The classes themselves are fantastic - you'll learn by doing, but also by watching an expert demonstrate for you, and getting as much help as you may need throughout. It's a good balance: you'll build your skill set and learn the practicalities of metalsmithing, but also learn to understand your own creative vision, which you can work on during open studio hours. The vibe is really chill (Dan plays great music!), all the teachers are kind and helpful and supportive, your fellow students are all interesting and fun, and overall this is the kind of space where you feel like you're able to make mistakes and still learn and grow from them. It can feel like a real leap of faith to do something so personal and important in such an unconventional way, and to put your trust in a stranger and in your own ability to learn something you have never even considered before--but I am so glad I took it. I have an experience I will remember for the rest of my life, my fiancée (she said yes of course!) has a beautiful, truly one-of-a-kind heirloom she adores and values beyond measure, and we have a story we will tell over and over again. She is already getting questions about where I found her ring, and her friends are already gushing about how amazed they are I made it. Honestly, I am amazed too. I wasn't sure I could make a ring that looked better than a beginner's craft project!--but that was before I met Dan. I had a personal design idea that not only do they not sell in stores, they don't even really sell jade cut how I needed. As far as I can tell, no one had done this before. Well, now someone has, it turned out incredible, and it's all because Dan made it possible. He went above and so far beyond. As a craftsman he is not just skilled, but meticulous, and determined to make sure every product he works on meets his high standard of excellence. As a teacher he is patient, knowledgeable, and eager to share and show what he knows--which is a lot.  And to top it all off, he is a real man of his word--exactly the kind of person you want to put your trust in when dealing with precious metals, stones, and memories. Liz, Sampson and Isaiahs to be exact were so amazing I had to name them. Only two out of our group had flew before so we needed all their attention and they provided it! They encouraged us to come back and even reminded us we get a discount if we register within the 24 hr time period. Cost I was very pleased for the experience we received in comparison to the price. Very reasonable imo and very convenient when it came to scheduling dates. Location Located in Navy Yard suprsigly I was able to nab a spot directly in front and never had to look around. I booked the 6pm class which may have played a factor with the parking.

FLYING TRAPEZE It's pretty intimidating to climb all the way…read moreup to the top and stand on that platform and jump for the first time. But you get used to it after awhile because depending on the size of the class, you could end up jumping 6-8 times. Toward the end I was getting really tired and my arms were feeling like jello and wanted to give out. When you go for the swinging catch you really have to stretch your body and reach for the other person. Unfortunately, I didn't make the connection but with a few more sessions I feel that will be the natural next step. It's exhilarating and you leave feeling like a bad ass. BEGINNER SILKS CLASS This class was a lot harder than it looks - it does require some upper body strength, hand grip and balance. The instructor was very encouraging and demonstrated each move step by step. I only took one class but I'd be interesting in taking a series once it gets a little warmer out. I would recommend wearing long sleeves and pants because your body will rub with a lot of friction against the silks. I'm excited to continue to take both classes again and some of their additional unique offerings like the lyra (aerial hoop), trampoline and maybe even juggling classes!

His small studio on the 3rd floor of a brick row house right next to Cafe Saint Ex is as visually enticing as it is warm and inviting. It's also the perfect location to take a one-on-one art class - where you can learn about (and learn to create!) all different types of art! Miguel works with all mediums - from oil and encaustic to printing his own photography onto metal. A lot of his art pieces are for sale in his studio. He also does commissioned pieces, and recently created a 5 piece art installation for the front lobby of the "Church Place" condo building, located at 1520 16th St. NW, Wash DC. Miguel is also a very active member of DC's "Mid City Artists" collaborative, and regularly participates in their bi-annual Open Studios Tour. Beginner Trapeze Class…read more If you've ever wanted to fly through the air with the greatest of ease (and a safety harness), this is the place. I signed up for the beginner trapeze class, and let me tell you, "beginner" here does not mean "everyone's brand new." Most of the class clearly had been before, which at first was a little intimidating... but the vibe? Supportive. There are three instructors, each strategically posted like trapeze guardian angels: one up top, one on the ground, one mid-zone to help you through the process. They give you the info you need, then give you space to actually process it--not just bark orders. It's a smart balance of guidance and "you got this." I'll be honest: standing up on that platform is terrifying at first. But between the calm coaching and the cheering from classmates, you find your footing (literally). And once you take that leap, you get why people keep coming back. The environment is fun, well-run, and just the right amount of challenge. If you're looking to shake up your routine, face a fear, or just have a story that will blow "I went to brunch" out of the water--this is it. Highly recommend.

When I've peered through the windows it tends to look abandoned, with art hanging crooked and furniture strewn about. The same art is there for months, but there is never anyone around? On their website it says that it is apparently DC's "largest contemporary art gallery", but it appears to be more of a rarely used wedding and corporate event venue.

Blagden alley is also behind it so you can have Tiger Fork, The Dabney, and a bunch of other places right there. Espita Mezcaleria is basically next door.

We had our baby there for about 6 months, they never followed the COVID procedures they committed to which resulted in three closures for a total of almost 6 weeks during that time. The communication was terrible - we never knew what was going on in class, who the teachers were, or why teacher after teacher and assistant director after assistant director were there one day and gone the next. The activities in the fancy lesson plans they send you weren't followed (for example, they almost never went outside), the teachers were unhappy, and I've never witnessed a manager yell at their staff like I did at drop off at Goddard. It got to the point that we couldn't trust what anyone was saying about our kiddos care and we left at that point. As first time parents we didn't know that 6 months of our kid being miserable at drop off wasn't normal, we feel really lucky that we left Goddard and are settled at a place where drop off and pick up are an ease, communication is regular, and the teachers love our kiddo.
