; you never know WHO you're going to get. Safety is the most important to me and after that, not having a communication barrier because that means you get to the correct destination in one piece. Having Dave's personal and direct number to maintain communication with your driver was paramount; I felt better knowing there was someone assigned to me specifically to pick me up and drop me off both ways. Upon booking, Dave gathered the details from me regarding the time of pick-up to go to the airport and pick-up from the airport back home. The day before pick-up, he called again to confirm the details of my ride to Sacramento Airport again. On the day of, just as I had requested, the driver arrived at EXACTLY 6PM as I was faithfully waiting where I said I would. As the driver was pulling up, Dave called me to let me know my ride was there. Sweet! This is really great if you are in the house waiting so there's no need to wait in a downpour or something. The day before my pick up at the airport, Dave again called to confirm the details of my pick-up at the airport and to make sure he had the right airline and flight number, origin city, etc. He verbally told me specific details of where I should go once I arrive and how. Upon hanging up, he texted me the directions for my reference. Upon landing, I called him to let him know and he took into consideration whether I had luggage or not. He was about 5 minutes later than he said he would be, but he did call to inform me that there was a slight delay. Great communication on his part; I didn't mind as I wasn't in a rush since I was arriving but I appreciated him letting me know. Overall, the vehicles were very clean. I was not subjected to any awful music or boring news talk; in fact, the radio was off both times and I appreciated that. I did smell smoke on the driver when I was picked up from the airport which gave me a headache, but I know I'm more sensitive to it than others. For the record, it wasn't coming from the car itself. They helped me with my luggage both times so, ladies, rest assured if you're looking cute and in your heels! I live off Del Paso and I-5; the minimum fare for him to come out is $20 for the airport. However, pay attention to the meter because if it is less than $20, you pay what is on the meter. If the meter shows more than $20, you only pay $20. :) No surprises, I like! Of course, I always add a tip. read more

I had used this service several months ago. I cannot emphasize how lovely the taxi driver was. Because I had used their website first, Dave confirmed my price and reminded me to remind the taxi driver of the place. It was solid and cheaper than most taxi services would be. Taxi driver did not give me the creeps! That's always a plus. Down side is, where the Dave Taxi's are parked, it is easy to go on the wrong one. The yellow taxi group has monopolized the taxi-parking spots... and Dave's parking spot is behind them. So if you can only spot yellow taxis, stop and call Dave's service. They will walk you step by step into finding their taxi. :) Just a hint: they do not have yellow taxis! I highly recommend them. I will be easily using this service again soon read more

Wanted an affordable alternative to sightseeing trips of the Blue Van experience, given that we were traveling as a couple a cab seemed like a good option. However, we wanted to make our trip a flat fee, not always available for negotiation with just any taxi. Took the queasy risk of going with Dave"s ...it is a bit nerve racking to bet your travel to your week long vacation on a service you have never used, but we figured the worst that could happen is we would have to jump in our car and pay fees for Econ parking! We were really happy to have out 4:30 am pick-up show up at 4:15 and wait quietly while we pulled our sleepy selves together. We arranged a round trip ride and got a confirmation via text the evening before our flight. A friend offered to pick us up so we canceled our pick-up via text back, which was simple and easy. Turns out our flight was delayed deep into the morning, a time we would ask NO friend to pick us up (3:30am). When we arrived we decided to grab an Airport Taxi, but of course we were in good company, at least 15 others were lined up for the airport contracted services, which seemed to have a very limited number of cars available. We decided to give Dave's a call and within 10 minutes we had a cab meeting us at the pre-arranged travel stop at SMF. Our ride home was welcomed and the flat fee of $38 was deal, it would have cost $54 if we were paying the metered price. I highly recommend Dave's, our experience was flawless! read more

So, I had to go to Sac for some training for work, and since I DONT drive, getting around tends to be a bit difficult when Im not in my home town of San Jose. After checking a couple other companies for the best price, I started looking through Yelp for some reviews and came across these guys. Im glad I did. The computer estimate told me 24 and change, but then I got a call back and after talking to the guy he told me a flat fee of 20. Thats 10 bucks CHEAPER than their competitors fyi. So, I had to be picked up at the ungodly hour of 5:30 am. The driver called me because somehow the pickup address was different, but since he was already 5 mins early and I could see him, we were golden. The moment I opened the door, I was relieved to find not only an English speaking driver as promised, but a taxi that smelled like it was freshly detailed by the same guys that do limos. Immaculate. The driver was cool as shit, and I was happy as hell that I didnt have to be subjected to crappy music. Suicidal Tendencies and Misfits were on the playlist and my only complaint is that he wouldnt turn it up louder. lol. Overall these guys are PIMPS of the Taxi service in Sac. I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the professionalism of this company. I called them for a pick up for 6 people and the person on the line was very nice, spoke clearly and was very polite and cordial. She obtained all of the info for the pick up and asked me if I needed any further rides for the night, which I did, and she gave me proper instructions to ensure my friend and I had a ride to our next destination. I asked the woman on the line if we could be picked up at a specific time, and the drive arrived right on the dot. Upon entering the van, the driver (Ryan) was also very polite, opening the doors for us all and greeting us. The cab itself was VERY clean and the driver engaged in polite conversation with me. He then offered if we'd like to play any of our music, which is always a bonus to get the mood/party started! He got us to our destination quickly and safely. After or first stop I called the company again as directed and spoke with the same polite woman who actually remembered me and she got me and my friends our next ride within 10 minutes. My review is based on the airport shuttle service. I have used them twice, to drop us off and then pick us up later. Based on that experience, I will only use Dave's in the future for any taxi needs. They quoted me the $28 Midtown-SAC airport special both going and coming, and honored the special. This is a great price for the airport. They arrived a bit early and waited for me when the picked up at 4 AM going to the airport. Then when we returned, they were on time to pick us up; and the driver (who I believe is the owner of the company) called to tell us that he would be there in the next few minutes as he made his way to us. They accept credit cards though clearly would prefer cash; they did not give me a hard time about it regardless. A much more pleasant experience than driving to the airport and parking in economy. read more

On time, service is great and driver was very friendly. The two reasons I subtracted two stars were; 1. It was the most expensive taxi I've ever taken, my fare was like $80 to go from Rancho Cordova to the Sacramento Airport. I just got back from Seattle and used a town car service that took me twice the distance for about half the price (and their vehicle was immaculate and very comfortable). 2. The vehicle was not well taken care of. It didn't smell bad, but it also didn't smell good. The seats were tore up and overall just not clean or comfortable. For as much as I ended up paying, I expect a lot more. My driver was great, he got there on time and helped us with our luggage and was friendly with us the whole way down. I did mention that I found him them on yelp which got me a 10% discount, but I'll stick to asking friends or family members for a ride to the airport. read more

I booked 2 cabs to take 8 people and luggage to SMF for a 6AM flight. I made the reservation a week in advance and reconfirmed by phone the afternoon prior. Arrival time was 4:15. I called at 4:25 to inquire and was put on hold for 5mins. When they returned to the phone, I was told the car broke down and if I wanted they could send another car but it would take 20 mins. We did not have enough time for that. They had my phone and flight info on my reservation but did not contact me to tell me there was a problem. I'm certain I was lied to and that no cabs were dispatched. I scrambled to get to the airport and barely made my flight. I would not trust this company again and if they were credible they would offer to pay for my airport parking costs. read more

I used this for a ride from SMF. The flight was a bit late plus the hike from gate to taxi area yet the driver waited. Dave clearly communicated about the itinerary and took the flight number to get accurate information, as well as emailing me the itinerary. The driver, Cliff, was courteous and helpful. After reading the reviews, I called them. PERFECT service! Appointment made quickly through owner (?), immediate confirmation email, later confirmation email and phone call day before appointment. From airport, my friend emailed to say "Taxi was right on time. Very nice driver." About "cash only", it was not SAID that it was cash only BUT it was said "tell the driver the rate is $X" and my friend did. I only noticed "cash only" on the confirmation emails. Passenger was prepared but that was the only thing I could say would be easy for someone to miss. HIGHLY recommend and will refer/use again without hesitation. read more

I have used Dave's Taxi for all my airport rides for the last five years. They are always on time, actually they usually arrive at my home a few minutes early and just wait quietly outside which I appreciate. On my return they track my arrival flight and are there at the prearranged pick-up spot even if the flight was delayed. Dave's Taxi is also open to flat rate negotiations, which is something I really appreciate and also pretty rare in Sacramento. The cars are always clean and the drivers are all helpful and friendly. I have used Dave's for family emergencies too - second Saturday downtown and the daughters' designated driver forgot his responsibilities. I was too far away to get there quickly so I called Dave's and the driver called her immediately, told her a safe place nearby to wait and picked her up within 10 minutes.
